In days, months, and indeed years that have passed since slavery was a hot topic, we have watched as nations from around the globe engage in the trafficking of human beings for slave labor. There was a time when the Freekish Empire, alongside its Panteran blood allies, staunchly opposed slave traders and actively put them to the sword. Many slave traders and owners were put to death, and this vile practice was all but extinct. But sadly, the lessons of old are no longer heeded by some, and a new era of 'education' is in order.

The Excesively Armed Empire of Automagfreek views slavery as a coward's business, devoid of any honor and justification. Though my own actions against dissidents have been brutal (and according to some, unspeakable), I have never tortured or killed a man that did not deserve it. Though I myself have put many thousands to the sword, I would not dare rob another man of his honor so long as he still breathes. Slavery is impractical and foolish for many reasons, one being that the men and women being oppressed can easily contribute more to a nation by driving an economy or military forward, instead of being servants to the ruling elite.

Therefore, I hereby declare that all global slave trades are to cease immediately. All peoples suffering the shackles of slavery are to be set free within the lands they are imprisoned in, or they may be deported to Automagfreek, where they will be given a place within our superior society. Any nation, corporation, or entity that refuses to comply with this order will simply be destroyed, their lands pillaged and set ablaze, and their own slave owning scum they call citizens put to death.

If by weeks end this decree is not fulfilled, the Sentinels and Freekish soldiers will act with a merciless iron fist. Though our allies are likely to join us in this endeavor, we have no fears of acting alone and erradicating every last spineless slaver. The time for diplomacy is over, and the time for action is here.

The clock is running, and slavers....I suggest immediate compliance.

Mere moments after the decree was issued, in a show of force Lord Dreafire ordered the entire Freekish military to go on full alert, with several of his main first strike elements moving into positions to begin maneuvers. Freekish bases afar were also given the order, and their garrisons sprang for into action and began preparing for deployment should the order come.

Damien himself left the comfort of the Great Hall and flew to St. Freeksburg, where his flagship the Mouth For War awaited him. Rumor was beginning to circulate that the Warlord himself would be leading the coming assaults should the slave traders not comply, and it was largely agreed upon by Damien's advisors that they would not.

Hundreds of thousands of Sentinels spilled forth from their bases and began moving towards the various deep water ports around the northern and eastern coasts. The Freekish military had been pioneering many new weapons, ships and vehicles in the years it had spent in resting, and all analysts agreed that it would simply be a matter of time before they were put to use.

The decree by Damien was on the lips of every Freekish citizen as they watched their televisions eagerly, waiting for any development. Their loyalty to Damien was still as strong now as it was when he first assumed power, and the crusade against slavery was one that the Freeks remembered, and supported more than ever.

The tides of war were beginning to rise yet again, and the dark storm clouds that loomed over ULE City would be the precursor to something much more sinister.....

Within minutes of their hearing of Damien Dreadfires latest decleration, the Red Tide Mafia shutdown any slave trading operations they had, executed all of the heads of aforementioned slave trading operations, and free'd any slaves in the process of being transported/used. Although their slave trade operations were actually pretty small and usually ran under-the-radar, the leader of the Red Tide Mafia had deemed the risks too great, such was the power of Damien Dreadfire. All of this was done quietly of course.

The Red Tide Goverment, who were completely oblivious too all of the above, immediatly began sucking-up.

Damien's announcement had swept through Pantera with the same flare as it had through Automagfreek. The evening news programs were all abuzz, anticipating the Lord Reaver's statement that was sure to follow. One particularly volatile program featured a pair of southern Lords, denouncing Dreadfire's proclamation as "Yet another flimsy excuse for furthering his imperialistic ambitions".

Shortly after the sun fell below the horizon in Pantera, the Evenstar made his appearance, looming grim and terrible behind the piodium, with every channel across the Panteran nation showing his lean, bearded face. The herald cried from off-camera,"Glory to Pantera! The Lord Reaver, Dayne the Evenstar!"

As always, Pantera and all her might stand with the cause of freedom and the Rights of all Men. It is, of course, the duty of every Free Nation to ensure the liberty of it's brothers and sisters, and any nation that does not step forward to defend and ensure that liberty is as good as complicit.

My brother Damien's words ring across the earth, a rallying cry for a cause more worthy than any other. Shackles and chains chafe and erode the souls of men, and their time on this earth will soon be at it's end, for all men are born Free.

So I add my voice to my brother's. Rise up, those of you who are in chains. Rise up, for you are now Free! Your bonds are broken by my Word, made into Law by the might of Pantera and Mighty Gholgoth.

Slave-masters and opressors: Cast aside your whips, because they will not protect you from the uprising that has begun. You will find us most generous, in return for your cooperation. Any economic consequences caused by the upheaval of emancipation will be alleviated, in part, by Pantera, her allies, and my own coffers.

There will be no further discussion, only compliance.

Curling in on itself and looping briefly before reaching for the sky once again, the lick of flame danced around the hearth. At one point it merged with another lick, growing to heights that dwarfed the others, before pulling away again and twirling around. Burntfur's yellow eyes focussed in on the ballet, mesmerised by the whole scene. The power of the gods was undeniable - it was right in front of his nose. Fire was the giver of life and death at the same time, a power that fuelled all of the technology of Charr and man alike. Even the sun, and all the stars around it, was fire, burning at untold temperatures for unbelievable periods of time.

Fire was of course merely the form the gods took in the mortal realm, to give life to the worthy and to take it away from the unworthy, and to grant limited use of their power to honoured warriors. Their true forms were monstrous, terrifying beasts that could not be looked upon with mortal eyes, with limitless powers of unspeakable destruction. Like all things in the mortal realm, fire could be extinguished or run out of air, but the power of the gods in their true forms was unstoppable. Some said by that watching a burning fire, one could see immortal battles in the divine realm being played out in the mortal one.

"Clan Leader," a high-pitched, whiny voice called from the doors to his rustic, wooden office, illuminated only by the hearth and burning torches on the walls. Burntfur was shaken from his musings, and grew concerned that he hadn't heard the individual enter.

"What is it?" Burntfur asked, turning to see who it was who was disturbing his homage to the Gods. Just an aide, nothing more, and a tiny human one at that. Despite being the Charr to have given the humans of Tyria their present freedoms in the first place, he could never get used to seeing them wander around the great halls of the Capitol. Nor could he tolerate the scents they left in their wake...

"A nation has declared slavery illegal," the aide informed him, as though he should be interested.

Burntfur merely snorted with a dismissive wave of his hand, and turned back to gaze at the flames. "Again? I have no interest in the petty wars of the outsiders. Return to me when you have some news of worth."

"But sir," the aide protested. Burntfur felt his neck fur stand on end in irritation as the aide continued to speak to him. "The bald one known as Damien the Destroyer made the proclamation."

Burntfur looked up a little in curiosity. Of all the baldies out there, that one was of particular interest to him. Perhaps the only one capable of actually delivering what he promised? The history of the baldy-dominated planet was entirely fuzzy to them before the end of Charrian isolationism, and recent history wasn't much clearer to them either, but the United Clans had chosen to associate themselves with the only baldy nations that had any semblance of honour or strength, and this Damien one was their ringleader. Despite never having met the man himself, Burntfur had a gut feeling about him that he couldn't quite put his claw on.

The proclamation would not affect the Charr in any way, of course. Humans had not exactly managed to earn much in the way of respect since their liberation from incarceration, but they certainly did not belong to anybody. The status of feral Charrian bitches was certainly more questionable, but the natural order of things was neither the business nor a concern of outsiders.

Yet still, the concept of treating any being capable of self-respect and honour as property was distasteful, and humans of the outside world consistently managed to earn themselves a reputation of disgust and disdain in that regard. Many baldies had previously challenged the concept of enslaving honourable beings, but none had really accompanied their challenges with any suggestion of success. The United Clans tended to ignore them all, and left them to sort out their own affairs, provided that the same courtesy was afforded to them. Their annual civil wars and their own internal problems kept them perfectly busy.

But this was the first time Burntfur believed that a challenge of this nature was backed by the potential for success. Already, at least one of the dishonoured baldy nations had capitulated before swords had even clashed, and with that in mind it seemed likely that more would follow. He felt compelled to lend his name to the cause.

Fiery as the gods, Damien the Destroyer stands tall as the brightest moral beacon of the human race. As his voice of honour and truth bellows loudly across the lands, know that the ferocious and insatiable roars of the Charr accompany it in a show of solidarity, to drown out all cries of opposition. We stand by the side of our ally on this issue.

His words are not a challenge, nor a suggestion, nor a prediction of things to come. They are a statement of fact. Slave trading is over. And really, no more words need to be uttered.

The Government of Kahanistan hopes that Dreadfire will undo some of the damage done to his international reputation by purging the world of the vile menace of slavery.

We have suffered and been displaced for our opposition to slavery, taking devastating losses in our wars with the barbaric slaver states of Doomingsland and the Kraven Corporation, and hope to secure a role for ourselves in the eradication of this pestilence.

We do hope that in the invasions the Freeks and their allies undertake against these oppressive regimes, measures are taken to prevent the killing of the slaves the world wishes to free.

The news of Dreadfires decree was all but unknown to Agies. He watched Dreadfire make his speech on the screens of his office. The Slave trade was he source of fresh recruits for his main service units. It was cheaper then cloning and the people where already conditioned for following orders. But Agies had no worries as to what Dreadfire had ever said. Agies never really cared much about anyone who voiced an opinion that was different then that of his own.

When news of Automagfreek's declaration reached the ears of Lord Kaerek, he did what any Mekantan would do when threatened, albeit indirectly, by a Terran ape. He began invisioning all the torments he would put this Damien the Destroyer through, everything he would do to break his spirit, his body, and his people.

... Mekantans never deal with feasibility during this stage of the anger process...

"<Of fleet being-mine to have-past, to exterminate!!>" He shouted in Mekantan, slamming his fist against a wall. A good old Neo-Mekantan Unification assault fleet would put this uppity ape in his place. But no, he had to lose everything when that insufferable nanite bitch destroyed everything he ever knew to serve, his power base as Fleet Lord of the Sol Fleet, and force him to hide out on this pathetic rock ruling over an island full of unevolved terrans!

The alien dictator was literally shaking with rage when he heard a knock on the door to his study, interupting his fantasies of seeing this Damien being forced to crawl on his knees through the streets on a leash. "<TO ENTER!!>" He barked, not caring what language he spoke.

"Sir? Does that mean 'enter' or should I leave you be?"

"ENTER!!"

Kaerek growled as Rhichard, his aide and one of the few humans who got by on a daily bases without managing to anger the dictator, scrambled into the room, holding a folder. "Overlord, I've gathered the tactical analysis data you requested. It... doesn't look good..."

Wordlessly, Kaerek snatched the folder from his aide's hands, skimmed through the information inside, and saw his day getting worse, and worse...

"TAKASSH'DA!!!" The obscenity echoed through his study as he tore the folder in half, slowly turning his head to look at Rhichard. "Telling me of why generals being so cowards?" He hissed in broken English, never having taken the time to properly learn the language when he could just relay his orders through apes who could translate.

"Sir, Automagfreek is one of the most powerfu-"

"BEING HUMANS!! APES!! STUPID, UNEVOLVED APES BEING!!"

"... Yes, sir, I know. You believe us humans stupid, but you forget, great Overlord, that your forces are themselves human..." Rhichard said, his heart racing as he once again took his life in his hands by telling the Overlord what he needed to hear. "There are also your subjects to worry about. You won't be able to... to..." He searched his mind for something to prod his lord to action with. "... You'll be forced to eat cows instead of people if your subjects are all dead."

... Mekantans hate the idea of thier meal not screaming before and during the cooking process...

"We have prisons... We have the death penalty. We have flexible laws."

Rhichard was silent, sighing. "We keep quiet, and hope Automagfreek doesn't notice?"

"No. Being show signs of ending slave trade..." A twisted smile crossed Kaerek's face as he looked out the window over the primative skyscrapers of his capital city. "Informing slave suppliers in city. What is term... head start of three days."

"... You're going to hunt and kill your own slave providers, aren't you?"

Kaerek slowly shook his head, his grin broadening. "Having gift for Automagfreek's ape Damien. What is word...? Irony..."

Rhichard just sighed. Nothing good could come of potentially provoking a nation as massive as Automagfreek... At least he could censor parts of the Overlord's message under the guise of correcting his language.

"Making be ready defenses. Sea. Sky. Orbit. Making ready if foolish ape send armies against me..."

The nation of Zackaroth would to know where AMF stands on the forced work of violent criminals. We feel we have asked this question a billon times but we prefer not to be confused with the slave mongering nation who enslave anyone. In Zackaroth we enslave only those who have commited violent and terrible crimes against there fellow. Surely you must agree a man who kills, rapes, and etc has no honor at all? And its not a profitable trade bussniess for us since most nations do not want them. We hope you do not count this as actual slavery.

The sound of the unloading freighters and Izistani (with some Doomani advisor's) echoed off the rocky shore of the island. Originally Northwind Island was just host to the eponymous aerospace base; but recent orders from high up in the Imperial military hierarchy, which some said came from the Imperator himself, had changed that. Now it would play host to the training grounds of the Janissaries.

Granted, to the eyes of satellites and other strategic reconnaissance systems, this was merely another transaction between the Doomani's and their customers, but this wasn't exactly the case here. Military units of slaves had never been noted for their élan under fire, but this could be rectified. Take a male slave offered for sale by the Doomani, a person with a completely miserable existence, now give that man a chance for a way out; citizenship, and rights. All you ask in return is that he take up arms in the name of your nation and leader (who started the whole project) and serve with complete loyalty. Not every slave would accept the offer, but those who did would have nationalistic feelings instilled in them, but a sense of loyalty and duty towards the leader. And thus you'd have a fighting force on par with a foreign legion, and yet more politically reliable. Exactly what you'd want in elite household troops.

But to the eyes of foreign intelligence services, this merely looked like anther transaction between your typical cruel slavers and another nation seeking cheap labour. After all, it wasn't like the Izistani were about to let everyone know that they planned on deploying Janissaries now was it?

The nation of Automagfreek does not rule the world and therefore no one is obliged to listen to the decrees of Lord Damien the Destroyer. However repugnant the issue of slavery may be, each nation that practices it is a sovereign nation and is entitled to have their sovereignty respected.

We find it ironic that the nation of Automagfreek would even champion the anti-slavery movement, considering its own well-documented past of torture, rape, pillage, and destruction of other nations. So far, the only defense that Dreadfire offers to justify these practices is they "deserve it". To use that defense, perhaps nations that do practice slavery find it as the best possible solution within their own cultural context. In other words, those that are slaves "deserve it." Besides, each sovereign nation may have their own definition of what a slave actually is. For example, in the state of Vrak, a violent criminal is stripped of their rights and forced to work hard labour in prison. Is this person considered a slave? According to whatever definition one may subscribe to, the person in question may or may not be a slave.

By making this decree, the nation of Automagfreek and its blind followers seek to exert their own moral agenda on others. We believe that each nation ought to seek their own place within the universe and that issues such as slavery should be resolved by more forward-thinking and longer-lasting measures than by mere brute force.

To all nations of the world, we encourage you to stand on your own principles and not be cowed by threats from Damien Dreadfire.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Esteemed Delegations of the International Community,

The Union of Southeast Asian Nations, under its obligations in the New Alliance Treaty Organization and the Empire of Eternity, stand by the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek in its noble cause to help counter slave-trading across the global community. The same shall apply to allied states of the Excessively Armed Empire like the Free Lands of Pantera and the United Clans of the Charr.

However, should they choose not to accept our offer of direct assistance and believe that they can succeed in their objectives, so be it. However, the option shall always be on the table. It is indeed sad to witness such an ugly head as slavery be present even in today's times, and we would prefer a diplomatic solution and trade sanctions to help persaude countries which practice the said activity to end, but regardless, the Union will not abandon its allies in their objectives and causes.

I find it most unusual that the officials from Vrak would spew such a heated statement our way, considering the neutral/friendly relations and respective admiration our regions have shared. You are too quick to cite our past and our cleansing of the heathens, and in doing so you fail to realize that Automagfreek in recent time has shown itself to be the champion of the light, a pillar of justice and righteousness in this uncertain world. Perhaps it is jealousy you harbor because we are a nation of action, and do not waste time with politics when they have either run their course or simply prove to be a waste of time.

The nations of the world could learn much from Automagfreek and from the justice we deliver the evil doers of this world. The vile slave traders shall be no exception, and I'm afraid the definition of slavery is quite clear. Stripping the rights of those who have taken away or infringed the rights of others and forcing them to work and repay the state does not constitute slavery by our definition, nor do we believe it fits the definition of slavery by any nation's standards. Such would be the case with Zackaroth, as we do not believe that their treatment of criminals constitutes a slave trade. Slavery is willingly oppressing innocent peoples and forcing them into labor or service without their consent, and trafficking them for profit or trade constitues a slave trade.

I also find it odd that Vrak would openly oppose our condemnation of this widespread, vile slave trade. It would stand to reason that Vrak's oppostion to our decree is proof of their support of the slave trade, which is definately one of the last things we would have expected. If Vrak values itself among the free and just nations of the world, then perhaps some support for a righteous cause would serve your government well. Citing our past as an attempt to discredit our valliant crusade against slavery (which we have lead many times before alongside our allies Pantera) only shows unfair bias and ignorace to the AMF of today.

Moving along, I am most pleased to see the government of Red Tide2 abandon their slaver ways and embrace the light. Our nation looks forward to cooperating alongside yours, and may an era of prosperity be upon you.

To Prime Minister Krystal Kane, we look forward to working alongside you and your coalition to dissolve the slave trade. However, we believe that action is legitimate in cases such as this, because spoken words and lessons in the history books will not serve us anymore. The time for resolve is here, and we will lead the charge. Continue to fight the good fight.

We thank the people of AMF to realize the contrast between slavery and making criminals pay for there crime. We believe the slavery is a stain upon the human race and represents our most basic and horrible human nature. Like the other nations before us we are willing to help AMF, if it should need it which we doubt it will, in any way possible. Whether it be with military force or something of the like.

The quick response from AMF was unexpected but how they decided to spin the words to fit their own logic was not. The officials in the Ministry of Rites poured over the latest missive and decided that a response was in order.

We respect the sovereignty of other nations which means we support a nation's right for self-determination. Our international record is quite clear in that regard. We are a free and just nation because, quite simply, we do not threaten others that have a different point of view or have different practices of justice or culture. As well, we certainly do not harbour any jealousy towards the nation of Automagfreek and do not seek to imitate you. After all, we are quite content with our reputation in the international arena.

You, Lord Dreadfire, seek to link our opposition to your decree as though we support the slave trade. We have our own thoughts on the matter but again, we turn to our international record. Let your researchers, if they can, find where Vrak has ever supported slavery.

As well, while you may try to cloak your past in the robe of righteousness, those of us who remember your history do find it ironic that you take the issue of slavery to heart and seek to oppose it vigourously. We would like to ask you and those others in the international community, just who decided to make you judge, jury and executioner? Who decided to, for lack of a more apt metaphor, let you be the cop of the world? Vrak does not remember granting the nation of Automagfreek such powers. We believe that you are falling into the trap that all so-called "righteous" nations, such as the Drakonian Imperium, make, which is they seek to spout moral platitudes about how right their cause is and then seek to impose their will upon others in the guise of righteousness. How is that any different than a nation that practices slave trading? That is, forcing them to change their ways else face invasion. How noble you are. As well, when you speak of justice, we can only think of your Halls of the Dead. If that is your concept of justice, then Vrak shall have no part in that.

Slavery, like all issues, can be better addressed by other means instead of war. However, we believe that in your pursuit (and that of your "righteous" followers) of "justice" and "moral indignation" against slavers you fail to see better long-term solutions.

As for the other nations, we are dismayed but yet not suprised at the lack of backbone that you demonstrate. Is it so hard for you to actually stand up for yourselves instead of cowering and snivelling like a dog? Apparently, testicular fortitude is lacking in this day and age.

The Grand Imperium of Whyatica does not specifically prohibit slavery, and we will not bend down to Damien Dreadfire demanding I ban slavery just because he says so. Damien Dreadfire does not rule Whyatica, I do, and as long as I remain sovereign, I will not bend. The Whyatican Empire as a whole does not practice slavery, but it is not banned.

I oppose Damien Dreadfire's attempt to bend all other nations to his will based on a bizarre moral compass - All countries have the right to self-determination, which is a concept that Dreadfire may not understand. He may also not understand that by waving his arms and declaring that the slave trade is over, does not in fact end slavery.

I also look down upon all nations that summarily bent to Dreadfire's will -- Are you puppets? Do you jump when Dreadfire says 'jump'? Gain a spine, allow your foreign policy to be dictated by yourself, not Dreadfire and his bullying.

Whether you follow the dialectical materialist philosophy of Marx or not (as I do not, although my employer General Secretary Carolinus Horridus does and I respect his right to), slavery is indisputably obsolete as anything other than a token of underlying sadism in the societies responsible. Therefore, you have our moral support for your declaration, which already seems to be having some effect among the most dishonorable slavers of all. And rest assured, we do not besmirch that which is effective, by any means. We do not appreciate Damien Dreadfire's attempts to bully the nations of the world into doing things his way, even Automagfreek does not rule this world and I believe it is an infringement of national sovereignty to invade a nation merely because they keep slaves.
For instance, where does one draw the line?
What if one being a slave actually places them above other members of society? What if as a slave they are still treating fairly?
Technically these men and women are still owned by their owners and subject to their authority, however these slaves may not necessarily have a bad lot in life.
I can understand that Automagfreeks statements are not so all-encompassing as this, but others who agree with you may take it so.
The nation of Uldarious and I can indeed see that the government of Automagfreek's statements only refer to the sort of barbaric slavery in which innocents are forced to labour for another's gain, but we still can not support the extreme actions taken by the Freekish government and we appeal to the international community to stop this before it begins.
I suggest a much more specific plan be formed that deals with each case on a singular matter.
Of course we of Uldarious hold no illusions about our strength and influence, both of which are significantly smaller than that of Automagfreek, we just hope that this incident does not spark a avalanche of conflict.

Hotdogs2, being a nation who believes in the freedom of human beings and their civil rights in particular, applauds any peaceful attempt to stop slave trading from occurring. However, Hotdogs2 does not like the idea of a nation such as AMF from enforcing such a world ban, due to their rather poor record on previous warfare carried out by their nation. Whilst this is a noble cause we wish to urge Lord Dreadfire to ensure that peaceful talks take place first, even if it is by third party. We also wish to ensure that any invasions that do have to take place are carried out so as to ensure that civilians and slaves are kept from harm as much as possible, whilst we realise that damage to infrastructure will always occur in war it is not something that we wish to occur.

This is where the Slave Union comes in.

Arrange the purchase of criminals that would no longer see fit to live or carry on an existance they are sold to another nation for government use. This is not a profitable market as the costs of housing, transporting, feeding and making sure the horrible murderers and other criminals are kept happy as they repay their debts.

For this purpose I have listed the 6049 transferred criminals we have recieved from Llanoran and have given you a disk (or if you prefer papers) of all the legal work of their transaction, willful signing over to Eralineta's national hands, their movement papers to another state, the reassignment of their death sentances or life imprisonments, the housing papers, the bills of their upkeep and costs of living. Also I have included papers of their work environment and the background as well as plenty of information on a daily basis as to what each of the 6049 transferred criminals have been doing in their daily tasks since transfer.

If you do not believe several million documents we have also photos of the documents, photos of the prisoners and them in their natural work environment actually enjoying their work because it is the same kind of work that citizens perform and we treat them better then they were treated in their nation. Our transferred criminals are infact happy to be in Eralineta as they are able to continue a natural life and see the light of day. What has been done is more humanitarian work towards the lowest of all scum and those doomed to death have been spared for the price of holding jobs and working under the state.

Do not go to war over transferred criminals from a nation who has freed them from their burden by selling them to another nation so they may repay their debts and be under the watchful and caring eye of a nation that welcomes them with a good home and stable job.

An Open Letter to Lord Damien Dreadfire

We of the Armed Republic must first commend the so-called Lord of Automagfreek, Damien Dreadfire for recognizing that the proper fate for rapists, murders, traitors and the seditious is a lifetime of purifying toil ended by the bullet of an honorable soldier. We must however, disagree with Mr. Dreadfire on ending the so-called enslavement of “innocents.”

Surely, Mr. Dreadfire knows that there is no innocence, only degrees of guilt better than anyone else. If this is the conscious of a troubled soul attempting to make right past wrongs, then it is a corrupted one indeed, but hopefully it will allow the guilted to sleep better at night. Surely the wholesale genocide of a race would sweep away the white with the black, and is that not a worse fate than forced labor?

We must further disagree with a wholesale declaration of war on slavery; he who is without honor cannot have it taken away from him, and you seem to agree with this. Afterall, one man’s slave may be another man’s convict. Am I to assume that this declaration of war on slavery is not just against private citizens, but against goverments enlisting the services of the condemned? You offer the solution of conscription, but if men cannot be expected to serve their fellow nationals with respect, why would any sane man arm them?

What is next? Orders to close the Sanguinariums so that prisoners may die in a less horrific way? Demanding rights for the condemned? Our nation is undergoing a communist rebellion, and we fully intend to apprehend the traitors to our glorious republic. We have recently discovered, mainly thanks to our Anti-Slavery colleagues, that the nation of Eralineta is in the habit of claiming to be a member of the Alliance. This angers us - regardless of their semantics about convicted criminals, the nation still is involved in the trading of slaves, and as such their membership of the Anti-Slavery Alliance is a living contradiction. If an Eralinetan delegate dares to attend to the ASA Conference being held in Kryozerkia, they would do well to know that the security related to our own Minister for Social Welfare Sarah Roberts, has been instructed to shoot on sight.

Do what you like to police the high seas - however, we warn you, that any attacks made on any ship flying His Majesty's Ensign will be considered an act of war. Again I find myself utterly perplexed by the threats of Lord Dreadfire; whilst before he lashed out at the former organization known as APOC due to an imagined threat that he felt was directed at his Empire, he now goes so far as to challenge the very God-given rights afforded to Imperial citizens. I must say, I find this quite funny, that two nations that have been of late, and through their history, quite interventionist have been openly denouncing the same practice which they have been insinuating, oh my! Now, I must be one to wonder, what is the cause behind the change of heart? Could it just be some usual anti-gholgoth and anti-GASN rhetoric that has been spewed out of the same ugly gargoyle head as before? Let’s take a quick look at a relatively recent event, shall we?

A while back, our dear good friends in the Sovereign League, lead by one of Illior’s, Automagfreek’s and Gholgoth’s most vociferous critics, Imperial Whyatica, decided to take it upon themselves to intervene in a nation, Eurasia (formerly known as British Londinium), for a gross breach of basic human rights. Jumping in line right behind him were several other Sovereign League members, namely Clandonia Prime (another outspoken critic of this new interventionist policy. A quick recap of events, the Whyatican led coalition went into Eurasia, deposed of the governing tyrant and replaced him, and then certain coalition forces (Whyatican, Clandonian, and Praetonian namely) put down several rebellions which were partaken in the interest of reviving the sovereignty of Eurasia. Contradictory, no? Again, it begs the question, why the change of heart? Why did such a staunch believer in human rights suddenly become this bastion for slavery?

While not officially “condoning” slavery, Whyatica in practice is allowing the spread and continuance of the trade of human life. Again, it’s not an “official” practice, but more of one by negligence. By neglecting to stop the slave trade in Whyatica, Whyatica is actively partaking in the continuation of this heinous practice, allowing human lives to be bought and sold as a commodity, like livestock and beasts of burden. Whyatica, by the negligent sanctioning of this process, is allowing human beings, someone that could be a brother or a mother, to be degenerated into animals. They take away what makes humans human, free will, the basis upon which national sovereignty is founded.

Then there’s our other dear friend that’s decided to come in and join the “Criticize Gholgoth at every turn bandwagon!” Clandonia Prime. Clandonia Prime, as mentioned above, partook in the “human rights” action in Eurasia. That same type of action that Automagfreek and its allies are taking has now been called “Imperialistic.” So, my dear Mr. Sistlin, are you saying that your country has an Imperialistic past as well? Well now, an imperialist preaching sovereignty, god I feel like I’m at a university in 1984, contradictions and hypocrisies galore! As well, you say that the methods of doing what is necessary to give basic human rights to all human beings are paradoxical? Would you like me to point out your specific methods of having tanks fire into buildings that could be housing innocent civilians?

A facade if I've ever seen one, "Emperor" Black. Strange how your criminals who are sentenced to death aren't simply put to death, as their judgement indicates. You made no mention of these criminals being sentenced to slavery or forced labor, so it is there that your argument for your slave trading ways disappears.

Your attempts to sugar coat and disguise slave trading into a tool of justice will not work here. Your expensive trials and due process do not change the fact that you are trafficking human beings, and as I stated before if they are death row convicts, then they need to be executed as their sentence implies. And if your system is so just and wise, why do you ship your criminals off to some foreign land to work or receive them to do the same?

Common sense would dictate that the justice system that sentenced them would be the ones to carry out their judgement, in the form of imprisonment and resocilization, or death for the more vile degenerates. Nations that see this practice as legitimate will be blinded into thinking that all trades in this manner are simply criminals, and a front clearly exists where innocents can be traded away without suspicion.

Meanwhile, the fleets of Task Force Dreadfire prepared themselves for immediate deployment to Doomingsland, where the first of many coming battles in the war on slave trading would take place. A smaller token force was being assembled under the leadership of Vidimir Breathstealer, hero of the Kraven Wars and one of Lord Dreadfire's favored Warchiefs. Also under the Warlord's command would be his usual array of other Warchiefs, Zander the fierce, Brinks the wise, and Azrael the great.

While a war with Doomingsland certainly would not be the greatest challenge Damien had ever faced, it would definately be the largest fight in recent years. Perhaps one of the largest contingents of Freekish military units were placed on standby, either to act as reinforcements or to defend the homeland should anyone be foolish enough to attempt an invasion. In the north, the Sentinel legions took to their ships and began preparing themselves for war. Silently they boarded their ships, only erupting into riotous praise as they cheered the arrival of their champion commanders.

In the south, the tribes of the Fallen began moving eastward towards the great port cities, where they too would join the fight. Azrael's famed 406th Legion had been one of the most successful military units in Automagfreek's history, and males from across the southern Fallen territories answered the call to battle. The women had turned out in their finest garb to wish their warriors farewell, their hardned nature nearly matching that of their male counterparts as they kissed them goodbye with dry eyes.

The Freeks would do their part in this conflict as well, deploying in numbers that had not been seen since the rule of President Tom Kaye. The anti-slavery cause had always been widely supported within Automagfreek, and following the inflammatory comments from Darian Aurelius, they rose up in droves to defend their honor. Under Lord Damien the Freeks had enjoyed progress until anything anywhere else in the world, and though their Warlord was capable of terrible things, he had never treated his faithful and loyal citizens poorly. On this day they would show their support for Damien and the anti-slavery cause, and unity and moral flowed throughout the lands of Automagfreek like a great river.

On behalf of my government, the people, and the president of The Republic of Groznyj, I find it perplexing to say the least that a nation, nay, a leader such as Lord Damien Dreadfire would make such a bold proclamation. We have never engaged in any political or military actions with your empire and so we do not know your reasoning behind this new move given what has been written in the history books which all seem to be so well versed in. In reflecting the views of those I represent and stand for, we Groznians feel that slavery is above all an abomination, a smear on the fabric of mankind. In Groznyj liberty and freedom are held sacrosanct. Every man and woman is a person unto themselves and an individual. My country has come a long way since the deportation of our peoples to Kazakhstan under the sickening rule of Stalin and its repeated attempts at independence. However we do not beleive that slavery should be, or can be, ended in one swift and bloody revolution. The Slave trade within our nation is limited to those who where placed into it by court order or by lossing their honor in a duel in which they lost and begged for mercy. OOC: The short version: Arsenal ships are large, yet cheap ships that carry a minimal crew and fire huge amounts of missile ordiance on to an enemy position. The missiles per ship number to about 800 missiles. The missiles are fired into the air in which they will reach the egde of the atmosphere over the enemy position then turn striaght down and land atop of the enemy. Quite effective I must say.

So who are you giving these to? I would think giving them to the biggest nation of those you plan to aid, like TBA.

As a response to the AMF move into Doomingsland, the top brass had ordered a public show of support in deploying in the 31st Battalion to supplant the sizable force already en route. It was, however, a move that simultaneously confused and irritated many of the men doing the actual fighting.

"I'm just saying, we might have the same goals and all, but the Freeks are big enough and strong enough to take care of their own business."

"That's not the point here, though, this is a show of support. If we help them out there, they'll be more inclined to join us in return."

"Oh, sure. Banking on the word of a self-proclaimed maniac. Anyone else think we've lined up behind the wrong horse?"

Names aren't really necessary for this conversation because it was being duplicated all across the fleet of ships; it seemed that this was one of the few rare issues that managed to split opinion right down the middle, and it wasn't something based in political stance either. Fascist or communist, everyone had an opinion on the matter, and debating about it was a good way to relieve the tension of what was likely to be a very dangerous mission - it may have been a pointless debate, as none of the men fighting here were likely to ever be in a position wherein they could change decisions, but it passed the time if nothing else.

Up on the bow of a destroyer providing support for the troop ships, it was more surprising to see the same conversation duplicated, particularly as Commodore Briere was both against the deployment of troops and in a position where he could have changed the orders.

"The Freeks are huge, they're a lot bigger than us and they have a reputation for being violent, bloodthirsty and prepared to go to war at the drop of a hat."

Petty Officer Stafford couldn't hide a smile. "So...they're just like us, then."

"Ye-no! No, we don't go to war that easily!"

"We certainly threaten to. Hell, I'd guess that within a month we'll probably be involved in wars in every member of the Union; I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it is a sign we're plenty violent. To deny that would be to deny who we are."

The Commodore turned and looked Stafford in the eye. "Go back to work, and stop bothering me."

"Score one for me," muttered Stafford as he walked away. The Commodore was notoriously easy to rile if you knew which buttons to press, but sometimes even good use of logic was enough.

In accordance with the founding principles of the League, all people are held to have possession over their own persons. The League does, therefore, heartily support in principle the elimination of slavery, as an undoubted evil that besets mankind, by reasonable means. The memberstates of the League have historically adhered to the principle of individual rights, liberties and sovereignty. Indeed, it is for the defence of those principles that the League was formed, and from which the League derives its title.

The League is pleased and encouraged by the manner in which Automagfreek and Pantera have adopted its rhetoric of liberty with regard to their own affairs.

The League is, however, saddened by the continued abuse of the rights of the people of Automagfreek and Pantera themselves, and the continued illegitimacy of their feudal hierarchies. In Automagfreek today, soldiers are bred, owned and disposed of on the whim of leaders set over them on the sole basis of possessing dominant military force. The income of the subjects of the Dreadfire Monarchy is seized in its entirety by the state. Individuals work not for themselves, but for their all-powerful government, upon which they depend utterly for their continued survival. This is slavery in all but name.

The League finds it impossible to support a country's aim of eliminating enslavement to individuals only for it to be replaced by the even more terrifying prospect of enslavement to an omnipotent state.

Until such time as conditions in Automagfreek and Pantera improve to the level where government is elected, citizens are able to retain at least part of their own incomes and criminal punishment can take place only following a free and fair trial before a jury, the League is forced to accept that the greater probability is that the actions of Automagfreek and Pantera are directed to a greater degree at the expansion of their own power than at eliminating oppression they condemn but do not eliminate within their own borders. No other explanation can account for such vast disparity in which these countries prosecute their internal and external affairs.

The League condemns also the extent to which Automagfreek has stated an intention to carry out unnecessary violence, going so far as to warn the people of Strator that in an Automagfreek 'liberation' they would be killed unless they fled their country. Such savagery directed against innocents is in no way necessary to eliminate one policy of the government, even by invasion.

The League sincerely hopes that Automagfreek and Pantera are genuine in their concern, that they shall break down the shackles of oppression within their own countries, that they shall open up trade to flow freely between their isolated enclaves and the Free World and that they shall do the world service.

Until this is forthcoming, the League will guard its borders and its interests with increased vigilance.

OOC: The man doth need recognition, he started to bully the slave traders quite early on, he was the first to REALLY bully. Previous bully nations allowed it but not so much cruelty was to be involved in trading or made big threats.

Hotdogs2 wholeheartedly agrees with the decree by The Sovereign League. Whilst slavery must be stopped, for which we have no doubt about, it also relies upon nations using peaceful means to engage and combat slavery, rather than through warfare on such a large scale. Only after all possible solutions have been exhausted should warfare ever become an option, and it should never be carried out by those who themselves use a form of slavery to power their armies.

We therefore condemn any actions taken without prior thought and care, and advise all nations to be calm and consider their actions as warfare of such a kind may well involve other nations and lead to a nation acting a completely and utterly destructive manner such as using WMD's to protect their nation from genocide on an unheard of scale.

The sun was beginning to set in the capital, faint and weakening rays of light flickering along the sides of buildings, millions of panes of glass reflecting the light in a visual pantheon; this was what had led to many commentators and visitors to call it 'The City Of Ten Thousand Sunrises'. The sunlight hit the windows of the thousands of skyscrapers that formed the heart of Dowland City, momentarily lighting up much of the city and turning dusk into day again. As usual, this meant that the traffic proceeding along the motorways that threaded through the city like metallic reptiles had to slow down to a crawl; this created a tailback for more than a dozen miles that would delay traffic for several hours.

It would delay the average citizen of the city, but for some such traffic restrictions could not be allowed to get in the way of government business, especially at such a critical time for the nation. Noting the traffic delays throughout the city, the small convoy of vehicles that transferred King Alexander I, Monarch of Skinny87 and Her Colonies, turned from a main street and pulled into a deserted car park. From the rear two SUVs jumped several Secret Service Agents, who proceeded to install a portable barrier in the entrance to the car park, blocking it off from the public. Simultaneously, Agents appeared from the front two vehicles and began pushing vehicles away from the centre of the area, creating a space large enough for a helicopter to land in.

Less than five minutes later, as the Agents took up positions around the perimeter of the car park, there came the muted chattering of the blades of a helicopter in the distance. The sound rapidly reached a crescendo, and from behind a Skyscraper that was still reflecting sunlight came the form of SeaHawk Two, the Presidential Helicopter. Smaller than SeaHawk One, which was a reconditioned Mi-8, SeaHawk Two was for intra-nation transport, ideal for emergency situation such as this. The helicopter hovered a few metres from the tarmac of the car park, pilot keeping a tight grip on the controls to keep the aircraft stable.

With the rotors from the helicopter whipping up a fierce wind that swept dust and grit through the air and into the eyes of anyone unable to shield their eyes, the Limousine in the middle of the convoy turned off its engine, and the rear door opened. From out of the heavily-armoured vehicle stepped the King himself; dressed in a plain grey business suit, with a conservative black tie, he looked little different from the thousands of other businessmen that travelled through the city every day of the year. Alexander threw one arm around his eyes and leaned forward as he made his way to the Helicopter. Accepting the arm of a Secret Service Agent leaning from the helicopter, Alexander scrambled into the aircraft and made himself comfortable, buckling himself in safely. This done, the pilot increased the power to the throttle and raised the helicopter into the air, rapidly leaving the car park and grit-covered vehicles behind.

Once above the glittering sea of light that was Dowland City, the helicopter went to Full Military Power, the pilot pushing it to the limits of its design to get the King to Parliament House. Inside the helicopter the King had donned a pair of thick headphones to block out the noise of rotors, but had done nothing else. He stared out of the open door of the helicopter, feeling the wing on his face and gazing at the scenery that flashed by, but said nothing, even uncharacteristically ignoring the comments of the crew. At any other time, Alexander would enjoy talking with the men and women of the helicopter, as he had many times before; a former soldier, he knew the value of even the most mindless of chatter. But now he said nothing, ignoring the comments of the crew, who quickly realised that today was no ordinary situation.

The flight to Parliament House was uneventful, taking a little less than the average thirty minutes thanks to a headwind. Landing on the roof of the majestic building, Alexander unclipped himself and handed the headset to a crew member, before climbing onto the roof and heading for a doorway that led into the building. He took the stairs quickly, two at a time, forcing the Agents preceding him to move at a rapid pace to avoid being knocked over. Alexander reached the Twelfth Level and his Inner Office two minutes later, walking past the staffers who were moving through the carpeted corridors, saying nothing until he reached the Inner Office.

He closed the doors, scraping them against the thick carpet, then walked over to his desk. He stood for a moment, looking at the scenery through the bay windows that had been installed at the end of the long, narrow office. His fingers tapped against the desk in rapid succession, a sign that Alexander was worried; he had picked up the habit in the trenches of the Civil War, and it had stayed with him throughout his reign. Finally, he sat down at the desk, reclining slightly in the oak chair that had recently been installed; it had been a gift from Praetonia as a sign of close links between their two countries. Alexander grunted as he tapped at the thick oaken arms of the chair; the Sovereign League was a powerful alliance, but this present situation might be the ultimate test for it.

He scowled and opened a draw of the desk, pulling out a carafe of clear liquid and a thick glass, decorated with the Questarian seal of state. He raised the glass to the fading light, watching the rays hit the intricately-decorated glass and create a thousand refractions. Lowering the glass, he poured a healthy dose of the liquid into the glass and swallowed it whole, grunting in appreciation. He poured himself another glass and sipped this more slowly, calming himself. He always felt better after a glass or two of this; he knew many head of states that drank alcohol, but to him a glass of fresh mineral water was far more healthy and rewarding.

He was about to pour another glass when there came a knock at the doors of the Office; putting the glass down and getting another out of the top draw of the desk, Alexander called for the doors to be opened. They swung open to admit Paul Henderson, Secretary Of Defence and Alexander's closest advisor and friend. Tall and graceful, with a head of black hair that was just beginning to gray around the fringe, Henderson had one of the perpetual smiles on his face that allowed him to so often charm those around him. Taking the seat opposite Alexander, Henderson nodded when Alexander motioned to the carafe of water. Waiting until the King had poured him a measure of the liquid, Henderson then placed the thin manilla folder that he had been carrying on the desk.

"This is the latest from the AutoMagFreek situation, Alex. The initial transcript, the various public responses to Dreadfire's demands, and the Sovereign League statement from Praetonia."

Alexander picked up the folder and flicked through it; he had seen the initial statement and the various sycophantic or angry responses from the other nations involved, but the Praetonian statement was new to him. Unfolding the thick and creamy paper that so often seemed to hold Praetonian statements, Alexander skimmed the short but to the point statement. He grunted several times, then placed it in the folder. He was about to hand it back when he noticed a small piece of paper; pulling it out, he read it and laughed, then handed it all back to Henderson.

"I see Allanea is once again trying to get more currency by selling off their vast amounts of military hardware. I know we're allies now, but I still find it amusing that they're all but bankrupt."

Henderson smiled at the comment, allowing himself a moment of levity in an otherwise serious situation.

"Yes, it is rather amusing, isn't it? I mean, they're rebuilding and all, but it'll take a while. And we have a substantial investment in them now. Who would have thought, eh? A decade ago, we were ready to see mushroom clouds over Liberty City, but now we're investing trillions into them and have some of their industry practically as our own."

The two men smiled, reflecting on the irony of the situation. Unfortunately, the moment of lightness was soon crushed by the predicament AMF had created with its statement against slavery. Alexander was the first to speak, rapping his fingers along the smooth surface of the desk.

"It's been years since Dreadfire actually decided to do anything that required action; I thought his style would forever remain those amusing little public messages, calling everyone 'savages' and 'imperialists'. But now it would appear that AMF is going to war with Doomingsland. Our two greatest enemies, about to tear each other apart. So, why aren't I celebrating and holding a ticker-tape parade?"

Henderson nodded, a frown appearing on his face. "Perhaps because you and I both know that this will be a fight that the world hasn't seen in a very long time, not even since the Havenic-Circum conflict. And whoever wins, however bloody and battered they are, will be a danger to the Grand Monarchy, and the rest of Haven. Especially the Sovereign League. If Doomingsland wins, they'll be fired up with enough religious extremism to think they can take on the whole world after defeating Dreadfire and his automatons. And if Dreadfire wins, his new policy of imperialism and interventionism will let him think he can take anyone on, and probably win."

Nodding at this succinct summary of their problems, Alexander linked his fingers together and looked pensive, brow furrowed as he began thinking. "We cannot do anything on our own; we aren't powerful enough to try and stop this war, or to make any appreciable effect if we support either side. Which we wouldn't. Only the League itself would do something, be it economic, political or, God help us, militarily. As such, I want the Ambassadors from Praetonia and Questers to report to me within twenty-four hours. We must be ready for all eventualities."

Henderson nodded, and with this the two moved to other matters of state business. But the wheels had been put into motion, and messages would soon be transmitted to the Praetonian and Questarian Embassies in Dowland City that a meeting was required with the King; what the meeting would be about, and what its results would be, were something that no-one could possibly know.

Minister of Defense General Nora Kasagawa sat in her office, poring over papers regarding AMF's latest military movements. She had been the commander of the defending forces when AMF had shelled the coastal city of Al-Bahr in the war roughly two years ago, and now there were voices in the Senate pushing for support of AMF.

"Put the Navy on standby, try to get ahold of some more arsenal ships. Find out what happened to that shipment of aid we were supposed to get from Whyatica, we need it to keep our economy afloat while we recover."

General Tiberius Devidius, director of Military Intelligence, shook his head. "The aid should be coming soon. But why are we risking our necks to fight where AMF doesn't need the support?"

"We aren't necessarily going to do so..." said Kasagawa. "But the Senate is likely to support anything that's hostile to Doomingsland. I personally am opposed, the Freeks will butcher the civilians and slavers alike."

"What do you think the odds are that the Freeks will hit the Negev?" asked Devidius. Kahanistan had been in the Negev until Doomingsland had invaded and occupied it, at which time some 600 million had fled to Haven to create a new state.

"Low, and not something I'm in favor of," replied the Defense Minister. "They're more likely to attack Urbs Doomanus directly if it comes to that. I'll ask the Foreign Ministry to allow Doomani and Stratorian civilians to flee to Kahanistan without interference. We do need some labor to build more homes and the like."

"And even more homes to take care of the immigrants, who would have moved out of their homes to come here."

"I'm sure the average poor Doomani would like to have a minimum wage for the first time in their life," said Kasagawa. "More labor, more homes, more population, more diversity..." She began typing an e-mail to the Foreign Minister.

First, let me say that the Government of Kahanistan, while opposing slavery in all its forms, strongly opposes the Freekish Empire's means of eradicating this evil from the planet. While many of us would agree that slavers need to be killed horribly and made an example of to oppressors, the wholesale murder of civilians in general is not the way to go about this, and we know firsthand the Freekish method of warfare.

The news of the Freek deployment to the nation of Doomingsland had been broadcast wide over the television networks of the Republic and was watched intently throughout the nation as Aequatians just began to taste the coming conflict alongside their comrades from the "Old Empire" as it had been named by the newest generation of Aequatians. First Sergeant Anthony Simms, a company NCO for the 4th Special Combat Applications Regiment, or "Paras" as they had become more commonly known in the service, returned from one of the Delicious Vendables machines with a cold drink to the barracks common area where the rest of the company headquarters soldiers were watching a report on the Freek movements.

"We're going to fuckin' war!" Shouted one of the soldiers excitedly, followed by cheers from the others.

Simms took a seat in one of the card table chairs that had been moved over to the television set and opened the aluminium can with its tab, the beverage hissing quickly as the carbonation escaped before he started to drink it when the call came over the public address speaker, "Now hear this... Now hear this, all personnel from 4 SCAR are to report to their commanding officers for equipment assembly!" The message was repeated as the veteran sergeant finished his drink and tossed the empty can into a blue recycling box. The paratroopers moved quickly to the door as they headed off towards their respective barracks to collect their personal kits and weapons.

Cabinet War Rooms, Kingston

Deep beneath the neo-classical grandeur of the Houses of Parliament at the centre of Kingston, beneath metres and metres of earth, beneath two reinforced concrete plates each more than 15m thick, lay the top floor of a bunker. Wood pannelled in the same manner as the buildings above, it was indistinguishable from the internal corridors and passages of Parliament far above. Beneath this floor, a large steel armour plate and a few floors of offices, another two floors of Horse and Foot Guards' barracks, lay one of the best protected command centres in North Haven.

Inside the room in question there was a solid oak table, around which sat the Secretaries of State, the Chief of the Imperial General Staff and various Lord Lieutenants of the former colonies of the now unitary Commonwealth. At one end of the table was the Prime Minister, flanked by the Lord Chancellor, and at its head was King George IV.

Such meetings were rare. The last full sitting of the Privy Council had been when Midlonia and Whyatica were poised on the brink of hurling Haven into war. Before that, it had last been convened, somewhat belatedly, on Praetonian observation satellites picking up Nova Brittanican nuclear warheads headed towards the country. Now, the subject at hand was less pressing in terms of its immediate threat to the safety and integrity of the Crown Commonwealth, but nonetheless vital to the national interest. What was done now in Praetonia and in other countries would echo down the ages for some time to come, possibly even leading to a redrawing of the balanace of power from which the Crown Commonwealth and the Sovereign League would emerge worse than they entered.

"We have commanded you here to discuss the impending war between Automagfreek and Doomingsland," said the King, looking around at the assembled Council. "We are interested that the security of Our Realm should be maintained, but also that the influence of the aggregious Gholgoth bloc be reduced."

"Your Majesty," began the Secretary of State for War, "I believe that it would be in the best interests of the Realm to conduct a full mobilisation. Automagfreek has already mobilised, and the Questerian ambassador has indicated that Questerian mobilisation is imminent."

"That is also my opinion," declared the Prime Minister, "If Your Majesty pleases, full mobilisation may be ordered forthwith."

Of course, beneath the strange constitutional doublespeak, His Majesty had little choice but to take the Prime Minister's 'advice'.

"There is also the question of what is to be done about Doomingsland," continued the Prime Minister, "Your Majesty's Royal brother on the throne of Doomingsland would no doubt be pleased to hear that he has Your Majesty's support. I believe that it is in the greater interests of Your Majesty's Realm to have a strong and friendly Doomingsland than to have a strong and hotile Automagfreek."

The Secretary of State for War nodded. Others looked a little more skeptical.

"What of the question of slavery? It's true that Doomingsland continues this vile practise," noted the Secretary of State for Public Health, who liked to play 'devil's advocate' in all Cabinet meetings.

"In Automagfreek everyone is a slave of the state. An Automagfreek 'citizen' is a mere serf who must work only to see the produce of his labour disappear into the government machine. Are you seriously suggesting that a Doomingsland in which a minority of people are held as slaves is worse than a land in which every man, woman and child is a slave to the state? Doomingsland may be theocracy with some medieval qualities, but Automagfreek is full-blown pagan feudalism," responded the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Duke of Tamworth.

The Public Health Secretary bowed his head slightly. "Your Grace is eloquent as ever."

"Sir Tiberius is right," interupted the King, "My Royal brother in Doomingsland must have the support of this Realm. Not only is His State the lesser of the two evils, but it is also a friendly and powerful state. The utmost must be done to ensure that the Feudalists do not gain great international power."

"The Doomingslandis want ships, Your Majesty," said the Secretary of State for War.

"They want supercapitals," added the Prime Minister, "I believe we should give them whatever they need to defeat Automagfreek.

"This war is no longer about slavery, it is about the future of the world. It is vital that our friends and our closer idealogical compatriots triumph over the darkness of Automagfreek's feudal fascism."

A murmur of agreement spread across the table.

"Doomingsland has indicated they will accept two Iron Duke (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/IronDukeTechDiagram.png)-class supercapital warships on lease, with Praetonian crews and Doomingslandi Captains," said the Foreign Secretary, "In the circumstances, I feel this would be the best solution. The Doomingslandis do not have time to train up their own crews, and do not currently have the facilities to maintain these ships."

"It also allows us to maintain ultimately control, if the worse comes to the worst..." added the Secretary of State for War, bleakly.

"Yes. Well. Quite."

"How will the public take this?" Asked the Duke. "Doomingsland seems to be more popular than ever, especially after the royal wedding, but even so..." The Duke tailed off.

"Polling data suggests that Doomingsland is very popular, given its continued support for Praetonia following the break-up of APOC," began the Prime Minister, but was interupted by the Chancellor of the Exchequer throwing a copy of The Herald down onto the table. The headline read, "Empress Elizabeth issues Praetonian call to arms" and most of the front page was taken up by a picture of the Doomingslandi Empress Elizabeth, daughter of the late King Sarius and sister of the present King George, giving a speech to a crowd of Doomingslandis in that country's capital.

"Empress Elizabeth, who is married to Caesar Maximus III of Doomingsland and fifth in line to the throne of the Crown Commonwealth, called upon Praetonia to fulfill its 'pledge of allegiance' to Doomingsland, and highlighted similarities between the two countries, including extensive private freedoms and a passionate sense of national identity, which an Automagfreek invasion would 'place under threat in both countries'," read the Chancellor.

He turned to page 4, and read from a side box.

"A poll of 200,000 Praetonians indicated that 74% supported Elizabeth in her call for Praetonian support to be granted to Doomingsland, despite 97% of respondants saying that they would like to see the slave trade abolished in Doomingsland. 81% of respondants said they believed that the recent Automagfreek effort to abolish the slave trade was 'insincere'. 70% of respondants said that they would rather Praetonia support Doomingsland than Automagfreek, with 8% abstaining."

"I believe that we are agreed on these matters," said the King, standing up. The others sitting around the table quickly took to their feet also. "Good day, Your Grace, gentlemen. May providence deliver us from war."

Lord Dreadfire, the people of the European Islands share you stance against slavery. We think that all support the practice of slavery are scum, and that the practice should be abolished. We will gladly support you in this endeavor. Our military promise to send convoys of supplies to the frontline where your troops will be fighting. We will not, however, be engaging in the conflict. The alliance our nation is part of, the Anti-slavery Alliance, thinks that diplomacy is the right path to stop slavery. But that will not stop us from supplying your troops.

We only ask that you provide as mutual protection from slave trading nations. Several of these nations, such as the Black Agents, have threatened to attack us if we do not drop our stance on the issue and leave the Anti-Slavery Alliance. I hope that you'll agree to this proposal, Lord Dreadfire, and may our nations remain allies throughout the years.

Empress Lien I Larsen had a distinctly sour look on our face. It was all, in some manner or another, due to the impending war between AMF and Doomingsland. Not long ago the Imperium would have been more than happy to directly support AMF in such an endeavor, however now that the Imperium was a member of the APN it could not directly go after another nation without just cause and exercising all other alternatives. It was a pain in the ass, but the rewards far outstripped the obligations. There was also the domestic opposition to supporting AMF in another one of its massacres, even if it was for a good cause. It was all giving the Empress a headache.

With a slight wince and a sigh Lien addressed the commanders of her armed services, "Okay, we know the domestic and general diplomatic problems supporting AMF would give us, what about the specific military issues?"

General of the Armies Jackson looked about as happy as the Empress did, "Our main issue is that the former APOC countries have gone from hostile to Doomingsland to best buds in the blink of an eye because AMF is going after them. Makes no sense to me, but I'm not a diplomat. Anyway, I digress.

"From what Admiral Jorgenssen tells me, the Praetonian and Questarian fleets are mobilizing. If they didn't over-concentrate on the naval side of their militaries the problem would be more manageable. As it is, they do and we don't have enough of our naval power concentrated around the motherland to make the prospect of taking them both on palatable. However, General McLeod assures me that if push comes to shove the Aerospace Force has enough assets in Aurora and Rana to keep the Questarians bottled up and that we have a sufficiently large bomber force on the mainland to make them feel some serious pain. Praetonia is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. The only forces we have outside of the motherland that are capable of hitting them immediately and directly are on Sula, and they'd face other opposition to do it. Speaking from my own area of expertise, I don't believe we have enough ground forces to hold without significant reinforcement. Tryne is also rather exposed, but the same factors that cause its exposure also mean reinforcing it is frankly impossible. Being perfectly blunt, and speaking from a purely military perspective, Tryne is expendable. Obviously we shouldn't pull anything from Tryne, but we have to accept that if an invasion is mounted we'll likely lose it for the short term and the only thing to do is make anybody who goes after it pay dearly."

Lien sighed in frustration, "So how can we obliquely help Lord Dreadfire and do it without letting Praetonia, or Questers, or the Gods know who else know that we're doing it?"

General McLeod's soft voice cut through the silence, "Highness, as you know the Aerospace Force possesses the large majority of the Imperium's chemical weapons stockpile. We honestly wouldn't miss a couple thousand tons of any or all of the agents. We could quite easily transfer some to Automagfreek and make it appear to be one of hundred of cargo flights to, say, ULE City."

The rejection was instant and sharp, "No! You know the laws and you know that I wouldn't authorize it even if they didn't exist. We don't sell weapons of mass destruction to anybody."

"Highness, not to be a rules lawyer, but I'm not suggesting selling the agents. I'm suggesting that the wartime transference provisions in those laws be used to give AMF the weapons." McLeod answered.

Lien conceded the point with a nod, "Okay, fine. Let's say I'm willing to go that route. How would you suggest going about it?"

The general thought about it for a second, "Well, we should probably just ship the canisters. Our artillery shells fit a different bore, so they're incompatible. Our missiles and rockets are also probably incompatible. As for agents, I would suggest Garm. From what I understand, their chemical weapons troops simply don't have the experience with anything outside of nerve agents to handle anything else safely. With Garm it's deadly enough that if they had to use it and they caught the Doomies unaware, any of the zealots exposed would probably die. We would just have to specify in the instruction that the agent is a whole hell of a lot more deadly than VX and any mistake will kill a lot of people very quickly."

The Empress mulled it over and then decided there wasn't really any other way, "Fine. Sadira, send a message over NATO channels with the offer. Let them know the agent is deliverable in 1,000 ton quantities within 48 hours of their acceptance."

Sadira simply nodded and left to send the message.

"Our friends in Illior have already addressed the point that was to be one of my initial points, though they did it in a much less formal tone than I would have used. That point being, of course, that several nations of the Sovereign League have in the past violated their now-precious 'national sovereignty' to invade nations for human rights violations, and now turn on their heels and criticize other nations for the exact same offence simply because those nations are ones they are not fond of. This is hypocritical to the extreme. Official Sovereign League sources, official Sovereign League statements, and official Sovereign League actions contradict every word from the mouths of such nations as Whyatica and Clandonia Prime on this matter, so I feel no need to further point out the obvious incongruity between words and actions on this point.

"We appreciate the Praetonian announcement giving at least nominal moral support to the cause of elimination of slavery, something several nations in question - Automagfreek and Pantera primarily - have always campaigned against. Of course, the announcement brought with it the expected anti-Gholgoth rhetoric and criticisms of actions not-yet-undertaken by the campaigning nations. Somewhat more frightening and even slightly appalling, I today received on my desk a copy of the Praetonian Daily Herald dated yesterday, announcing that Praetonian ships would serve, essentially, as part of the Doomani navy for the duration of the Freekian-Doomani war. Using somewhat flimsy justification of, apparently, everyone in Automagfreek being slaves simply because the nation does not subscribe to the doctrine of the free market, laissez-faire economy and that this therefore means that the nation as a whole is incapable of fighting slavery. On this subject I advise the Praetonian media and government to delve deep into their history and look at the campaigns Automagfreek and Pantera have conducted in the past, long before Praetonia was even making themselves felt on the world stage, to combat slavery in all forms. If these are truly objective sources, I feel that they would change their tune once they saw the extent to which the Freeks and Panterans are willing to go to to make slavery a non-issue.

"I firmly believe that Automagfreek and Pantera are entering into this with the best of intentions. Although their methods are ... unorthodox is perhaps a word which can be used to describe it effectively ... their results are invariably successful. I have no doubt that this latest campaign will eliminate slavery in many places and in many forms, at least for the time being. Though there is always a tinpot dictator willing to violate basic human rights and instate foolish and, essentially, sinister policies, such as slavery, hopefully there will always be a nation ready to stop them as soon as they begin. Automagfreek has in the past undertaken campaigns which have completely rid the world of any given menace, at least for a given period of time. As a member of the government of a Gholgothian state, I assure you that this is not an attempt to expand Gholgoth's sphere of influence. We have no need to do so, and no desire to 'prove' anything to anyone, as some have suggested. We are firm in our convictions and our own strengths, and we need no outside sources to suck up to us and tell us that we are strong, we are powerful, we exert influence - the things which are spoken of us as true we know of as true, and the things spoken of us as false we know as false. That is, essentially, all that matters.

"Haraki's role in this battle will be a smaller one than some of our allies. While Lord Dreadfire and the Lord Reaver have mobilized massed armies of troops, we are going to undertake a smaller role. Automagfreek has Doomingsland covered and are confident in their victory. All of Haraki's professional air, land, and naval forces are hereby activated, and should be ready for deployment on twelve hours' notice to take part in any Gholgothian attack on any slave trading nation. All naval forces, especially those located at Harakian colonies and naval stations throughout the world, should be ready to intercept any ships carrying slaves from any nation, to any nation. The entire crews of these ships will be placed on trial for crimes against humanity in Harakian courts and all slaves will be set free and set on the fast track to Harakian citizenship, of course with the right to leave Haraki and travel to any nation they choose. Essentially, we now reserve the right to attack any asset of any nation which endorses slave trading, up to and including invasion of the home nation itself and liberation of all of its people, enslaved or not. A government which endorses slavery is not fit to rule over a breakfast table, let alone millions of innocents.

"We will, however, offer an alternative, as it is entirely impossible that every person in every slave trading nation is in favour of the nation's policies with regards to the trafficking of human beings. If the crew of a ship carrying slaves turns itself in to any Harakian military force, we promise they will not be harmed. All slaves will be set free and an inquiry will be held into the proceedings aboard the ship, but let it be known that at least you will be in our good books for turning against your leaders on this matter and therefore will most likely be either set free or given leniency in your sentencing should you be found guilty of a crime.

"We would, of course, prefer to see diplomacy run its course on this matter, but appreciate that attempts to do so have been tried - and have failed - many times in the past, often with the very nations we are now beginning a campaign against. However, our desire for a peaceful resolution is overwhelming, and as such the Harakian government is willing to offer this: as slave trading nations are, essentially, trying to turn a profit, we will offer to pay you for every slave you own, if you turn them over to Harakian authorities unharmed. We will pay you one Harakian dollar per slave. This may not sound like much, but the other alternative is, when it boils down to it, a Freek-led invasion of your nation and the forcibly achieved freeing of all slaves in your possession. As this will be accompanied by the fall of your government, I am sure we can both agree that it is better for you to turn a very slight profit and give up slave trading for good.

"Questions have been raised as to parliament's decision in a closed session and free vote on whether or not to accompany the Freeks and our fellow Gholgothian brothers on this campaign, and was fairly securely voted into being with over 68% of the vote. Since it was a closed session I am not allowed to give the details of the vote, and as it was not a vote along party lines it would be irrelevant for me to make any comments pertaining to who voted for what option. The vote itself, along with pledging support for the anti-slavery cause to all ends and no matter what it requires, also mobilizes all professional military forces, as announced earlier, and pledges military support, should it be required, to any Gholgothian action against pro-slavery nations, with any specific action subject to parliamentary veto should a new vote be opened on the specific subject of the target nation.

Even before the speech had gone out, the order for mobilization had gone out. Haraki's professional divisions, some of the best in the world, were quite few in number, but were never deployed in bulk. The semi-professional infantry had also been given an issue to be prepared for mobilization within 48 hours' notice, but the actual order for mobilization had not gone out yet and would not unless Haraki's ability to mount an offensive or defensive land war was severely tested. The potential damage to the economy with millions of jobs being lost was too great.

The navy swung to life slowly but steadily. Over the course of one afternoon, globally Harakian ships bristled to life, running last-minute checks before preparing for deployment should it be necessary. At Harakian naval bases around the world, the naval stations and their small contingents of marines came to life, running boarding and live-fire-near-noncombatant drills. Back in Haraki, in Arkia's port, a small but significant fraction of the Harakian navy swung to life, designated the Harakian First Fleet, Gholgothian favourite commander Admiral Steven Tyrell in command, the tall battleship superstructures and aircraft carrier towers making their mark along the city's view to the sea as the Harakian ships exited the naval harbour and put in beside the city's main docks, ready for fast deployment. On land, the Harakian land forces were quick to mobilize. In their barracks, the professional infantry swung into life with the ease and skill of determined regulars, preparing for their deployment with the finesse and practiced routines that made them so deadly.

South of Arkia, Haraki's most elite ground division, composed of ten thousand of General Adam Shartz' brainchild, the Dragoons, swung into life as well. Modeled after the Freekian Sentinels and Panteran Reavers in particular, the concept of Harakian super-elite infantry had never been far from the minds of the high command since the nation's joining Gholgoth, but it had been Shartz who had made it a reality. With Freekian guidance and Reavers helping train the soldiers, they had, even without any battle-hardening, been turned into efficient, deadly fighting machines, with some of the best equipment available. Now, they, along with some less than half million of their more regular brethren, simply waited for the word to deploy to whichever was to be their first target.

Who is Damien Dreadfire to tell the world what it can and can not do? He is so against slavery, and yet he seems so willing to put so many nations under his heel, consequently making them his slaves. He orders nations to bow to his will without a fight, and many of them do it, and he promises to do great and terrible things such as take the lives of possibly millions of people just so that he may make things "right". So that he can bring "justice" to them. Where is the justice in indescriminatly taking the lives of men and women who have done nothing to provoke such attacks? Who have recieved nothing in the way of diplomacy? Simply, it is not there.

Damien, you are so willing to provoke massive wars over the simplest of things, things that can be fixed over time. You simply explain this away because,"it takes too long". Maybe it "takes too long" to switch from a slavery based economy to a nonslavery based economy, no?

The complete destruction of a nation, the deaths of millions, is simply not worth it for the rights of few. Automagfreek's ways are not fit for the modern world, a world of diplomacy. You have no reason to attack nations that may have never even come across the name "Automagfreek", who may have been in deep isolation for decades, who may have simply retained their culture.

No matter how barbaric the practice is, it is not right to do away with it with even more barbarism. That is something that you will obviously never understand, and the world has likely become aware that there is no convincing you that what you do is wrong. Simply know that at the end of this crusade, that you will have accomplished nothing.

You claim the 'modern' world is one of diplomacy. Please point to me how this is true, as I clearly do not see the same world as you do. As far as I have seen in research for this topic, slavery in today's world is not something that can be eliminated by diplomatic means. I have seen slavery abolished by the invasion of nations and the toppling of their governments, but never by international pressure, primarily because nations tend to focus on self-sustainable industries and are thus not susceptible to international pressure except in terms of military power, and tend not to recognize things such as international accords and treaties, leaving them invulnerable to diplomatic procedures should they not wish to follow them. A sad but true fact.

Unless a microchange has occurred in the world in the past few days without my knowledge, I do not believe the modern world is one of diplomacy. It never has been, and most likely never will be. I wish more conflicts could be resolved with diplomacy, as it would save many lives, but the facts do not point to this. Slave trading nations will not simply give up their slaves because we ask them to. This has been tried - and has failed - in many areas of human rights in the past enough times as to be nothing more than a footnote on the introduction to countless wars.

In fact, the Sovereign League which you are a member of has foregone diplomacy - or has at least seen it fail miserably - several times quite recently, and has ultimately used overwhelming military force to achieve their ends - as examples, the recent invasions of Eurasia, Iragia, and Strator. Nothing was accomplished through diplomacy, and in the end it was nothing but bullets and bombs that ended whatever caused the incident.

Uldarious does not have slaves within its national borders, however it is a nations right to have them as they will. Trying to impose the will of AutoMagFreek on other nations in such a violent matter is a direct violation of national sovereignty.
However we are bound by our membership in the GASN not to go to war with AutoMagFreek, and the policies of our motherland make accepting any refugees a death sentences for the said refugees.
However, if any nation with just cause resists AutoMagFreek they will receive whatever humanitarian aid that our government decides can be given.
