General armed forces information:
The Anj army emphasizes quality over quantity, and prefers to make use of a highly mobile combat style. As a result, it includes a far higher proportion of cavalry (or, more accurately, partially motorized mounted infantry) than most armies would be willing to.
Quick to embrace the concept of air-power, the Anj air force has taken a rather unusual direction, but it's pilots are well trained and know their jobs, while the number of planes is low, the Reich has something up it's sleave. aircraft are Used primarily in a CAS-scouting role at present. Those units assigned to the navy’s CLVS are made up of seaplanes.
Misc. defense related:
The Reich does not boast much in the way of border fortification, due to it's natural indefensible position. Instead, all towns and facilities are built with defense in mind, and their occupants trained in the task. This training does not help much if they were to be used as regular soldiers, but for holding such positions for long enough for the regular army to react, it is usualy sufficient. as a result, however, they are rather vulnerable to more... traditional... siege tactics.
Infrastructure:
A comprehensive government owned railway network, with redundant [where possible multiple redundant] routs from one point to another, is maintained. Each day it carries large quantities of goods and passengers from the ports and cities, towns, farms, mines, military bases, and other sundry locations, to the relevant destinations.
While industry in the Reich does tend to cluster, due to a combination of natural forces and governmental decisions, the clusters themselves are spread fairly evenly, mostly near the middle of each province and near the ports.
Government:
The Reichgone presides over a unicaramle parliament made up of hereditary lords, elected representatives, and appointed ministers. This body numbers 150 members, of which 80 are elected and 50 hereditary. The remaining 20 are appointed [and may or may not include the commanders of one or more branches of the armed forces]
In the parliament, the Reichgone acts as speaker for the house, and has a final right of veto on any given legislation, however his actual participation in the Formation of the legislation is non-existent.
The beaurocracy, headed by the ministers, also reports to the Reichgone in that capacity, as well as to the parliament. Generally, the Reichgone keeps a very tight leash on the beurocrats.
The judiciary is a separate entity, with no person being allowed to simultaneously retain a seat in parliament and a position in the judiciary. It is run by a council of judges [one from each province.] When one retires or dies, the others chose a number [greater than 2] of qualified judges from the relevant province, and the Reichgone appoints one of the candidates to the council.
The final right of appeal, after going through the entire judiciary, is to the Reichgone. Only the most serious charges may be appealed to this level. There are no court costs at this level.
The courts operate in a more inquisitorial style, rather than adversarial, and while legal advice may be sought outside the courtroom, technically there are no accused or defendants, and as a result all involved are either witnesses, inquisitors, judges, and in some cases jury. As such advocates are not allowed within the courtroom, excepting if the witness in question is for valid reason incapable of representing him or herself. [The mentally infirm, military officers currently on assignment elsewhere, things of that nature]. Police assist the inquisitors by gathering information, but in the court it’s self are treated as witnesses, NEVER as ‘prosecution’ or ‘inquisitors’ in their own right.
Law:
Industrial action is not legal, though firing indiscriminately into a crowed of protesters is not considered a good way of dealing with such things [and can be construed as murder].
The typical response to "industrial action" is the firing of those workers involved. However, this does not mean there is not a means of redress.
There are strict laws about the maximum number of hours a person can be expected to work in a day and in a week. Any hours above that, and the worker must be provided with additional rewards in addition to their usual pay. No worker may be forced or coerced into taking those extra hours against their own wishes [Except by the government in times of war, and only then when the war involves a direct threat to the Reich's home territories, or the colony in which the worker resides.]
The courts take the laws very seriously, and legal fees are only charged if the case is deemed to be 'frivolous'.
Punishments for the most severe crimes are often harsh. Military service, deportation, or execution are the norm for crimes such as rape, murder, treason, and intentional perversion of the course of justice.
As a general rule, two sentences are put forward by the court, and the convict [found guilty before the passage of sentence, obviously] has a choice between them. It should be noted that in the most severe cases [serial killers, treason that causes large hindrance to a war effort, etc] the choice is often between two methods of execution.

Nortica [japan]
pop 146 000
primarily a source of iron and rice (used as a kind of 'luxury staple' food in the Reich.)
Junica [panama]
pop 50 000
well fortified, and containing the world's second great canal, connecting the pacific and Atlantic oceans. it's regular population, excluding military, is minimal, really. never the less, it's a major trading post, and the gateway to the Reich's colonies. thus it's fortifications are somewhat impressive.
Sutica [New Zealand]
pop 146 000
mined for coal, gold, iron, and farmed for timber, barley, many fruits, sheep, and limited dairy produce Sutica is none the less most famous for it's natural scenery, and for the warrior-tribes who live there. it has been almost one hundred years since the treaty with these tribes was signed regarding the governance of the colony, but so far all parties have lived up to their sides admirably. many of the Reich's elite companies draw the bulk of their manpower from this area. here also, the Reich first encountered serious trench warfare and a discovered a new school of fortification technique.
the experience has not left them wishing to engage in attacks on such again, thus their current high emphasis on mobility, flexibility, and initiative in combat.
