OOC: Thanks!:D Actually yeah, I'm going to edit my default NS factbook to match this one (except the stats, of course) and put it on NSWiki. Might be a while though, since I'm still figuring out how to work that site...:headbang:

History of the USSW
In many ways, the United Socialist States of Wagdog could be literally called a "labor of love." That is, it was the chance meeting of formerly American college students "Carolinus Horridus" (note: real name redacted per USSW State Security Act of 1996; public disclosure of General Secretary's true name, even inadvertently, is punishable by a maximum of six months' salary in fines or house-arrest under a Petty Sedition charge...) and Christine Friedrich at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville that set things in motion. Upset by the Vietnam War, plus ongoing racial tensions and the seeming directionlessness in America during the period (a feeling ironically shared by idealists of both right and left), in their hoplessness these two students swore a lovers' suicide pact and took off for the jungles of Bougainville to help chase the then-British Empire out of the area for good in accordance with the "Wind of Change"; or failing that, to die together trying.
Unbeknownst to them, certain other friends such as the first Wagdoggie Green, Avalon Davies, or Christine's other best friends Justina Stephens (Wagdog's first 'Pink' or Social-Democrat, and current Education Secretary) and Elaine Williams (Wagdog's first and only Interior Secretary so far, a hardcore Communist/Revolutionary Party member...), all volunteered to follow the couple and make the effort work. And sure enough, as the British Empire gradually withdrew from the South Pacific and the US gradually became absorbed in Cuban and Canadian affairs before forming the North American Republic, the newborn "Pacific Revolutionary Front" went from strength to strength. Wagdog's name originated from when they beat back an attempted Indonesian invasion of Papua New Guinea prior to Indonesia's own eventual collapse and fall into Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere hands. Working in tandem with the soldiers of the former Royal Pacific Islands Regiment, the outnumbered and outgunned Pacific Revolutionary Front forces themselves outmaneuvered the Indonesians instead, and ejected them completely from Papua within the space of mere months. After the General Secretary explained his victory by claiming they defeated Indonesia despite their relative weakness because, "We were smarter than Indonesia, just like a dog is smarter than its tail. If the tail were smarter, the tail would wag the dog," his use of an old American aphorism stuck and the country's name was official soon thereafter.
However, as each Pacific Island state currently comprising the nation was gradually annexed through the judicious support of local leftists whether military or simply political, the country grew progressively more isolated in consequence of the diplomatic fallout; despite never seeming aggressive enough to warrant full military retaliation, oddly. Eventually, by the time Fiji joined under the new name "Revolevuji" after its second coup of 1987, Wagdog had grown into the so-called "Red Hole of the Pacific" for its until-then relentlessly-expanding and from then-on closed nature; remaining incommunicado for the next two decades aside from some 'under the table' relations with the Czechalrussian Federation in terms of black market arms deals, the source of Wagdog's current formidable military power for its otherwise small and overstretched size. This also earned Wagdog the half-jocular nickname "Second Biggest Beneficiary of the Fall of the USSR," since much of the weaponry gained would otherwise have been scrapped (and was indeed initially listed as so, more often than not) had it not covertly found it's way to the Pacific instead. Although Wagdog started economic reforms a decade later than the PRC, the results bore fruit rapidly and the country has since kept up with its new Chinese role models in most statistical terms.
By now, the country is positioning itself as one of the pillars of remaining Socialism left on earth, now that Eastern Europe has gone "rightist" with the notable exceptions of Czechalrus and the largely-restored Yugoslavia. However, Wagdog's policies are very much independent, more Machiavellian than Marxist really; and the country tries to keep an awareness of its fundamental limitations at all times, especially now that it is only recently re-emerging onto the international scene after a bizarre two decades in which large populations of quasi-supernatural ethnicities such as Elves or Vampires and Were-beings appeared seemingly without pause. Although the origins of the first two groups are still utterly unclear, the so-called homochimera are at least reliably traceable to the bizarre genetic experiments conducted by the mad scientist Dr. Trudeau on Bougainville; he being the first and, arguably, most infamous of the various Pacific despots Wagdog destroyed in its time. Having mutated local islanders and either local or captured beasts into whatever twisted forms his dementia concocted, the evolution of them into a fully-neo-hominid form is believed to have occurred from among the most-advanced of the viable mutations that didn't have to be euthanized after the mad doctor's defeat (before their own mutations killed them horribly, that is...).
In line with the country's progressive and tolerant ethos, citizenship was offered to and accepted by all of these minorities however bizarre, although this nearly brought about Wagdog's destruction in the process when local humans too scared by the seeming madness unfolding around them formed the human-fascist Wagdoggie Blood and Soil Party; bringing the capital to what could've been called a "localized civil war" in 1996 before order was successfully restored. Naturally, Wagdog's isolation was prolonged for another whole decade due to this... embarrassment; and many security regulations dating back to that time, such as the General Secretary's obsessive use of his Latin pseudonym and complete ban of his real name from all records or even casual public use, remain in effect for fear of allowing another underground WBSPite or sympathizer to recognize him and finish what had almost happened during the first assassination attempt in 1996. Though there are covert efforts to undo this seeming public paranoia on the regime's own part, so far their likelihood of success is uncertain in the extreme...

OOC: Post entry into RP-time TBA, obviously. These are the fundamentals, and also a good general overview (with most of the RL names and all ESS-specific bits withheld obviously) of my main NS history too.

Very well, we shall welcome Lord Davenport to 1917 Aurora Avenue and send Comrade Jennifer Straw to represent us in return, with only what staff and guards you may permit. Might you have a facility in new Delhi in mind?

Most Embasys are located in Embasy Square; the centre of our capital a mere 5 minutes walk from the Queens Residence and Council Buildings; the area is quite scenic and incudles a secured park in its centre where diplomates can meet our doors; the facility is fully furinished and accomodates for diplomatic staff, there familys and security personal; the facility is state of the art and comes with all the latest computing technolgy.

Although we had gathered this much already, your assurances are impeccable. Our thanks, and congratulations on resolving the Kazakh matter. Thanks to this, our government may now establish relations with the Russians in good conscience; since our view of their naked aggression, based on what seem to us trumped-up charges straight from Stalinist times, was dim in the extreme. But now that they are abiding by the agreement, we shall reward this, and would be willing to inquire what requirements for a deployment on our part your election monitoring mission may require.

Reply
We do appologise on behalf of her royal highness on the lateness of our reply to your initial enquiry but as you now know her attention was needed for urget matters of state in the Kazakh issue. as for the monitoring missing we would require 2000 peacekeepers from you to set up polling sations and counting facilitys to help ensure that the election is conducted in a fair manner that neither side can claim the result was rigged it is important that the election be transparent and adire to international standards or we fear war may return to the region.

Peace afterall is fraigle like glass; and must be held with the most delicate of hands or it will shatter and perhaps never return. your soldiers would be needed no longer than is required to hold the election and count the results. unless of course you wish to aid in the reconstruction effor but that is a matter you would need to take up with the new Kazakh Government

We would be honored to contribute. For combat capability or simple presence operations we can send one each of our Airborne, Signal, Engineer and Transport Battalions, plus an Armored Battalion of 30 Czechalrussian-designed T-7A light tanks to enable some serious combat presence in case of violations. This would take up our entire transport fleet (10 Il-76MF) for quite some time (easily six round-trips or more), but is doable nonetheless; and we shall order so at once if you deem it satisfactory. Is it so?

Offical Reply
That would be fantastic; and if you'll allow us we can aid you in the transport of your forces to the area as we are quite near geographically we can loan some of our Antov-32 Transport craft for your use during the peacekeeping mission.

Her Royal highness thanks you your support.

Yes, if you could send enough of those (20 should suffice) to handle our personnel, the Ilyushins could concentrate on hauling heavy equipment and supplies. Already they are gathering at bases near Manipulatia (former Manokwari) on New Guinea, said bases to be the central hubs for this deployment, while the selected units (all local) are to rendezvous for transport. From there, our mutual force can deploy through neutral East Asian airspace (hopefully you can secure permission for both of us, we being mere auxiliaries on what is your mission to command after all) and thence from yours to Kazakhstan without undue delay. The relevant orders to rendezvous are already issued, us needing only confirmation of East Asian permission to proceed.

Offical Reply
We wish to inform you that the East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere has granted passage through there airspace for the peacekeeping missing as well as commint 3000 troops themselves to join us along with hopefully 2000 Americans. this will make a 9000 Strong Peacekeeping force; our transport planes will take off imediately to land at the designated airports as soon as posable.

You can;), although it takes a fair amount of time and is really best done in a word-processing program and than copy-pasted into Jolt; formatting best left to Jolt since that tends to be unpredictable when translated from one's computer. As was I nearly drove myself nuts trying to find an accurate order of battle for US assets on Guam (what became my bombers and all once the substitution rules were applied...:D) , since most of the information out there is all of old, contradictory, and vague at once. But I managed, often just going by what a typical deployment rotation to Guam usually is even today thanks to North Korea's policy habits. Really, you could put this together, and mine isn't even all done so it doesn't have to happen at once. Just put up what you need to first, mostly your encyclopedia stats and embassies (and maybe a skeleton ORBAT for your forces too), then handle the rest as you think of or RP it.
Marxikhan, are you on ESS? This is my factbook for that specific RP's version of my country, like a "parallel-universe" Wagdog compared to my NS version. You can certainly join ESS if you like, since we've still got lots of land to claim and are just starting the RPs themselves (OOC thread here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=522785)). Don't let the huge claims fool you; there's lots of Africa and Central Asia and South America left to claim, so jump in if interested. Great!:D But first, research your territories a bit so you'll know what you have to play with; keeping in mind that you can have better or worse weapons for your military than the RL countries do, just so long as your forces are smaller if you pick more expensive ones and larger if cheaper (depending on what you want). As long as you don't break the bank or the rules, you can design the USSM however you want here; but part of those rules are your RL economies and populations, whatever technology you use. Your factbook will also most likely be your embassy, so be ready to get messages asking for embassies to your nation from other players. Again, take it easy for a day or two and just get started; then unleash the USSM and see how the world handles it!;)

We would be happy to host an embassy of yours, but we must first know what channels you have in return for us to request one of our own in your country.
