U.S.S. PRESIDENT SHANU AERI, IN PUBLIC BROADCAST TO THE SHALRIRORCHIAN PEOPLE AND THE UNITED NATIONS:
"My fellow Shalrirorchians.
As many of you are now aware, at approximately 3:00 PM yesterday afternoon, Shalrirorchian naval assets in neutral waters were assaulted by a vast Hatarian armada. Despite our advanced technology, the U.S.S. fleet suffered a heavy defeat. Shalrirorchian naval losses were heavy, including soldiers and sailors who drowned because the merciless Hatarians prevented rescue operations from being conducted by U.S.S. assets in the area.
Let me be quite clear. This was an unprovoked attack. Shalrirorchian naval operations in this region were confined to the interdiction of Hatarian military commerce vessels. These vessels were not seized or even boarded by our Shalrirorchian military...they were merely forced to return to Hataria. This in itself was a reaction to aggressive war launched by Hataria upon other nations.
Word comes late tonight that the Hatarian Imperial Diet has sought to justify this attack by a retroactive extension of Hatarian naval boundaries. They claim that we were intruding in their seas, and that we have paid the price.
There can only be one response to such murderous intent. I have asked the Shalrirorchian Senate for a declaration of hostilities between Hataria and Shalrirorchia. *holds up the resolution*.
The Senate voted 100-0 in favor of the resolution declaring...and I quote:
-Resolved, that the Hatarian assault on Shalrirorchian naval assets was premeditated, aggressive, and uncalled for,
-Resolved, that Hataria's wars of conquest represent a serious threat to freedom around the world,
-Resolved, that Shalrirorchia is within its' rights as a sovereign nation to address its' own defense...
...it is therefore declared that a state of war exists between Shalrirorchia and Hataria as of the time of this document's approval in Senate.
As your President, I call upon every Shalrirorchian to do his and her patriotic duty and stand for freedom and democracy. We will not give in to the crazed demands of our enemies. We will stand and fight, and we will win.
