This is a thread to discuss the second outbreak of the Vodais Plague an alien disease that rewrotes the victims DNA. It made them live longer, stronger, faster, and more sensitive. It also made people animalistic, violent, and hypersensitive living in the moment with an incredible drive to reproduce and spread the plague.
The first plague was contained after tens of millions of people died or were killed in the fighting to contain the virus. A vaccine was developed, but some of the carriers escaped. The vaccine had some strange side effects in some people changing them permanently with purple eyes and silver hair. Also some people were already partially changed when the vaccine was administered.
After successfully containing the majority of the plague, hunter killer teams were sent out to catch and destroy the remaining pockets of infestation. Special gene modified dogs were created to help hunt down the "infested."
Some of the infested managed to escape to live in very isolated places far from civilization. Those with exceptionally strong wills could control the plague enough to avoid contacting other humans. The first carrier Lilith escapted to an unknown location. There she built a cult around herself promising redemption for humanity.
However, something horrible also happened. Various governments in secret captured some of the victims and began experimenting with the disease creating new strains in the hope of creating a biological weapon which could defeat their enemies. In secret laboratories experimented on both humans, other primates, and created strains which could infect dogs and other large mammals.
A second outbreak is about to happen. Maybe some of the experiments escape, maybe Lilith sends some of the infected into several areas, maybe some hunters run into a pocket of the infected in the woods.
Input would be interesting. I am basing this partially on the book Clay's Ark by Octavia Butler, also the standard vampire infection stories and plague zombies could be used. By now there are several different strains of the disease.
