Description: The Duke-class nuclear powered battleship is a heavily armoured surface combatant designed to engage threats with a combination of missile and supercapital-grade gunfire whilst remaining within a more acceptable displacement and price bracket than true ‘super dreadnoughts’ of approaching 1,000m length. The vessel’s 29.5” guns are capable of matching those of almost any foreign battleship and give the vessel a considerable advantage over most any foreign adversary within its weight and price bracket.

In addition to her heavy firepower, Duke is a tough monohull with thick armour, a triple bottom and extensive torpedo protection and damage control systems.

A highly effective vessel in the anti-surface and shore bombardment categories, possessing extensive command and control facilities and the ability to adequately defend itself from both aerial and sub-surface attack, Duke makes an excellent flagship for a small fleet, and a superb complement to any larger fleet in the capital ship role. An excellent multi-purpose vessel without sacrificing capability in any particular area, Duke has a home in any powerful or aspiring navy.

Explosive non-crew areas (eg. magazines) flooded with halon; halon fire suppressant systems and damage control systems fitted throughout vessel. Collapsable lifeboats available for the entire complement. Extensive compartmentalisation with bulkheads. Heavy duty pumps fitted throughout vessel.

In Northford, we have a saying: "Where Business is concerned, Business is Business is Business.". Nowhere has this been more true in our dealings with Praetonia, who, through the sharing of our political and ideological beliefs concerning economics and free trade, we have had a warm and cordial relations with.

In Business, we believe that the over-riding force in any trade or purchase is necessity. At a governmental level, other factors, such as price, are largely irrrelevent we hold, since one can not be frugal about one's future in the world, and, due to our disiplined fiscal nature, our government funds are most often in Surplus, as shown by our four most recent budgets, where 25% of revenue was left unspent and subsequently put towards debt repayement, above our usual debt repayments to Questers and Craven.

With these facts in mind, it is not hard to consider why we are eager to make this a purchase for Duke Class Battleships. As is known, Northfordian Defence policy has for quite some time, carefully balanced the need to fufil our obligations to the rest of the Questarian Commonwealth and Empire while ensuring the ability of ourselves to protect and project our own interests and needs.

For us, the Duke Class seems rather suitable.It's excellent Fire Support ability, coupled with the fact it is at home in any number of fleet configurations lend us to eagerly request the acceptance of an order for 25 ships.

The cost of this order comes to 1,545,637,137,500 Universal Standar Dollars and will be wired upon confirmation of order.
