Shalcoria, SNN- The United States of Shalrirorchia has dispatched three carrier strike groups to Hataria in light of the recent outbreak of hostilities between that nation and several others (reference http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=521334).

Shalrirorchian President Shanu Aeri spoke for the first time on the developing crisis on the steps of the capitol building after a meeting with Congressional Democrats.

"What we have seen over the past few years is a propensity on the Empire's part to attack its' neighbors aggressively and to try and incorporate them into itself." Aeri noted. "Shalrirorchian interests in that region total approximately seven-hundred billion shalars as of the last accounting cycle, so it only stands to reason that the U.S.S. should apply influence and try to contain Hatarian aggression as much as possible. Morally and politically we also have responsibilities to the region to oppose totalitarianism."

When asked whether the dispatch of the six aircraft carriers represented an intention to attack Hataria, Aeri used strong language.

"The carrier groups are a thinly-veiled warning to Hataria." replied Aeri. "Hataria must know that it is dealing with a fellow world power, not some tiny, newly-independent republic. Shalrirorchia means business, and Shalrirorchia has the power to back up its' policy with action, if Hataria chooses to make action necessary."

Theatre IC- Three Shalrirorchian strike groups consisting of six carriers have been dispatched with all necessary support vessels to Hataria. These will stay approximately 15 miles out from Hatarian national waters and will assume a regular patrol along the Hatarian coast. They have been given permission to interdict Hatarian shipping and force it to return to Hatarian ports, but they are forbidden from boarding a Hatarian ship.

This is an organization dedicated to the monitoring of space-based weaponry by nations, such as Hataria, who would abuse and overuse them in battle. President Aeri is enroute. She has a basic bodyguard of U.S.S. Service agents (who have small arms for defense), but otherwise that is the extent of her security force. Her retinue includes her staff and national security advisor.

As President Aeri's plane neared the Asgarnian border, 4 F-19 Turmoil fighters intercepted and escorted the aircraft to Balkan City International Airport.

Over the radio, the lead pilot spoke to the pilot of Aeri's aircraft.

"Greetings, and welcome to Asgarnieu. Please excuse the military escort. We are at war with four nations in our region. We assure you, you are safe."
