The Seasons Change Once More (OOC Thread; Fantasy/PT Character based War RP)
Aztiluth
26-03-2007, 09:51
EDIT: Here's the IC Thread: IC Thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12506278#post12506278)
I. Purpose
I had started a thread like this quite some time ago. It was turning out rather well, but seemed to die out due because the participants were rather busy. Later, I accidentally let my account expire. I recently managed to get it back and hope to restart this thread. Any previous participants are encouraged to rejoin this RP. I hope to have a good number of players before I start. *Note: I’ve made some changes to the classes and nations so make sure to take a look.
I've read through some factbooks and found that some have parts regarding the formation of their nation/planet. I too would like to have some interesting background information like this in my factbook. With this said, I want to do this a little bit differently. Rather than just randomly typing out of how Aztiluth came to be, I want to actually have it RPed out.
As you can probably tell from the title, this RP will involve fantasy/ past tech. But rather than having each player control an entire faction or nation, each player will instead control one to two characters. The format for characters will be described in detail below.
While I will retain overall control of this thread, the outcome of this RP is by no means set in stone. What I intend to do, once this thread is complete, is to add a summarized version of the thread to my factbook. Also, all characters who participate will be noted as well in the factbook and will be considered historical figures of Aztiluth.
II. Synopsis
It is the year 735 ES(Eternal Sphere). The whispers of war are rampant, traveling by word of mouth, crisscrossing both the continents of Gaitt and Greeton. Rumors are in abundance. Stirrings in both the Technological Superpower of Greeton and the Military Superpower of Airyglyph has in turn led to the military buildup in the Sacred Kingdom of Aquaria and the other nations that lie between Airyglyph and Aquaria. All but the dumbest realize that war is just around the corner and are scrambling to find shelter.
All that is needed now is a change in the winds of fate and war will begin....
III. Nations
Here (http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/map2.jpg)is a map of the nations. Black dots represent the location of each nation's capital.
Below are the names of the various nations of the continents of Gaitt and Greeton along with brief descriptions.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Airyglyph.jpg
Airyglyph, Military Superpower- A military nation ruling the mountainous northern regions of the continent of Gaitt. Seeking to establish a unified rule over the entire continent, it has made aggressive moves to realize its goal. The prowess of its three armies strikes fear into the hearts of those living in neighboring lands. These three armies include a cavalry brigade (the Storm Brigade), heavy cavalry (the Black Brigade), and an air assault brigade (the Dragon Brigade). With the exception of Kadan , Airyglyph is rumored to have the strongest military force on Gaitt. The capital of the nation is Airyglyph Castle.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Greeton.jpg
Greeton, Technological Superpower- Located on the continent of Greeton, Greeton is well known for its technological sophistication. A portion of the population of Greeton is comprised of humanoids known as the Crafters, and is rumored to possess a relatively high level of mechanical technology. However, details about Greeton are scarce as it closed itself off to outsiders centuries ago. Its specialties lie in its powerful mechanized armies. The capital of the nation is Lesonia.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Aquaria.jpg
Sacred Kingdom of Aquaria- A theocratic kingdom located on the continent of Gaitt, the Kingdom of Aquaria refers to itself as a "Sacred Kingdom".The Church of Light, which has many followers throughout the continent, was born in this kingdom. Ever since the Torastic Religious War that occurred seven hundred years ago, an unbroken line of royalty dating back to the age of this kingdom's predecessor, the Sacred Kingdom of Aquor, has ruled the land. Perhaps due to the recent incursions of the Kingdom of Airyglyph, the current ruler of this country, Aquaria XXVII, is allocating a tremendous amount of resources to research into runology. It is renowned for its runologists and spies/assassins. Aquaria military is made up of three branches: the Chain Legion (assassins), the Shield Legion (runologists), and the Sword Legion (infantry and cavalry). The capital of the nation is the city of Aquios.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Samnite.jpg
Sanmite Republic- This nation is located primarily in the desert. The population consists mostly of humanoid nomads along with some urban dwellers. While its military is considered rather weak, but is renowned for its warriors' ferocity in combat and skill in desert combat. The capital of this nation is Mosel.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Barr.jpg
Nation of Barr- This nation is located in the mountain range known as the Barr Mountains. As such, the nation is forced to import nearly all of its food supply, but makes up for this weakness with its enormous mineral veins. This unfortunately has led Airyglyph to greatly desire its lands. Barr's military is special in that it is the only military other than Airyglyph's on the continent of Gaitt that employs dragon-mounted warriors. With that said, their military is nonetheless small, but highly trained. Its capital is the city of Traum.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/YokudanFlag.jpg
Nation of Durna- Durna is a nation of extremely fertile soil and mineral deposits. This, sadly, has drawn the attention of all its neighbors. Because of this, all citzens of the nation must serve in the military for at least 5 years and can be recalled in case of war. This nation is renowned for its cavalry forces, which is only second to Airyglyph's.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Palmira.jpg
Palmira Republic- The Palmira Republic is large nation that has very fertile land. Its primary industry is agriculture. Despite its proximity to Airyglyph, Palmira has a small standing army. Alongsided this small standing army is a sort of "national guard." Even with both these armed forces, they total to less than a third of Airyglyph's forces. With this said, Palmira is renowned for its expert archers, on whom the nation heavily relies. The captial is the city of Expedis.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/Suferio.jpg
Dominion of Suferio- This large nation is primarily desert with occasional areas of fertile land. Like the Sanmite Republic, Suferio's population is a combination of nomads and city dwellers. The military itself is of respectable size, relying on the desert and the skill of its assassins.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j225/Seidou/GrandCross-1.jpg
Sacred Lands of Kaddan- Kaddan is a small theocratic nation located east of Aquaria. This small nation is unusually fortunate in that it is situated in an area of incredibly fertile soil and rich mineral deposits. Kaddan was known for its inhabitants zealous dedication to the Light. The nation has isolated itself from the outside world for 300 years now with no trade going in or out of the nation. When its military was last seen, it was considered the most powerful out of all the continent's armies, despite its small size. Its forces were last known to consist of four branches: "The Divine Order", "The Holy Order", "The Blessed Order", and "The Sacred Order." The first two were renowned for its mighty knights and swordsmen, while the third for its wise and powerful mages and priests; however, the last order is greatly different from the first three. The Sacred Order is by far the smallest branch of the Kaddan military, but is the strongest, containing among other things the assassination corps and the legendary Shrine Lancers. The capital is the city of Arkives.
IV. Races of Aztiluth
On the world of Aztiluth, there are the usual races (i.e. Wood elves, high elves, humans, dwarves, etc.). There are more interesting ones, though, listed below.
Klausian- Klausians have a body superior to those of humans. For example,
their athletic prowess and eye sight are far better. Males are
marked by three green lines on their necks.
Menodix- Humanoid lifeforms that seems to have evolved from raccoons,
having large furry ears and bushy tails. Menodix usually have a very
short temper and are great treasure hunters, making them seem
miserly or annoying. They primarily live in the Sanmite Republic.
Crafters-A race of humanoids that is physically frailer than humans, but has
an affinity for runology. To make up for their frail frames, Crafters
are highly dexterous and skilled in anything involving engineering or
technology. Almost all Crafters are born or live in the Technological
Superpower of Greeton.
V. Archetypes
In this RP, you can pretty much pick from the general class pools (i.e. assassin, knight, archer, thief, etc.), but for those who want something more, please feel free to pick from some that I have listed below. Also, feel free to make up your own, but please ask for approval first.
Military Superpower of Airyglyph:
-Dragon Knight: Members of Airyglyph’s Dragon Brigade. Among the military branches, they are considered the elite and most fearsome. The are skilled in guiding their mounts into complex maneuvers and excel in the use of lances and swords. A primary weakness of these knights is the light armor they wear to allow their mounts increased speeds.
-Black Brigade Heavy Blades: Just as their name implies, these warriors wield devastating massive swords that are often equal or greater in size to a human. They generally equip heavy armor, but carry no shields, using their massive blades as mobile barriers. A weakness is their slow movement on the field, which can be countered through extensive training.
Technological Superpower of Greeton:
Marine: Highly trained soldiers who excel in the use of firearms and close range combat. They’re considered the elite soldiers of Greeton’s forces. Marines are often equipped with light to medium armor and carry pistols and rifles. For close range combat, they employ Greeton’s newly developed vibration knife, capable of tearing through a sheet of steel with sickening ease. The downsides of such a force are the scars left by their personal life and training and their vulnerability to long range assaults by magic users.
-Mechateer: Drawn exclusively from the race of Crafters, they excel in the manipulation of magic. In addition to their magical prowess, they are exceptionally gifted in engineering and are the creators of Greeton’s mechanized corps. A mechateer wears only light armor in combat, but wields powerful runology and controls special humanoid mechanical soldiers. The only flaw is their lack of physical stamina and overall physical frailty.
Sacred Kingdom of Aquaria:
-Royal Runologist: A spell caster wielding the might of magic via runes inscribed into their body. Using these runes, they are able to channel large amounts of energy and use them as weapons and such. Among other spell casters, they rank as some of the most powerful. A downside is their physical frailty, a result of their dedication to their art.
-Summoner Runologist: A subgroup of the Royal Runologist, specializing in calling forth mighty elemental beasts. Their number are few and they often are even more physically weak than other mages, but their skill more than compensates.
Sanmite Republic:
-Eyes of the Sand: The special forces of the Sanmite Republic. They are the specialize in scouting and ambushing their foes. Unique to these soldiers is the ability of manipulate the sands of the desert at will. The glaring weakness of this organization is their small size and lack of proper equipment.
Nation of Barr:
-Midnight Wardens: These are the dragon riders of Barr. Mounted on their mighty beasts, they possess many of the same traits as their Airyglyph counterparts, but lack the same training, this is compensated by their ability to improvise on the fly.
Durna:
- Keeper of the Plains: Elite among the mounted cavalry of Durna. Highly trained in sword arts, they are able to bend the elements of earth and water with their skill. Unlike Airyglyph’s cavalry, these knights equip medium armor to increase their mobility.
Palmira Republic:
-National Guard: A reserve corps of soldiers made up of volunteers. While they may sound weak, in reality they are as capable as the standing army. Skilled with sword and shield as well as the spear, they are legendary for their shield wall formation and their phalanx units.
-Windspeakers: These are the elite archer units of Palmira. If there is one thing that Palmira claim, which no other nation can do the same, is that the Windspeakers are the best archers in all the world, exceeded and bested by none. It is said that a number of these elite archers have made pacts with the Essence of the Wind and are able to manipulate the air about them as they almost at will.
Dominion of Suferio:
-Dancer Cross : Palmira has its Windspeakers and Suferio has its Dancer Crosses. Among assassins, their name is only whispered in fear or awe, but always with the deepest respect. Matched by none, these assassins are rumored to have originated in Kaddan, due to their affinity in manipulating life and spiritual energies. Wielding thin ancient blades forged ages ago in Kaddan, they are able to slip in and out of any shadow, seemingly at will. In addition, they are able to manipulate the very essence of life in each person. Their weaknesses though are their small number and vulnerability to long range assaults and heavily armored soldiers.
Sacred Lands of Kaddan:
-Knight of the Divine Order: Skilled knights highly trained in sword art. Wielding sword infused with the very essence of the Light, they are able to shatter almost anything their enemies wear and wield as well as calling upon the Light to strengthen themselves, able to move at unnaturally quick speeds. Often fighting on foot, the warriors are the lighter forcers of Kaddan, wielding either a long sword and shield or two long knives. There are recognized by their dark green robes and tunics. The primary weakness of these fighters are their inability to engage snipers and magic users.
-Knight of the Holy Order: Powerful knights highly trained in manipulating holy energy. Holy knights fight well on mount and on foot. Skilled with the sword, they call upon the Light to strike their enemies with powerful skills. While divine knight focus on speed, holy knights focus on defense and the power of their attacks, often wielding a sword and shield or a massive heavy blade. They are often considered the orders heavy troops, capable of withstanding a cavalry charge. Like Airyglyph’s heavy blades, these warriors are much slower when wielding massive blades. Also these knights as a whole are generally weak against long range assaults from artillery.
-Sage of the Shrine: Raised and trained in the capital of Arkives, these are the magic users and historians of Kaddan. Wielding the power of the very elements, these mages are devastating on the battlefield, but only wear light armor, leaving them vulnerable in close range combat.
-Weaver of the Shrine: These are the priests of Kaddan, trained only in the main temple in Arkives. Wielding the power of the Light, they are able to heal and smite, making them valuable allies. Unique to them is their skill in using their primary weapon: chains forged from holy steel. Wielding these chains into battle, they fight gracefully and are deadly in close and medium range combat. They’re weakness though is the light armor they wear.
-Lancers of the Shrine: Drawn from the Sacred Order, they are the elite of the elite. The best of the best of Kaddan. Skilled in the arts of magic and martial skill. They wield lances and shield forged from holy steel. Regardless of the weight of their armor, these warriors are able to move with inhuman speed, exceeding the speed of the divine knights. Able to channel holy energy with ease, they are both healers and fighters. The only real weakness is their small number, numbering only three hundred in all.
VI. Note to Dragon Riders
There are several dragon types available as mounts.
-Great Dragons: What people, who have played D&D, would recognize. They're far larger and physically stronger than any other dragons. Not only that, they alone of the dragon races are able to use magic/symbology along with their breath weapon. In addition, their intelligence ranges from being equal with that of humans (note: When I mean equal to that of humans, I meant humans as in the average human person and not some random drunk or the village idiot to being even smarter than humans. The latter is possible because of their long life span.). *Note: If a player chooses a Great dragon as a mount, he or she better be prepared to explain why.
-Air Dragons: The primary mount of Airyglyph’s Dragon Brigade. A type of dragon that has extremely large wings and a body size more compact than that of other dragons. This allows them to soar through the skies faster than any other dragon on Aztiluth. Air Dragons have a relatively short lifespan for a dragon race, and mostly live only two to three centuries, although some rare individuals have been known to live for almost 1000 years. An Air Dragon's intelligence various from dragon to dragon as it is with all other dragons. On the whole, Air Dragons tend to be just more intelligent than most animals, but there are exceptions in which some have been found to be just as intelligent as humans.
-Winged Dragon: A general term that refers to any type of dragon with wings that can fly. On Aztiluth, this term is mainly used to refer to the world's wild dragons. Usually, all flying dragons are referred to as winged dragons, but in the Kingdom of Airyglyph, a distinction is made between the vitally important air dragons and other flying dragons. Therefore air dragons are not referred to as winged dragons in this kingdom. Winged Dragons intelligence as is the case with other dragons tends to vary from dragon, but on the whole, a Winged Dragon is generally smarter than most animals.
-Lesser Dragons: Basically dragons that are no bigger than most humans. While they do have wings, most cannot use them to fly for extended periods of time. Generally, the wings are only used to gain an advantage when hunting prey or fighting. Also, Lesser Dragons tend to be no smarter than the average predator.

A small bump.
I think my character Mina Aiko was a Klausian Captain in the Dragon Brigade, but I will hunt through my files tomorrow to find her.
Also, I may add another character.
Aztiluth
27-03-2007, 05:12
Ah, don't worry about your character. I found it earlier while reading through the old posts.
Name: Mina "The Lotus" Aiko
Age: Klausian
Race: 23
Birthplace: Airyglyph
Archetype: Swordswoman and Dragon Rider
Physical Description: 5'4" - 125 lbs, (Picture)
Equipment: Dresses in a style all her own. Mina uses a finely crafted sword (specifically for her) as well as various throwing blades. She also has twin daggers hidden in her greaves.
Skills: She is a master swordswoman and skilled with various blades (all benefited by her Klausian heritage and race). As a dragon rider, she is above average but nothing special.
Relations: Serves in the Dragon Brigade of Airyglyph
Bio: Mina was always fascinated by blades as a girl. Her mother was a chef... maybe a cook... and often brought her young daughter to work with her for fear of leaving her alone. While waiting around the kitchens as her mother prepared meals, Mina watched her deal expertly with different kitchen knives and blades. One day she decided to experiment and stole one away when nobody was looking... and the rest is history.
She wasn't at all interested in serving in the powerful military of Airyglyph, but in the end, she had no other choice. Not skilled in terribly much else besides the art of a blade (in which she was a master by sixteen of her own accord), Mina could not hold a steady job to provide for herself, let alone a family she was expected to have in the future. She finally joined the Dragon Brigade of the military and has served in it for the last five years.
Feel free to make another if you choose.

Alright, cool Az. I might edit/add to it though.

Found my character's bio finally. So here he is resurrected,
Name: Beleg
Age: 26
Race:
Birthplace: Palmira Republic
Archetype: Archer and/or Ranger
Physical Description: Blue eyes with brown hair just reaching his shoulders.
Hieght is about 6'3" with a muscular build that comes from years in the military.
Equipment: Heavy Longbow, large quiver, survival kit, and short sword.
Skills: Beleg is a survivor and can live off the land fairly easily knowing what's acceptable to eat out in the wild and what can have a man gripping his stomach for a week. His skills also range to be a topnotch archer as well as having some skills with the sword.
Relations: Beleg is relatively unimportant person as he was not born from any noble or someone greatly renowned. His distinguishment comes from his prowess on the battlefield and his ability to command a small number of men.
Bio: Beleg was the son of a farmer that owned land near the border of Durna. When he was sixteen, he decided to join the Republic's military where he was first tested in archery skills and melee. From growing up on the frontier, he had aquired decent skills with the bow for hunting and was moved to archer batallions. However, he had shown promise with the sword and had never given up practicing. It wasn't until he had killed his first human being that he aquired a sword of his own. Prying the hilt of the sword from the cold dead hands and removing the sheath from the slain's waist, Beleg strapped the sword around and has carried it ever since. Some have even followed suit since being an archer does not exempt one from close attack. A sword is something that an archer can reach for to ward off attacks until the professionals arrive to assist. As time went by he had gained more favor with the government and the men around him. For a promotion gift, he was given a unique bow that was stronger and heavier than most conscripts carried or even could use. The bow carried greater accuracy and strength for the archer and carrying it around has lent to an increase in Beleg's muscle mass not to mention his deadly accuracy.

31-03-2007, 20:17

Hey Az, I was just wondering, if this ever gets up and going, how exactly is it going to work?
(If you need clarifying of what I mean, do say)

I think I know what you're asking, but correct me if I'm wrong. If I can get this rp running, I'm debating between whether I should start from where it last ended or from a new beginning. At the moment, I'm leaning toward the latter since there'll be new participants.
Err... I meant more sort of, the actual RP. Seeing how this is the history of your nation with different factions and such, how does our RPing of characters affect the overall status of the different factions.
Aztiluth
01-04-2007, 05:40
Ah, I see. As most characters will be involved with the war, their actions will eventually lead to which nations will come out on top, thus deciding which of these factions will choose how history is written for the future. I'd say more, but that might give away the little schemes I've developed :D
I see... but I mean, are you going to be giving us the situations, or saying how the rest of our military is fighting, or do we in our character posts? What about the factions that don't have any RPers?
Aztiluth
01-04-2007, 08:28
I'll narrate how the situations and how the rest of the armies fight, but the results of the conflict will often depend on how each person plays out his or her character. This is crucial since it seems that most players will have some soldiers under their command. For example, a player's army might be defeated no matter what, but depending on how it is rped out, the player may suffer varying amounts of casualties. But if you have any inspiration, telegram me and we'll work it out. Otherwise, I'll take care of everything else.
Ah, that is what I was looking for. Sounds good.
Ghost Tigers Rise
01-04-2007, 20:52
Name: Mikhail Glyndŵr
Age: 22
Race: Human
Birthplace: Airyglyph
Archetype: Dragon Knight
Physical Description: Tall, sinewy. Long blond hair, tied back. Blue eyes. A large number of scars (I'll try to find a fitting picture...)
Equipment: 55-inch military bastard sword, cavalry pike, several javelins, heater shield, mail
Skills: Mikhail is a decent fighter - he's moderately talented with his sword, javelins, and pike, - and he's a decent leader, but he really excels in defense and survival. It's hard to hurt him, and, when he is hurt, he can often shrug off the punishment and continue fighting. He is crisscrossed with scars, remnants of wounds that would have killed many lesser men.
Relations: He's a sergeant of Airyglyph's Dragon Brigade
Bio: Mikhail has been a member of Airyglyph's army since he was old enough to be eligible. He was the son of a working-class laborer, and joined the military to escape a life of drudgery. He proved his talents on the battlefield, and moved up through the ranks quickly.
By his third year of service, he joined the ranks of the Dragon Brigade.
He is very loyal to Airyglyph, and dedicated to its cause.

Well, good for whoever made their character a captain... Sinan is just a lowley conscript. Though he has wicked skills with a sword. No match for a Dragon though...
Somehow I doubt there would be conscripts in the elite Dragon Brigade... but whatever.

Name: Cap. Coravel Lydre "The Wolf"
Age: 17
Race: Human
Birthplace: Lesonia, Greeton
Archetype: Soldier
Physical Description: Tall at two inches over six feet, and muscular without being bulky. He is in supreme physical shape for a human, while he can't go one on one with a Klausian, (who can?) he still has a layer of hard muscle. His hair is a dark brown and black mixture, cut raggedly and kept out of his eyes by a dark green headband. His most macabre features are a pair of facial scars, one running horizontal along his left jawline, the other vertically from where neck meets shoulder to temple on his right. His most unique physical attributes however, are his eyes. The left is gray like cold steel, the right is a bright, Imperial turbolaser green. He wears a nonstandard uniform in shades of green and brown.
Equipment: Leather armor, musket, ammunition and powder, multiple daggers, raincloak, hat and/or helmet, sword, and a soldier's pack containing bedroll pup-tent, rations, badages, and other odds and ends.
Skills: Marksmanship, field medicine, fishing, juggling, swiming, limited tracking, foraging, and stealth, knowledge in tactics and warfare. Ability to play the harmonica and sub-par swordsmanship.
Relations: Is a Marine captain in the service of Greeton.
Bio: Born of middle class parents, Coravel followed in the footsteps of his father, who had himself been a soldier. Quickly showing his ability to adapt and lead, he was given a commission and rose to the rank of captain. As a marine of Greeton, he recieved training in using the musket, a weapon that gave the ability to strike beyond range of conventional ranged attackers. All marines were taught rudimentary first aid and survival skills. As an officer, he also recived schooling in tactics and strategy. The general view is that officers lead from behind, and as such, his training in swordsmanship was negligible. But, for hs intelligence and tenacity, he gained the moniker of "The Wolf". He is currently stationed in Lesonia.
I know you're out there Old Atlantia! Come back and join us!

Well, not sure you'll be interested in mine, but I'll give you a link to the IC and OOC threads. The title is "The Seasons Change Once More." Take a look and if you're interested sign up in the ooc thread.
Thanks for the referral, and I've decided to join in after all. Here's my info.
Name: Edweard Lesonia
Age: 29
Race: Crafter
Birthplace: Technological Superpower of Greeton; Yorionia General Hospital (South -West Coast)
Archetype: Mechateer
Physical Description: Ed is a quite tall, brown-haired and green eyed Crafter. He is as musclar and has as much stamina as your average Crafter, which isn't really that much, and has a full head of hair.
Equipment: Ed carries a pistol around at all times, and wears Brigandine Armour most of the time when he is on duty, though he will wear slightly heavier armour if it is required. He also carries a small ceremonial sword, but he prefers to give orders to fight rather than recieve them, and thus will often only fight himself using traditional Mechateering methods, thus reducing the sword's point somewhat. He carries all the navigational equipment needed in his trunk, as well as his Mechateering and chemestry stuff as well.
Skills: Ed is skilled in Naval Tactics, and can also hold his own in standard Mechateer skills. He is also quite charismatic, and is also a good shot with his pistol. He also plays darts, and chess, and is a good drawer, but he also smokes, and tends to drink when he's off duty a bit. He is a well known pub goer. But his hatred of Airyglyph means he can't deal with them outside war, and is known to be volitile and agressive toward them, even having POWs shot for the smallest of reasons, if any. Therefore, he is not afaid to kill Airglyphians. Some even suggest he enjoys it. He is known to also practice chemestry in his spare time.
Relations: Being a navy captain, Ed is not married. His mum is still alive, however his Father died 33 years ago. He also has a lot friends in the Greeton Navy, and he passionately hates Airyglyph. He is sometimes known as 'Angry Ed' despite being a calm, reserved and almost humourous person outside of war, due to his infamous hatred of Airyglyphians, and due to this, the Greeton navy is relucant to promote him above captain. He is wanted by the Airyglyphian Government alive as a captive, for some unknown reason. Plus he has also managed to make enemies closer to home, some of which are dangerous enemies to have...
Bio: Ed joined the Navy at the age of 19, and since has become a captain of a small vessel in the Greeton navy. He is also fine at fighting on solid ground, and as well as being a good tactician, he is a charismatic man as well. Though some call him a coward for being relucant to fight himself, these are rumours spread mostly by Airyglyph, which he hates. Although very good at fighting on the high seas, he excells at amphibious landings and raidings. Ed has always had a passionate hatred of Airyglyph
Oh, and just how advanced is Greeton's Navy?

Now Sinan is a conscript. He is not a member of any Elite dragon brigade. he is a keeper of the plains, but not yet. Once the Captains see his potential he will be quickly moved up in the ranks.

Excellent, we've got a good number of participants now! You're approved Weccanfeld. As for Greeton's navy, it is the most advanced navy on the planet. While other nations only have wooden ships and move via sail power. Greeton has a combination of wooden and iron clad vessels. The majority are large wooden galleons with the ironclads used for the most dangerous operations. Both types are equipped with cannons, though they tend to be rather inaccurate and only are medium ranged weapons.
Oh, I just realized Sith was commenting on Captain Bastien D'Aramitz if I'm not mistaken. He's just an npc through which I can help guide the thread. By the way Sith, please refrain from taking to active a role with npcs of higher rank.
And here's a bio for Lysander. I'll have another one up for the others soon.
Greeton
Name: Lysander Sauveterre
Image: http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/SandBears9/Random%20Anime%20Boys/boy1-1.jpg (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/SandBears9/Random%20Anime%20Boys/boy1-1.jpg)
Age:18
Race:Crafter
Birthplace:Avilia, Technological Superpower of Greeton
Archetype: Mechateer
Physical Description: Lysander thin, tall person with white hair and light gray eyes. As most Crafters are, he tends to lean toward the frail side and tires easily when performing strenuous tasks. All over his body are runes, engraved into his flesh, allowing to use runological magic
Equipment:A black robe with various silver trinkets and chains hanging from it. He carries set of thin poisoned throwing needles hidden inside his robe, using them as a weapon of last resort. A magical device of his own invention that is able to store the mechanical creatures that he uses.
Skills:In the Greeton Mechateer Corps, Lysander is renowned for his tactical brilliance when using his units and his skill in handling multiple units at the same time, devastating opponents with deceptive ease. Physically frail, he shirks from physical combat, choosing to rely on his skill as a mechateer and runology.
Relations:His sister Sarah training to serve in the Greeton military as a marine.
Bio: Born as the eldest child, Lysander began training as a mechateer at an early age under the tutelage of his parents, both of whom excelled at it. Soon after reaching the age of 6, he was entered into Greeton's Mechateer Academy. A few years later, his sister was born. At age 12, he graduated at the top of his class. Sadly though, tragedy struck when his parents both died when they intercepted a group of mechateers trying to defect. Orphaned, Lysander entered the military where he met Coravel. Though he is not considered as a legendary mech master, he is recognized as one of the best in the army.

Mine's GMT, by the way.

How does that sound?
Aztiluth
15-04-2007, 21:40
I'm in the Pacific Standard Time zone in the US. As for the war between Greeton and Airyglyph, it currently hasn't even been considered. Greeton is feared by all on Gaitt. Last time Greeton attacked, it took every last nation on Gaitt, banding together, to stop them. At the moment, Greeton is testing the waters here and there and is waiting for the right moment to strike.
Edit: I'm working on the next post right now so bear with me. ^^

Name: Faistian Maron (Face-TEE-un) (Ma-RON)
Age: 39
Race: Human
Birthplace: Unknown (Likely an undisclosed island in the middle of the sea
Archetype: Elemental Wizard (Bends the elements to his will. Pending approval)
Physical Description: Faistian is a rather tall fellow with little muscular strength. Faistian is widely considered underweight by the few that he knows. While his ribs don't show, his face is slightly hollowed out. Faistian's pale skin makes him look rather like an undead lord. Faistian has dark brown eyes. They beam with intelligence. The eyes hold years of knowledge and hundreds of years of experiance. The age-old experiance was learned through books telling of ancient, forbidden magicka that he decided must be harvested. He is usually found clad in black robes, with silver runes lining the etching of the rune's hood. His hand's are wrinkled and old-looking. The staff in which he carries is a long wooden pole with a gold-etched dragon on it. The eyes of the dragon are made of intense rubies. The mouth of the dragon remains closed when spells and hostile beings are not near.
Equipment: Black robes, Staff of Jalusk
Skills: Power of Elemental Magics
Relations: Mostly bad with everyone.
Bio:
It was dawn, the sun flew into the sky with vigor like a lion chasing out the midnight sky. Few knew the location of the isle that held the lush green forests, the untamed wild. Noone knew of the small human settlement on the island. The humans of the villiage of Gavon lived in a peaceful, humble, loving state of existance. Armies from the two continents had not plauged the thus-far uncharted island in the middle of the eastern ocean. The land was fertile and could house a population into the thousands should it ever get that far, despite it's size.
Inside Gavon, a young woman and a young man lay next to each other in a small hut. The two had been wed earlier in the year. They desired a child who they could nurture and behold. Someone who could one day be a leader, and grant them a diplomatic seat on the mainland. This was not to be. Gavon had been steadily increasing it's population for several years. No one know how or why, but as the population continued to increase a demon Pitlord made it's way to the island. The island was peaceful, war could not reign on the island from the human inhabitants, sure they had their differences, but blood-shed never occured. The Pitlord knew to buy his time and await for the humans to give in to their petty squabbles.
The young woman, Tamriela, had a father who was none to please with her marrying the young man, Arthur. The solution to the father was simple: Kill Tamriela's husband and kill the child in her womb. He wanted no foreign blood in his line. His plan was to be set into action on the night of the birth of the child, but Arthur recieved word of his action. He took Tamriela away to a remarkably safe cave. No one could disturb the couple as the child would be born. In Gavon, Tamriela's father's men lined their hut eventually knocking it down, when they didn't recive and answer, and storming the hut finding no one. The father labled them traitors and would never allow them to return to the town. He also declared that he had no daughter.
The child was born..or was it a child? The baby was very pale-skinned in comparison to his mother and father. His hair brown, his mother's blonde. His eye's a brown beaming with intense knowledge even then. The truth was the baby scared his parents. They loved him regardless, however and they gave him his name as 'Faistian'. The boy was not destined to have a happy child hood. Gavonian citizens woulden't even contact Tamriela or Arthur, so food was a problem for all members of the household. Even in his later days Faistian would not forget the hunger that engulfed him or the cruel suffering that he was forced to endure because of the greed and cruel self-worth of one man, one leader. He vowed revenge to his supposed 'grandfather'. Even through these hard times his parents never failed to show him love. That is when he decided that as a human, many peculierties occured. Some to be embraced and cherished and some to be killed and destroyed.
It was when the boy was only 14, that terror struck the island. The Pitlord had returned with 4,000 demons. The township was stricken when they heard this news. The whole town was up in arms over 'a whole legion of demons?' Noone could even begin to comprehend what should be done about the demons on the island. Arthur returned to Gavon and pledged to fight. As did Tamriela. Their choice, though noble, would cost them their lives.
It was not an hour after they had pledged loyalty to the city that the demon army arrived. The fierce charred black skin, ferocious ivory claws, and hair with snakes coming off the back of it. Their eyes were red, without pupils and they distilled a dread horror in all the humans in the village that they were cut down like dogs. The demons didn't even colonize the island. After the village was pillaged and burned, they returned to their domains. Far into the nether reachs of the world.
Faistian was alone in the world now. He had to survive. It was cold and fruitless work. Eating sweet onions on the only good spring left on the island. The only one not touched by the corrupting presence of a demon. It was during a dream one night that he learned that he posessed the gift. He dreamed of a demon lord coming alone to the island in order to open a plane to the nether and call forth an army to destroy the world. Faistian was 15 now. He began calling on the forces of fire, ice, lightning, plasma, and darkness in order to fuel his power. He was a mage of elemental prowess. He could call fire, water, thunder from the skies, ground, out of thin air to destroy his opponents. He dreamed of revenge on the demon lord, but not of the curse bestowed upon him by the demon lord.
The day started out like most other days. Faistian went to get some water, find some sweet onions, which he was severly tired of, and train his magical energies. On the other side of the island, a mavolent presence made itself known. A being far more powerful than any of the demons to ever set foot on the island came forward, and decided that the ruins of Gavon would be the best place to set up a gate to the nether to call forth his army to conquer the known world.
Faistian could feel the demon. He knew the demon. The Pitlord from those years ago had absorbed his followers and had become one of the most powerful beings in the entire world, defeating him would be impossible. But trapping him would not be. Faistian took out a colorless diamond and set off toward the old ruins of Gavon. He had not been there since he had discovered the charred bodies of his parents. He had little desire to return. The demon woulden't be looking for him, so it would be easy to trap him and crush the stone, killing him. Faistian never expected that the demon knew he was here.
As Faistian waded his way through the debries of the old town, the demon who was facing forward simply stated "You have come to kill me." The demon smiled compansionatly as he turned around "I am no match for you my young friend. I have been yearning for death after I left this isle those years ago. I was exiled and hunted down like an animal. I had hoped you were still alive." He looked towards the diamond "A rare speciman, that could kill me outright." The demon gave Faistian a look of remourse "Kill me, and you will learn the history of the world 2,000 years in the making. You will experiance war, triumph, victory, defeat. Your mind for years and years will be a wreck. You will not need food or water. Just the years to endure. In this gift--which is also a curse you may find out how to wield the ancient magics. You will be strong enough to challenge whole kingdoms, empires! Now I go willingly into the gem." The gem glowed black, and then red and the demon entered the gem. Faistian simply crushed it.
"It was a mistake!" Faistian raged. Holding his head in between his knees history and locations and dragsons big and small entered his mind. In this a staff appeared The demon lord's Jalusk had his staff and gave it to Faistian. My child this will relieve the pain for a while. For now I shall send you into a self-induced coma where you can train your magicka to adapt to the world outside the island. Upon your awakening out of the coma you will be in the Kingdom of Aquria on the main-land. Their capital city infact. That is where you shall first begin your mark on history. Sleep now, my son. Sleep.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. If you're looking for character bios, they're scattered around the earlier pages of the thread. Info on the nations and maps are located on the first page. Well in any case, I'll put together a small table of contents in my next post and I'll put some more info together on the demons and such.

EDIT #2: I just took another look at your application Carloginias. While your character is still approved, I do have two requests. As I stated earlier, please refrain from making your character all powerful. If you wouldn't mind, please telegram me some of his weaknesses. Second while demons were an option I was considering, I need to ask that you not to diverge to far from the thread's current path

Sorry for taking so long to update, I've had the wonderful experience of taking some summer courses at my city college.
In any case, just a heads up. I'm planning to have a time skip soon so everyone should get in several more posts before I do so.
Note: If any of this is makes little to no sense, please feel free to say so. I rather disoriented at the moment so I might be saying things as clearly as I would like.
How do we get in many posts before you post if you have to respond to our posts before we continue posting?
*equally confusing*

O.o I think my brain just exploded. ;) I'd say about another two posts per person before time skip, though this excludes me.
Aight...
I'm easy though - I don't care when you do it.
Just thought I'd mention that I don't think the post was ever edited-finished.

Lol, sorry for taking so long. I've been busy with an ever so "wonderful" calculus class. I'll try to get my post finished as quickly and accurately as possible. ;)
No problem. I don't mind waiting seeing as I am not posting that much now anyway.
Perhaps it's time for the time warp - I got nothing.

17-07-2007, 08:22
You might be right. :) I'm almost done with my other posts so just a little more time is all I need.

17-07-2007, 22:17
Alrighty then, I got the posts I wanted up. So make your final posts if you wish to and I'll reply if necessary before I apply the time skip.
Alright, I got my reply up... though I am not even sure if it needs a response - could just go to the time skip and see the results of what they would've talked about. Up to you.

Sorry about the delay everyone, I'm study for my Calculus finals at the moment. I'll be taking the lovely test on Thursday after which I should have time to post. Sorry about making you all wait.

I was hoping to have had a post up already, but it seems that I must delay the posting for a few days. I'm going to be gone for roughly three days because of a college orientation. I swear I'll have the post ready when I return. Until then, cya ;)
College Orientation??? It's not even August...

Yeah, orientation. Anywho, I've returned and am working on the next post.

Odd.
Anywho, let's hope everyone is still paying attention.

Yes, I do hope they haven't forgotten. I apologize for taking such an ungodly amount of time. Here's information on the time skip. Just so you know, I'll be gone on a family trip until Tuesday. Sorry for skipping out again, but please feel free to interact among yourselves in the rp, I encourage it actually. :) I'll do my best to post if I can find an internet connection.
EDIT: It seems that I can't get in touch with Sith. If any of you can, please inform him of my post. Thanks!

----Time Skip: Approximately Four Years Since the Events Began-----
It has been a long four years since the outbreak of hostilities between Airyglyph and its neighbors began. About several months after the initial attack, Airyglyph had consolidated its holds, giving time for the other nations to scramble their defenses.
Yet at the beginning of the next year, Airyglyph unleashed a flurry of lightning quick attacks, utterly overrunning the Samnite Republic as well as taking over large portions of the Palmira Republic and cutting deep into its territory. Strangely though, the Airglyphian forces have kept their distance from Kaddan-Palmira borders.
With the very real threat of the complete annihilation of their norther neighbors, the Sacred Kingdom of Aquaria entered the war in the third year. Pouring its massed army of runological might into the conflict, they managed to force a stalemate. In a desperate attempt to maintain the stalemate, Aquaria, Palmira, Durna, Suferio, and the surviving forces of Barr and the Samnite Republic poured everything they had into the conflict.
In the fourth year of the war, the balance began to shift. Airyglyph began deploying new units to the front as well as revealing a new weapon: airships. Though the ships they unleashed were only comparable to modern day fighters, they wreaked havoc on the allied forces. It was in this time that the Allied Nations, as they called themselves, sent diplomats to Greeton, seeking aid.
During the entire span of these years, Greeton had been hurrying along their renovations. In the fourth year, they had finally finished. Upon receiving diplomats from the Allied Nations, Greeton entered into possible alliance talks with them. While Greeton still had plans on one day conquering all of Gaitt, they realized that Airyglyph posed a very serious threat.
In this same time, Kaddan had remained eerily quiet. There were no visible movements along its borders and with the exception of the three agents it deployed earlier, there had been nothing coming in and out of Kaddan. Interestingly though, there have been rumors that Kaddan was discussing possible military aid with Palmira...
----------
Notes for Participants-These will be posted in the OCC thread as well.
----------
(For Members of Airyglyph)
During the four years, Airyglyph has enjoyed success in most of its efforts. Though its forces were currently held in a deadly stalemate, it had almost completed work on its newest and deadliest weapon.
Its military units have been boosted to wartime strength. Applied to the Dragon Brigade, this translates to roughly a total of 30 dragons and riders per dragon flight. During this increase in numbers, Mina Aiko was promoted to the rank of Senior Captain, one of the youngest ever, granting command of two dragon flights at wartime strength. Also, a new recruit, one Arthur Revenant, was assigned to her unit. Rising through the ranks at a surprising rate, he currently holds the ranks of junior captain, one rank beneath the standard captain rank of a dragon flight, serving as one of two junior captains under her. Mina's soldiers are currently stationed several miles away from the current Palmira-Airyglyph front.
-Note to DMG: These are basic outlines at the moment so feel free to adjust anything you need to.
------------
(For Members of Palimira)
During the four years, Palmira has suffered major losses, but has managed to hold the invaders in a stalemate. With the influx of aid from its neighbors, it has been able to even launch raids into the Airyglyph territory. Recently, it has been able to take down several fighter airships with the aid of runological weapons donated by Aquaria as well as retake several key points.
In this time, the two Kaddan agents who joined Beleg's company have proved incredibly useful. With the aid of the Weaver and swordswoman, Beleg now has a large number of Palmira's best healers and swordsmen. In addition, Beleg has been asked to join the Windspeakers. Duras, meanwhile, has been rejoined the group and currently serves as Beleg's second in command.
-note to Mythrandir: If you choose to have Beleg accept the offer to join the Windspeakers, you can now have Beleg using various wind based abilities and spells. Also, you can locate yourself anywhere in friendly territory.
---------------
(For Members of Durna)
As stated above, Durna has deployed all available forces to help hold back the Airyglyphian forces. In addition, it has stepped up recruitment and training.
During the four years, Sirius has trained Sinan rigorously. Sinan has now considered a full fledged Keeper of the Plains, capable of unleashing devastating attacks with both earth and water, and serves as Sirius's second-in-command after the death of his former during a major skirmish. Currently, they are stationed near the Palmira-Airyglyph front around Expedis.
-Note to Sith: You can change and add as needed.
---------------
(For Members of Greeton)
Aware of the growing threat in the east, Greeton has been preparing its defenses. Within the four years, it has completely renovated its land and naval forces as well as upgrading its air forces. It has now reached the technological level of World War I nations. To counter an possible naval incursions, Greeton has deployed nearly ten fleets to its eastern and nothern waters. Currently, it has engaged the Allied Nations in possible aid talks.
In order to ready itself for the coming conflict, Greeton has been working nonstop to train officers and soldiers. To that end, it had promoted a large number of outstanding officers and had begun training programs to familiarize them with the new technologies.
At this moment, Edweard Lesonia serves as rear admiral in the 6th Fleet also known as the Hammer of Greeton Fleet under Admiral Orstell. Ed is command of a battle squadron of new battlecruisers.
-note to Weccanfeld: Feel free to adjust as you see fit.
Yeah, Sith Clan has been deleted.
When you say the airships are comparable to modern day fights, do you our mean modern as in the F-22?

Didn't know what I could/should do...

Doesn't matter really. I'll start writing my next post now.
Aye, aye. You checked and made sure people were still checking the thread, right?
Aztiluth
11-08-2007, 08:13
Yeah, I checked. Seems that Wec hasn't posted yet so I'll hold off for the moment. I'll post in the morning.
Down to just three of us and you, eh...
(OOC: Just to let everyone know, I'm still interested, it's just that I'm waiting for something to happen so I can post.)
Ah, well, I think the point of the prior post was we could make things happen, but seeing as Az was just waiting for you to post, something soon will probably happen.

Well, I don't what I can post about. A normal day in the western seas isn't the most exciting thing to post about, it has to be said.
I know, I didn't really say anything in my post either. Az will start something I'sume.

Are my ships pre or post dreadnought?
Aye, what is the highest tech level currently...
Aztiluth

Greeton currently has the highest tech level. I'd say they'd be post dreadnought tech.
Woh... lol. I am still trying to get used to near-modern technology combined with fantasy elements.

Hehe, it's a difficult mix at best, but Greeton is going to need everything it's got to survive Airyglyph's super weapon.

Things just seem a bit easy for me if all I have to do is turn a turret and fire at wooden ships over a mile away.
Vanek Drury Brieres
20-08-2007, 13:52
Name: Thomas Vanek
Age: 22
Race: Vampire
Birthplace: Mysterious place in Greeton
Archetype: Marine of the Greetons, defected
Physical Description: 6 feet, slim, dealthy white,
Equipment: assault rifle, sword, 5 jars of blood all in a backpack over his shoulder
Skills: Quite good shooter, has superpowers (as you may say)
Relations: Neutral, to whoever he likes
Bio: Vanek was born to an anonymous mother and father in Greeton. However, they were both vampires, so Vanek's a vampire as well. He can control his hunger by carrying around blood (above) and taking sips of it while talking to humanoids. He escaped to Gaitt after he was enrolled in the Marines of the Greeton Army. He then defected and stole a ship to escape to Gaitt. Not much is known about him.
OOC: If you guys let me have him be a vampire I just want to say that A. He can drink those humanoids blood and B. Otherwise I'm basing him on the vampires in the Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse series by Stephanie Meyer.
Things just seem a bit easy for me if all I have to do is turn a turret and fire at wooden ships over a mile away.
There were ironclads in the mid 19th century, so I don't know if the rest of the world is using woodenships. Also, post-dreadnought doesn't mean they are terribly accurate. Plus, remember what he said about Airy's super weapon...
Weccanfeld
20-08-2007, 19:55
I agree about accuracy, but the range does mean I'll get a fair number of shots before they can fire back. And I don't remember Az mentioning anything about ironclads for Airy, all he's talked about is wooden ships.
I don't know what the ships are... I am just saying that in the heirarchy it doesn't go wood ship era, post-dreadnought era.
Anywho, it's up to him.
Aztiluth
20-08-2007, 21:11
Ah, seems that I've forgotten to put something in my time skip update. I apologize for the confusion.
Airyglyph does now indeed have iron plated ships. While their armor is obviously inferior to Greetic technology, they do possess the firepower needed to take down Greetic vessels. Also don't forget, they've got airships, and I don't mean slow moving zepplins either.
Aztiluth
20-08-2007, 21:23
Hehe, why yes. Though the airships that Weccan would be facing at the moment are much smaller and more fighter-like.
Awseome!
I assume you mean more of the FF9 ones (like ships but in the air) rather than FF12 ones.
Aztiluth
20-08-2007, 22:07
Yes, most of the large airships will be like those of ff9. The smaller fighters are similar to those from 12. The super weapon..well...you'll see. :p
Aztiluth
20-08-2007, 22:26
No! -shifty eyes- W-what ever would make you consider that? -hides folder labeled secret plans-
I actually haven't decided just how big or strong said super weapon will be at the moment, but it is sufficient to say that it'll be quite the nutcracker.
Oh just so you know DMG, Airyglyph isn't going to war just cause it wants to or anything too superficial. I probably didn't mention it earlier, but a very large percentage of Airyglyph is mountainous and unsuitable for farming. While they are rich with minerals, Airyglyph's population is outstripping its food resources. So basically, Airyglyph is fighting to obtain land to support its people...though I would assume that conquering Barr wasn't very helpful as it too is almost completely made of mountains.
In any case, the time to choose arrives. Essentially each side needs to make a choice: Airyglyph can send intercept the diplomats heading for Greeton and prevent the alliance at least temporarily or it can have Mina and her soldiers go to Kaddan and forge an alliance with them. The Allies can either go and ensure its alliance with Greeton or it can leave the diplomats to their fate and head for Kaddan and attempt to form an alliance with them.
Basically, it's time to choose: Kaddan or Greeton
I'll assume that the guy tells her ICly that they request a meeting with someone from Kaddan.
I suppose they could also try both, sending Mina with the dude and the rest of the flight at the diplomats... But I suppose you wouldn't want that to work, would you?
Also, I am debating something about Mina's future, and I am not sure whether to tell your now or not. ;)
Aztiluth
20-08-2007, 23:48
Hehe, well you could try that. I'd be interested in seeing the resulting conflict.
Secrets huh? Hmm.....

I assume that includes the dragon riders situation.

25-08-2007, 16:02
So what are the sides exactly?
Aztiluth
25-08-2007, 16:34
At this moment, it's Airyglyph versus everyone else with Kaddan being neutral.
Vanek Drury Brieres
25-08-2007, 16:45
Ah. I'll rp my char's beginning.
At this moment, it's Airyglyph versus everyone else with Kaddan being neutral.
Then Greeton has already agreed to join the others?
Aztiluth
26-08-2007, 04:17
Technically speaking, they haven't joined together as in an alliance, but Greeton has already decided that Airyglyph is a serious threat and is willing to act alone.

Ah, that's what I thought.
Just wanted to make sure Mina's mission to stop the diplomats wasn't for nothing :p
I got notice to really post.
Really? I only sent a telegram to Wecc and Vanek. If you got one from me, I apologize. :)
Wow, no. I must be retarded. I meant to say "I got nothing to really post," but apparently I wasn't paying attention.
