L7 Sport

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/L7Sport-1.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/L7Sport.jpg

The L7 Sport will be functioning as VLT’s first supersportscar, which leans heavily on F1 technology, and uses an engine based off the VLT ER10-C8 Formula 1 engine. The 5.5-liter 10 cylinder engine has been redeveloped for road use and now develops some 700 HP, with a rev limit near 9,000 rpm. The car is completely built on an adaptive Hydropneumatic suspension, that can alter itself to create optimal driving circumstances. The suspension can keep the car steady and avoid it from dangerous rolling and ducking when on roads that are in bad repair. However, the Hydropneumatic suspension can be adapted for high-speed use, which means the suspension will be tightened and hardened, for better driving dynamics. On top of this, the suspension is not as service-sensitive as other suspension systems, and can be kept from being serviced for 5 years or 200,000 km before in need of service or repairs.

Imperial Department of Foreign Affairs

The Cravanian Department of Foreign Affairs would like to enquire if it is possible to add bullet-proofed windows and reinforced doors to the 6.3 V12 Véier varient of the L7. If so, the Department of Foreign Affairs would like to purchase an order of 150 of these vehicles to serve with our diplomatic corps at embassies worldwide. This would bring us to a cost of $12,384,450.

In addition, we would like to enquire if it would be possible to have a law enforcement varient of the L7 with the 6.3 V12 Véier created, since numerous police departments throughout the Empire have taken an interest in the vehicle. We have no orders yet for our law enforcement departments, but there may well be a large amount of them in the near future.

Dear Sir,

Your order has been confirmed. 150 VLT L7 6.3 V12 Véier's are to be delivered to the Department of Foreign Affairs, with the price totalling $12,384,450. The vehicles are to be delivered in 6 months.

For your enquiry into a law enforcement version of the L7, we have contacted our Custom Orders Department. They answered that the Van Luxemburgian Police also has got several L7's in a law enforcement version, and this version can be delivered to Cravan aswell, if required. On top of the standard equipment, Custom Orders has added a LED lightbar, grille flashers and headlight flashers for improved visibility, and a siren has been hidden behind the grille of the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, the passenger's compartment has been separated from the two front seats to protect officers from aggressive convicts. Next to the center console, there is space for storing two HK MP5's, and a communication system has been added into the Satellite Navigation. For specific requirements, the Custom Orders Department should be contacted at info@vlta-custom.vl

If you wish to buy your vehicle now, we advise you to buy the L7. This vehicle can be uparmoured, and is quick enough to get out of dangerous situations fast. Introduction

LUXEMBOURG - Excellence at all fronts. That's what the L6 stands for. With it's introduction in Van Luxemburg a good few years ago, VLT Automotive has seen the need to give the popular vehicle a facelift. On the technical front, everything remains the same. However, it's looks have changed dramatically. From the stately looks of the last model, the L6, New Generation, is a culture shock. It's sleek lines breath power and flexibility, it's interior adapts to your needs. This, is the L6, New Generation.

The New Generation L6 will be officially introduced, complete with all the details, at the Luxembourg Motor Show in June 2007, and can be seen next to the L8. The press introduction will be at a yet unknown date in May 2007.

Subject: Re: Inquiry

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

We're very busy with the design of your vehicle. For now, we have chosen the chassis of the L7 to construct it on, with the 6.3 V12 engine up front. However, we have been fiddling with the specifications of the engine, and came up with 670 HP instead of 630 HP. Our current estimates are that the vehicle can theoretically reach 270 km/h, and can accelerate in roughly 5 seconds. This is slower than the L7, mainly due to the added weight. We have added a level B7 armouring in the mix, aswell as additional plates of titanium, to offer even better protection.

Your custom model (Development Code C73 to us) will protect your president against RPG attacks (A friendly warning from Custom Orders: the vehicle will be useless after a RPG attack), and the vehicle can drive on after attacks with bullets up to 7.62mm in size. A .50 bullet will almost certainly damage the car, but will not hurt the occupants, if the car is treated well (serviced regularly, it's armour checked regularly, etc.).

This being a custom project for which we had to construct a completely new bodyshell, we are afraid we have to charge the development costs aswell. Therefore, the total costs come to $13 million, 576 thousand USD. The Vehicle sketches are included below.

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

We are afraid that this is nearly impossible. Currently, a Lamborghini Murciélagio LP640 does 0-100 Km/h in 3.4 seconds. The 806 HP Koenigsegg CCX does 0-100 in 3.2 seconds, and a Bugatti EB16.4 Veyron can accelerate from 0-100 in 2.5 seconds. An Ariel Atom does it in 2.9 seconds. As you may see from these figures, only very expensive vehicles with 1000+ HP (Bugatti Veyron) and light agile motorbike-like cars (Ariel Atom) can achieve these kinds of figures. We can deliver you 800 Bugatti EB16.4 Veyron's, for a price of 810 Million USD, but we are afraid we cannot offer you a 4-door saloon car that accelerates this fast. The best solution at this point is to deliver 600 VLT L7 6.3 V12 Véier's, at a price of 44,268,600, since the creation of such a vehicle would be very hard and costly.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

Your order has been confirmed. The total costs come to $985,719,870, and the vehicles will be delivered in 12 months.

Also, we have finished your 'James Bond car' Project. This project, internally named project C64, has been based off a VLT L6 GT 5.0 V10, which has been complemented with another bodyshell, uparmoured to withstand 7.62mm bullets, aswell as attacks with chemical agents. Runflat tyres have been installed, so the car can drive on for 80 Km before the tyres are completely in need of replacement. Also, the vehicle can put up a smokecreen behind itself, and occupants are protected from intruders by a possibility to spray teargas. An additional secure data communication system has been installed, so the vehicle can connect to a to be determined computer network. The costs of customising this vehicle, and developing a new bodyshell for the L6, come to $23,781,900. A photo of the prototype vehicle is included below.

RE: First Reponse Ambulance Vehicles

Dear Mr Schmidt,

We should like to enquire as to a possible vehicle to replace an aging fleet of ours: The First Response Ambulance Service (FRAS). As we're unsure for which vehicle to choose, we shall give you details of it's expected role and requirements we shall have of it.

FRAS is a government-run organisation intended to allow Paramedics to use smaller, less unwieldly vehicles to attend where either an ambulance is not needed, but a paramedic is, or, more often, to reach the scene first and provide treatment to stabilise the patient before the ambulance arrives.

The vehicle should have an appropriate high acceleration with a decent top speed, and should be able to traverse rough terrain if necesary, although occassions like these are unusual. It should be economical to run, and will be required to carry medical equipment safely and securely, including defibrillators, and other relatively heavy medical equipment. This includes unwieldy equipment such as stretchers and splints.

We trust you shall not disappoint us.

Greetings.

Arthur Motorsports are searching for a global partner for our 2009 entry to the SuperFormula racing series. As you may know, Arthur Automotive are an electric automobile manufacturer operating out of Havl. We have been active in SuperFormula racing since 2005 as a chassis manufacturer. However, due to the nature of the series, we are unable to enter cars using our in-house electric engines and require the technological partnership of an engine supplier.

With our current engine partner, HAG, we won the drivers' and constructors' championship last season. However, due to unfortunate new political changes in Havl, HAG are no longer able to produce racing engines after the current season. I send this letter to extend an invitation; we would like to work with VLT to produce a racing engine.

We believe that this partnership would provide two main advantages to VLT. First, as a title participant in the SuperFormula series, the VLT brand will be prominently visible in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The 2008 season will feature races in twenty countries around the globe, making it the world's foremost cosmopolitan motorsport.

Secondly, this partnership would provide important technological input. As an auto manufacturer, we can assure you that everything we learn in motorsports finds an application in our road vehicles. The technology overlap is priceless and gives us a distinct edge over our competitors.

In SuperFormula, our main competitors use customer chassis and engine configurations—a majority of teams compete with Dallara or Swift chassis and Honda or Toyota engines. However, we believe that producing a custom chassis, in conjunction with the partnership of an exclusive engine supplier, gives our team the advantage. Our results have proven as much. In fact, pre-season tests have shown our 2008 car to be two seconds faster per lap than the competition.

Please consider our invitation. We believe this is a first-class opportunity for both of our companies. Feel free to address questions or concerns of any nature.

Sincerely,
Harris Read

Subject: Engine Specifications

Dear Kristin Becker,

Thank you for your prompt reply. We at Arthur Motorsports wish to extend our gratitude; the men and women at our factory in Hitchin, Havl are delighted about VLT's interest in the team. We are all very anxious to work with such an illustrious global partner.

In response to your inquiry, the current SuperFormula engine regulations stipulate the following:

-“Engines are limited to 3.0 liter normally-aspirated V10 configurations.”

These are the only limitations. There are no rules on engine material, number of valves, weight restrictions, etc.

Our current engine (HAG10) is a 3.0L V10 capable of 950 hp revving to 20,000 rpm. Our competitors’ engines have been estimated to range 650 to 900 hp. For the first race of the 2009 season, we hope to have at least 850 hp.

We would also like to work together to design a gearbox. In most forms of motorsport, it is customary for the chassis designer to construct the gearbox. However, because electric cars have no need for gearboxes, Arthur Automotive do not have relevant knowledge of gearbox design or manufacture.

Therefore, we’re hoping VLT can design a transversely-mounted 6-7 speed semi-automatic sequential gearbox. Again, there are no limitations beyond these requirements.

On an unrelated note, our second driver, Jody Hödem, is retiring at the end of the upcoming season, and we are looking for replacement drivers. Although we have several drivers in line for the seat, we would like to extend the opportunity to any of VLT’s test drivers. They would have to test with the team, of course, but we consider this partnership to be an excellent resource for both technology and talent.

Dear Sir,

Our development department has messaged us that you can use the 3.0 Litre V10 ER10-C8 Engine from the VLT F1 Factory Team, that participated in the NSGP of 2005. The engine will be adapted for racing use by your team, which means the total power output will be increased, and the engine will develop 935 HP, while the engine can rev to 21,500 rpm.

We have been looking into our inventory for a 7-speed semi-automatic sequential gearbox, but the ones we found were not suitable for present day racing purposes. Therefore, the R & D department has been working on a new gearbox, codenamed GR7-C18. The gearbox will have 7 gears, and can be sequentially shifted. one reverse gear is available.

Engine type: ER10-C8
Number of cylinders: 10, V-formation
Engine Block construction: Cast Aluminium
Number of Valves: 40 (4 per cylinder)
Total Displacement: 3000 cm3
Engine output, HP: 935
Max revolutions per minute: 21,500

Gearbox type: GR7-C18
Number of gears: 7 + 1 reverse
Sequential gearbox, Semi-Automatic

As stated before, the VLT Automotive Factory team has participated in F1GP once. However not very succesful, we think this applies to all starting teams. However, former 1st Driver John Leeds is still being employed by us as test driver. He is very eager to get into the racing scene again, and we think that he won't cause any trouble for your team.

Dear Kristin Becker,

If appearances are true, the ER10-C8 will be an impressive powerplant. True, the horsepower is slightly lower, but, with a higher rev limit, the car should be very competitive. If we can keep the engine going for the duration of each race, I have no doubt we will have an aggressive combination.

Due to the nature of Arthur’s contract with HAG, we will be unable to formally test the new chassis/engine combination until the end of the upcoming season. However, the Arthur team will be able to design the 2009 A20 with the ER10-C8 in mind. This will ensure that the car’s aerodynamic profile with suit the placement of the engine and will also help the design team work with the center of gravity.

We’re very excited about the new gearbox, as well. I’ve heard some grumbling around the paddock that some teams are working on “seamless shift” transmissions. I’m somewhat familiar with the concept—the ‘box uses two clutches to get the next gear up to speed before the gear change—but I’m skeptical of the technology. Perhaps the VLT R & D team can evaluate the concept.

We’re also anxious to test with John Leeds. It was quite a shock when Jody Hödem informed us of his plan to retire; he’s been faster than our #1 during the off season. I’m personally interested in meeting and working with Mr. Leeds; it’s great to have some input into VLT’s previous racing experience.

I do have some menial information about Mr. Leeds that needs to be filled out before the test can commence: Nationality, age, personal sponsors, and helmet design (description of illustration).

Also, on a more general topic, we would like to congratulate VLT on the purchase of Manicci. We’re all racing fans at Arthur Motorsports, and we’re familiar Manicci’s racing heritage. Although it is certainly not our decision, we have considered the possibility of racing a Manicci-branded VLT engine.

Dear Sir,

We thank your for your compliments over the ER10-C8. Our R & D department are very modest about their achievements, but we think they are doing fabulous work, and have once again delivered a piece of art. R & D has been looking into the 'seamless shift' transmissions. We have been examining VAG DSG transmissions that are used in several Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda and Audi products, but they say that, since a DSG is made out of two clutches, it will make the gearbox almost double the weight, estimated. This means that there are pro's, but also con's to this plan. The designers of the vehicle should decide over this, since they can influence the final prestations of the car.

On the topic of John Leeds, we have been looking up his details.

John Leeds is 28 years old, Van Luxemburgian, and is sponsored by Walter Technologie, a Van Luxemburg-based ICT company. His helmet is white, with two red stripes in vertical direction, A Van Luxemburgian flag near his temple (both sides), and his sponsor's logo on the side of his helmet (both sides).

Dear Sir,

We are very sorry by the inconvenience, but we are unable to deliver the custom orders you made. Currently, we cannot deliver a F1 car except for our exclusive contracts with the HAG-Motorsports team and the VLT Factory team, aswell as our inability to develop two F1 cars at the same time (a Season 2008 VLT Factory Team one is being developed at this moment)

Also, we cannot develop a new engine for only two cars. We can offer you the VLT L7 with it's 6.3-litre V12, but we cannot currently develop a new engine for you. We are deeply sorry for this inconvenience.

Currently, we cannot comment on the development of a large SUV, but we are completely sure that a 10 Litre V16 does not belong to our possibilities.

A luxurious saloon car is underway in the form of the L8, which will be launched soon enough.

Your order for 15 L7 6.3 V12 Véier's has been confirmed, and we will deliver them within 6 months.

We wish to inform you that buying stocks in VLT Automotive is currently impossible, since the other 49% is owned by the Van Luxemburgian Ministry of Economic Affairs, and is not to be sold to foreign buyers.

Dear Mr Schmidt,

I have been asked by both Ms Harriem and Mr Wednesday to forward on their most sincere thanks for accepting orders they have place through myself and the Ministry, and to pass on that many orders should be coming your way in the future.

They would like to point out that all vehicles have so far exceeded expectations - First Responder times have decreased by an average of 2 minutes per callout - a huge improvement - for which we have your company and your designers to thank.

Police Vehicles have shown a huge improvement also. We have found that high-speed pursuits have been ended much more easily, and security in outlying villages has increased thanks to faster vehicles causing shorter response times.

Due to the improvements, also, that VLT cars have made to our economy, we have decided to make VLT Automotive a Tariff Exempt (TEx) Company - this will put you on a par with homeland Barronian industries, and will allow you to further your interests in our nation.

Many thanks again.

Ok then first we will pay for the development, and build of 400 F1 Engines, and if the engines prove to be good maybe we can buy some more in the future we are planning on starting a Government funded F1 Race Team, second we will pay the amount you desire for the development of the SUV and if you want you can make it a production model for High End customers we can finance the whole project,we will pay if you desire of course for a development of a V16 Engine,if you indeed wish to start the project we will fully support you financially and we would buy inicially 400 Units, and i would also want to know if you could make the Luxurious salloon i requested but based on the L8?Oh and how big is Van Luxemburg?Because even if they don´t want to sell their stocks 200,000,000,000$ are a very good offer and a big help for a government budget

Dear Sir,

We are very sorry by the inconvenience, but we are again unable to deliver the custom orders you made. As mentioned before, we can only develop 2 F1 projects at a time, and we have exclusive contracts with Motorola HAG-Motorsports and the VLT Factory team, which limit us to building F1 vehicles only for these teams. Breaking these agreements would lead to grave consequences for the development of F1 projects.

As said before, we cannot comment on the development of a Large SUV, nicknamed L10 in the Press, and are therefore unable to answer your second question.

The L8 is a very exclusive and luxurious vehicle, and will be limited to 1 car per model per person, and no more than five cars per year per nation. We refuse to alter the chassis and design of the L8 in any way, to preserve it's exclusivity.

Currently, the Van Luxemburgian Government is not interested in your proposal. The current profits of their 49% raise above the price for their share offered by you, and will only lead to huge losses on the Van Luxemburgian side. Plus, Van Luxemburgian Financial Law forbids Foreign Involvement in an N.V. without it being on the Van Luxemburgian or International Stock Market.

Hoping to have answered your questions,

Signed,

Dear Kristin Becker,

Last week, John Leeds tested with our team at Circuit de Valencia in Spain. Mr. Leeds was able to lap within one second of our number two driver’s fastest laptime, setting a 1:10.365 with last year’s Motorola HAG-Arthur A17B.

The team have been very impressed with John’s performance and attitude. He made efforts to setup the car and made progress during the one hour session. His communication skills are excellent—we were particularly impressed with his English—and he learned most of the crew’s names by the end of the weekend.

Mr. Leeds has expressed interest in further testing with the team, and we would like to extend the position of test driver for the 2008 season in preparation for his seat in the 2009 car.

Regarding VAG DSG transmissions, you mentioned the inherent pros and cons of the double-clutch transmissions (decreased shifting time versus additional weight). With our current pace, I feel that it’s appropriate to take the risk. Such chances are essential for our continued success.

Sincerely,
Harris Read

Dear Sir,

We are very content with the results Mr. Leeds has achieved while testing with your team; We hope he will be a great addition to the team. We are sure John Leeds will exceed all expectations when driving with your team, even during the 2008 season as a test driver.

In regards to the DSG transmission, we have already been experimenting somewhat with the exploitation of the concept for racing purposes. The gearbox will have 7 gears, connected to two clutches. We have made extensive use of lighter materials such as carbon and several alloys, to keep the weight as low as possible. We estimate that the transmission should now be somewhat lighter than it would usually be, but ofcourse, a non-DSG transmission will always be lighter.

Gearbox type: GR7-C19
Number of gears: 7 + 1 reverse
Sequential gearbox, Semi-Automatic, DSG-Technology

We hope this model can fulfill your needs.

VLT Buys Monteluci

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/montelucilogo.jpg
Soon back on the roads again?

Luxembourg, From our correspondent - In a short press memo, VLT Automotive has announced that they have bought the brand name Monteluci from the last heir of the company, Alfredo Monteluci. Maybe Automobili Monteluci will be returning back to the roads in it's former glory, after the lean years?

Monteluci was founded in 1907, when Gilberto Monteluci built his first car, the Pangea. Monteluci entered into van Luxemburgian racing in 1913, and joined the European racing seen just after the First World War. The Tipo 188, built 1934, was very succesful in both domestic and foreign racing, and marked the best days of Van Luxemburgian racing, according to experts. During the Second World War, Gilberto Monteluci died because of natural reasons, but his company was kept in the family. After the war, Monteluci received competition in the form of VLT Automotive itself, but managed to keep standing in the market. The Gran Turismo Spyder, a relatively small convertible sportscar, was introduced in 1956 and honoured by the press as one of the best sportscars of it's days. Monteluci's post-war model range is mainly recognisable by it's style and class, elegance and originality. The vehicles can be seen as Granturismo's, comfortable but sportive vehicles which focus on driving pleasure. However, these recognisable Monteluci elements meant the brand was one of the first to find how hard it can be to operate as an automobile producer during the Oil Crisis in 1973, and the company's history almost ended with the 1979 Oil Crisis. However, it still managed to survive after major loans had been given out by the Van Luxemburgian Government, and Monteluci carried on building cars, although in small amounts and with limited sales, throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

Now, in 2007, VLT has bought the rights to Monteluci from Alfredo Monteluci, who has been contracted as the manager of the brand for the coming 5 years. According to Monteluci, his brand will 'let old times live, and Monteluci will be better than ever'. This time, Monteluci will be able to enjoy a large budget, if we look at VLT's profits, currently over 1.5 Trillion USD. Alfredo Monteluci will be appealing to several top designers in order to protect his brands styling elements, and he expects to have a full range up within a few years, not bad for a small manufacturer on the market. VLT also states to be very well-tempered and excited to work with Monteluci. 'VLT has long since been looking for a way to launch a second model range, and Monteluci offers the perfect chance to do this.'

It is yet unknown if Monteluci will heavily rely on VLT technique, or produce their own engines and electrical systems. Alfredo Monteluci was not available for comments on this question, and neither was anyone of the VLT management. A production location has however been announced: Monteluci will be returning to it's former production and testing grounds, Venezia. Venice will be the site for a production facility with a capacity of around 22 million vehicles yearly, including advanced and highly private testing grounds. Additionally, Monteluci will also have access to VLT Automotive factories and testing grounds, aswell as technology, probably. It is still guessing when the first Monteluci-made car will surface.

(OOC: Yes, a slightly different name, but this time with the assistance of Mattia Mariani, a drawing artist that will be creating the face of Monteluci and possibly several other vehicles. Monteluci is pronounced the Italian way, not French. Think of the double-c's in Italian (Montelucci))
Van Luxemburg

OOC: And the launch of the first Monteluci is a fact. The Duca is available for sales now.

(OOC: These are only engines, you will have to build the vehicles around them, or install them in a vehicle that can fit the monstrous 24-cylindre engine without sinking through it's axles or any other sort of suspension. Trying to mount this on a civilian car will result in a vehicle with broken axles and a destroyed chassis. It's simply too heavy.)

Subject: Diplomatic car replacement matter

Dear Herr Hans Schmidt,

This current Executive Cabinet of the Union of Southeast Asian Nations, has a foreign policy of "diplomacy over force". However, this current administration has a vow to protect the environment and clear up external effects. The Demogade Elusion Sports Utility Vehicle (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9622097&postcount=470) has been in service since the Union first made formal contact with the now-defunct Libertarian Concordance of Czardas. I used that vehicle to meet the charismatic Kari Alhoun, sadly deceased. While a great vehicle and excellent for security, global warming concerns are sharply rising, and the government, having always believed in it, is becoming even more active in rapport of protecting the environment while at the same time trying not to compromise business. The Elusion diplomatic vehicle fleet, some of which has been converted to more environmentally friendly standards, will be decommissioned from government service. The ones which have not been converted, the majority shall be scrapped and the remained unconverted ones, their fates shall be decided upon eventually.

We have, naturally, decided to turn to a much better and I presume, more environmentally-friendly and superior source of vehicles. The Monteluci Duca (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12497760&postcount=13) and the VLT L7 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12494576&postcount=9) are the ones this government has been eyeing. Particularly, the Monteluci Duca 2.0 MD 200 (US$31.984) and the VLT L7 3.5 V6 (US$61.871). Both, I believe, can be customized to be for more environmentally systems and diplomatic service, with things like bulletproof armor and glass, et cetera. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to take one hundred models each. The cost of 9,385,500 Universal Standard Dollars shall be wired upon the confirmation of the order.

Should the Monteluci Duca and the VLT L7 live up to your firm's reputation, expect us to be a returning customer. May relations between the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg and the Union of Southeast Asian Nations continue to progress!

Yours Sincerely,
His Excellency,
Joshua Lin Cheuk Kitt

Dear Mr. Lin,

From: Harris Read, Team Manager, Motorola HAG-Arthur Motorsports
Subject: News Update

I’m writing to catch you up on our progress this season. After four rounds, HAG-Arthur lead both the driver and team championships. We’ve all been quite surprised at the pace of our second driver, Jody Hödem, as he has been consistently faster than his teammate, Jock State, the series’ reigning champion.

As a team, we secured pole position for all four of the first events and have won half of the races. Hödem and State have finished one-two at Suzuka, Japan, and Laguna Seca, USA. Unfortunately, two-time champion Aris State, Jr. beat our drivers at our home track in Hitchin, Havl, where a constant rain gave him an edge. Hödem leads the drivers’ championship with Jock State in second, and HAG-Arthur lead the team championship by fifty-five points.

This season’s standings aside, there has been an exiting announcement from the SuperFormula series. At the season-opening race in Suzuka, Japan, series director Gerard Hyson announced a new vehicle formula for 2012, including a move to all-electrical power. This means that, by 2012, all teams are to utilize electric engines.

Although this is a significant change to the series, and although it affects VLT’s current plans for the future in the sport as an engine supplier, we believe that the partnership between VLT and Arthur can remain effective before and after the change.

In the three-year interim period before SuperFormula goes all-electric, many teams will likely focus on developing electric engines. We believe that this would provide an excellent opportunity for our team to dominate the remaining seasons of internal combustion-powered cars.

However, we also believe VLT has a future in the series after 2012; perhaps, after that season, VLT could design the racing chassis and Arthur would provide the electric power plants. Each company would effectively swap roles in the partnership. This is just an idea, of course—we have plenty of time to negotiate such changes when the time comes.

Finally, there is one last issue to discuss for the upcoming 2009 season. As you know, our racing team pays for itself through sponsorship (as well as the inherent advertising connection between the race team and the factory). However, due to the nature of business regulation laws in Havl, we are not allowed to receive money directly from sponsors. That is why, for the 2008 season, we are known as Motorola HAG-Arthur instead of the more conventional sponsor/chassis/engine signage found with other teams.

By placing our engine supplier ahead of our team name, we bypass this legislation. Therefore, with VLT’s permission, we would like to call the team Motorola VLT Arthur starting in 2009. Because of this name change, our team’s nationality will change from Havlian to Van Luxemburgian. Although chassis and engine facilities will remain in Havl and Van Luxemburg, respectively, the Van Luxemburgian flag will be displayed next to the team’s name on official SuperFormula documents and displays. Likewise, the Van Luxemburgian national anthem will be played when the teams wins a race. I’m certain we will be hearing it from the podium next season.

Sincerely,
Harris Read

Dear Mr. Read,

It is fabulous to hear about your good results in the SuperFormula. We are very fond of the team, and also sure that we will be victorious next year.

We completely agree with your suggestion on having VLT design the chassis; we currently do not have enough expertise to develop electric engines, nor to make them. We will gladly accept your offer to design the chassis, which could positively influence our experience in building high-powered sportscars.

We have no problems with the placement of our name, making the team Van Luxemburgian of nationality. We would however wish to point out, that this also means that the team needs to pay Van Luxemburgian taxes, and register with the Grand-Ducal Autosports Federation. Registering with the GDAF could mean that the team will have to get a license, but we are sure that this won't be a problem, since this is merely a monetary speedbump, rather than a practical problem.

Kristin Becker,

I understand that diplomatic intricacies are to be expected when dealing with international matters. Likewise, I accept that your terms are fair regarding switching the team’s national registration. However, I am somewhat concerned with Arthur’s ability to fulfill those terms for two key reasons.

My first concern is that, although I’m embarrassed to admit it, my knowledge of international policy is very weak; I’m a racer at heart, you know. Politics have always been a necessary evil for me as an international team manager (I’ve always felt it gets in the way of the real nature of the sport). Therefore, I’m perhaps not the correct Arthur staff member for this negotiation. However, before I pass this job on to another office, I’d like to see if we can work this out together.

My second concern is that Arthur may not be able to pay Van Luxemburgian taxes. As you know, Arthur is a state-owned entity. All of our income goes back to the Havl. We pay a 100% tax rate, in essence. Although the team will be registered as Van Luxemburgian as far as SuperFormula is concerned, we will remain a division of Havl’s government. Therefore, may be unable to pay foreign taxes.

What is the nature of the GDAF? Is this a sporting body within Van Luxemburg, similar to Formula One’s FIA, or World Cup’s FIFA? Or is it a government department, like the ministry of defense? Team Arthur is registered regulated through SuperFormula. Perhaps registration with the GDAF is unnecessary.

Again, I would like to remind you that I am not an expert about these issues. We may indeed be able to pay international taxes, but I am unsure. We will also gladly register with the GDAF if necessary. If you are worried about this reply, I can easily pass this on to someone with more expertise within our company. However, I’d appreciate any help and input from you—I’m not too keen on admitting to the road car division that I can’t handle this aspect of the job!

Thank you,

Mr. Read,

I think the taxes wouldn't be a problem. As a state-owned company, VLT itself is devoid of any taxes, and with the amounts of profits being made by our company, we have money to spare. Therefore, we would like to offer you complete Van Luxemburgian Tax Payment, when Motorola HAG-Arthur Motorsports decides to take the Van Luxemburgian nationality.

Regarding your question about the GDAF, The Grand-Ducal Autosports Federation is a private organization which keeps track of all racing teams and drivers, in order to make them eligible for state funding from the Ministry of Health and Sports. This will also give you access to all Van Luxemburgian tracks, for free trainings, testing, etc. While we think this might be a useful addition for your team, it is your choice to join or not join.

Signed,

Kristin Becker

Kristen Becker,

I must say that I am very pleased with your generous offer. We gladly accept. As such, we would like to offer a share of sponsor profits with the VLT motorsports department, begining in 2009. The actual details of the agreement will have to be worked out later, but we would like to offer to you the proceeds above when Arthur Motorsports breaks even. We will work out the details as the season approaches.

We are also happy to apply for the GDAF. The organization sounds extremely useful, especially as we begin the design stage for next year's A19. You mentioned that our entry into the GDAF will give us access to Van Luxemburgian tracks. I hope this includes the Nürburgring-Nordschleife! Our drivers are choping at the bit for a chance to test at such an important and historical circuit.

Also, I'm interested in the progress of the ER10-C8. Within the next two months, we will be producing our first prototype A19s. However, it would be useful to have the design specifics of the ER10-C8 at this point in the design process (as you know, the engine and gearbox in our car serves as a structural element).

Mr. Read,

We have taken the liberty to register your team with the GDAF, after your last letter. This registration has been accepted, and the GDAF welcomes you! A membership of the GDAF includes the entrance of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, although there are limitations, since the Nordschleife is also open to the public. Therefore, the GDAF can lock down the Nordschleife only a few days per year. The Nürburgring GP track can be accessed anytime, except for race days.

On the progress of the ER10-C8: the design team has been trying to improve the model, and came up with our next improvement. I quote out of a mail from the R & D department:

'We have been improving the weight of the engine and the number of horsepowers, by using lighter materials and improved things like spark plugs, exhaust, etcetera. The ER10-C9:

Engine type: ER10-C9
Number of cylinders: 10, V-formation
Engine Block construction: Cast Aluminium, Magnesium
Number of Valves: 40 (4 per cylinder)
Total Displacement: 3000 cm3
Engine output, HP: 959
Max revolutions per minute: 22,100'

This is what they told me. I'm not an expert in terms of engine design (I am part of the Board of Managers, not a mechanic), but this seems like a good engine to me.

(OOC: I don't really have an idea on how to give more information on the engine. Across the net, info about F1 engines is scarce, and I couldn't find that much info on the specifications of the 2005-model engines.)

Subject: Testing Schedule; Engine Update

Kristen Becker,

Again, thank you for registering the team with GDAF. We are interested in the Nordschleife and the GP track, as well as any other circuits available during the winter months. Our testing program will begin 1 November 2008, when our current engine partnership contract expires. We expect to have the A19 on track by the middle of December. If possible, we would like to schedule a track date for the Nordschliefe in February. Likewise, we would like to schedule engine tests with the chassis at the modern Nürburgring GP circuit throughout January and February.

However, I admit that I am not familiar with the winter climate of Van Luxemburg. Would these dates be too cold or snowy?

We received the engine specifications this morning, and we continue to be thoroughly impressed. Our goal is to build the first pair of A19s around the ER10-C9 in December. However, these plans are flexible according to VLT's production schedule.

One final note; it has come to my attention that the SuperFormula Association is considering an additional circuit for the 2009 schedule (a plan for a street race in Australia has fallen through). The race is to be held in late June, 2009. I would like to suggest Van Luxemburg to the planning committee at the next conference, but only with your consent. Do you believe the event would be well-attended? Also, which circuit do you suggest? I propose the Nürburgring GP circuit. (Despite my admiration for the Nordschliefe, I doubt the SFA would approve for safety reasons).

Mr. Read,

It is good to hear that you will be testing on Van Luxemburgian soil soon enough. We'll surely try to be of help when you're testing with the team in Van Luxemburg.

We think that the date chosen would be possible, but one has to keep in mind that snow and ice might disturb the testing, but our guess is that this wouldn't be a problem during testing, since the Nürburgring owns adequate equipment to clear the track.

I think that it wouldn't be a problem to host a race in Van Luxemburg. The Nürburgring would certainly be a good proposal, although we can also offer the Kreuzbad street course in the Colony of Kreuzbadinsel. A map of the 20 km-long street course can be found down below.

Next to that, subsidiaries of VLT can offer even cheaper cars. (a little under $10,000). 2009 SuperFormula Challenger and Driver Lineup

Letter from the team: We at Arthur Motorsports are proud and excited to introduce our 2009 challenger and driver lineup. For the upcoming season, change may be the issue, but we believe it is all in the name of progress. In 2009, much will change for the team; we welcome world-renowned technical partner VLT Automotive; we present our new A20 chassis; and we introduce two new drivers, Alastair Malice and John Leeds.

VLT Automotive: During the off season, we have been working closely with VLT Automotive, the world's largest automaker, to develop a new racing engine for the 2009 season. VLT Automotive brings an enormous amount of experience from the worlds of racing and road car production. The Van Luxemburg-based manufacturer has produced engines for formula and sports car series. For 2009, VLT has produced a brand new power plant. The ER10-C9 is a three liter, ten cylinder engine capable of over 900 horsepower. VLT Automotive has also designed a seamless-shift transmission that looks to inspire copy-cat designs down the pit lane.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/FuzzyOne/2009VLT-Arthurpostcard.gif
A20: Mated to the new VLT Automotive engine is our entirely new Arthur A20 chassis. After racing the previous A19 and A19B configurations for the previous five seasons and winning two team and drivers’ championships, we aim to raise the bar with this new chassis. The A20 features a shorter wheelbase than the A19 with increased aero efficiency and improved downforce.

Drivers: For the 2009 season, we are pleased to introduce two new drivers.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/FuzzyOne/AlastairMalicehelmet.gif
Alastair Malice has been a formidable contender in SuperFormula since his impressive debut season in 2006. The proud Scotsman has been frustrating teammates at previous team VLR by pulling surprising pace from a consistently sluggish car. Alastair has been a constant source of speed during the off season, and looks to break his winless streak in 2009.

No problem, they'll arrive with the next parts shipment: Three L7 Sports. Schmidt was glad to put it on a VLT bill, so don't worry about the payment; They're free for you.

Anyways, I might introduce myself: I'm Francis Waterman, your new Engine Liaison. You can always reach me if you need me: I've usually got either my laptop or cellphone with me (even though my wife doesn't like that a lot).

Francis,

On behalf of the entire crew, welcome to the team! You’ve joined a great one. Before I continue, I’d like to thank both you and Hans Schmidt for picking up the tab on those three L7 Sports. I really appreciate it! It could have ended up as a big gaffe on my part; I don’t have the budget for buying supercars, but the drivers will look much better showing up at the races in the L7 Sport than in a pair of Arthurs. When they arrive, they will be the first and only VLTs in Havl, though I'm sure that will soon change.

Again, welcome! As you know, you will serve as the main communication between the chassis team and the engine team. Likewise, you’re the de facto communicator between Arthur and VLT. However, I don’t want you to think that there’s any gap between what’s done in Havl and what’s being worked on in Van Luxemburg. On the contrary, it’s best to think of the team as one entity. Even though your job may at times seem to highlight the separation between the two, the position was created to pull the sides together.

At times, you will need to be with VLT in Van Luxemburg. At other times, you will be needed in Havl. You’ll know where you need to be. It’s your versatility that made you perfect for this job!

I'll update you after the first weekend of practice. I think you'll be very impressed, as I am, with the way the crews are working together.

We look forward to meeting you soon. We will be working together quite a bit.

Dear Sir,

It has come to our attention that we have not yet ordered any models of the L8 Saloon, something which we promised to do.

That said, we tend to honour our promises, and will most certainly do so on this occassion - such a magnificent car does not deserve to be unsold.

We wish to purchase the full 5 cars as per the limit each year until further notice. All should be saloons, however we request a little technical information on the cars.

We wish to question the possibility of converting the car's interior to a Pullman style, which would involve a lengthening of the chassis to make a seat formation in this (http://www.depozituldeanvelope.ro/articole/Mercedes%20S600%20interior.jpg) style.

We would, naturally, be willing to pay for any costs that may be incurred in such a conversion effort.

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

We can deliver most of the VLT model range as equipped police vehicles. This includes emergency lights (lightbar & LED equipment), a paintjob in the colours of the police department it will be delivered to, a siren that meets the police departments requirements & national laws, communication systems, special compartments for weapons, aswell as a rear seat prepared for transport of arrestants. This is available for the specified vehicles. Armouring is a special task, and is generally not included in the police package. This means the cost of armouring will be added in on top of the cost of the police package. The Armouring can be installed according to NATO-standards.

The L7 request can also be performed. VLT can make custom armouring possible for the vehicle as specified, which will cost approximately $550,000 USD on top of the vehicle price itself. While we are aware that this is expensive, it costs a lot of hours of work to configure the vehicle to your wishes, and the systems required are quite expensive. We ask your understanding for this.

Lepanto Supercar: It's coming!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/Lepanto1copy.png
A Lepanto teaser picture has been sent to all press instances.

We've been waiting for it, but it has come to our inbox: A Lepanto supercar.
The brand, nowadays part of VLT and belonging to VLT's 'exclusive' branch, commanded by Monteluci, has been promising it's return for a while, but has now finally put out the first (fruitful) results.

This Lepanto, of which the name has yet to be decided upon, will be equipped with a 6-litre V12 that can develop 650 PS. This will be a slight improvement over the older Monteluci V12 with 640 PS that has been installed in other Lepanto's. Most of this engine has been redeveloped, just to gain the little bit more horsepower and a better cultivated engine. Lepanto has however promised that the engine sound will still be quite brutal, thanks to their sound engineers. With this new V12 engine, the Lepanto 650 (as it will probably be named) can achieve speeds of over 330 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3 to 3.5 seconds.

The vehicle will be supplied with technology (ABS, ESP) that can always be turned off, like we're used to with Lepanto. The car is said to be superior in build quality to the VLT L7 Sport (the previous supersportscar by VLT), and will cost around 500,000 USD. The Lepanto will incorporate the best leather and interior products around, while the finest materials will be used to handcraft the vehicle at the Lepanto garages on the Via Lepanto in Venezia. Lepanto expects they can assemble around 200 vehicles of this car annually, and ensures that service is one of the most important words for Lepanto. For now, the only other Lepanto dealer in Van Luxemburg is on the Boulevard 5. Mee 1945. Due to the significant distance some customers will have to travel, the brand will offer a possibility to take the car from the owners' home, service it, and return it to the owner. For foreign owners, the Lepantos will be flown back to Van Luxemburg for maintenance once a year. The owner can also travel with his vehicle, to enjoy the Lepantos in venezia or take a special driving course on the Monteluci/Lepanto track in Moiano, inbetween Omignano and Venezia.

'Lepanto is an experience, not just a car. We hope the owner of such a vehicle will experience this. This new supercar is a special event, and we will handcraft the vehicle, as with every model, on the Via Lepanto. When the owner takes delivery of the car, he can make a test drive with the mechanic that does the final inspection, and, if required, ask for some last-minute touchups. If the driver needs to, he can always E-mail, or phone when the Lepanto factory is open, the mechanic that did the final inspection if he wants to consult him, and all of this will be free, it is all service of Lepanto. It does indeed take a lot of money and time, but we think that Lepanto is worth this.' according to Giancarlo Moretti, head of the Lepanto garage in Venezia.

A set introduction for the 650 has not yet been announced, but we can besure it is nearing.
