IC:
The nameless Chaoslord waited silently in the dim light of the Dead Swamp. He and his warband had traveled long and hard over the mountains, losing many warriors, but had finally reached the swamp. He could smell the humans in the nearby town. Around him were 120 Lemurians. 80 of them were the lightly armored Gors, wielding swords, khopeshs, axes, flails, and Ungors who carried thier spears and shields. 30 Bestigors, clad in thier black armor and carrying thier huge great-axes huffed and snarled, eager to get into battle. Finally, he had brought with him from the steppes 10 Centigors, Lemurians with the lower torso of a goat, making a quick and powerful cavalry.

His warband stood or sat, waiting for one of the cowardly Ungor scouts to return. He had been gone for nearly an hour, and the warband was getting restless. The Chaoslord cursed himself for not bringing any Lemurians from Swamptribes, who would've been right at home.

Finally, as the full moon rose above the sky, the Ungor returned. "A village my lord, a village full of men." The Chaoslord, crowned in his helm, tightened the grip on his warhammer.
"I know this Ungor! Tell me of the defense!"
"Y-yes my lord! Small, very small! Easily defeatable!"
"Good," the Chaoslord huffed. "Then let us begin!"

The Gors rushed from the swamp into the village of Totenburg, the Ungors behind them, slaughtering any human before them. The Bestigors, more controlled, followed behind them, walking casually with the Chaoslord into the quickly burning village, waiting for the guard to attack. The Centigors simply waited, waiting for their turn.

Of tactics, there was none. The Lemurians had simply rushed in and began to kill and burn as much as they could. They seemed almost not to care of the local guard, and figured they would act on them when the time was right.

Captain Klaus Weimann sat in the barracks chatting with the Totenburg Guard about a play they ha seen when cries were heard from outside the compound. The garrison rushed outside to see a horde of creatures attacking the townspeople.

"Guardsmen! Drive this horde out!" shouted the Captain. The Guardsmen snatched up their arms, mostly Gladius' and Wolframs. The Captain grabbed his Shotgun and fixed the serated bayonet. An odd wretchlike creature jumped at him from across the road. "Get out of my Town!" he screamed as he blasted it with a slug, crumpling the wretch at his feet. "Who wants some!?" he screamed as he cocked the lever slamming in another shell. The other guardsmen, not equipped with firearms, were having a slightly harder time.

"Delta Formation!" screamed a soldier. The garrison troops moved into a triangle and began fending off the attackers.

OOC: I know it seems like it's a godmod to have the captain have a shotgun but just remember that there is only one shotgun in that whole garrison, so the odds are pretty equal.

The Gors, pulled back, and then slammed into the right formation, the Ungors poking from behind with thier spears. They cared not for death, but only the love of battle. Swords hacked at arms, axes bit heads, and spears punctured torsos. The Bestigors, hidden by the fires of battle, roared and plunged into the left of the formation, breaking thier own formation to swing thier great axes 180 degrees into the guardsmen.

The Chaoslord stood behind his warriors, watching, waiting for his time to face the guard leader one on one.

"Man down!" yelled a soldier tending to a wounded man.

"Keep fast, men!" yelled the Captain as he stuck a creature in the chest with his bayonette, then discharged a slug into him, knocking him back into a few smaller creatures. He slammed open the bolt and loaded another seven shells. As for the other soldiers, 13 were dead, about a sixth of their force. This worried the Captain, but he knew he must fight or die. The townspeople also mustered their strength back and began striking back at the attackers with anything they could get their hands on. The most help came from the pub where the miners were streaming out in fits of rage attacking the attackers with pick-axes and shovels. "I want a man to wire a signal to Wesschtadt!" yelled the Captain as he fired off more shells into the attackers.

Gors were fallign, which meant that Ungors were planning on running. The Chaoslord roared and swung his warhammer about, hoping to scare off the villagers. With his roar as a signal, the 5 Centigors thundered from the swamp, thier lances in hand. They curved around the village and approached the guardsmen of the rear, picking up full speed and slamming into them, thier lances outstretched, impaling any foe unlucky enought to be infront of them.

They didn't stop either, but continued through the group until finally breaking out of the tip of the triangle. They then rampaged through the townsfolk, killing until they were called again.

With renewed vigor the Gors and Ungors pressed forward. The Gors had strength double of a man, and cleaved and cut with awsome fury. Blood stained the ground in Totenburg, and the flames of the town climbed higher and higher, as did the intensity of the battle.

"Men are falling, sir!" said a soldier.

"Hit the riders with your bows!" shouted the Captain. A few of the soldiers grabbed odd looking contraptions and held them up, aiming at the riders. They pulled back a knob on the bow, setting the arms in place. "Fire!" said the Captain. The massive amounts of torque flund the arms forward, launching a heavy metal spike at the riders. a few arrows missed and hit other things, but some made the mark. The miners started making a push towards the large Gors. They used a sort of gang assault tactic to take them out, first attacking their legs, then after they fell, delivering the coup de gras to their head with a pick-axe.

some of the Centigors fell into the formation, crushing soldiers under their dead weight, but 3 survived and began killing any townsfolk near the Gors and Ungors. The Chaoslord gave another shout, and the other five rushed from the swamp, quickly moving at highspeed to trample and crush the townsfolk. The Centigors moved as one units, calvary easily slaying and killing the unarmoed and light weapon wielding villagers.

Not only that, but they were villagers! Shoemakers, miners, pub owners. The Lemurians had only one profession:

War.

The Chaoslord waded into the tip of the now faltering triangle, swinging his warhammer, which seemed to glow with fire, at the enemy. The tip was being sheared off by the leader of the Warband, and the fighting was only getting more ferocious.

They had the numbers
They had the will
And by the gods, they would burn this village to the ground!

"Everyone Fall back! Fall back to the Barracks!" shouted the Captain as he pumped a slug into a Gor's chest. The remaining soldiers, miners and townsfolk ran at full speed back to the barracks. Bowmen were already on the roof firing bolts into the hordes of beasts trying to hit as many as they could. The Captain was the last one in firing off the last round in the chamber at a Gor. He looked up at the Chaoslord and glared at him, then rolled backwards into the barracks as some soldiers slammed the doors shut and barricaded them. Menwhile, a soldier had wired a message for support to Wesschtadt. It read:

Totenburg under attack STOP Most of us dead STOP need reinforcements immediately STOP God help us STOP

At the airbase in Wesschtadt, two biplanes took off from the runway and flew in towards the besieged town. Due to the hurry, they didn't carry much of their 4x34mm ammunition.

The Lemurains roared with delight as the humans broke rank and ran, and slayed many as they ran. The Chaoslord roared, and the Lemurians began to loot and burn as much as they could, staying clear from the deadly bows.

The town was being razed to the ground, and any inhabitants caught outside were totured and killed. The mine was mostly destroyed, and the warband bayed with glee at the site of progress being destroyed.

Finally, after a good amount of time, Totenburg had been destroyed, save for the barracks. The Chaoslord was about to sound his horn for the attack when he heard a strange humming in the distance.

OOC: I figured in the time it took the biplane to get there, the town would have been sacked.

The remaining townsfolk and soldiers watched in horror as their town was burned to the ground. A few Gor were picked off here and there by bowmen, but it didn't resew the wounds of those inside. Right before the beasts staged their final assault, a hum was heard in the distance. The Captain took a pair of binoculars and looked out to see two biplanes roar towards the sacked town.

At the biplanes...

"Red one, Totenburg has been spotted...BY GOD, THEY BURNED IT TO THE GROUND!" shouted a pilot.

"Red two! I copy! Begin a recon run over Totenburg!" said the other pilot. The planes roared over the destroyed town, taking note of the situation. They saw the soldiers in the barracks and the assaulting horde in the streets. "Engage!" shouted Red one as he and the other pilot pulled their biplaned into a nosedive and unleashed their twin 4x34mm rounds on the Horde.

The Chaoslord was mezmerized by the flying machines, and his entire warband watched as they came back around.

And then they began firing. His Gors and Ungors fell in droves, neraly 13 dead on the first run. The Chaoslord blew on his horn and sounded the retreat, running into the swamp where his warband could remain hidden. Before dissappering into the swamp, the Chaoslord locked eyes with the barracks commander, praying a silent curse, before dissapearing into the swamp.
**********************************************************
Several Hours later, at the center of the swamp...
The warband was busy carving out a campsite of the wet and cold swamp, the fires that were able to get started providing little warmth. The warriors grumbled over the bodies they had left behind, and how great such meat would've tasted.

The Chaoslord however had more important things on his mind. He called his fastest remaining Centigor over.
"We are not finished here. You remember the way through the mountains, yes?" The Centigor nodded.

"Of course my lord."

"Good. Return to the Dreadichor tribe, and try to round up some more warriors. There should be a Doombull there looking for plunder...and bring a Witch Doktor!" The Centigor slammed his chest with his fist in a crude salute.

"Do you wish for more Gors, my lord?"

"Bring anything you can find."

The Centigor ran off towards the Fuhren Mountains, while the Chaoslord merely planned his next move.

The battle was far from over.

The biplanes flew back to Wesschtadt and landed, then the pilots headed immediately to the governor's Mansion. The Governor had already recieved a wire from Totenburg and dispatched an armored cavalry column up to Totenburg. A zepellin was also en route carrying marines from Handfurt Magna.

The Chaoslord took stock of his new warband in the swamp. His second in command, a Doombull of considerable strength had brought a witch doktor, 40 Beastigors and 3 packs of Chaos Hounds. The Chaoslord had 110 under his command now, less then the first attack, but better overall. He waited for the full moon to rise, unti finally he sent the Gors and Ungors out towards the barracks.

The only thing really standing, the Gors and Ungors hoped to catch the guards by suprise, thier bodies hidden in the dark of night. They made no sounds, and began to scale the walls of the barracks, weapons on thier backs. Thye Ungors, the weaker and smaller of the two, stayed on the ground, preparing to throw thier spears if needed.

The entirety of the Beastigors waited just inside the swamp, along with the Doombull and Chaoslord. The Witch Doktor remained hidden elsewhere, chanting his prayers to strange gods.

Hang on, it isn't that easy. There is a column of armored cavalry and a zepellin with marines there. They have lights everywhere so they can see. Plus, a perimeter has been set up with fang-wire. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but my men have no chance if the Hordes can slip up to the barracks and attack without anyone noticing.

The WitchDoktor ran ahead, pouring bottles of acid onto parts of the fang wire, staying as far away from the light as possible. After melting a section in half, the Ungors began to pull it away slwoly, making no noise. Finally, the entrance being secured, the Gors and Ungors rushed forth, thier weapons swinging wildly above thier heads, screaming and baying as they went.

The Doombull, at eight feet tall and with an axe as large as man joined the Gors and Ungors in the mad charge, his roar echoing through the night. The Witch Doktor, back at the edge of the swamp quickly mumbled off a prayer, flinging a fireball from his hands and into the floating zeppelin.

The entirety of the Beastigors waited just inside the swamp, Chaoslord and Beastigors. Their time would come....their time would come...

The roar was heard thrupught the camp as the Horde ran in. A soldier on watch blared the Klaxon at the barracks and shouted battlestations, sending the soldiers into a frenzy. The armored cavalry fired up their heavy steam engines and began the move forward into Totenburg while the zepellin docked above shined large lights down onto the scene. From the deck of the zepellin, some marine sharpshooters with rifles began firing while the rest of them dropped ropes and slid down to the fight below. The marines unsheathed their two scimitars and charged in to battle against the Gor and company.

OOC: Those are muskets thier firing...right?

IC: The Doombull ran ahead of the Gor and Ungrs, and sliced the marines in two. The Gos and Ungors roared in delight and ran headlong into the barracks, paying no heed of the world around them. The fireball would take care of the Zeppelin.

The Doombull slammed his zxe against the door of the barracks, and would continue pounding it until it opened. The Gors and Ungors meanwhile climbed, the Gors pushing up from atop the Ungors bodies. They were eager, they were ready....

They were hungry.

OOC: Think of them as Late-Civil War miniballs. Accurate, but slow to load.

IC: The soldiers from atop the barracks fired their bolts from their torque bows at the assaulting doombull while The Captain fired slugs at him from a small firing port in the barracks. The armored cavaly moved into Totenburg and parked. While the gunners fired the small field gun at the doombull, the driver switched the transmission into defense, putting all of the engine's power away from the drive train and into the heavy spinning maces on the outside of the vehicle; a good deterrent for attacking them. The Marines that were left retreated back away from the bull, then circled around and hit the Ungrs from behind. The infantry from the Armored Cavalry Column started firing their crossbows into the horde, looking for east hits. Some of the other soldiers on the barracks grabbed falchions and started slicing wildly over the side, knowcking off the climbers unlucky enough to get struck by the blade.

The Chaoslord made a signal, and the Witch Doktor cast another fireball at the roof of the barrakcs, burning those ontop alive. The Doktor then turned his attention towards the mace-spinner, and threw two fireballs at it. The heat would surely turn the inside of the device into an overn. With his work done, the Chaoslord told the Witch Doktor to return to a deeper part of the swamp, and await his call to return.

The Doombull, close to death from the Torque Bows, finally broke open the door, before his massive body fell inside, dead. The Gors and Ungors who still lived quickloy proceeded to run inside, killing and slaying as they went. No commands, no formations, just wild and crazy bloodlust. They had no concern for thier own safety, thier barbarity a fighting skill in its own right.

With the door down and his warriors rushing inside, The Chaos lord let loose the Chaos Hounds, overgrown wolves, to wreak havoc. The dogs were blurs in the night, speeding towards the barracks, jumping on top or rushing inside to devour the inhabitants.

The Chaoslord stepped forth, his all 40 of his Beastigors around him, and rushed for the barracks, making sure to stay away from the mace device. The Chaoslord called the WitchDoktor to hide among the brush, but to launch 2 more fireballs at the opposing force. The Chaoslord was going to kill the man with the big gun, and make his skin into a fine cape.

The Armored Cavalry moved up towards the fort, firing their field guns at any enemy group they could hit. Meanwhile, inside the barracks, a barricade had been thrown together. The Captain and the bowmen were shooting at the incoming enemies while other soldiers stabbed at the charging Gors and Ungrs with spears. Some of the miners were throwing flaming whiskey bottles at the invaders that broke and set them ablaze. Another call for the biplanes had come in and the Zepellin had released ballast and rose to a safe hieght.

The Gors and Ungors cared little for the flames or pain, and kept pushing on until they fell. However, the Beastigors were more eager to kill. The Chaoslord and his Beastigors pushed the Gors and Ungors out of the way, and crushed any human in thier way. They had the strength of five men, and thier great axes sent the humans flying. The only thing they could do was run.

The Gors and Ungors followed behind them, killing anything that the Beastigors left behind.

24-03-2007, 16:55
With the barricade knocked down, the soldiers resorted to dirty tactics. They snapped off the hose to the steam generator inside the barracks and used it to spray scalding steam in the faces of the beastigors, boiling their eyes. The Marines attacked the Gors und Ungrs from behind again while the Armored cavalry began firing on the beastigors inside the barracks.

Thw Witch Doktor quickly launched two more fireballs at the mace-spinner, and prepared to cast a lightining bolt at it.

The Beastigors were now blind with rage, and begun swinging thier great axes wildly, killing humans, gors, and Ungors. The Chaoslord's sight remained however, and he led the warriors with his voice alone.

"Keep firing!" yeeled the Captain as he snapped the bolt shut and pumped the lever of his gun, chambering another round. He stabbed a Gor in the throat and pulled the trigger, watching in glee as the Gor's head and brains were splattered in the faces of the attackers. A few Armored Cavalry started firing at the witch doktor while the rest continued to shoot at the beastigors and friends.

The Witch Doktor yelped, and dissappered into the swamps. The Gors behind the Beastigors were almost dead, and no Ungors remained. The Beastigors were falling, trapped between the weak humans and the bullets of behind.

But the Chaos lord rallied them with one large war cry, and in one motion they all heaved forward, pushing the humans back, and then jumping through them, leaving the humans behind to soak up beullets. The Beastigors were big and heavy, and no human body could stop thier weight. As they regained thier footing they began swinging wildly, killing with renewed vigor and visciousness seen only in a cornered animal.

"Cease fire!" yelled the Cavalry commander. The Soldiers and civilians inside the barracks began to fight theur way out of the barracks to the cavalry. With the enemy holde up in the barracks, the Captian chose a course of action. "All cavalry! Fire inside the barracks! light it up!"

The Chaoslord had realized that he had made a mistake. The building was now burning, and his Beastigors were being burned along with the building. This is it. The Chaoslord called to his warriors. "Now we die! My Khorne sit upon our skulls!!!" With a final bit of fury the Chaoslord and the Beastigors rushed out of the building, running headlong into anything they could find, even the mace machine. It was thier final attempt to kill as much as possible, thier final attempt at chaos.

"Now!" yelled the Captain into the transmitter. One of the biplanes swooped low and hosed some of the beastigors with its peashooter. The crew leaped out of the machine in fright as the boiler cracked, spewing scalding steam all over the inside.

The Lemurians hadn't thought of the flying machine, and as such, were layed waste to. They fell in droves, but not before one final act was commited. The Chaoslord, full of bullets, roared as he threw his massive warhammer at the barracks commander, before he fell to the ground in a pool of blood.

The Witch Doktor retreated to the swamp, where the Centigors were waiting. he commanded them to return with him to Lemuria, to tell the Dreadichor tribe of the weapons of the Confederation. They set off with haste.

As the bodies lay strewn about the town, one had to ask, had not the Warband been successful? The town existed no longer, even the barracks was now in flames. One could even percieve a faint smile upon the face of the Chaoslord, his corpse oozing with the blood that had driven him to rage.
