Civil War in New United Nations
New United Nations
24-03-2007, 18:53
A small group in eastern New United Nations named The Dictators Army is starting to gain supporters throughout the nation and overthrow the government. They want to change the nation to a dictatorship that belives in supporting big bussiness' and giving a lot of money to the military. The current government belives in democracy and giving more rights to the people. Both parties are looking to other nations to support them as a civil war is about to start.
OOC:I was thinking I would just be the current president of New United Nations and I would try to stop the rebellion. Someone else could be the leader in The Dictators Army. Everyone else could either be a general in one of the two armies or something like that or be your own nation supporting one of them.

News Report: I am standing in Applegate Square right outside our nations capital building. We have just recieved information that The Dictators Army has taken over several smaller cities on our eastern border. President Zyambarg says that they aren't much of a threat and they will be defeated soon.*Sound of explosion*Oh my god!*Gunfire*Somethings happening. I think we The Dictator's Army is invading the capital. We've got to get ou-*Screen turns to static*.

New United Nations
24-03-2007, 19:51
OK Maldorians you can be the Dictator's Army.
Maldorians
24-03-2007, 19:56
Before I start posting, do you have any information about the Army like the number of soldiers, types of vehicles?
New United Nations
24-03-2007, 20:06
I was thinking they could have about 30,000 people in the army. They would have some older tanks and planes but not a lot of them right now. They are always gaining new supporters and stealing newer vehicles from us and taking over factories to build newer weapons and vehicles. So they would start out sort of small but eventually could become big.
Maldorians
24-03-2007, 20:17
Initially, they will have Steyr AUG, Sturmgewehr 44's, and FAMAS for their Assault Rifles.
For their tanks, they will have T-34's and Centurion Tanks.
As artillery goes, they will have 1 artillery; the 7.5 cm PaK 40.
How do you think this sounds. These weapons were in WWII and Cold War...*Outdated*
Do you have a map of your nation?
New United Nations
24-03-2007, 20:51
I think that sounds good and I am working on a map of my nation.
Maldorians
24-03-2007, 20:52
Once you get the map up, then I can "strategically" attack positions...
Speaking OOC: I wouldn't mind getting involved on the side of the current government. Is New United Nations landlocked, or do you have a coast somewhere?
New United Nations
24-03-2007, 22:02
OOC: The western part of our nation is a coast.

I'd be willing to provide a relatively small force from our Defensive Operations for the Current Government.
Just for reference, what are the current government using for Armed Forces, inc. approx numbers. From there, I'll see what we can spare.
New United Nations
24-03-2007, 22:27
We have an army of about 125,000 people and a national guard of around 25,000. We don't have that big of an army because we are usually a peaceful nation we don't get involved in big wars.
Pan-Arab Barronia
24-03-2007, 22:47
Okay, in which case, we'll send a force of 5,000 men over. This will include 250 Special Forces, and approximately 500-600 Engineers, specialised in Defence Operations. We shall include our own transport, transported by our Judge class Assault Carriers.
We shall, at your discretion, provide our Flagship Fleet Carrier, the BMS Venture, to allow us to cater to air support over the main coastal port.
We shall also require:
A list of possible landing zones/ports
A brief description of your nations terrain (e.g. desert, rocky, etc.)
A list of cities that you particularly wish to be held.
OOC: Damn, Pan-Arab Barronia, 5000 men and a carrier is relatively small? I hate to nitpick, but that does seem pretty high. Still, it makes sense if they're a small proportion of a very large total army. Is that the case?
If you don't mind, New United Nations, I may switch over my allegiance to the rebels. If you had Pan-Arab Barronia plus myself, the Dictator would need a very strong third party to make this interesting.

We're a highly militarized nation - ~6 billion (last check) population, with a standard 4% population in the Armed Forces, including those doing National Service. It's needed in our region (we're prone to fighting, ha ha)
That's liable to change, we've got an occasion needing large numbers of men, so the number may reduce by as much as half (and unfortunately, probably will).
And it wouldn't be just a carrier. It's our flagship, so it'd have it's battlegroup accompanying.

I have consulted with my advisors and we have come up with the information you need. A breif overview of our terrain is we have mostly grasslands, to the southeast we have a small desert with a lot of oil ,to the northeast we have a small mountain range and we also have small forests scattered throughout our nation.
We have come up with a list of three possible landing zones they are:
1. Segville
2. Port Highland
3. Rynbore
We have come up with five cities that are strategically important:
1. Applegate-our capital
2. Dresdale-major producer of our military weapons and vehicles
3. Gantua-major producer of oil
4. Farlorn-army headquarters located here
5. Hesbin-biggest city in our country

I like the idea of having two distinct entities. Gives us a chance for a better story if you RP them seperately, I think. Feel free to be a disobedient ally and a nuisance to me, makes it more interesting.
For support: I can't really offer tanks and vehicles-I've got a navy based intervention in mind. The coast is in the west, and you start in the east. Still, I can airlift in some newer weapons, and (possibly) a small infantry group.

General Reive, Ex-SWAT agent of New United Nations, stepped out of the shadows into the Ops Center. As he walked towards a technical officer, the soldier made an abrupt salute.
"General Reive, commander, sir!"
"How goes the revolution?"
"Excellent sir! We are gaining new volunteers as we speak."
"Good, you are dismissed."
Reive then proceeded to the Weapons Officer. Reive found that on a recent shipment, they received new PaK artilleries.
Reive stepped into his chamber and rubbed his temples. He then took out a map of New United Nations and sprawled it out on the ivory desk. He made a red mark on his first target...Hesbin...

First Lieutenanant Dwanye Wright and his fellow BDU-clad troopers stealthily took up positions outside of Hesbin. Dwanye checked the ammo on his old, rusty AK-47 and rubbed the butt of it.
"Cadet! You got the C4? If you got it, then bring it here," whispered the soft voice of Dwanye Wright.
"Right away sir. I have the whole supply of it. What will you need it for anyways?" asked the young Officer Cadet.
"O that is none of your business, noob." was the response.
Dwanye, along with the rest of his small group, hid their weapons until they would need them and trudged towards, Hesbin, the target of their objective...

15 miles off the coast at Port Highland, the battlegroup was abuzz with activity.
"Commander, the hovercraft are prepped."
"Excellent. Get in touch with the Admiral, is he ready with the escorts? Mahria is known to be almost as sea-going as we are, so we must keep defenses readied."
"I'll get on it right away Commander."
"Good. Dismissed!"
15 minutes later, aircraft were streaming off the Venture. As the hovercrafts below headed toward shore, helicopters were checking for submarines. The Admiral was making sure nothing happened to these troops.
When the soldiers reached the shore, they could see men from New United Nation's Army waiting for them. These men were not battlehardened, they could see that. These men were scared, fearful of what might happen to their nation. That would have to change.
Brigadier-General Ashan stepped aboard land, slightly sea-sick but ready to get to work..."well, gentlemen, who do I speak to about getting something done here?"

The nine-man sapper squad left the safety of the woods and traveled deep into the heart of Hesbin. Donning ordinary work clothes, this group blended in with the rest of the local commuters.

Dwanye Wright looked up from the pavement, and found, to his suprisement, the New United Nations stock exchange. Charlie, a small tired fellow, also saw the building...
"Dwanye! It's was we are looking for. I can't wait to-" he was cut short by a fist in his stomach. Charlie fell on the sidewalk gasping for breath.
"Listen, Charlie. We are supposed to keep a low-profile. Don't let anyone know what we are doing!"
Pan-Arab Barronia and the Mahrian government had long found themselves in a difficult situation. Both were large, militarized, and exercised hegemony over a large sphere of influence. The two had been brushing up against each other for some time. It was as if there were two very large men in one very small room-eventually, someone will tire of being cramped and accommodating.
P.A.B. had deployed with surprising speed. Alarmed, the Mahrian cabinet had approved deployment for a full naval war-a proxy war was preferable to fighting around either of the two homelands. Gutting the Barronian fleet would secure Mahrias hegemony well enough. That was the real target of the intervention-particularly the Venture.
The initial deployment was impressive. Few in Mahria believed the justification of "supporting self-determination in the New United Nations." Three fully stocked carriers wasn't a force to free a small country-it was a force to level one. Peace activists were less active than normal, though-the country as a whole was tired of Barronia.
The carriers, Two-Crossing-Rivers, Hammer, and Tellec, were well escorted. Each had a pair of submarines prowling underneath, abundant small craft (landing ships as well as patrollers), and three Lookout-class destroyers. Eight mid-sized supply ships were thoroughly protected in the centre of the formation-Mahria was ready for a long naval war, as well as a support role in the land battle.

"Sir! Sir! The Mahrians have deployed what appears to be at least a battlegroup. We count what could be three carriers, plus supporting escorts!"
"What!?! Why wasn't I informed earlier! Get me on the secure link to General Strom!"
5 minutes later...
"Yes, sir, we need the Indian Sea Battlegroup. And the Adriatic Battlegroup. Yes sir, this is serious. We're outnumbered, outgunned...we need those reinforcements. Sir, I appreciate that, but this is needed now! Yes, sir. Thankyou sir."
The Adriatic and Indian Sea battlegroups would soon be arrive in 2 days to support the Venture and her escorts. Each containing 2 Armada Class Carriers, 3 Warlord Class Battleships, 10 Clipper Class Patrol Craft, 10 Vizier Class Support Ships, 5 Minister Class AA Frigates, Knight Class SSN Submarines, plus many others, these were forces to be reckoned with.
The Mahrians had never been met in conflict, and considering that the Venture was involved, it was preferable for that not to happen.
As the Mahrian Fleet closed, all Aircraft were withdrawn, fuelled, and armed for what would surely be a phenomenal naval battle.
OOC: If you need info on my ships, I have created a PDF document, that's hidden somewhere...ah, here it is: Download PABNS.pdf (http://putstuff.putfile.com/61909/26218)
OOC: perfect. Much appreciated.
The Barronian scout ship had barely been seen. If the pilot had been a little more careful relaying his sighting back home, the Mahrian fleet might have missed it entirely.
As it was, a sharp communications officer had picked up the transmission, recognized it as non-Mahrian, and alerted his superiors. After frantic decryption work, the Mahrian admiral was unsurprised.
"Well," he grumbled to his assembled officers, "I suppose we can't expect the element of surprise. We know more or less where the Venture is, and I'd imagine they're scrambling to get ready. We should close fully with them by around 16:00 tomorrow. You all know what to have done by then. I'd also estimate that we can harass them a bit with longer range planes by about 02:00 tomorow. Send a few off the Tellec and get me details on who they have supporting Venture. Dismissed."

"Your offer will most certainly be taken up. This battlegroup will provide the air support your nation needs, so the carrier cannot be lost! We thank you most heartily for what you can provide, and await it's arrival urgently."
------
The Clipper class patrol craft had picked up the surveillance aircraft, and relayed co-ordinates to the Venture. This merely confirmed the direction from which the Mahrians would be attacking, and the three Warlords class battleships (the Divensis, the Parthenon, and the Evorense) moved into position (OOC: read up on the class in my book) to protect the Venture and her valuable supply ships.
Down below, sailors were inputting details into the computer-controlled targeting systems for the battleships' guns - expected range, primary targets, firing codes, type of armament - this was a relatively new system and had only been tested in a firing range. At a 26-mile range, it could pick out ship sillouettes, make an estimation, prioritise, and fire at a target - much like the targeting system on the Apache Longbow. But on a ship-sized scale.
On board the Judge class ship, the Via, the helicopters were being prepped. These anti-submarine helicopters were older than average, Barronia's strength being seaborne, rather than air. This, however, meant that Mahria was going to have one heck of a fight on its hands.

Greetings from the esteemed Emporer Ozwald of The Sith Clan. We pledge our alliegience to the Dictator and are ready to attack from the North a a large millitary force numbering 6, 785 to be exact. We have more troops waiting should they be needed.
We would like to inform The Dictator that all the troops we are sending to aid his cause are battle hardened in The Sith Clan Civil war of two years ago, in which a small group of democratically minded fools, The Sith Liberation Front, tried to take over. We stomped them flat.
We request knowledge of the location of the Headquarters of this Revolution, and on what we can expect in return for our aiding you. We don't expect much but a morsal of land and an Alliance after all this is through would suffice. Though it's compleatly up to you. We intend to help to crush democracy no matter what!

We will be waiting for your troops. We are glad you decided to send more troops. We are also glad you have such a determination to win because our people are starting to get scared that we will lose.
"It was essentially just a little local difficulty," Admiral of the Fleet Frank Sutcliff, the current Chief of the Defence Staff was saying "until Pan-Arab Barronia and a number of other nations jumped in. It could turn into something much bigger now."
The gathered War Cabinet listened intently, and then the Prime Minister, John Simms, spoke.
"So what do you recommend we do, if anything, Admiral?" He asked.
"Well, Prime Minister, getting directly involved at this stage would be foolish," The Admiral responded "but indirect involvement would be advisable. It would be a great shame to see a fledgling democracy fall to tyranny so soon, and both myself and the other military chiefs believe this would be a perfect opportunity to test out some of our capabilities. For the time being we should limit ourselves to providing intelligence and supplies - weapons, ammunition, medicine, fuel and so forth - to the New United Nations government. This support could eventually be stepped up to military advisers and special forces units if the War Cabinet so wishes."
The Prime Minister glanced around his colleagues gathered around the table in the Cabinet Room. "Are we agreed on that? Indirect involvement for the moment?"
The members of the War Cabinet signalled their agreement.
"I must suggest, however, that we prepare for the worst. A full military task force should be placed on 48 hour standby if it gets out of control." The Secretary of State for Defence, James Wilson, suggested. Another murmur of agreement rippled through the room.
The Admiral moved over to a map of the New United Nations and the surrounding area. He moved his finger over the coast of the NUN.
"Pan-Arab Barronia and Mahria are facing off in the area off this coast of the New United Nations." he said, running his finger up and down a small strip of the coastline on the map. "We will be carefully monitoring their actions via satellite, but this battle means it will be difficult to supply the New United Nations via sea. Our plan is to use civilian transport planes setting off from commercial airports in Farrfin for medical and humanitarian aid which will undoubtedly be needed if the battle hots up. Military supplies such as ammunition and weapons will be sent via the New United Nation's land borders using third parties so it'll be harder to directly implicate us, and intel reports will be sent via secure communications channels. I will be preparing a number of special forces teams from Alpha Division to depart for the region within twenty four hours should they be required."
---Public Broadcast---
In the unfolding situation in and around the New United Nations, the government of the Republic of Farrfin urges all sides to reflect on their actions and seek a peaceful settlement to the current dispute. Farrfin has expressed its willingness to host a peace conference provided all sides agree to attend. Until such a time has passed, the Republic of Farrfin will be sending civilian planes carrying medical and other humanitarian supplies which will be provided to the citizens of the New United Nations. Once again, we urge restraint on both sides, especially regarding civilian casualties.

The Republic of Farrfin is most distressed to see the attempt to usurp your fledgling democracy and wishes to aid you in your plight. As such, we have decided to provide you with weaponry, ammunition, medical and other supplies as well as intelligence reports which may aid you in your battle against the rebels. In addition, Farrfin will provide humanitarian aid to civilians in order to minimise the number of injuries and deaths.

Then get out. They have as much right to roleplay as you do, and having a little tantrum is really sad. And on that note, we'll be sending a little something to the NUN ourselves - one of the Special Units, this time Beta. We believe they number two hundred and forty at the moment, their task is to protect the leader of the New United Nations from coming to harm. If this is acceptable to you, NUN, please let us know through telegram.

The Mahrian group consisted of two twelve-plane Wings, each made up of the pride of Mahrian carrier-based air-Javelin class. The two-man affairs were long range, but managed to avoid lumbering along too slowly. Wing A were the bombers, Wing B was deliberately stripped and given no bombs to be quicker against other planes.
Having been dispatched at 02:00, they reached the Ventures guardians at four in the morning. All was still pitch black. Lights had been dimmed, just as a precaution.
Wing Leader Tul Hsin started barking orders at his subordinates. "We aren't going to win single-handed, lads. In and out. Quick."
"That's what she said," radioed one anonymous flyer. The rest hooted or at least smiled. Most did so without hitting the radio, though-Hsin was a hardass.
"Discipline. Now." Hsin sent back, "Radar gives me one small ship, those lights on your left. Should be what they call a Clipper. Fish One and Fish Two, peel off. Take him."
Two gunners radioed, "Aye," one after the other. Two of the planes dived to drop their payloads into the water. The seeker torpedoes strapped under the planes came loose with paired splashes. As the planes started back up, tracer fire erupted from the patrol ship.
"Now they see us! Bomb One, Bomb Two, go after him if the fish miss. Rest, we'll have company before long." As lights started blinking on in the distance, Hsin (in a common event) frowned. "There's the battleships, lads. Outline there makes it... maybe Parthenon. We hit the Clipper. We draw off a few planes for Wing B. No more. I want to bring at least a few of you back, Christ only knows why."
Kilometres away, the Mahrian fleet reached the New UN coast. Arrogantly, they moved along the coast, slowly. As planned, a few desultory raids were launched from the carriers. They were only a side show, though-just enough to get a lone chopper in unremarked. The Mahrian delegation cramped together, headed to speak to General Reives.

Keith, the sub-ordinate of Dwanye, had to think of something quick...
"Yea, uhh...we are waiting for our friend in the bathroom..Why do you care?" quickly commented Keith...
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Dwanye had finished wiring the C4 and now he was just finishing up and washed his face with the marble-lined sink. He soon stashed the C4 control in his jacket pocket and casually walked out of the bathroom to see his group chatting with a person...

Joshua said,"Hey, it's you guys again. Why are you back?" He hoped they would think he didn't see anything.

The Mahrian chopper had penetrated a good ways into the nation, and had gone nearly unchallenged. The bombing raids around it had kept local defenders heads down until the pilot entered less militarized areas.
Satellite intelligence had given a general idea of the location of one of Reives camps. The pilot had cheerfully submitted to the suspicious questioning by the radio-holding rebel. (Clearly a bit rattled.) After a long, nervous question-and-answer session, the hovering chopper was permitted to land.
Sam Hall, Mahrias Acting Ambassador for the New United Nations stepped off the craft. (After all, Reives represented the legitimate government. Mahrian Government Policy said so.)
"Hello friends," Hall said, slowly and clearly. (His speech was accented, but comprehensible.) "I want to give you all a lot of money. And some nice, shiny guns. Could I please speak to your commanding officer?"
Sam Hall, despite his sarcasm, was the ideal man for his job. Mahria needed a man who could smile, sign a treaty (conveniently pre-written and in his briefcase), and hand over some goodies. Hall knew a thing or two about smiling at other officers and signing papers. He'd been a naval man for thirty years.
Military men understand each other, the reasoning went. We owe Hall a soft last gig, they thought. Besides, why appoint a full ambassador? If Reives proved troublesome, he was purely disposable.
As this went on, Mahrian flight crews (still blind to the fate of their previous Wings) prepared new ones for attacks. The Javelins were superb long range craft, but short-range planes would always be used when possible. If something wasn't to be used when the battle was joined...
The Javelins had one job: a few raids for the rest of the eight hours until closing with the Barronian fleet. One every hour or so was enough, any actual damage would be a pleasant bonus. No Barronian would sleep sound, if Admiral Tvek had his way. And they'd spend their waking hours flinching at shadows, while the Mahrians stalked calmly closer. "Let em squirm," Tvek said out loud as he bedded down, "Let em squirm." For his part, he expected an excellent night of sleep.

"Yes sir. The first group of our humanitarian supply planes are on final approach to Applegate Airport. "The special ops teams will be ready to go by this time tomorrow at the very latest. The task force is still being prepared, but should be ready the day after tomorrow if it needs to be dispatched. It will be led by two aircraft carriers, the Illustrious and the Talon." Sutcliff said.

Gunfire tears across the city streets outside the city barracks as Alpha team engages the rebels in Dresdale.
An enemy rebel stands up to launch a bazooka, but gets eviscerated from the inside out. SpecOps units move in from on top of the buildings. A rebel throws a grenade into the Vindicators position and gets machine gunned, but the grenade hits its mark. Bodies fly over the abandoned streets. The Raptor radioman signals the base camp.
"Raptors to base camp, Raptors to base camp."
"Base camp receiving, sir."
"Send your squadrons into the city now. Confirmed enemy contact, firefight in the city square, we're outnumbered."
A soldier looked up. "GASMASKS!" he yelled, as a K-50 came screaming down into the enemy position. A green smog mushroomed out from the planes wreckage. Rebels were choking and falling over limp. The Vindicators rushed through, guns blazing as the rebels from this position fell back, away from the Neurotoxin smog. Lieutenant Rislo grinned under the chunky mask.
"Score one checkpoint."

The Ferdelance drifted into the harbor of Port Highland, escorted by the Black Arrow and Panther destroyers and a few Kamikaze-class UAV's.
OOC: Just to let you know, you've managed to wander gracefully by a naval battle :D if you fancy helping out with those destroyers of yours...well, we're 5 miles offshore, taking damage from the Mahrian battlegroup.
Alarms were blaring as the battlegroup first spotted the incoming aircraft. Unfortunately, it was too late for the patrol boat. Taking two torpedoes from Mahrian aircraft, the hull was punctured, along with a fire below deck started by the torpedo. It was Barronia's first loss of the war.
"Sir, sir, we lost a patrol boat! It looks like they're heading for the Parthenon!"
"Damn them...we can't lose the battleships! Get the Aegis system online, and scramble the jets!"
On board a Minister Class AA Missile Cruiser, all hell broke loose. Alarms, loud and coarse, were going off in all crew quarters.
"Move, move, move! Leuitenant, get those missiles in the air! Warrant Officer, I want you on deck! Get on those guns and put those planes off!"
Tracer fire erupted from all of the ships in battlegroup almost simultaneously, along with glowing trails from missiles, locked on and headed for their targets. The Mahrians had better have one whole bucketload of countermeasures...
The planes sent to sink the Parthenon moved ever closer on the screens given to the Cruiser Gunners, and missiles wouldn't reach in time. It was up to the Parthenon to defend itself this time...
On the Venture, the men in fluorescent coats were running around. Eventually, one fighter, then two, then three, then more got off the deck. It was time for the Mahrians to know just who they were messing with.
"Red Squadron, this is Red Leader. We head for the Parthenon, vector 170. Arm your locking gear and prepare to ready AMRAAMs. Red 2 and 3, you're with me. Red 4 through 7, take left, 8-12, take right. Angels point-seven-five, we'll hit them from above. Control, is the Prowler readied?"
"Aye Red Leader."
Control comes through:
"That's a negative Red Leader. Something wrong with her engines. Await for further updates..."
"Blast. We'll do without. Use your eyes, Red Squadron. Let's take these bums down and show them the might of Barronia! Patriae Fidelitas!"
"Patriae Fidelitas!"
As Red Squadron headed toward the Parthenon, so were the Mahrian aircraft...

We're currently en route to your position, in the mean time the Ferdelance is launching torpedo bombers and sending the Panther and Black Arrow out to help you. Mark a target for our subs and we'll take it out.
OOC: In Voids defence, he only passed by a small-scale raid. I hadn't planned for my men to go after the Parthenon, but I'll accept it and try to be more clear. All this happens, then, directly before your reply (to explain the change of plans.) They're in, so write it up as you want.
Hsin had drawn back-as he'd ordered his men to do. Mission was accomplished-they'd got the Barronians on alert, scared them a little. Fish One and Fish Two had been lost to fire from the dying Clipper. The torpedoes had gotten away, but it was still a bad deal for four dead men.
Hsin had been shaken by the new orders reluctantly relayed by Wing Bs leader: "We've got another Wing coming, six of em with Fish. They get within Barronian sight in five minutes. We're to go after Parthenon, draw attention so they can get the Fish in. When the Fish are away, they tell us and we get out. Confirm."
Hsin was a professional-he'd obey the order. He didn't like it, though. "Roger that," he sent back, "Gods help us." He was confident in his engineers anti-missile jammers. He wasn't confident enough, though-not with that much tracer fire. He'd never say anything out loud about the change of plan-unless he survived to growl at his superior.
"Gods help us," echoed Wing B Leader, fervently. Wing B closed around the bombers. They paired up with their pre-selected partners, one stripped anti-air unit with one bomb-laden unit.
Hsin spoke. "New plan. Parthenon's our new target. Our lads with Fish are on the way, and we're drawing fire for them. Bomb One to Bomb Four, attack from high-left. Bomb Five to Bomb Eight, high-right. Bomb Nine to Bomb Twelve, with me. Keep making passes-or looking like you're going to-until I say different. Go."
Having ordered the angles of attack, saw his Wing split up. If they could kill the Parthenon, the main fleet could probably ruin the Barronians. Still, it was a big if.
"Those torpedoes had better get through, after all this," Hsin thought to himself. He went in.
"November team and Zulu team, this is charlie team. Captain LeGuin, did you find out if we can move out of Dresdale?" Charlie team's leader requested.
"Not yet Charlie team, your chopper is on stand by though. Hang in there for abit longer. Something's awry so heads up." Captain LeGuin answered and switched the radio's dial.
"S.A.F Command, what else is coming for support?" LeGuin asked.
"Captain LeGuin, what's the sit-rep?"
"Nothing much right now, but something's up. We're not dealing with some normal rebel, there isn't enough going on to be the typical rebel..." LeGuin responded then turned to his men, "November team get to your chopper. You're going rapid deployment."
November team left the old capital building and loaded into their Ch-47.

OOC: Apologies for that, I just assumed that it was the plan. Won't happen again :) . And NUN, are you working on that map? It'd really help. No rush though...:p Anyhoo...
The tracer fire could be seen from Port Highland by the Barronian soldiers. The Brigadier-General was worried.
"Okay lads, lets bunker down. That tracer fire is coming from us, and I get the feeling they're not doing it for our entertainment. I want all major streets blocked save for our own tanks. Colonel, take your engineers and mine everything."
"Everything, sir? But...that could take days!"
"Well then, you should get started. Dismissed!"
The Colonel runs off, directing men as he goes. Soon, the clanking of tracks can be heard as minelayers roll off down the streets of Port Highland. Should the Mahrians ever decide to land (Ashan had not seen the fleet, so he would not know that they had little or no intentions of landing - at least, that's how it appears), they wouldn't be able to move anything without checking for mines.
Things were not going so well at sea. The Mahrian raid had cost one ship, and looked like it was soon going to cost the Parthenon. The Mahrian missile jamming systems were stopping the what-would-be-certain kills, and the battlegroup was reliant on the machine guns and cannons that were carried as tertiary armaments. Although, it did make the sky look rather pretty...
"Sir, the Mahrian aircraft don't appear to be attacking the Parthenon."
"Hmm? That's...unexpected. Stay alert, it may just be a maneouvre. They may yet go for it..."
However, on an Aegis Cruiser, a different story was unfolding. Their longer-range systems were showing a group of 6 aircraft, moving directly for the battlegroup. They'd soon be in range, but no-one yet knew who they were, owing to the amount of people in this war, and the amount of action going on in the fleet. It was getting out of control...
"Red Leader, this is control. We have 6 possible incoming, vector 170, angels point 5. Move to investigate - we've got the situation under control here."
"Roger Wilco control. Red Squadron, assault formation, center on me. We've gotten a new assignment. We're heading vector 170, angels point 5. Do you understand?"

"Sir? Theres not contact from the PAB fleet."
"Dammit. Hold position, but get some Black Toms up there to help them"
"Rodger, Admiral."
20 fighters launched and headed towards the battle.
Wings A and B were getting hammered. It was, as such, a thrill to Hsin when he heard a voice over his radio.
"A Leader, B Leader, come in. This is F Leader. We've launched, and we've got incoming. Withdraw and assist, please. Over." F Leader communicated his position hurriedly.
"Roger that, F Leader! Gods be praised!" Hsin grinned into his own radio. "Wing A, pull out. Follow me closely, lads-our new friends need help. Over."
Hsin heard "Roger that," seven times. He had come in with twelve planes.
"B Leader, come in." Hsin radioed, not having heard an answer. A few seconds passed without reply, "B Second, come in." When that was met with more silence, he swore to himself. "Wing B, all planes, withdraw. Rendezvous with Wing A," he barked out coordinates.
"Son of a bitch," Hsin said to himself softly, "That's what happens when you change plans...." Just four Javelins had left a hell of tracer fire. "You're with Wing A, now, boys," Hsin allowed a little softness to creep into his voice as he sent. "Avenge them-come with me."
Hsin and his men came up behind the Barronian squad duelling with Wing F. Two Barronian pilots didn't realize they had company until their planes started smoking, and Hsin gave a predatory smile. The Mahrians (in this small battle) outnumbered the Barronians. They had no intention of losing the opportunity.
Some distance away, other Javelin raids had been recalled. The Mahrian fleet was ahead of schedule, not having met other resistance. The Barronians would see the main body of Mahrian air power within two hours. With any luck, they would fail to see six submarines.
Or the six torpedoes stalking towards Parthenon from Wing F.

The fighter wings turned and chased after the enemy planes.
Most cultures glorify martyrs. The Mahrian military was generous with posthumous awards.
Hsin wasn't convinced.
As such, when his radar showed him twenty incoming craft, he was not about to ask his charges to stand and fight. Seventeen Javelins could hold their own against the Barronians who'd come out. Twenty more was too much.
"F Leader," sent Hsin, voice forced into calm, "Twenty more incoming. We retreat?"
"Hear that, A Leader. Where to, then?" F Leader said bitterly, "We won't get back to the carriers."
"Well, I'll be damned if I give them our jammers to poke at and figure out," said Hsin. Those little devices had saved hundreds of lives. Reliable countermeasures against them would be devastating. "We're five miles out from shore-I'll bail a little ways off, try and put this bird in the ocean. Care to join me?"
Hsin was working with a plan of desperation. He knew it, but (with the iron in his voice over the radio) his men seemed not to. Or, at the very least, to see it as a better option. Hsin demanded obedience, but repaid it with effective leadership. His men trusted him absolutely. As Hsin and his men broke off from the Barronians, F Leader stopped vascillating and joined them.
The retreat stretched longer than the three minutes it took. Hsin turned occasionally and fired back at the pursuing Barronians-it was a bit less of a rout that way, and maybe it slowed them down a bit...
One of the survivors of Wing B and three planes from Wing F were shot down before Hsin guessed he was close enough. They could head inland or surrender to the New UN forces-probably a little gentler than the Barronians. As long as they stayed afloat, waves would carry them to the beach. Standard gear for a carrier pilot included a life jacket. It was worn by every man, more as a good luck charm than anything else.
"Lads, hope you haven't eaten lately," Hsin radioed dryly, "Bad for you to swim on a full stomach," That gallows humour distracted his men for a second, even if the laughter in a few cockpits had a tinge of hysteria.
"I know clumsy sonsa bitches like you can crash a plane, try and make it happen after you bail out, please." With a smile-like grimace, he nodded to his gunner, grabbed the backpack of emergency supplies beside his chair, and popped his cockpit. He'd trained for parachute drop, but he'd been too cocky to expect to have to need it.
The Void Templar fighters arrived to batter away at planes a little after parachutes started blooming beneath them. One more Javelin went down with it's slow-fleeing men inside, but the rest plummeted down empty.

"Templar Aircraft, this is Barronian Red Leader. Many thanks for the backup, the Mahrians were going to slaughter us. A couple of stafes where those aircraft land should let them know what's what."
A crackled response comes back. The Squadron Leader relays back information to the Venture.
"Control, this is Red Leader. We have received aid from the Templars. The enemy have crashed their planes into the sea. We're going to strafe a couple of times, then head home. We'd rather not run into the Mahrian ships...at least, not without bombs."
"Roger that Red Leader. Losses?"
"Red 4, 8, and 11. Blasted Mahrians got them from behind. They were rookies. Didn't deserve this."
"Received Red Leader. A sad loss. We'll be contacting the ground troops, make a note on where you expect them to hit shore, and they'll do their utmost to meet them."
"Roger Wilco Control. See you when we get home."
"Go steady Red Leader."
The Barronian fighters made a beeline for the slowly plummeting aircraft, observer/gunners busy making a note on the coastline. It would be valuable to the ground troops. The Mahrians, if all went as expected, would get one heck of a welcome...if all went as expected.
"Brigadier-General Ashan, this is Admiral Bryer. How goes it in Port Highland?"
"Sir, the area is being mined to oblivion. What's going on out there? We saw tracer, missiles going crazy..."
"Indeed. Mahrian raid. We're expecting a full assault soon. The Void Templars are aiding us with the use of 6 subs. A valuable addition."
"Indeed sir. Can I ask why you're contacting us?"
"You can indeed. We've gotten an assignment for you. The Mahrian fighter-bombers that hit us have ditched near the coast, and we need you to make a pickup. co-ordinates to follow. And be in force. Remember, their navy will know about this, so be quick and be quiet, but make sure there's enough armaments there to take care of a medium-sized force. I'll leave details to you. And remember, standard interrogation techniques. Bagged and Tagged, kept apart, et cetera. Good luck Ashan."
"Yes, sir, received loud and clear. Be careful out there."
"You too Ashan. See you back on land."
Ashan strode toward his 2 I/C.
"Right, Colonel. We've got downed pilots on the coast, we'll need to be picking them up for interrogation. The co-ordinates will arrive as soon as the fighters land."
"Yessir. I'll ready what we'll need."
"Good man. Dismissed!"

Hsin was surprisingly cold. Exhaustion had set in, once his heart had stopped racing from parachuting down. He'd lost his men, couldn't keep track of them and himself at the same time.
He'd wriggled loose from his chute when he hit the water. The soaked cloth had almost dragged him under, and he cursed it. The emergency pack was looped on to his belt, and he'd probably keep a hold of it. It was damn heavy and full of water, but too useful to abandon.
The pack had a knife, but Mahria didn't bother with issuing pilots sidearms. So, when he hit land, his only real chance was to get a ways inland and find somewhere to hide.
Hsin hadn't really planned much beyond that. While slowing floating in, he had time to realize (and deeply regret) that. He had no way of knowing how long it was until his feet finally scraped bottom. With a sigh of relief, he stood up (with difficulty) and sloshed towards the beach.
The Wing Leader (now with no Wing, come to think of it) knew the sound of aircraft engines. So he could make out that he was clearly hearing a land vehicle over the hill....
He stood in a daze for a moment, then swore bitterly. He cast around wildly for cover, somewhere to hide. There was nothing big enough, so he did the rational thing. He pulled out his knife, dropped his pack, and started stripping off his life vest.
If it was civilian, he supposed he'd try to scare them off. No! Take the car. If military... he supposed he'd get some transport at least. A warning shot off to his side made him jump. Aye, the thing was military.
"I... er, down my weapon," Hsin said brokenly. He didn't speak the local tounge. "Only weapon is this," he pointed to his knife, now on the sand. "I not fight."

General Reive, upon hearing a foreign man, rushed towards Sam Hall and began his formal greeting...
"Hello, sir. I am General Reive, head of all Rebel forces in NUN. I suppose you are the man from Mahria? It is an honor to meet you."
Reive then stuck out his hands for Sam Hall's handshake...

"Pilot, this is the Barronia Military, put down your weapon, hands behind your head. If you comply you will not be hurt."
Hsin dutifully complied. He was handcuffed, blindfolded, and put into the back of a Stryker.
5 minutes later, his blindfold was removed. He was still in the back, but why remove the blindfold?
"Pilot. You got a name? No matter. I'm Colonel Blunden. You're in the back of Pan-Arab Barronian Military Vehicle, and you're being transported to a secure facility. Now, I may have orders, but I find that civility between Officers is best." He hands Hsin a cup of hot coffee. Unusual for a military vehicle. He accepts it gratefully. The sea has cooled his body temperature to near hypothermic levels.
"Now then, pilot, care to tell me how we find you on the beach? Thought you fly-boys were meant to be in the air?"
A chuckle comes from the men inside the Stryker...

"Likewise, General Reive. But, of course, you aren't the rebels, my friend. You're the legitimate government. Hell, I've got a treaty right here that says so." with a politicians smile, Sam Hall cracked his briefcase. He drew out a thick folder. "I'm here to offer you full diplomatic recognition, which is lovely. And I'm here to offer you this, which (for now) you may appreciate more."
Mr Sam Hall proceeded to open his briefcase all the way. It was full of American, one hundred dollar bills. Full. "Shall we find somewhere quieter to talk?" Reives kept his cool surprisingly well as he led this shocking figure to a nearby tent.
Hall waved away the three other Mahrians who started to follow him. "This is between us, lads. Have a smoke."
When the two were alone, Sam Hall smiled. "Well, I need to be honest with you, General. We aren't here out of the goodness of our hearts. Once you take power, I'm afraid you'll have some small favours to pay back. However, we'll do our damnedest to make sure that you do take power. I've got money right here, and we've got munitions we can fly in. I'll stop in at your quartermasters, see what you need. With you permission, of course. Any questions so far?"
Reives, still surprised, nodded. "Go on, please," He didn't even try to get a word in edgewise.
"Cheerfully," said Hall, "Once you get a little closer to the coast, we'll have air support for you, and cruise missiles. All these fabulous things, just for signing a little paper as the New UN Head of State. Oh, by the way. Where are my manners? Got a glass?" Hall pulled out a flask and grinned, "Best rum in Mahria. Join me?"
Sharing a beverage can do wonders for closeness between people. Hsin learned this first hand. He felt a stunning gratitude to Blunden.
"My honest thanks for this. Deep, deep thanks," he said, lifting his cup. "And I'm Hsin. Wing Leader Tul Hsin, I spose. No goddamn Wing to lead, at the moment. I'll shake your hand once I stop mine shaking, sound good? As for why I was in the sea, I wanted to give your friends a chance, you see. Just not fair if I have a plane." a few men smiled or crooked an eyebrow.
"Gentlemen, can I ask you a favour?" Blunden nodded. "Could you tell me if you find any of my men? Officer to officer, I need to know if they are all right. And, uh, have you got a blanket, or a coat, by any chance? I do hate to abuse your hospitality, but, hmm. I'm damnably, damnably, cold."

"Ok. I like how this is going. But what is the cache? If this "Rebellion" suceeds, then what will become of me? What will become of the army?"
Reive pondered on the questions that he just blurted out and hoped for the best...
Hall shuddered in mock-horror, "Ah, the sacrifices we must make," he filled the cup to it's brim, took a slug from his flask, and went on. "In any case, you and the army have to make those choices yourselves. Clearly, it's in the interest of everyone to have this land stable... For us, the only catch is a few economic concessions. You'll let in PetroMahria to develop your oil fields-a fine choice anyways, excellent company-and permit us to set up military bases here to project power in the region. Just a few, of course.
Of course, we'll have our side of the bargain-PetroMahria will pay any reasonable taxes, and our people stationed here will assist you against agressors. All the details are in the treaty here, numbers and dates and formalities. You know, politicians work, not soldiers work. Look over it, tell me what you think in a bit. Hell, read it and sign now, if you want-let me bring some good news back to my boss."
Sam-and Reives was starting to think of him as Sam-refilled the cup and wet his own throat after talking.
Mahrian diplomats were, as Hall had said, political. They didn't actually mean any harm to the New UN, in actual fact. If PetroMahria had it's own definition of "reasonable taxes," what worry was that to Reives? There were some wonderful nation-to-nation loans offered as well. Ones meant to tie the New UN to Mahria in perpetuity, as it turned out. Sam Halls folksy manner masked a deep loyalty to his country, and a full understanding of the situation.
Reives or his chosen head of state would be prosperous, a leader of a well-run country. As long as they stayed in line.

Reive, slowly but surely, was becoming under the influence of the strong drink...
"Mo....mo....drink..." Reive put out his cup and signaled for more from the flask...

In Dresdale, the men were getting bored.
"Commander?"
"Yeah?"
"Where do you come from?"
"I come from Terra Prime. Born and bred."
"What happened to your ma and pa?"
"They... they were killed in a rebel raid."
"God... SOrry, cap't, I never knew..."
"Yeah, how could you... Thats where the army found me actually."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. I was biting chunks out of a rebels arm."
The private moved slowly away.
Hsin nodded gravely. "You're a good man, Blunden. Damn shame you're on the wrong side." He was getting more and more accepting of his situation. There was no eagerness, but neither was there the blind terror he'd felt at the outset. With a sympathetic shrug, one of the soldiers replaced Hsins blindfold.
Further out to sea, the Mahrian fleet was moving with discipline and calm. The carriers had reached the just right point for launching planes. A full one hundred and fifty planes were up or going up. Of these, fourty were bombers, carrying either conventional munitions or torpedoes to be dropped. The other one hundred and ten were dogfighters, fast, lean vicious craft. Seventy would join the bombers, fourty would shield the carriers.
Each carrier had three guarding destroyers-two specialized for anti-air, and one set up to counter submarines. Of the fleets six submarines total, three hung back defensively and three stalked forward.
The Mahrians had reached their battle with Barronia at last. The Void Templar group was taken seriously, but overall confidence was high. Mahrian interests would not be challenged by anyone.
Back in camp, Sam Hall was both amused and concerned. He'd hoped to make Reives a little more well disposed-not so much from intoxication, but the social aspect of two men sharing a few glasses. What Hall hadn't realized was that the responsibility of command (plus simple scarcity) hadn't given Reives the chance to drink for some time. As such, he'd lost every bit of alcohol tolerance.
With another man, Sam would have been having a great time. There would be the classic, "I bet you wouldn't..." and a story for later. Sam could hardly resist here.
Still, he was a diplomat for his country, and Reives was an opposing head of state. In his current state, however, Reives could (justifiably) feel exploited and angered if made to sign a treaty. (If he couldn't quite recall signing, for example...)
As such, Sam carefully pulled the treaty away. With an interior grumble, he poured a tiny drop more rum into Reives cup as the man asked. From there, he cast about for water and saw a pair of canteens. He pulled both over, and poured water in on top of the rum. (Desecration, but necessary.) He encouraged Reives along through a great deal more water.
After some time, Reives seemed a bit more lucid. Sam Hall repeated and set out properly Mahrias offer, as far as military protection.
"Should you be attacked, reinforcements will certainly arrive. Most likely to be air and water, though-but we can strengthen your land army.
We'll sell you arms from the outset, and offer additonal training to your army if you want it. As far as winning the current war... we just don't have the men in our land army. We can 'loan' you some officers-to help speed up training. We can help hammer new recruits into something a little harder, which tends to be important in these situations.
Being frank, Reives? I like our chances, as long as you can gain some popular support. The cash should help with that-and we've got more where that comes from. Besides, if we can push Barronia out, we'll have free reign over the country with bombers. That'll be a nice thing, eh?"
Sam Hall gave an interior sigh of relief. Reives seemed more alert, and had stopped looking a little green. Hall was not going to have to clean up the vomit of a future head of state.

When the Cruisers picked up the armada of aircraft moving across their screens, all hell broke loose.
"Sir, sir, we have incoming, too many to count!"
"Get the indentifier on there! Get on to the Parthen-"
An explosion. Followed by another, then four more.
"What the hell was that?!?"
"This is Captain Fallows, of the Parthenon. We've taken 6 torpedoes, although the hull stayed 2. We've suffered heavy damage, taking on water! We're a sitting duck here, requesting cover! I repeat , we're a sitting duck!"
The Admiral's voice cuts in.
"Right, get yourselves together. What's the situation on the cruiser?"
"We've picked up 100-plus aircraft, what appears to be between 30 and 50 bombers, at least 60 escorting."
"Noted. We'll be sending up what's on the Venture." His voice is muffled for a second. "Parthenon. What's the situation? Can you still fight?"
"Yes sir, though we're unable to move and taking on water. All pumps are going full out."
"Good. We'll have you towed into Port Highland soon enough, they've got a dry dock there. Evorense, are you in range?"
"Barely sir. We might be able to hit some lead ships, but we'd have to move to hit the carriers."
"Noted. All battleships, begin targeting procedures, take out the lead ships. Then we'll deal with those carriers. Suggested armaments? Aegis teams, get near those battleships, we can't afford to lose them. Assault carriers, get those helicopters up, search nearby for submarines and drop the sonars. Am I clear?"
"Sir, yes sir. It looks to be piercing shell rounds that we'll be using."
"Excellent. Patriae Fidelitas, gentlemen. Patriae Fidelitas."
The line goes dead. Looking out of the bridge windows, the admiral can see the carrier lifts already bringing fighters up. Capable of carrying 100 Fighters plus 3 refuelers and other aircraft, it will be at least 15 minutes before all planes are in the air. The planes will engage less than 500 metres from the front line of ships. With the two other battlegroups still 12 hours away, and 10 before aircraft will be in range, this will be a battle Barronia may not walk away from. They'd need all the help Void Templars and NUN could muster.
Hsin, being blindfolded, was walked to another vehicle - a lorry this time. He was driven for 10 minutes, before disembarking and being led inside a bunker.
He was taken through, left, right, right, left, right, right, before the turns became too numerous to count and remember. Finally, his blindfold was removed. He was in a white cell, bare, but not uncomfortable. A bed, desk, sink, and seperate toilet. Sat at the desk, facing him, was yet another Barronian officer.
"Wing Leader Hsin, I presume? I'm Lieutenant Harman. I'll be in charge of your detainment during your time as a POW of Barronia. Now, you're in a secure compound in Port Highland, and, as soon as this little fight is over, you'll be moved to Pan-Arab Barronia for further questioning.
Don't worry however, as you'll be kept fully fed and watered here - 3 hot meals a day, and a formal dinner with us Officers if you choose." Spotting the somewhat stunned look on Hsin's face, Harman laughed.
"Weren't expecting that, were you Wing Leader?" He chuckles again. "We're not monsters. We're not the 'pour oil down your throat' or 'electroshock treatment' type interrogators, Hsin. We leave that to the less civilised types. We believe that, as military personnel, you're entitled to some respect. Now, we've laid out some Barronian Officers Dress here, we think it'll fit. You may have noticed you were measured on your way in. We'll leave you to get dressed, and my men will come and pick you up shortly."
He leaves, shutting the heavy metal door behind him.

"Ferdelance, this is Deephound."
"Go ahead, Deephound."
"We've sighted the enemy main fleet. A good few carriers, each with 3 destroyers guarding it. And we're also picking up 3 submarines on radar. Hundreds of planes launching, I'm counting around 40 bombers, and more than 100 fighters."
"Goddamn. We don't have nearly enough power to take 'em out. Still, we cant just leave the PAB fleet to their fate. Do we have any K-50s?" the admiral asked his flight commander.
"No sir, the Guardian was carrying them. However, we have 34 torpedo bombers, and 50 more Black Toms in addition to those already in air."
"What of the Flail, and her fleet?"
"Their still en route, they won't be here for another day or two sir."
"Well," the admiral sat down. "We're screwed then. Hell, launch all the Black Toms." He turned to his radio.
"Attention, battle fleet. The Mahrian main force has been spotted. They out number us greatly, so I want a screen in front of the Lance. Turn all your flak guns towards the enemy. 3 submarines have been confirmed by Deephound. Good luck men." He turned around.
"We're gonna need it."

"Sir, message received from the PAB fleets. they want us to take out the enemy subs."
"Rodger that. Get some Avengers up, stick Depth Charges on 'em. Oh, and get Black Squadron to escort them."
The Black Squadron, in their Vulture-class interceptors, were already circling the carrier as the Avengers took off,
"This is Depth leader. Good to have you with us."
"Your damn lucky to. We were supposed to relocate to the mainland, land in Dresdale."
"Well, thanks for the escort anyways."
The planes flew towards the hidden subs, guided by Deephound.

"Chief Constable, we've no doubt you know what's going on in New United Nations. Now, there's been a request for ARP's, so, we want to know - do you have men available?"
"Erm...well, minister...I can most certainly see what we have available."
"Good. We'll set a secure login for you downstairs, with a secured phoneline. We need to know now."
25 minutes later, the Chief Constable knocks on the door.
"Well, sir, I've been able to muster 500 men, trained in Riot Containment and firearms."
"Excellent. Thankyou Constable, your help will not be forgotten."
"Of course, minister."
At an airbase near Misenae, the 500 men are in ranks, fully geared up for transport in the Pelicans to New United Nations.
"Right gentlemen, you're in foreign territory. You'll be working to maintain a curfew from 2200 to 0800hrs. That means all-night work. The NUN will be providing you with a place to stay. As a rule of thumb, attempt to restrain the men, but, if they attack you, don't be afraid to take them down. You'll be working in teams of 5, so hopefully you won't be outnumbered. You'll have your MP5s, and don't be afraid to immobilize.
"Gentlemen, you may retire for the night, I'll see you when this conflict is over."

Mahrian aircraft sped a goodly ways towards the Barronians, circling a little outside of easy range. The fragmentary reports of the missing-presumed-lost Wings of Javelins had instilled a greater respect for Barronian anti-air capacities.
As such, the bombers armed with conventional arms hung back with a handful of escorts. They wouldn’t be heading in until the Fish had their effect. The majority of fighter cover moved forward with the torpedo-carrying planes. The missiles started crashing into the water a few at a time. The torpedo-bearers quickly turned back to take up new payloads.
The Mahrian Fish were dangerous devices, but heavy from their large warheads and guidance systems. As such, for a plane to have ANY hope of dodging enemy fire, they couldn’t try to carry more than two. Being dropped in shifts, masses of the Fish knifed through the ocean.
Three submarines slunk along far below the air-dropped torpedoes. Their crews could make out the outlines of several Barronian ships, but didn’t want to move up and risk friendly fire.
Concealment wasn’t a concern-the Void Templar subs had already found them. The Mahrian subs gambled, broke radio silence to find their way to the bulk of their aircraft. Templar air was taken very seriously. If the anti-sub group could be lured into a dogfight and destroyed it would do open wonderful options for Mahrian subs.
Hsin was above all, practical. While he was not fully comfortable with wearing Barronian fatigues, he was much less comfortable wearing still-damp clothes. The uniform laid out for him fit as well as could be expected, and he towelled himself off vigourously with an extra shirt. The radiator in the room was an old model, but he hauled the bed over next to it and wrapped himself up tightly. He didn’t expect hypothermia, but he was still bone cold.
A long, tense, terrifying day had taken a heavy toll on him. There was not a trace of energy left in his reserves, and he let himself collapse. Harmans man who came for Hsin took one look at him and left him sleeping.
To have tried to awaken the Wing Leader would be cruel-and quite possibly futile. Harman confirmed this when contacted, leaving his new prisoner to sleep.
