A small town named Chesterson, Minnesota...

The city of Chesterson lay quiet in the early morning as a slight breeze made it's way through town. Cars lay silent, crashed in various positions in the street. Half-eaten bodies and blood stains decorated the the sidewalks roads along with other debris, mostly trash, newspapers and shattered glass. Almost all human life had ceased to exist during the past few, chaotic days...

Meanwhile, a young woman stood firmly in the path of the cities zombified inhabitants in a side street. Melissa Buring smiled as she snapped several shots of the undead as they slowly approached her, groaning and hissing her direction hungry for her flesh. She didn't seem to mind in the slightest though, not showing an ounce of fear...

"This is amazing!" She commented as she snapped a close-up of an incoming zombie. "This has to get me some kinda award once I get outta here..." She ended before continuing to take pictures, the zombies coming with a dangerously close proximity of the young woman...

Xavier Solis had barricaded his house, in an attempt to hold back the undead hoard. It worked. But he peered outside of his window, viewing a young woman, approached closely by an undead, thing. He aimed down the iron sights of his FS2000 legal rifle, it was semi automatic, but he had coverted it into a select fire, full auto and semi. He fired off one round 5.56 caliber, forcing the undead's head to implode.

He yelled to the young, beautiful, woman below. "Are you alive!?" He said in a tiredly, older sounding, ironic voice. He didn't expect a yes, but he had to hope.

Brendan had spied the young woman from down the street. He had believed her to be dead. But as he advanced up the street he discovered she was quite alive. Brendan, moving surprisingly quick for his size, ordered her to ducked fired a clip in to the crowd and pulled the young lady away. "Are you trying to get killed?" He didn't give the girl enough time to answer before he began pulling her to the barricaded house.

Melissa stood in shock for a moment. Gore splattered over her face, hair and clothes. The shot that took the zombies head off had apparently come out of no where.

"Huh...who's there...?!" She asked, looking around the area to see if she could find the zombies assassin.

"Oh... my... fucking god!" Xavier screamed inside his apartment, laughing of excitement and joy. "Hey, gurlie, i'm up here. In this fucking apartment!" He countinued to laugh, loudly. "Sorry for the little blood spill on you. Oh my god, you're alive. So, you got a working car?"

Manfreid sat in the corner of the inner part of the semi trailer. He had stuck a large metal bar between the handles so tothing would be openingthe doors any time soon. On his PDA was a map of the town and a mark showing where his targets were. If he pulled this job off, he would be quite a rich man. He pocketed the PDA and removed his SCAR-LCQC from his back hoster. he walked up to the door and removed the bar, then kicked it as hard as he could, making it fly open and hit an unsuspecting zombie in the head. Manfreid hopped down and dragged the zombie over to a wall and placed its head against it. The creature let out a loud groan just as Manfreid's boot crushed its head against the wall, effectively putting the zombie out of commission.

John Mavier had his Desert Eagle in both of his hands. John has been protecting hiself for the past few days. His house was a mess, there was blood everywhere, glasses were shattered, doors torn down.... He heard more groans coming from the backyard and he decided to get the hell out of there. He sprinted to the garage, go into the hummer, turned the keys, and kicked the pedal.

Melissa didn't reply to either of the men. It was still quite a shock to her that anyone but her was still alive in this town. And now here she was, being carred along to some unseen barricaded house....she didn't know what to do. But she did take the chance for a few more pictures as she was being pulled toward the house...

Xavier fired a round at the man running with the woman, he thought it was a god damn zombie. "Come back, I need you, asshole!" He screamed as he memorized the way they were going. He had to have a photographic memory to be a sniper, memorize routes and such. Intel was half their jobs, god damnit. He fired two more 5.56 rounds out of his gun, hoping they would stop.

Manfreid looked up from mess he had just made to hear a sound down the street. "Gunfire, 5.56." he said to himself. Keeping a low profile and sticking to the shadows, he roadie ran along the walls down the road to the gunfire. He slid to a stop behind a flipped burning car and saw a man with a gun in a small high rise apartment who looked to be in distress.

Xavier saw a man run towards a flipped car, he was going to fast to be a zombie. "Help me out of here! I'm stuck!" He was screaming, he wanted to get out of here, ten magazines left, fridge almost out. Fucking zombies scratching at the door, day in and day out. They'd eventually break the door in half, he knew that. The scratches almost kept him up at night, almost. But he was too much of a man for such a thing to effect him, for fear to affect him.

Manfreid was stumped. He could either move on with his mission or save the man. "Fuck it." he said to himself. He removed a phosphorus grenade from his vest and pulled the pin then sent it sailing into the crowd of zombies at the front door of the high rise. The grenade went off, releasing a cloud of white phosphorus that flash burnt the zombies near the door. He took out the SCAR-LCQC and roadie ran to the apartment and kicked down the now burnt door. He then took in his surroundings. He was in the lobby and there was another door to get to the tenant's rooms. To his left were some mailboxes near an overhang to the second floor. Manfreid climbed on top of the mailboxes and jumped up to the overhand, pulling himself over the railing. "Where are you?" he yelled to the stranded man.

"Second floor!" Xavier's voice grew increasingly calm. He remembered Afghanistan, the real bodies, of living, real men. "Room 14A! Zombies are at my fuckin' door!" He packed his ten magizines and food into his fanny packs and bookbags, loaded full. His knife was ready to kill, or cut off a zombies head, since he didn't believe he could 'kill' them.

"Hold on!" yelled Manfreid as he ran down the hall and took out his Saiga-12 Auto 12G. He turned the corner to see a group of zombies clawing at the man's door. He shouldered the shotgun and unloaded four rounds at the group, dismembering if not killing most of them. He walked over and picked up a heavy metal lamp off a table and walked over to the writhing zombies. "It is safe now." he said to the man in the room as he crushed heads with the lamp.

Corporal Alex Lansing held his XM8 Battle Rifle close as he heard distant gunshots. He thought about checking it out but decided against it. They gotta be dead by now, he thought as he sat in the abandoned National Guard post. He pulled a small crumpled photograph from his pocket and looked at it. His wife gazed back at him. Last he heard she was at the Chesterson Community Center. Alex squeezed his eyes shut. I'm gonna find you, baby. Don't worry.

The man he had saved at least had a gun. A good start in Manfreid's eye's. "I am Manfreid Rorsch. I am in this town to recieve several samples scattered thruoght the area. After that I am heading to a safe place outside town. I am willing to take you along if you are up to the challenge." Manfreid looked down at a zombie grabbing at his foot. He brought up his boot and smashed its head across the floor. "And you are?"

"I was in... in the real war with Afghanistan. When the ten thousand Talibans went coventional." Xavier shuddered at the thought. "I don't care if I die, I owe you. But, I need a promise." He closed his eyes and put his arms on Manfried's shoulder. "Shoot me in the head if they bite me, no matter what I say. Please, just waste one bullet, even if it's your last." Xavier's body, very strong and tense broke down, relaxed after the mental stress had gone away.

Manfreid was glad the man standing in front of him was a professional soldier. "They won't bite you." he said. "I give you my word that I will do everything in my power to make sure that both of us leave this place alive. How much food do you have? We may need to ransack a few of these apartment rooms before we leave."

"A week of one meal a day, shit. Just like the Marines." Xavier laughed at his own, sad, joke. "About a thousand carbs a day for seven days, not enough if we're going to be running. I think we should go to the National guard outpost to pick up some supplies. Maybe even a few soldiers." He glanced to the other rooms. "Watch it though, a family member might of goten infected and gotten his whole family infected after they locked their doors." His facial expression grew sad, again.

Alex managed to find and commandeer one of the remaining humvees. He drove through town at 30 mph, fast enough to clear the zombies but slow enough to catch any survivors. Maybe the gunman he heard earlier was still alive. BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! Four rounds, large caliber. They seemed to come from inside the nearby apartment building. He stopped the vehicle in front of the building, drew his Beretta M9, and shot nearby zombies. He turned back to the building. "Hello!" he shouted. "U.S. Army! Is anybody in there!"

He considered his options momentarily. "We musn't travel in large groups." he said. "I am hesitant to bring along some National Guardsmen who are most likely of the Gung-ho type. The first objective for me is a bakery not far from here. I think we should be able to stock up on bread and other supplies once we reach it. Let's move out" The two men hopped back over the rail down to the first floor and moved outside. "The key is to be quick and quiet. We must only kill when necessary. Also, since I have a supressed gun, let me fire the first shots."

Xavier heard a man screaming. "Do you hear that man? I hear fucking car exhaust too!" He looked around, zombies were being attracted to a noise nearby, but not to them. "Fuck, it must be the National Guard, you think we should bring his ass with us? I mean, he does have some training. And an extra gun couldn't hurt. Besides, if he gets 'Gung-ho', we can just kill him or let him make a distraction."

Crack.

One down. He's out, head's a bloody mess of brain matter and gore, a smoking hole in his forehead. Release the charging handle, slide it back and watch the spent, smoking cartridge fall onto the concrete. Push it back into place, and a fresh .308 round gets slammed into the breech. I watch a nearby column of smoke, pouring out of an auto wreck. Looks like a light easterly. Better adjust my sights for it.

Then, she, at least, I think it was a she, crawls out. Her face is seared from the smoldering gasoline fires, and her dress is a black pockmarked mess. Even in this hellish haze, she spots me, dropping what's left of her mutilated jaw and letting loose a chilling moan, a howl that carries on for blocks. My crosshair, a mil-dot design, settles on its target, making a slight left-handed shift in direction. She was probably a looker, I think to myself, her eyes tell me that much. Even as she stumbles towards me like a drunkard, I can tell she once had a prissy swagger, an air of confidence about her.

They say Death's the great equalizer, and as I begin to press the trigger down with my gloved finger, I can't help but agree.

Crack.

The .308 round rips past the speed of its report, fifty one millimeters of pure hollow-pointed death. It's a tracer round, with a small piece of magnesium burning bone white in the darkness. Less than a second later, she impacts, brittle bone and rotting flesh being spewed in all directions as the abomination 's legs carry it another few steps before crumbling in a heap on the bloody streets below.

That's five, and I'm all out, the last round of my rifle ammunition lodged in the cranial cavity of a no-longer living corpse. I grin to myself confidently. Without my rifle, it's doubtful I'd be able to pick them off from this roof, and with but a forty-five and blade left to protect myself with, it's doubtful I'll remain a member of this world for much longer.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to play the hand I'm given. I run my hand down the side of my jeans, gently pulling the metal instrument out of its cowhide holster. Even in this nightmare, she still shines brightly, a beacon of hope, of hope for the future, hope for better days, and hope for an end.

Rap, rap, rap!

Probably a whole gang of them, fists beaten to the bone, yet still going on forever, like the hellspawn they are. I consider for a moment attempting to fight them off. My 1911 had seven rounds loaded, and there's probably twice that. Am I really going to take on a half dozen of these things with a K-Bar and my fist?

Doubtful.

So I laugh.

I laugh like a fucking schoolboy, cackling madly as I raise the cold steel muzzle to my temple. I shiver slightly, a freezing instrument of death against my wet, shaking skin.

I let out one last defiant laugh.

Crack.

Alex fired, dropping more zombies. It seemed like after he shot one, two more appeared to replace it. He didn't have much time. He was almost completely surrounded. "HELLO!" he yelled back at the apartment building "Anybody there?"

No response. Screw this shit, he thought. He gunned the engine and floored it, running down several zombies and slamming past a burnt-out car.

Alex tried to keep the speed up, but abandoned cars in the middle of the street made it difficult. Thank god for the brushguard. He wasn't about to ditch this vehicle. It was armored, it was packed with weapons, ammo, MRE's, and water jugs. Not to mention it was his only way he was getting out of this town.

He had to find Alice first. He stopped in front of the community center and looked around. No zombies... for the moment. He got out and went inside to look for his wife. Come on, babe, be okay...

He searched the corridors, his XM8 shouldered. He saw a lot of blood, but no bodies. Not a good sign. He suddenly heard a rustling behind him. He whipped around and came face-to-face with his undead wife. Half of her face had been eaten away. His eyes widened in horror. "Oh, God, no!"

She approached him, uttering a slight groan. Alex raised his rifle and said, "Alice... I'm sorry." With that he pulled the trigger, blowing her head clean off.

He had to keep clear. He was a soldier. He couldn't let his emotions get the better of him. Swallowing his grief, Alex left the community center and drove to into the suburbs of the town. No zombies in sight, he pulled the vehicle to the side and switched off the engine. Confident that no one could break through the humvee's shatter-proof windows, he put his arms behind his head and fell into a deep sleep....

"Its the end of the world as we know it..

Its the end of the world as we know it

It's the end of the world as we know it... and I feel fine.."

"Hey Mr. Macbaine, you don't mind if we make a rest stop on this accent do you?"

"Not at all friend, I could use a pint and some stretching."

....

The old Cadillac rolled into the town in the middle of the day. What was weird to the two men inside was that there wasn't anyone around. At all. They got a few blocks into the town and stopped by a local bar. The driver got out first. He was a traveling salesman selling insurance. Actually he used to work for a big insurance company working overseas but failed so miserably he was stuck selling insurance to sharecroppers and the like in the Midwest and north where America was still somewhat wild. He had an uncanny resemblance to the lawyer in Jurassic park. He got out of the car, keys in hand and calmly walked into the bar.

"Ooo my shoe's untied." said the passenger. He was a Scotsman and a burly one at that. If you saw him you'd think he was a white 6'4" Gimli..with red hair. The man was a traveling performer and a die hard enthusiast in Scottish weaponry, and also a master in the use of them. He finished tying his shoe and looked out the window just intime to see the man who was giving him a ride run out of the bar hysterically,

"AHHH!!!! Ahhh!!!!! Ahhhhhmmmgghheee!!!!!!!!!"

The salesman ran with his arms flailing out of the bar. He looked like a complete lunatic. But behind him was a wall of the undead chasing him into the street. The salesman got a block down when zombies shot out from the buildings surrounding him. Evidently they waited for him to get out of the car before attacking.

The Scotsman, Airth, had been watching dumbstruck when the man ran out. But now he was hustling out the door. He ran to the trunk, lucky it was unlocked, and pulled out his gear. He took out his straps first and harnessed them to his body. It would be necessary for the amount of weapons he planned on carrying. Airth looked back over his shoulder. The poor devil was running in circles in the intersection.

Just done bloody come my way... Airth thought to himself.

Done. Last harness fastened on. Now for the weapons. First my throwing axes. Heh, they always make the croud cheer....There I got them on. Now ma' real Axe. - Airth pulled out a massive double-headed 2-handed axe. A strong man could behead a polar bear with it. He put that on his back. - Ah me good old Leinswind. - Next Airth pulled out an intimidating 5 foot long claymore. Bainsword was its name. A family heirloom and in perfect combat condition. Finally...the salesman was starting to tire out and was fighting off zombies biting his shoulders and arms...a Remington 870 Express. Airth filled the gun with rounds and pumped the first into the chamber. He then pulled out a pouch, quite heavy actually. It was stuffed with 87 shotgun shells. he strapped it to his battle harness and turned around.

"Poor, poor man. Beloved Mary bless his soul." Airth said in a thick accent. He kissed his cross and was about to head out when he remembered something.

"Ooo ma' targe!"

Airth took his Scottish sheild out of the trunk. He hooked it onto his back over his battle-axe and claymore and turned around to a gruesome sight some 280 yards infront of him. He watched as Bob Henderson was ripped limb from limb, intestines astrewed and tossed in the air, and eaten alive. Body still squirming as it was devoured. Airth let out a grunt in protest.

"Hmph!..."

He shut the trunk.

Thud!

It made a louder sound than he thought it would. The zombies all turned in unison towards him. Blood dripping from their mutilated jaws. They began moving towards him.

"SHIT.."

The hummer streaked through town peacefully. It wasn't before long that a bunch of zombies started to chase his car. If I keep using my car, I'm probably not going to make it if I get out of gas thought John. He slow the car to the left and then came to a dead stop. No zombies waiting for him. John cautiosly, got out of the car and sprinted silently as the zombies attacked the car.

A Couple of Days Ago

Grant Whitfield walked down the abandon street. He had just finished up baseball practice, but had stayed a little longer to practice on his hitting. Now it seemed like most people had gone to bed. Checking his watch it was 11:26 P.M. Grant was tired and was going to get some food, then quickly go to school. Stopping for a moment he thought he heard some shuffle.

"Is there anyone out there?"

Only dead silence answered his question. Continuing down the street, he started to quicken his pace. He could feel that something was following him. Hearing a trash can fall, Grant turned around. Sweat glisten on his forehead as he took off his baseball cap. A lone person was lying next to a trash can. Quickly Grant ran over to help the person.

"Are you all right, sir?"

The man only responded with a grunt. The man turned over to reveal a large wound on his chest. Grant looked at the man.

"Sir, I need to take you to the hospital."

Putting down his bag, Grant got closer to the man. The man slowly got up and tackled Grant to the ground. Grant tried to push the man off, but the man kept on trying to bite him. Grant's hand tried to reach for his bag, but it was too far away. Gathering his strength, Grant kicked the man off and franticly opened his bag. Grant's hand entered the bag and returned with a baseball bat.

"Sir, you need to calm down."

Now that Grant had a better view of the man, he could see the blood around the man's mouth. The man slowly moved toward him.

"Sir, if you don't back off I'm going to hit you with this baseball bat."

The man only responded with a grunt and continued his assault. Grant gathered his nerves and swung the bat. He could hear the man's ribs crack, but the man only stumbled for a moment and continued toward him.

"What the hell..."

Grant swung the bat and the man fell down again, but quickly got up. Finally Grant swung the bat at the man's head. He could hear the man's head crack. The body fell to the ground as blood oozed out of the man's broken head. Grant's body was frozen. He had just killed a man. Looking around he saw the light's of houses turn on. Without thinking he ran and did not stop until he got to his house.

Opening the door he saw the blood splattered all over his bat. Luckily both of his parents were away on some kind of business trip. Dropping the bat, Grant fell to the floor. What had he done? Grant knew that he could not last in jail. Getting a glass of water, he sat back down on a couch. He needed to collect his thoughts. As he thought he heard a scream. Running to the window, he peeked threw the blinds. He saw two figures, but one of the figures was crawling on the ground. The figure that was walking was gaining on the crawling person. The walking figure lunged forward and started to attack the crawling person. A scream of terror echoed threw the street.

Grant saw the walking figure had something in his head. Opening the door to get a better look, he saw that it was dripping red; it was a torn piece of human flesh. The walking figure was eating the crawling person. Grant ran and closed the door. Locking it up, he saw people return to their homes or go to the walking figure. The people were quickly attacked by the walking figure. Grant saw more people, but they were acting like the walking figure. Quickly anyone on the street was attacked. The people outside were getting ripped to pieces. Grant closed the blinds.

What was happening outside? It was not good news. This whole thing was like something out of a movie. The people were acting like zombies. Grant knew that he better get a real weapon. Going to his dad's office, Grant found the gun rack. Only one gun was on the gun rack, a Winchester Model 70. Finding the key, Grant opened up the gun rack and took the Winchester. Finding the a couple of bullets he loaded one into the Winchester. Frantically looking around he found a box, on the side that said .243 Winchester and must of had 50 bullets, filled with bullets. Putting the gun and box of ammo on the desk, he opened a nearby closet. He entered the closet and returned a big backpack. Grant put the ammo into one of the sections and grabbed the Winchester. Entering the kitchen he opened the pantry and took bags of chips, bottles of water, and other food. As he was about to leave, he took the keys of the truck. His father and him often took hunting trips, but had not in a while.

Turning the lights of the garage on, one truck was sitting there. There were two empty spots for his parent's cars. Opening the door, he put the Winchester and backpack on the passenger side. Starting up the truck and closing the door, Grant wondered where to go. Quickly thinking, he thought of going to where Jackson worked, a close friend. Jackson and Grant had been friends since they were five years old. Jackson often worked late nights at a nearby Wal-Mart type store. Slowly the garage's door went up. The people were still feeding on the corpse's people. The light blared right into their faces. The zombies stared at the truck.

Grant pushed down the gas and roared out of the garage. Turning he hit a couple of the zombies, but they got back up. Heading toward the store he started to notice there was barely any cars on the road.

Five minutes later he was in front of the store. Grabbing his Winchester and backpack, he opened the truck's door. The place appeared to have no zombies. The store looked like it was going to close soon. Only Jackson's car remained. Once his feet hit the ground and the truck's door closed, Grant ran as fast as his fee would carry himself. Grant got to the store's front door and banged on them. A boy about his age appeared.

"Jackson let me in."

"Why do you have gun, Grant?" responded the boy.

"Jackson just let me in, please!"

Jackson knew that he could trust Grant. Quickly Jackson fumbled to get the right keys. Opening the door, Grant entered and Jackson locked up the front door.

"Grant what is happening out there?"

Grant retold the story of what had happened so far.

"Grant I believe you, but it is so unbelievable."

"Jackson we need to barricade ourselves in this place, so those things do not get us. Then afterwards you need to find a good weapon, but let's lock this place up."

Grant and Jackson went to all the doors and made sure they were all locked up, and then formed a barricade around the front door. Once they were done Grant changed out of his baseball uniform and into more comfortable cloths. Grant met up with Jackson again and they both went to the gun section of the store. Grant took anymore of the .243 Winchester ammo and a 9mm pistol. Jackson took a shotgun and a .357 magnum.

"I'm pretty beat Jackson. I think we should try to get some sleep, but let’s have an hour shift of watching the front doors. Okay?"

Jackson nodded and went off to the front door. Both of the boys took their shifts, until the sun rose. Grant stood on the roof and noticed a couple of them were coming to the store. He felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around he pointed the 9mm at the person, but it was only Jackson. Jackson had a cup of coffee in his hand along with a Pop-Tart.

"Here I know that you must be hungry."

Grant took the coffee and took a sip, then wolfed down the Pop-Tart.

"Thanks. Those things just keep on coming."

"I wonder why they come here."

"Maybe instinct Jackson. I do not know. Let me test something first. These things do not go down without a fight."

Picking up his Winchester, Grant looked threw the scope. He aimed for the thing's head. Pulling the trigger the bullet whizzed by the thing's head. His hand grabbed another bullet and he reloaded. Grant was a little rusty from his last hunt. Aiming Grant paused for a moment. Pulling the trigger again, the bullet entered the thing's head. It plopped to the ground and did not get up.

"Aim for the head."

Grant put the gun back down.

"I say we hold out here, until someone comes to get us."

OH F#%^ thought John. There was a large car pileup blocking his path up ahead. He drew his two Desert Eagles and turned around and saw a group a zombies 40 meters away. He quickly sprinted and climbed over a fence of a nearby house that seemed to be clear of zombies.

The two men silently ran towards the bakery to avoid the zombies. As they neared the bakery, Manfreid saw a gruesome sight. Ahead of them, there was someone hanging from a noose out their balcony over the sidewalk. Below, a large group of zombies clawed at the ody trying to knock it down and consume it. "That's fucking disgusting." he said.

"You filthy motherfuckers!!" Airth turned and ran like all hell away from the charging hoard. He downed only one of them from this range - a lucky buckshot to the head.

Now the zombies were starting to come out in full force. Airth thought to himself that they were waiting for him and Bob to stop. He ran by a gas station. There inside the convenience store was a horde of zombies eating the remains of what used to be people barricaded inside. When they heard the shotgun they all came out.

"Not Good!"

In a split second decision Airth put a few rounds into the station. The whole thing lit up like a giant roman candle, nearly singing his beard. Good news; the zombies in the store were redead. Bad news, the explosion had attracted every zombie in a couple city blocks towards it.

He reached into his pouch to put some more rounds in his gun. Infront of him a zombie fell out the second story window of a building and started sprinting towards him. How something with decayed muscle tissue could run was anyone's guess. Without hesitation the weapon's enthusiast took one of his throwing axes from the side of his jeans and sent it spiraling into the front of the zombie's head. The thing just dropped.

Fully reloaded Airth cocked a round in and picked up his axe. He wanted to get the hell out of there but unbeknownst to him.... he was running toward the center of town.

A loud BOOM jolted Alex awake. He got out of the humvee to see a large fireball rising several miles away. What now, he thought. Whatever it was, zombies were gonna be attracted to it like moths to a light.

Something moved behind him. He turned around to face a zombie about 10 feet away. Alex instinctively drew his M9 and shot the creature in the head. Then got back in his humvee, started the engine, and drove away from the burning site.

She's dead. My Alice is dead. And I'm stuck in a world of monsters...

Alex kept on driving because he didn't dare do much else. But he had to get out of town somehow. Maybe if he found an plane or a helicopter. But the outpost didn't have any aircraft left and he knew the emergency personnel of the city never kept a chopper. It was simply not needed.

Driving down a residential street, Alex spotted a hummer parked in front of one of the houses. It wasn't there when he drove through here last night.

Stopping the humvee behind the other vehicle, he got out and shouldered his XM8 and approached the house. He crouched as he saw movement within the house. "Hey! Is someone in there?" he called to whoever--or whatever--was inside.

Melissa eventually struggled away from the strange man that had saved her life. She stopped, dead in the middle of the street panting from exhausting. He stumbled to a stop, his top abdomen falling against his thighs. He was in a deep pant, sweat boiling in the cool temperature.

"Damn...damn damn damn!" He yelled under the heavy breathing, although it came out as a mere whisper. He couldn't hear the shuffling feet anymore, the obnoxious moans, the trampling of many mangled beings. Looking all around him self now, he decided it was safe to continue at a slower pace. He sprinted for more than two miles, which was nothing compared to is days as a soldier. Airborne was made to run for miles and miles.

"Shit..." he was still breathing in a rough motion, removing the clip from his firearm. Only a few bullets were left, eight had been spent. Eight lousy bullets, what a fucking waste...then there was a shout. No, a scream...a shriek. He reloaded the clip into his gun, and ran to where the sound came from. 'HELP, OH GOD HELP ME' was all he could hear. He emerged onto a large street, looking around him aimlessly. The scream came again, and he wasn't sure where.

"WHERE ARE YOU?!" It was helpless, almost as desperate as the screaming. However, there wasn't a response. Just silence, and the shuffling again. A stalky looking man emerged from a broken in window, bloodied beyond all hell. He felt hopeless in this new world, more helpless than he had ever hoped to have felt. Raising his pistol, he closed his eyes.

"What a bastard I've become..." he mumbled softly to himself, and turned the opposite way...

A Couple of Days Ago

Grant woke up and slowly got out of the bed. He had made a crude gun belt in the last couple of days. The belt held his 9mm pistol and it was good enough for him. Putting on a pair of pants, then he put the gun belt on. The store was in an orderly fashion. The pair of boys had not messed up the store that much, besides setting up an entertainment place, to watch movies and play video games. Walking by the entertainment section he saw the stack of all the movies they had watched. On the screen of the TV was the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet. Jackson was the last one to choose a movie and had decided on that movie.

About two days ago Jackson had gotten bitten by one of those things. Jackson had been careless and accidental attacked. His health had been grown worse every hour. Grant tried to take care of him, but it was no avail. As everyday passed it seemed as though no one was coming for them.

Grant turned the corner and ended up near Jackson's "room". Walking up Jackson's bed, he shook Jackson under the covers. Jackson did not move. Grant removed the covers and checked Jackson's pulse. Grant's fingers felt nothing.

"No...Jackson."

Grant put the covers over Jackson and collapsed to the floor. Tears rolled down his cheek. His hands were clenched into a fist. Getting up he punched a nearby wall.

"Jackson..."

The covers went upright in the shape of a body. The covers fell off of Jackson's body. Jackson had become one of them. The Former Jackson shuffled toward Grant.

"Jackson?"

Grant heard a noise, and quickly turned around. He was immobilized as he looked at what use to be Jackson. Jackson knocked Grant to the ground and pinned him. Grant tried to grab for the pistol, but he had to keep himself from getting bitten. He threw Jackson off and grabbed his pistol. Pulling the trigger repeatedly, he finally killed the monster. Blood was all over the place. Getting the covers he wrapped up Jackson. Grant grabbed his pistol and put it up to his temple. There was no more reason to live. He pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. Grant kept on pulling the trigger, but only a click. The pistol fell to the ground.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?"

Grant collected the pistol and cleaned up the mess. He remembered how Jackson told him how he wanted to be buried. Getting the body he built a small pyre on the roof. Grant lighted Jackson's body a fire. A stereo was on max and played The Lonely Shepherd. Grant saw and watched his good friend turn to ashes.

"Good bye old friend."

Grant knew that just waiting here was going to kill him, so he needed to get the hell out of this city. As the sunset, Grant watched the embers of fire glow. He returned to the fortress the both of them had created, but only one would return.

The wind whipped through her shoulder-length hair. The bent over the gas tank of her Kawasaki, but the windshield was still too short. The only thing that kept Leah from tearing up was the pair of sungoggles she wore. Her leather jacket flapped in the wind, whipping her legs and arms. She didn't dare stop to adjust it.

Leah tasted copper from the adrenaline that was pulsing through her. It wasn't the good kind of adrenaline, either. It wasn't the euphoric rush she got from riding at high speeds. It was the kind that made her teeth grind and her muscles tremble.

The kind that would be caused by the possible disappearance of her little cousin. Leah looked down at the picture of Emma that she kept pasted on her gas tank. The two of them were in that picture, smiling, arms over each other's shoulders, on a bright summer day.

Leah looked up and had to swerve to avoid a pothole, for the hundredth time that day. She knew she shouldn't ride in this state, it would probably get her killed, especially when she didn't have a helmet. But, right up ahead, Chesterson loomed. Leah smirked and twisted the throttle a bit more. Hang on, Emma, I'm almost there...

She reached the town, going 80 MPH, and slowed down to 50. Leah was a bit unnerved: the streets were completely deserted. What the fuck? she thought, and revved the engine. Just a few blocks from Emma's house, Leah found the first person she'd seen all day.

The man just stepped right in the path of her bike, seemingly out of no where. Leah had to oversteer to avoid him, and did... but the bike lost balance in the process. It tipped over onto its side, and Leah was thrown free.

Flying through the air, flipping end over end, she felt a bit like Superman. All her troubles faded away for a second... and then she remembered that her unhelmeted self was flying over asphalt at seventy miles an hour. She brought her knees up, tucked down her head, locked herself in with her arms... and waited for the crunch.

She hit the pavement and started rolling and bouncing. The wind was knocked out of her. Each time she hit the pavement, Leah felt weaker and weaker... and eventually went limp, flopping across the ground, face and arms and legs scraping against it, eventually slowing and stopping on her back.

Leah lay there for what felt like an hour. She could barely breathe, and moving was out of the question for the time being. Two trains of thought ran through her head, simultaneously. One was a checklist of all the things that could be wrong with her. Shattered vertebrae... fractured skull... punctured lungs... hemmorhaging... ruptured spleen... The other was more important to her: it was an apology to Emma, for not being able to make it to her.

Leah assumed she would die there, on that cold street, whimpering and crying in the dark. And then she heard something: moaning. She spent all the energy she had turning her head to look for the source of the noise: it was the man that had probably killed her. Leah tried to call for help, but all she could say were pitiful half-words.

The man slowly stumbled towards her, closer and closer. Her eyes widened when she got a good look at him: he was covered in blood... and most of it was around his mouth. Leah had seen enough movies and played enough survival horror games to know that look: zombie.

She suddenly got her voice back. "Oh, Jesus... What the fuck is going on?" Leah realized what might have befallen Emma, and found new resolve. As the zombie stumbled ever closer, Leah put all her effort towards getting away from him, and towards the Remington 700 that was mounted in a cage on the side of her bike, along with the rest of her things.

Slowly, movement returned to her body. Her legs kicked and scrabbled against the pavement, awkwardly shuffling her away from the creature... but not fast enough. He grabbed one leg with both hands and slowly prepared to feast on her calf. Leah grimaced and, with a mighty heave, toe-kicked the zombie in the head. It fell to the ground, but kept moving.

"Goddammit, die!" Leah shouted. She lifted the leg he had a hold on, and slammed it down onto his temple. The creature went limp, and so did Leah, for a minute... she nearly fell asleep, spent, but more groaning made the adrenaline course through her again. With a burst of effort, she got up and hobbled towards the bike as quickly as she could. Leah fumbled with the lock for a minute, and retrieved her belongings: a rifle, and a backpack with her ammo, food, electronics, and maps.

Leah took a minute to check her bike. The front fork was bent back into the engine, the gas tank had ruptured, and the rear wheel was sheared off completely. With a sigh, Leah got her bearings and set off towards Emma's house, wary of any other zombies.

It slowly walked, quitely due to its shoes and the clearance of its path. It turned the corner, smelling Xavier's persperiation. As Xavier turned, to the wreaking smell of dry blood and death, a smell he had only smelt in such quantity... and so close. He turned and saw the undead, leap on him. His buldging muscles, which he had trained to obtain ever since he was twelve, allowed him to throw the undead body clear across the width of the alley, where he pulled out his switchblade and jumped on him, to continued his assault. He attempted to slash off the undead's, but the blade wasn't thick enough to complete the attack. He pocketed the knife, he simply smashed his fist, with the full wait of his body's strength, and impailed it. Impailed it so, Xavier's fist was covered with brain, exiting the back of the undead's skull. Ice was covering the window making it impossible to see in. On the table was a note. Manfreid walked over to it and picked it up. It read:

To whoever is reading this, my name is Frank Thompson, and I am dead. I owned this bakery with my wife of 32 years. A few days ago, my wife and I were opening the store when a man hobbled up to her and assaulted her. I kicked him away and we locked ourselves inside here. We managed to stay here for a few days after hearing about the zombies from a nieghbor. My wife was turning into one of them, but I didn't know. When she "Died" I was in horrible agony. Then it happened. She rose alive again and got me, too. I dragged her into the freezer and locked her in. I knew what would happen to me if I waited so I decided to end the agony once and for all. You can find me outside my house on the balcony. God help you.

Xavier pulled Melissa inside the bakery, ordering her to lock every door in the building. He searched the room, ignorant of the blood red ice, for a large bludgening tool, he ripped off one of the metal legs from a four-progned steel chair. He then pulled off another, making, what he crisoned, Kao-wee (sp?) sticks, of course for combat use.

Xavier turned the Manfried, whom he now saw was staring at the freezer. "You hungry too, bro?" Xavier laughed and began walking towards him, noticing the note. He read it, his face turned to an odd... joy. "Thank, god. Bastards like this got medals in the sandbox." He then looked at the freezy... woman... "I'll open it, you shoot the... thing."

He precedded and hopped over the bar, he un-locked the freezy, opening Manfried's line of view to the undead woman. It was time to kill the fucking thing, and this was a highlight, to Xavier, in this whole fucking ordeal. "Kill the fucker!" Have you had service with an elite or at least special fighting force. Before you ask, I was GSG-9 before I joined Alps Arms. Before you can be considered as a candidate, you must be able to do at least some of the aforementioned things. "I'll be back." he said to them as he left the bakery. He broke out into a full sprint towards the book store. He had on his NVG's for it was getting dark outside and he didn't want to get wanked by a rampant horde of zombies. After about five minutes of running, he made it to the store. He slid open the door and clicked on the lights. Everything was in order inside the store and he walked between the shelves over to the back room. He opened the door and moved over to a box on a desk. He cut it open and removed another vial from it with a dark crimson muck inside it. he pocketed it and turned to leave when he saw close to twenty zombies flood in through the front door. "Oh, shit!" he yelled as he slammed the back room door shut. "Oh, fuck. What the hell am I going to do." he looked around the room and ran over to a large steel rack and shoved it up against the door. Their moaning grew louder as more zombies entered the store and tried to get at him. He took in his surroundings. There was a desk, another steel rack, a few chairs and some other oddities around the room. There was an air duct above him that went to the roof and a small vent leading to the other room. He looked through the vent and saw more and more zombies moving into the store. "I guess it's through the roof." he said as he began to make a crude ladder with what he had with him.

He exited the building, he saw group after group of undead throw themselves into a buildinga few blocks down. There was a figure... Manfried. "Manfried!" Xavier yelled, intetionally drawing their attention. The zombies crept towards him, Koa-wee (sp?) sticks in hand. Ready to die, to save Manfried. He laughed at the oncoming undead. "You mother fuckers! Suck me!" His muscles were pumped as he stepped away from the bakery, towards the other side of the street. He entered an old bar, mid-western saloon style, no zombies in site. He ripped off parts of his clothes and stuffed them into the alcohal bottles. This way he made fourteen molotovs. He tossed them all towards the entrance, the undead had som intelligence and strayed just outside the reaches of the fire.

Xavier then found the backdoor, and exited quickly. He took a six blocks that were on the adjacent street to the one that the book store sat on. Alex searched the lower lower floor of the mall while John took the upper floor. Alex gave him a two-way radio so they could keep in contact. He figured there would be a lot more zombies on the first floor than the second, seeing as how all the meat-serving restaurants (which the zombies would probably be feasting on) were on the lower floor and the second was all clothes shops and such.

How 'bout a stand-up fight, Alex asked himself. He drew his M9 and fired into the air several times to attract zombies--and it seemed to be working like a charm. "What are you doing?" John said over the radio.

"Getting them together so I can give them their medicine," Alex casually replied. He holstered his M9, shouldered his XM8, and opened fire. Zombies went down rapidly one-by-one as every bullet from the XM8's drum-clip hit its mark.

After that, Alex thoroughly searched the restaurants and stores, killing any zombies he came across. He heard some shots from the upper floor. "Having fun up there?" He said into the mike on his headset radio.
"Yep. Couple snuck up on me, but I'm good."
"Just stay alert."
"This floor's all clear. There wasn't many. I double-checked everywhere."
"Alright. Check them again and let's regroup downstairs, OK?"

OCC: I would have done this sooner but I was watching a Movie. Put me in a good mood. :)

IC:

The Ferrari zoomed down the street with relative ease. Bits of loose paper flew in the car's wake.

"Whoo-Hoo!!!" Shouted a blond, loud youth, one hand in the air, the other on the steering wheel.

The road was relatively clear of cars, bodies, or debris. It was the outer suburbs after all. Just the road, the car, and the man driving it.

The car began to slow down as it neared the center of the town, more cars, bodies, and debris.

But no zombies...

"Hell they're probably all inside the buildings trying to get the hidden people." The blond said to himself. "I'm sure they'll pop up some- Oh Shit!!!"

The car swerved but did not miss the stumbling person in the road. The "man" went flying through the air and the car barley missed hitting a light pole.

The car backed up to where the "man" landed.

"Hey." Chris said. "You okay?"

The "man" stumbled up, blood dripping from his mouth and began to walk towards Chris.

Smiling, Chris replied (basically to himself) "Well we'll have to fix that." Chris pulled out a glock 22 and shot the "man" three times in the torso.

Bang*Bang*Bang*

The "man" fell but was still alive, Chris aimed the gun again and shot hte "man in the head.

Bang*

He didn't move.

"Alright." Chris said in an upbeat way and drove away.

Later

Thump*Thump*ThumpBang*Thump* The car, now badly damaged with dents, drove along the crowded streets of the inner town, hitting anything and everything in its way.

"Damn You!!" Chris exclaimed as the car hit yet another zombie. The zombie grabbed on the hood and clawed for a holding.

Chris pulled out his glock and shot the zombie in the eye.

Bang*

The car maneuvered down the street into a car garage. Chris drove it up all the way to the top. The zombies were surprisingly numerous here.

It was too risky to drive back down, too little time, gas, and attention span.

One chance. Chris thought as he revved the engine. This is going to be sweet.

The car tires screeched as the Ferrari speed into action. It drove straight through lines of zombies...

...right off the side.

The car flew through the air gracefully, for a car anyway...
Chris jumped out of the car and flew through the air. He had meant to land in a discarded mattress but flew a little too far. Chris hit the side of a gutter and continued to fall, but slower.

Just slow enough.

Chris grabbed on a flagpole near the ground, avoiding slamming into the concret.

I thought this only happens in cartoons. He thought. As if to answer him, the flagpole cracked and began to lean toward the ground, it was still to high for a zombie to reach.

That didn't stop them from trying...

A small crowd of the little bastards had began to gather around the area, clawing upwards.

Well... Crap.

Chris thought hard for a moment and came up with two options. He could drop down into the zombies hands...

...or he could scream at the top of his lungs for help....

...Number two wins.

"HELP!!!" Chris shouted, it echoed past the groans of the zombies.
Choosing some nice big words, he added.

"Some assistance would be greatly appreciated!!"

Now we wait...

Grant looked at the front door. The undead were banging on the locked doors, but they would not move an inch. The barricade was going to hold out. Sitting in a fold out chair he continued to stare at the front doors. Every since Jackson died, Grant had been trying to form a plan to get out of this place, but no good plan had been formed. As the days passed, more and more undead came to the store. They could sense that he was inside.

He grabbed into a bag of chips and ate some. Grant was starting to become very bored in this store. Boredom was starting to set in. Getting up from the chair, Grant grabbed his Winchester Model 70 and backpack filled with ammo. He needed to vent his angry and boredom some how, so he headed for the roof.

On the roof he had set up a chair, table, and a umbrella. On the table was a pair of binoculars. Sitting down he got the binoculars. Looking threw them he could clearly see the undead now. His prediction was right. More undead than yesterday. Grant wondered if there were people out there still fighting the undead. Lately it had been dead silent, except for a couple of explosions and gunfire.

Looking threw the Winchester he loaded in a new bullet. Grant calmed himself down. Pulling the trigger, a red hole appeared in a undead's head. It fell down. Slowly he put in a new bullet and restarted the whole process.

OOC: Sorry, I was kinda out of it yesterday...

Leah woke up, inhaling sharply. She looked around, confused.
Hang on... this ain't my room... Oh, hell, this is Emma's room. Leah remembered the events of the past couple hours again. After stumbling into the house, she didn't find Emma, but she did find a scrawled note in her room. It had said "Sorry, Cousin Leah. Something's wrong in town, my folks are taking me to Minneapolis for a while. Get out of here as soon as you can. Lots of love, Emma." At that point, Leah, laughing with relief, stumbled onto the bed and fell asleep.

She stood slowly, her bruised muscles restricting her movement. With a stifled yawn, she shuffled to the near bathroom. There, she splashed cold water on her face and looked into the mirror. Jesus H... she thought, as she stared. She looked somewhat like a raw hamburger. Her left eye was black, her right was a bit puffy. There were scabbed-over scrapes on a lot of her face... and her nose was crooked. With a sigh, Leah grabbed the collar of her shirt, stuck it in her mouth, and popped her nose bone back into place.

It took her a few minutes to recover from that, but afterwards, she stood, plugged her bleeding nose up with a pair of cottonballs, and walked back into Emma's room. Time to get the fuck outta Dodge. Leah grabbed her gear and managed to make it halfway across the lawn, when a massive hunger pang doubled her over. Or... maybe it's time to grab a bite. Then get the fuck outta Dodge.

Leah decided to check her motorcycle first. She'd stupidly left her food supply there. There was no point searching the house: neither Emma nor Leah could cook, so there wasn't any food in the house, except when her parents were doing something special. Which was rare.

Leah only had to get onto the same block as the bike to realise it was a lost cause: a mass of zombies were fighting for the food she'd left in the cage. It would waste too much of her ammunition to try and take it back. Instead, she left quietly, and cut across a few yards, wondering where to get food.

Leah decided on the bakery. After a few blocks of walking, she heards the distinct sounds of an urban battle in the distance. She unslung her rifle, and checked the chamber. She took a left down an alley, and was met by the sight of five zombies. Leah grimaced, went prone, and aimed down the Remington's iron sights.

Leah took carefull aim at the lead zombie's cranium, and pulled the trigger.

The small .223 round blew a small hole into the former man's cranium. The expanding bullet didn't make an exit wound. The man simply dropped, like a sack of potatoes.

Leah worked the bolt, and lined up her next shot. She did the same thing to the other three zombies. She thought the alley was clear, and slowly moved to refill her rifle's empty magazine, when she heard a groaning behind her. Leah rolled onto her stomach, and saw a zombie, less than five feet from her.

Shaken, she snatched one of the loose .223 cartridges from her pocket, flung open the bolt on her rifle, loaded the chamber, and closed the bolt, all in less than two seconds. In that time, the zombie had closed more than half the distance to Leah. It opened its mouth, and fell forward... but its jaws didn't close around warm flesh; they closed around hot gunmetal.

"Eat me." Leah pulled the trigger and kicked the corpse off of her. Making sure the alley was clear, she completely reloaded the Remington, and entered the street... right in the middle of a firefight outside the bakery. Goddamn it... Chris looked at the man who called the zombies attention away from him but couldn't get a good look at him. He had a nice gun though. It was holding the crowd of zombies a few feet away from him, they were however, advancing.

One zombie, a die-hard, was still trying to claw Chris open. Chris also saw the remains of "his" car; the ruptured gas tank was leaking a good amount of explosive liquid onto the ground.

So the car had a little more gas than Chris had thought…
…big deal.

Chris thought hard and came up with another risky idea.

gas tank...
zombies...
gun...

...Bingo...

Chris let go of the flagpole and landed, feet first, onto the chest of the die-hard zombie. It let out a surprised groan as it fell to the concrete. A few from the group of zombies noticed his landing and turned to face him.

Chris jumped again, from an angle, into the air. He aimed his pistol (which he had somehow managed to not drop) and fired at the gas tank of "his" former car.

It was basically a huge Matrix rip off.

As Chris landed behind a small wall of concrete as the bullet hit the tank. A huge fireball of an explosion rippled through the air.

Zombies must not like bright lights...
...or flames...
...or shockwaves...

The zombies closest to the explosion flew through the air, each one letting out its own version of a pissed-off yell. About half of them weren't moving anymore. The zombies that were still alive began to stagger up and face Chris.

Chris, standing now, looked as many zombies as he could in the eye.

"Bring it on." Chris said, aiming his pistol at a zombie to his left.

"Join in anytime you feel like it." He also shouted to the man that helped him.

He was about halfway there when he heard a loud, deep roar come from a small loading dock to his left. "What the fuck?" he said as he drew out his Saiga-12 and loaded a mag filled with slugs. When the white phosphorus gas erupted from the grenade, the beast let out the loudest, most blood-curtling scream Manfreid had ever heard. The superheated air then ignited the gas fumes, which in turn ignited the whole gas station and a large propane container near it. The explosion launched Manfreid through the air onto the windshield of a Chevrolet Suburban, knocking him out. The last thing he saw before the blackout was the huge mushroom cloud and the hundreds of pieces of flesh falling from the sky. And there he lay, half dead, sprawled across the hood of a car.

Leah took down another zombie, operated the bolt, took aim, and was about to fire... when she realised that she was aiming at a real, living woman, not undead.

She shifted her aim slightly and took down a zombie that was reaching for the girl. The creature fell with an audible thud, and Leah scanned for any immediate threats to either of them, then addressed her.

"I dunno who you are, but you're either very brave or very crazy. Is the bakery safe?"

OOC: Wait... is there a Tyrant in the middle of the street or something? Kinda confusing...

The explosion caused the slow moving dead to head towards the now non-existant station. "Manfried!" Xavier screamed, he ran towards him, his legs propelling him like the combustion in the catridge of a bullet that causes it to do so much damage to the human body. He was wrote by Manfried, the dead a full hundred meters away from them. Soon the undead would be upon them, but Xavier would protect Manfried to the last bullet, or atleast use the last bullet to kill Manfried and allow him not to be the putrifing beasts.

Brendan enjoyed having a partner at his back. It reminded him of his days on the force. After what seemed like ten minutes from the car's explosion, there was another explosion off in the distance followed by gunshots.

"Come on! We're going to the center of town."
"That's stupid. Gunshots means more zombies."
"Gunshots also means more people."

Brendan waited for the man's reply. He was going into town anyway but he knew it would be good to have a partner.

As Brendan scanned the area for a safer route, he saw a bar.

"Another route won't be necessary. You can hold them off for a few minutes by yourself?"

Brendan had to shoot 2 zombies on his way to the bar. 2 zombies who used to be his neighbors. As this awful revelation hit him,, a zombie came from behind and managed to bite him. The surprise caused him to fall. In his panic Brendan fired a full clip at the zombie almost every shot missing. However the last shot slammed through the zombies head. Brendan got up and continued to run towards the bar.

The bar was strangely deserted. Brendan found what he came for and quickly fashioned a Molotov cocktail. On his way out he found some more handgun ammo and a Ruger .22.

The young man had managed to hold out while he was gone. Brendan threw the Molotov cocktail into the crowd.

" Now we just wait for it to stop burning and then we run to the center of town. Got it?"

Brendan tried to act like everything was fine but the wound on the back of his neck burned and he was beginning to become dizzy.

Airth was shooting wildly now. Attracting even more and more zombies to him. A person observing from the roof of a building would be able to notice this.

Then finally it happened. It dawned on Airth's thick head that maybe the shotgun blasts were attracting the zombies.

Ohhhh......

There were 20 of the creatures advancing towards him. He was in the middle of another intersection. Some how he had managed to escape the lot of them after slinging his 12 guage. He got to a dead end, now breathing slightly heavily. Airth took out his battleaxe and twirled the heavy weapon round and round his back using his huge muscular arms.... sumptuous apetizers for the bloodthirsty zombies. But this meal wouldn't be that easy.

Without warning one of the zombies charged forward...well more like a fast limp, but a charge in the zombie's eyes nonetheless. With almost no effort the Scotsman cleaved the zombies body in half. The upper body still tried to grab his feet. He stomped on it effectively making the undead the redead. Or something like that. Then the rest of the zombies charged towards him. Since the battle axe was long and 2 sided he could easily do melee combat with zombies and not get bitten if he was careful.

In a short 15 seconds the street was littered with the decapitated remains of 20 zombies. One sweaty man with a bigass axe stood over them.

Airth made his way past them looking for a way out and this time being more careful. He couldn't call out for help or he would attract more zombies. And as far as he knew no one was left alive. He ransacked a convenience store for some water and some energy bars and continued on.

Grant stared blankly at the security monitors. Slowly he went threw each monitor. It looked as it would usually. Coming to the monitors he took notice of the undead crowded around the front door. He drank some water from a disposable cup. The undead were banging on the front door trying to get inside. In the distance he saw smoke come from the center of the town. Grabbing his Winchester Model 70, Grant made his way up to the roof.

Making it up to the roof he grabbed a pair of binoculars. Slowly he scanned the area of the town. Grant thought he saw something move. Closing in on the area he saw some people running away from the undead. Grant knew that he needed to show the people that this area was somewhat safe. Quickly he grabbed a nearby flare gun, in case any helicopter came. Then he pointed the flare gun into the air, and pulled the trigger. The flare flew into the darken sky. Grant hoped that these survivors could see the flare.

Quickly he made a sign, saying 'COME AROUND BACK. I WILL OPEN THE BACK ENTRANCE'. Grant made the sign hang in front of the store. He ran down the pair of stairs and got the pair of keys. Grant waited by the door to see if anyone came.

Xavier saw his commander make it inside and turned to the approaching undead, fifty meters away. He knew about two hundred of them were coming at him right now, about five percent of the population living in the small town. "Die you undead fuckers." He said, in a low, calm voice. He crouched and aimed his gun, making sure each round would hit their heads as he fired of his clip of thirty rounds, dropping thirty undead. He reloaded the round and continued this ritual, in eight minutes he had dropped ninety undead, but they were 10 meters from him now. He knew he was going to die if he didn't do something quick, plus the zombie horde was growing. "I'll blast a hole threw you fuckers." He chose a weak point in the zombie horde, the center. There the ranks were only eight undead thick. He blew them away by waisting a single clip. He had five clips left. He dashed threw the hole, making it clear as the undead turned their heads and looked at him, slowly, monsteroiusly stepping towards him.

IC: Chris walked down an alley towards the flare. He was looking over his shoulder every two steps. On the way to the town center, Chris got separated from the other man by a group of zombies. By the time he killed them all, the man was gone.

Maybe the flare was from him...
Doubt it, But you never know...

After some amount of walking, (with only a few zombies that Chris snuck past) which seemed like a few minutes, he reached a building that had some sparks falling onto it from the sky.

This must be it.
Chris thought.

Some zombies were banging on the door to the building.

"Hey." Chris said to the zombies. They turned and started to stagger over to him.

Chris raised his gun, aiming, and pulled the trigger.

"Damn! Out of bullets!" Chris reached into his pocket for another clip but found nothing.

Where are the rest of my clips? he thought frantically.

Wait...
....they were in the Ferrari...
...and I blew up the Ferrari...
...
.........
..............
...crap....

Chris threw the useless gun at one of the zombies. It bounced off without so much as a scratch. Chris looked around for something, anything to use. He settled on a discarded fire axe. Probably left from the now nonexistent firefighting force.

Chris then charged the zombies, letting out a small yell.

After a few seconds of complete madness, Chris stood over the remains of about nine zombies. It was kind of hard to count them now.

Chris walked over to the door and saw a quickly written sign.

'COME AROUND BACK. I WILL OPEN THE BACK ENTRANCE'

Works for me. Chris thought.

Just as he began to turn, a sharp growl caused him to stop abruptly. He slowly turn to face a zombified dog. Its belly was torn open, revealing bloodied, hanging intestine and part of the stomach. The face also had some claw mark across one eye. It snarled at him and prepared to leap at him.

"Bring it on fluffy." Chris said as he braced himself for the attack.

Xavier waited, waited as the undead spilt themselves into two groups. One group was heading towards the men that helped me destroy much of the undead horde, the other... the other was coming for him. He smirked at them and ran towards an old abondanded fire station. He didn't expect any survivors, so he hefted himself up the pole, noticing the destroyed stair well... some, living, human must of done that. "Holy shit! Fred, look! A survivor!" A young fire fighter said, in a low tone, as to not attract any undead.

Xavier looked puzzled, were they really alive? The older fire man, Fred, Xavier deducted, there seemed to be only two left, had not said a word. "Didn't expect to see survivors. Are there any policemen left? Any other fire fighters?" Xavier took a swing at hope.

"No." Fred replied, a low scruffy voice. It led Xavier to believe they had no supplies left, especially water. "We had seventeen here, twelve policemen, two rescue workers, and three figher fighters." He coughed, gasping for some of the air's mosture to realive his dry hell. "All of them said, 'We can kill the zombies! We got guns! They walk slow as hell!'." He raspily laughed, "Bull shit. They're probably all dead, now."

Xavier didn't believe it, if there was a group of fifteen men with guns they had to atleast have found out that they needed to hide in a place with supplies, of course half of them have probably joined the undead. "Damn." Xavier paused mornfully. "Do you have any supplies?" The two men shook their heads, despair retook their faces. "Guns?" They nodded, still despair controlled their demeanor. "Fuck, my ribs." he mumbled. He tried again, this time ignoring the pain and got to his feet. His mouth tasted like dry blood, which his spit confirmed. "I need a drink." he said as he walked over to a door. It opened and a boy stood in front of him. "Fuck!" he yelled as he grabbed the kid's shirt collar and stuck the ICQB in front of his face.

Leah walked down the hall, and saw Manfried threatening the kid they found in the building. "Manfried, let 'im go and have a drink!" she shouted and tossed one of the 12 oz. bottles of water she'd found in the building.

"Melissa's here with us. The kid's still missing. He may be dead, but maybe not. We found a small stockroom here. We've got water, a bit of food, and a little more ammo for this and your gun. Enough to make it to whoever sent up that flare, whenever you're ready."

Xavier had spent the day trying to get Fred, and Kyle, the younger fireman, to go with him and find his commander, Manfried. He had succeded, the sad part was, limitations on their weapon stock pile. A Remington 870, with thirty-three shells, Fred's gun, and a Glock 17, which belong to Kyle. The glock had four clips, not including the one in the reciever.

Xavier and his band of refugees exited the firestation, sliding down the pole. They were in the middle of the round, the group of undead that Xavier had shot his way threw just several hours before was not waiting outside the door of where his friends had set up residence. This was a blessing in disguise, Xavier knew where his friends were. "Alright, you see that group of about eighty undead, right by that door?" Both his companions nodded. "Alright, we're guna taken em' on." Their hopes dropped. "Don't fire unless they get close to you. I've got the real gun, here." He showed them his FS2000.

The slowly made their way, fifty meters away from the group, Xavier opened fire. Each on of his bullets, yes all thirty, met their mark, an undead's head. Now only fifty stood, he reloaded his clip and fired another volley, twenty-eight undead fell. The twenty-two remaining undead creeped towards the small band of brothers. "Alright, bash them!" He said to his group, quietly. They ran at the enemy, forcing their heads into a pulp-like substance. All dead and none of them had been bitted.

The group walked towards the sign, and they quickly went to the back, where they knocked at the door and whispered to be let in.

Melissa poured one of the bottles of water over her head, somewhat cleaning away the sweat and dirt that had collected in it the past few days. She walked up to the back door and put her ear up to it. Leah heard whispering... it was Xavier's voice. With a grin and a sigh of relief, she flung open the door, to let them in. Leah gave the alley behind a quick scan, before turning back to Melissa.

"Sorry, Melissa. You were gonna say something?" Leah looked at her inquisitively...

Kicking open the door he was ready to fire his pistol. Seeing that it was three other surviors, Grant pushed them inside, then quickly locked the door.

After listening to what he said, she replied, "Good. Yeah, that's really great. Alright, so, we've got a choice ahead of us: we can either find those guys, or we can go to whoever fired that flare last night. What d'you guys think we should do?"

Shit! John was cornered in the fitting room. Alex crouched near the entrance of the clothes shop, watching the monster attempt to pry his way in. What the fuck is that? Where did it come from? Alex thought. "Alex, where the hell are you?!" John yelled from inside the small room as he repeatedly fired his handgun at the beast to no effect.

Alex was choked up in fear. You hesitate, people die, He remembered his drill sergeant telling him. But he couldn't. He had to do something--now.

"ALEX!" John yelled as his gun clicked empty.

Alex quickly attached the grenade launcher to his XM-8, jumped out of his hiding pot and said, "Hey, fuck-face!!"

The monster turned.

"EAT THIS!" He fired the M40 grenade, hitting the creature in the chest. The force from the explosion sent it flying through the wall and into the adjacent gymnasium.

John cautiously came out of the fitting room, looking toward the unconscious beast. "Jesus..." he said, breathing a sigh of relief.

"You alright?" Alex said. John glanced at him then back at the monster, "Yeah, I'm good. And--uh--our guest?"

Alex stepped carefully through the hole, approaching the creature from the side, rifle shouldered.

"Did we get it?" John asked. "Is it dead?"

Alex kicked the creature. No response.

"They never are." He replied. "Let's get the hell outta here."

Grant wondered if anyone was going to come. He had been waiting for the past twenty minutes. Debating to go outside, he finally decided that it would not hurt to check what was happening behind the door. Running to the gun section, Grant collected Jackson's shotgun and grabbed a bunch of shells. Loading shells into the shotgun, Grant made his way over back to the back entrance. Before he went out he made a red bandana. Putting it on, he sighed with fear.

"I guess it's now or never."

Holding the shotgun in one hand and the keys in the other, Grant unlocked the door. His foot kicked the door open. The shotgun scanned the area. There was nothing outside, but he noticed that he was almost night time. Seeing a undead come toward him, Grant fired the shotgun. The undead fell down to the ground. Blood oozed out of multiple gun wounds.

He sneaked around the corner and saw a man about to be attacked by a undead dog. Grant pulled the trigger and pumped the shotgun. He fired two more rounds into the dog. Blood splattered all over his face. Grant looked toward the man.

"Come with me NOW!"

Grant knew that the undead would be attracted to the sound. He turned his back and ran toward the door. Grant did not look back to see if the man followed until he made it to the door.

"Come on! Come quickly."

His shotgun scanned the area ready for any undead.

Especially looking at some of the people here who survived. Some of them are out of shape, some of them aren't the best fighters, but still they survived." He sat down remembering Afghanistan, his brothers he had lost fighting with. The massively toll of death rought. Melissa shook her head in disbelief at Xavier's idiocy. Why the hell would he want some big vehicle, anyway? The bigger it was, the more noise it would make. And the more noise it made, the more of the undead it would attract. "Typical man..." she thought to her self.

Meanwhile, outside...

As night set in and the silence of the town deepened, the quaint peace was shattered as the roar of bikes could be heard. A local biker gang, known for both it's violence and thievery had somehow heard of the towns condition. And as Chesterson was the home of many shops, they decided not to pass up the chance to loot the hell out of the place. Worse yet, they had picked up a variety of fully automatic weapons from an abandoned national guard outpost near the town limits, and they were now packing some serious heat.

Dozens of bikes sped down the streets. Their drivers laughed and yelled like lunatics as they began to circle around the streets, mowing down the undead like grass in a hail of bullets...

{OOC: Wouldn't that be a plus for us? Eventually the undead would cut them down, but it sounds like they'd whipe out a large amount of them...}

Xavier turned to the noise outside. "What the fuck is that noise?"

((OOC: Um...no. They are theives and bad guys. They'll kill us and the zombies too...>.<))

{OOC: But we're not in a shop, so if we wait it out here and try not to go into any stores we should get all the bonuses and no minuses?}

{OOC: Kind of odd grabbing me by the collar when i'm talking to Manfried, but since you were writting your post when I was repling to him it makes sence. And I doubt she could make a 210lb man drop to his knees by holding onto his collar? But then... hell have no wrath like a woman's fury...}
OOC: Look at the edit, man.

IC:

Upon hearing the waves of automatic gunfire, Leah crouched down, pulling down Melissa and one of the firemen by their shoulders as she went.

"Who the fuck is that? The Army?" she shouted over the din.

"Motorcycles..." said Manfreid. He removed his SCAR-LCQC and walked upstairs. The bikers were flying down the streets shooting at everything, even the building they occupied. Manfreid aimed and shot out one of the bikers tires, making him flip out into a bunch of zombies. "Bastard..." said Manfreid as he crawled back away from the edge.

"So..." Xavier said sceptically. "What are we guna do now, sir? I've got about three clips left, and the other guys don't have that many to begin with." He pointed to the two firemen. "But we have hope seven or so policement survived this hell."

Leah looked at Manfried furiously from her prone position on the floor.
"What the hell are you thinking?! Are you fucking trying to get us killed, drawing attention like that? If they come in here and we have to run because of that stunt, I'm not dragging your ass with me!"

OOC: This is a Wal-Mart like store right? That means that they have a few guns. Probably some 30-30's and some assorted shotguns. Maybe even some .22's for the women.

IC: "Look for more guns, and make molotovs. Let's light these assholes up." Said Manfreid.

((OOC: It's a freakin' plot device. Just go with the flow.))

Melissa scooted close to Leah, scared for her life as the sounds of machine gun fire intensified outside. As soon as Manfreid came back downstairs, she shot him a nasty glare.

Meanwhile, Manfreid's mistake was about to be made apparent as several bikers had seen where the shot had come from. They drove down the alleyways, filling every door and every window with bullets with the clean-cut objective of killing who ever had been stupid enough to kill one of their buddies.
