All Hope is Lost (FT Attn: Unified Sith)

(OOC: This is a continuation of the battle between Unified Sith and myself. This thread is closed, unless you are already in the Phantom Invasion thread, and within close range to the skirmish that is occurring near the fifth planet in the Asfaltum system.)

It was dark, only the emergency lighting system was on. The entire crew was unconscious, laying at their very stations. Many of the monitors were sparking, all in all the ship was in trouble.

The Battlestar Orion was the victim of a sneak attack by an Imperial Star Destroyer. Although a Battlestar would have some chance against a Star destroyer. If the Battlestar took it by surprise, the ship could have a chance at disabling the Star destroyer, but since the Battlestar was taken by surprise, they had little hope, and no chance of rescue.

Their last ditch attempt to throw off the Imperial Star destroyer so far seemed to work. By overloading the FTL drive, and using the new holo cloak system, they were able to make it appear that they jumped away. Although it would take 20 minutes to re-spin the FTL jump drive, it was worth it. Although having the drive spun up was pointless, as the entire system was covered in FTLi’s. A most despairing truth for the Colonial Battlestar.

The Gunstar Solar Flare however continued to pound the Imperial Star destroyers shields. The Gunstar was much smaller than a Battlestar, and it’s primary use was fleet support. It had very few Anti ship cannons, and even fewer missiles, but what it lacked in those it made up for in sensor jammers, and Anti fighter and missile flak cannons. The ship was designed to be another shield for the fleet, not the primary attack vessel, which it was now in the role for.

Moments later the Solar Flare, emmited a white light and vanished, leaving the same energy signature, as it overloaded it’s FTL. The tactic was desperate, but it was needed to regain access to the computers, and to move into a position that the Colonial Fleet could gain the upper hand.

On board the Battlestar Orion, the crew begins to wake up

Commander Dala, puts her hand to her head. Her head feels like she had a hard night of drinking at the officer’s lounge.

Commander Dala, shouts Damage report.

Lt. Nicholson replies: Draidus is still down, FTL is down, damage control teams are trying to get the Auto cannon’s back online. Holo cloak is holding, sub-light engines are in the green, as well as thrusters. Shields are up to 40% and rising. If we can hold off for a few more minutes we can get full shield protection again.

Colonel Kilmens responds, Lets just hope those bastards do not see us by then.

Commander Dala looks at the white planning table under the draidus. “Get our birds back in the air, as soon as possible. Before they launch make sure they cloak with the back drop of space, and loaf their internal missiles with nuclear warheads. “

All main batteries load the EMB shells. At the first sign they see us unload all hell on them. Prepare the blackbird and stealthstar squadrons for launch.

Colonel Kilmens responds, “We will only get one shot commander.”

Commander Dala, responds, “We will only need one.”

"Well." The good captain said with a hint of confusion. "I had no idea the rebellion had such technological capability."

"No..... neither did I." Inquisitor Malivium said as he emerged from the shadows. "It is a trick." Unsure, captain Nelthos turned his head and glanced over at commscan.

"We can detect nothing but open space and heavy gravitational disturbances."

"My point exactly, captain. We have an inhibitor field encompassing this system, it is a trick, probably an illusion of some kind."

"I can only go by what I can see Inquisitor." Nelthos moved away from the observation windows. "Give me something I can see, and perhaps then we can do something about it." His tone and posture was slightly aggressive, as though he were fed up sharing his command with a politician.

"Call in more ships." Malivium glanced at the holographic map of the fleet. "The Doomgiver and the Slayer are within range, call them in to assist with the search."

"Search for what Inquisitor, I see absolutely nothing."

Maliviam seethed, his pointed teeth bore his hostility as they slowly ground against each other in frustration. "Your talents, do not match my own...." The good captain started to grasp at his neck arms flailing as he fell to the ground gasping for air. "Call in more ships, and I will release him commodore." The Inquisitors pupils encompassed his eyes, his rage, thrill of the dark side of the force began to consume him. "I can feel them, they are alive, sedate but alive..." Nelthos let out a gasp for precious life as the grip over him was released. "I would also advise captain, that you begin firing blind, compute their last known course and speed and triangulate their co-ordinates. They are here, and they are plotting against us."

From the phalanx formation of the fleet above the orb of Asfaltum, two more Imperial Star Destroyers joined the fray of battle. Their prowed hulls and shining gunports pointed towards an area of vacant space. Then, with no hint of what was to come, they opened fire.

OOC: I forgot the names of my characters so I just renamed them :-) You can have every shot miss if you want, they are firing into vacant space, odds of hitting you are next to nothing.

The void of space began to light up like a firework show on the fourth of july. Blast after blast seemed to fly by in every direction, yet hit nothing, nothing yet. The blackbird and steathstar's were designed to minimize their engine and communication capabilities to the point of non existance, and so far the design worked perfectly. As the Crews of the two battlestars began to work on hasty repairs, the pilots had other ideas.

"What are you crazy, we can not attack and survive against a Imperial Star Destroyer."

"We do not need to, we need to confuse the bastards til the Orion is operational. See the fire, they still believe that we are in the area. All Squadrons take your positions."

"You must be kidding this is going to be a suicide run."

"If it is, then I will see you in Hades, in the arms of the angels.

"Bet you 50 Cubits, he is crapping himself now."

"Shut up, lets do our jobs."

Squadron one took up a position, under holocloak and under steath run, underneath and aft of the Imperial Star Destroyer. As they took up the delta position, the lead ships fired their decoy missles, 16 in all, enough to give their scanners of the enemy vessel a few moments to believe they were outmanuvered. The angle should be sufficient in preventing the Star Destroyers bridge from being able to see it, even if it was real. The test was about to begin.

The missles begin to combine their signals, and soon Draidus picked up the signature of two Ares Class battlestars. The rest of squadron one fired a conventional missle, in 1 second burst. They knew the tiny anti fighter missles were no match for the enemy shields, but that was not the point. The point was to be as convencing as possible.

Squardon leader of Squardon one, began to transmit a message over all signals to the Imperial Star Destroyer

This is the Battlestar Madila of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal to the Imperial Star Destroyer that attacked two of our battlestars. You attacked our ships unprovoked. Do you wish a war? Your FTLi is very quant, but is pathetic in stopping our FTL drives. Power your weapons down or we will be forced to destroy you.

"The Battlestar Madila?"

"What it was my mothers name."
