The 44th Stadtmanner (Sm) Brigade, of the Gewts, was established today in Polga, their city headquarters. This brigade of six thousand men is an experiment for a new type of unit. The regular divisions and smaller units of the Gewts are all trained in the similiar area, wood fighting. But Colonel Taus brought up a good point with one Major General Maultz. What if we had to take a city? This question sparked a new kind of experimental unit and debate. Troops were pulled from the 1st Infantry Division, including Captain Franz Baultz, the Emperor's son, and several other divisions, mostly raw recruits with several expierenced officers.

The brigade's most experimental quality was the testing of a new weapon carbine, Gewhar Baultz C13. Its shortened barrel allowed the troops to move into tighter quarters easily. This gun is used in limited quantities with conjunction of the Steyr Mannlicher M95C.

Also, the 44th has brought up a need for shorter barrels, and they've made modifications to the Styer's they use prodiminatly. They shortened the bolt turner, and also dipped it downwards. The overall length of the gun had been reduced to one thousand milimeters and the barrels a mere four hundred eighty milimeters. This was detrimental to the range and brought it down to a mere four hundred meters, though this wasn't lowering to the brigade's men's moral. Also, 60millimeter portable mortars where even more prominant here than they had been in any other unit, being a four mortars per platoon.

OOC: I don't mean to be a stinker like I was about the torpedo bomber thing on the other thread, but I don't think you can use a MP-18 design at the moment since it wasn't even developed until 1915.

ooc: sorry to burst the bubble, but I've had this conversation with HT already regarding MGs on planes.... i made a post in the sign up thread regarding this sort of thing.

historic techs are pretty much going in lockstep with warfare... we need a ww1 to get a lot of things, and in 1914, forget torpedo bombers, no one's even got planes with MGs on them. they don't show up until 1915.

edit: yes, this applies to things such as submachine guns etc as well. heck, LIGHT machine guns don't show up until during the war, if i remember rightly.
