OOC: Situation so far:

The Union of People's and Worker's States has collapsed, and Russia, wishing to continue socialism in Panama and Costa Rica, has secretly sent help to the rebels. A number of Russian attacks have occured, none of which have been IDed so far. Panamanian Rebels have pushed north to remove the loyalists and a UPWS supply ship was sunk in the Canal.

Official message from las Repúblicas Unidas del Sur

The RUS deplores the actions taken by the RSFSR. Their attacks on the peaceful nation of Panama are nothing but imperialist agression. The people of Panama must overthrow their goverment, solve the problem with the rebels, and establish a fair and democratic goverment, free of corruption and bad intentions.

You don't know that the RSFSR is even here. A small group of ships moved in very stealthily about two months ago.

The Greater Empire cannot permit Panamanian instability, given the vital trade conduit of the Panama Canal. As such, the Emperor has authorized a police action within the nation of Panama to stabilize it and permit free traffic through the Canal. The Empire also would like to issue a warning to all other nations -- If evidence is found that any nation is arming the rebellion in Panama, punitive actions will be taken.

The Greater Empire of North America

Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is one of the massive Imperial control zones in the Caribbean and South Atlantic. The First Fleet is stationed in this base, comprising 97 ships of varying size, as well as a dedicated Marine Corps division stationed there. This base gave the American Empire de facto hegemony over many of the developing nations of the Caribbean, allowing the Emperor, when he chooses, to open a can of "police action" on some random island. Being the Emperor has it's perks on occasion, it seems.

"Admiral!" a runner yelled, attempting to catch up to Admiral Washburn, as he walked through the dockyards of Guantanamo Bay. The runner, breathing heavily, stopped when the Admiral did, saluting.

"New orders have been wired from the high command, for your eyes only." the runner said, handing a manila envelope to Washburn, and standing at attention.

"Thank you, private, dismissed." Washburn said, waving the private away.

He flipped open the envelope, read it twice quickly, and then began to scour every letter. The contents of the envelope instructed him exactly what to do in his latest police action - Launch an aerial bombardment of the coast of Panama, then land the marine division there and establish a beach head. US Army divisions along with Colombian army soldiers would enter through the south of Panama, securing the Canal Zone and destroying all Communist rebels there. The Panamanians were not known for their military prowess, and the rebels weren't especially bright either.

This'll be a cakewalk.. thought Washburn as he turned around and headed to a communications room..

Nobody ever RP'ed their satellites tracking the ships even though I made at least three posts on the movements of the ships to Panama on the General IC thread. And a little off topic, but if you ever want a weapons deal, give my embassy a ring :)

Caribbean Coast of Panama
AENS Gerald R. Ford

"Admiral, we are in position." the navigation officer of the American carrier said. The fleet was approximately 18 nm off of the Panamanian coast, with carrier aircraft preparing to launch and strike at military installations. Panama had no blue-water navy assets capable of challenging the American force, so the first strikes would be simply at radio towers and airfields. As Admiral Washburn gave the order, the first waves of F-18 Super Hornet fighters taxiied off the massive American supercarrier, headed for Panamanian army and air force bases with ground attack munitions in their bays. Zumwalt class destroyers as well as their older siblings, the Arleigh Burkes, began launching missiles to soften the landing beaches, supporting the landing marines.

Hundreds of Marine dropships hit the waters, pushing ahead to the Panamanian shore with no apparent counterfire. All the while, American transport planes and ships were moving army troops to Colombian bases, where they could support the invasion from the southern angle. The amphibious landing came just above the Canal Zone, allowing a strategy of securing the Canal first, with the rest of the country being secondary to American interests.

Soon after the American landings forces from Free South America landed about 10 miles south of the canal. The ships had their guns ready to fire as the FSAAC (Free South America Air Corps) circled above waiting for the enemy. The troops hit the beach and moved to create a perimeter about a mile from the beach. Engineers started work on an air strip and finding a place to create docks at. The lack of resistance caught the troops off guard and everyone waited for all hell to break loose. In an hour they had reached the first day objectives without firing a shot.

Loyalist Northern Command, Colon, Panama

Colonel Ruiz Santiago stood in front of the rest of the Loyalist Commanders and looked at a map of the Rebel and Loyalist positions. Suddenly, a series of explosions rocked the shore nearby. "Cover!" yelled a soldier who threw the Commanders to the ground. A transmission came through on the Radio to the Command Post.

Colonel! There are American troops landing on our beaches! The Colonel picked up the transmitter and sent a message to the beachhead.

"All troops report to your defensive positions. Prepare to push the Americans back into the water.

At the beach...

Rockets were falling on the beach from the ships offshore, pounding everything not protected from the rain of destruction. Most of the soldiers were in their crude defensive line made up of trenches and shelters supported by currogated sheet metal and woodworks. Soldiers began to move to their MG nests and bunkers and prepared to fend off the attack.

General Angelos Jimenez was the theater commander in dealing with the Panama situation. He would have absolute authority over the joint task force.

A combined effort of Army, Navy, and Air Force was to be set upon upon the Socialistas in Panama to aid with the American intervention. The IRR would attack over land and by air and support US naval operations.

The Americans had already been cleared to refuel and re-arm in Colombia.

Ships from the south from the small nations adjecent to the IRR had decided to intervene, General Jimenez rather then show his hand had not order them to be stopped or sunk. There would be time to deal with those mischeif makers later.

The audacity of the RSFSR floating ships in as if the IRR wouldnt notice military vessels just crsuising into the Front Yard of the IRR...the absurdity was enough to make one wet their pants laughing if it wasnt for the fact that now people were going to die...a lot of people. Damned Europeans(This is meant to be read as White) when ever they do anything brown people fall like wheat to the scythe.

Cleareance to utilize San Andres Island to make attacks against shore based targets was also given.

It was the sincere hope of the IRR government that the Americans would push straight through to Costa Rico, but if not...then the IRR would.

Leftists had been responsible for decades of suffering throughout the IRR and this was an opportunity to cut it from the heart of Central America.

IRR air power in the form F-16s, SU-30s and Mig-29s would clamp down Panamanian Aircraft while Super Tweets, Broncos, Frogfoots, and enough Super Tucano's to black the sky would begin a campaign of SEAD, and attacks on points of resistance to IRR forces moving north into Panama. The Colombian FUDRA(Fast Reaction Forces) were already penetrating the Panamanian Jungle ahead of regular Colombian Army. The FUDRA were trained specifically to deal with insurgent forces and were eager to drive a knife in the heart of the leftist beast now growing above the IRR.

The hammer blow would open the hostilities, in a move that was criticized by several members of the War Cabinet, General Jimenez ordered a dozen Canberra bombers to begin bombing runs on all points of any none IRR, none US military concentration. The Fighters would literally be spotting for the Canberra bombers who be only 5-7 minutes behind them.

Targeting fuel depots, military installations, anything American SATCOM had designated as potential "Threat" was to be targeted. Where the Carrier based aircraft could not go, IRR air power was not so limited.

"Indeed," General Jimenez said as he watched the first of what was expected to be several thousand sorties take-off from Northern Colombia.

"Sir? " His second inquired.

"Indeed, today is a terrible. Indeed what we do is a terrible thing, against wretched foe. We stand my friend at a precipace, and we teeter on its brink.
If we fall, then consider all the work of generations to be for nothing."
The General stared at the mix of Russian and NATO aircraft lift off to defend the people of this great land from the Leftist influence. His second could only reply "Indeed."

IMPERIAL DECLARATION

The Imperial Cabinet is vastly disappointed that the situation involving the civil war in Panama has decisively been interrupted by numerous neighbors, and while the Han government would rather point fingers, we are sorrowfully angered that none of the countries are willing to defer barbarian policies of expansionism and extortionism. We have nonetheless resigned the fate of Panama to the senseless slaughter between five (Panama, USA, Cortellen, IRR, and CAA) countries. The retribution of such actions will likely affect the region for many years, and as such, the Empire refuses either to aid or assist any efforts until all countries are willing to abandon expansionist policy and affix to civilized government of their territories.

Free South American response:
We are only here to stabilize the country. We wish to see the proper Panamanian government restored to power and this civil war ended. We will leave as soon as this has ended so we do not see how this is expansionist as we get nothing out of this except for stable neighbors.

Panama Beach
Ground attack missiles smashed into the bunkers and pillboxes of the Panamanian coast as the first dropships hit the beach, the smoke from the missiles obscuring their advance. A marine corps tank offloader hit the beach and an amphibious assault vehicle loaded out, the 40mm grenade launcher sending grenades into exposed positions, and the vehicle covered the advance of the other marines up the beach. A brief respite in the missile fire was given to the Panamanians, only to be replaced overhead by a wing of F-18 Super Hornets. Entrenched Panamanian positions were bombarded by AGM-65 Maverick penetrator missiles, where the air superiority of the AE Navy would come into focus. Hundreds of marines continued to pour onto the beach, some dying from Panamanian counter-fire, most returning fire at any Panamanian they could see as the crawl up the beach proceeded.

Support fire was provided by the DDXs and Arleigh Burke destroyers off shore, along with the F-18 Super Hornet aircraft acting in a limited CAS capacity. Some armour had landed, using Amphibious Assault Vehicles mostly for light armour support. Others, unfortunately, had unloaded prematurely and the crew of the vehicles was desperately trying to get the vehicle unstuck and moving again to join the moving battle.

Colon Beachhead, Panama

"Fire!" screamed the Panamanian leader on the beach. The surviving soldiers opened up on invaders with machine gun fire and grenades. Reinforcements were coming in from Colon in the form of five Panhard VBL Scout Cars. A Panamanian loaded an RPG and shot at a landing craft, letting the rocket sail towrds its target.

OOC: and Capitalism isnt really a political system its an economic system, where Socialism is a broad Socio-Political system.
So one being contra-socialist does not a capitalist make.
