Islamic Revolution Unseats Secular Government

The streets of Beilsograd were alight with burning cars and muzzle flashes as thousands of young Dunavs fired celebratory bursts into the air from their weapons. On the front of the old parliament building, beside the traditional standard and the state motto in the Dunav slavic language hung a black banner with the shahadah in white arabic script.

Over the capital city's loudspeakers, the familiar voice of Imam Osman Hajjibegovic blared, overwhelming the shouts of the people and the noise of their guns.

"Dunavs, my brothers and sisters, today is a great day. Our struggle which began only ten days ago has ended in ultimate triumph, a testament to popular will and the strength of our faith. The secularists and heretics who have oppressed our voices for so long lie wretched in the streets, torn from their mansions and the seats of their power. For the first time in our recent history, a pure state will be born amid the rivers and hills of our homeland, free from the oppression of the demigogues and their idols."

As the great man's speech wafted over the domes and columns of the old city, into the alleys and among the canals, the thunder of artillery and tank cannon in the distance provided a bass line, underscoring every sentence he spoke. With fire and brimstone, the small nation of Dunavia had begun a new era.

Declaration of the Islamic Republic of Dunavia

Through the wise leadership of the most holy Imam Osman Hajjibegovic, the Islamic Unity Party has succeeded in unseating the corrupt Democratic Republic and has replaced it with a pure government, more suiting to the will of the Dunav Muslim majority. The great Imam has decreed that until the proper steps can be taken to establish a legislative body in line with his principles and those of the faithful, he will appoint a number of khalifas to administer the state. He has further decreed his intentions to disband the Dunav military, which has for long been a tool of oppression by the secular state, to be reconstructed from among the faithful. In the meantime, Dunavia will be protected and policed by the Imam's own loyal soldiers, the Fedayeen Dunavia.

Imam Hajjibegovic has also announced his desire to extend relations to other states in the larger community, particularly those similar in faith and principles.

Dunavia is a small nation, and lacks the funds it needs to create a useful industrial infrastructure and thus become self sufficient. While the Revolution has freed our hearts and minds, the Dunav people are still slaves to their own poverty. Any amount of financial aid would be greatly appreciated, and would go both to the development of infrastructure and the formation of a stable bureaucratic government. The Dunav state, under His Holiness the Imam, would also seek to work out a trade agreement with your own nation, as a further source of income, as well as diplomatic ties.

On the northern Dunav coast, a cloud of dust was visibly forming, hanging heavily over the grassy knolls and rocky coastal ridges Under a clear blue sky, the small coastal town of Luska rested. Fishermen sat on the docks, their small boats bobbing nearby as they took a midday meal with their brethren and wives. A few craters dotted the landscape and the ravaged hull of a small freighter, capsized during an old war and never salvaged, ran orange and brown with the rays of the sun. The cross atop an old Orthodox church cast a long shadow in the cobblestone square in front of it.

As the dust cloud grew larger, so did the noise of old engines, and shortly a convoy of a dozen trucks was visible from the hills upon which the southern corner of the village was constructed. They continued uninhibited, not stopping until they came within a few yards of the houses on the edge of the town, when three of the trucks broke off and blocked off the single road leading into town. From the beds of the trucks, nearly 30 men poured out, all armed, most of them masked. They were clad in plain clothes, though they all displayed in some fashion a black and red strip of cloth, which in many cases was the only identifier for members of the Imam's Fedayeen.

The rest of the convoy proceeded into town, and the rest of the contingent unloaded. By now, many of the fishermen had come up from the shore to see what was happening, and women and children waited curiously in the doors of their homes. They watched as a man, unmasked and wearing what amounted to a shabby uniform (some old green fatigues and a red shemagh tied loosely around his neck) got out from the cab of one of the trucks, and began hammering a notice to the door of the church, by far the largest structure in town. Some of the other soldiers dissipated into the streets and hammered similar papers to the doors of homes and shops.

The first man finished hammering and turned to the crowd, casting a cold, unimpressed look at the people before he spoke in a loud though even tone.

"By order of his Holiness, the Imam, all men and boys fit to perform hard labor are to report to this square by dawn tomorrow, where and when they will be inducted into the service of the revolutionary government as laborers. Service to the government is not optional. You will be compensated."

The crowd was quiet. A few murmurs here and there, but by and large the response was peaceful. The officer continued.

"This village will be occupied by this unit of the Fedayeen Dunav until the Imam sees fit to order otherwise."

Throughout the Dunav state, as in this village, the fingers of the Imam were slowly closing. The population, particularly the minority Christian and Jewish element, were being pressed into government service, either as recruits for the new army, or laborers working to improve the infrastructure and repair the damage wrought by the brief though brutal revolution.

WE have seen these rebels fight and we may have a solution to your problems. We are looking for a place in which to begin production of a new vaccine facility. We would be willing to build and protect the building, they only thing you do is sit back and reap the rewards

The Dunav state is unsure of what rebels you refer to. The populace is fully in support of the Imam's revolution, and it is unlikely any sort of revolt against it will take place. Therefore, while we appreciate the offer of financial reward, we must deny your request.

Mobley looked over the latest Intel reports. His spies were everywhere. He was disturbed and upset at this latest report. A nation had had a Islamic Revolution and was now sending Christians and Jews as slave labor. Mobley knew it was only the start of oppression. He had already called Archbishop Maximillion I, and he had pledged his support of his congeration, which was in and around one hundred million people. Mobley knew his Nationalist-Fascist party would fully support his intervention. This new oppressive government would be crushed and a new one installed. God's soldiers would be more than willing to spend blood and money on this campaign. With that, he drafted his orders, and sent it to the 2nd National Army, as well as the Knights of the Lord, the Archbishop's feared soldiers. These forces would crush this regime. Mobley didn't authorize the use of gas weapons for terror quite yet, but he had them in his army.

OOC: People's Freedom, I'm assuming yours is a Christian nation?

Handwritten letter to the government of The People's Freedom

To our Most Upright and Honorable Christian Brothers,

The Dunav Orthodox Church has been most horribly shaken by the recent Muslim uprising within our shared borders. I confess that as a patriarch of the church I am beginning to fear for my own security under the new "revolutionary government," a sentiment I am certain I share with the majority of my congregation, and the wider Dunav Christian community.

There have been rumors circulating throughout Dunavia of a potential intervention by forces from your own nation, directed against the Imam and his Fedayeen. I can tell you now without any doubt that this would be welcomed by the Dunav Christian minority with open arms. We are a sizeable minority, composing close to 20 percent of the population, and could do much with foreign assistance to reverse the Imam's revolution.

I beg that you consider this if intervention is indeed your intention, and should it be, I hope you will attempt to contact me, that the Dunav Christians may play a role in your operations.

Yours in sincerity,
Patriarch Dimitrije Dobrasinovic
