Historical Background
Before the Foundation of the Monarchy, most of Celtia was comprised of seperate city-states. The largest was the state of Dublin, who in 1345, dominated most of Celtia except for a few states in the north. In 1578, the Prophecy War began with Dublin attacking the city-state of Iveringpool. This lasted until 1595. In 1600, the Kingdom of Ireland was founded. King James I was the first monarch of the Kingdom and was from the House of Meade. His first acts as king were to establish a navy (now the Celtic Navy) and funding building projects to reform the urban sectors of the cities. King James was also unique by establishing a Health Department. The job of the health department was to check health conditions in the cities and then clean up the filth, thus improving health in the city and making them cleaner.
King James died in 1645 from heart failure and then thereafter, the period called the "Age of the Benevolent" consisted of 3 kings. These kings were, despite their short life terms, the most benevolent of all Irish kings. The kings were: King Thomas I; King Daniel I; King Wallace I. But after this period, Celtia was fueled by hatred for the now corrupt monarchy. Famine was spreading throughout the land because of the monarchy seizing food shipments. In 1714, in a response to constant raiding, the monarchy killed 4,000 citizens by beheadings. This fueled the fires for future rebellion, which would come in 1744. The Celtic/Irish Civil War began with the Royalists (nobles and royal citizens) and the Radicals (lower-class and middle-class) fighting each other for control of the country. In the end, the Radicals won the Civil war ten years later. A true constitution was formatted in 1777 by the Council of Elders (who would form the House of Elders in Parliament.)
After 1777, the new Republic of Celtia relived stability. The constitution granted the monarchy the right to live, but had no governing powers. They only had the right to emergency powers if approved by Parliament. With the monarchy powerless, the masses celebrated Unity day, which took place on December 1st (same day as the victory of the Radicals.)
