New Past Tech/Fantasy Interest Thread

With the death of the old Past Tech rp I decided I wanted to start another. Leraning from previous mistakes, I figure the world was simply to big. How do you rp during a time period when Greece was "the world" and have somebody in Greenland?
So I figured a solution out.
To join this rp, you must make a map. Everybody's map would be the same size, and you are free to place towns, cities and terrian where and how you wish...withen reason. Once your map is approved, your map is instantly added to "The Big Map"
The Big Map is where all the maps are connected, border to border. Thus, everybody who is playing is near each other. No escaping, no hiding. You have to deal with the other players everyday.
I want the rp to be a fantasy rp. You can pick a race or invent your own, but it must be approved. Don't play dragons and number in the millions, and don't make your race insanely powerful. You can play your race however you want, to being animals, to a mighty city state.
Magic will be allowed, but nothing insane. You can't melt the world or turn an entire army into chickens. More along the lines of wizards shooting fire balls or summoning demons or raising the dead.

Well MSPaint is definantly the most common, what I used to do when making maps is use CIA factbook stuff and just clear off all the writing in Paint.

I suggest that you start out with a huge land map, a maximum number of players, and let them pick what areas they want.
I'm not certain about your original issue, however. In fantasy, a transporter system can be set up allowing access to various areas.

I was planning on having my people be a Confederation of four City-States on an Oblast that has some large mountains and low river valleys in it. There is also an island right off of the Oblast. Three of my city-states are on the mainland whereas the fourth is on the island, connected by a large bridge. I was also planning on having a large wall closing off the main population from outside threats span across the north of their population centers.

Lemurians are wild and brutish creatures that care little for other beings. They have bodies that are half-man and half-beast, usually with the horned head of a goat. In battle, they combine ferocity with a savage lack of discipline, fighting and battling amongst themselves in their eagerness to get at the enemy.
Lemurians willingly embrace their heritage of Chaos, for although they have a semblance of the intelligence of a man, they employ it with the base cunning of a wild animal. Lemurians are not natural creatures: they are said to be cerated by an elder race that came from the stars, the oft whispered Hyperboreans. They worked a dreadful change on many of the ancestors of Man and animals, causing severe mutations. Hence, Lemurians were created: men that became animals, and animals that became men, a mix that is wholly chaotic.
Shunned and abhorred by every other race, the Lemurians are bitter creatures, driven by animal rages and a highly destructive instinct. They do not seek conquest or glory, they fight only to bring ruin to others, to sow destruction and discord and bring other races to their knees. They remain in tribe structures, with the most powerful tribe acting as a overlord for all other tribes until they are eventually pushed aside, and replaced by another tribe.
Tribes are roaming warbands led by the strongest among them. Lemurian hordes are extremely dangerous in battle; a ferocious horde of brutish warriors, great lumbering chariots, packs of slavering hounds and bands of larger beasts eagerly tear apart any enemies that dare to stand in their way.
The largest and most brutal Lemurians are called Chaoslords, followed by the only marginally less vicious Wargor. Of the infantry, the strongest are the heavily armed and armoured Bestigor, who fight in elite units. Finally come the rank and file, Beastherds composed of the larger Gors, mixed with mobs of the frailer, short-horned Ungor. A relatively stable mutation are the Centigor, beastman with the lower torso of a goat, quick and powerful cavalry. Some Lemurians also possess magical and spiritual powers, these are called Witch Doktors and are influential, powerful characters. Doombulls are enormous, bull like creatures, renowned for their enormous strength and predeliction for eating the bodies of their enemies. The Lemurians use a variety of savage animals, including large packs of mutated hounds, as well as Tuskgor, which are massive boarlike creatures that often drag Tuskgor Chariots.

Okay, here it goes...
The Weffei Confederation is comprised of four cooperating city states situated around the Bay of Weffei: Wesschtadt, Therfolymei, Handfurt Minor and Handfurt Magna. The Confederation is 100% human. They have redlied heavily on steam power from the various water resources around them and have developed a variety of technologies. The Confederation is run in a central Congress in Handfurt Magna by a senate of 100 men. Each City-State is run by its own governor. There are many smaller settlements scattered around The Confederation contributing to the Confederation's wealth and technology through fishing, mining, hydroelectricity, and soldiering. On the Northern frontier of the Confederation lies The People's Wall, a 70ft high defense line stretching along the Confederation's Northern front. on the Wild side of the wall there is a large ditch dug in filled with "fang-wire," a nasty-looking razor and barbed wire set in thickets at the bottom of the ditch. The military is a sizeable force and is split into three divisions: the navy, a collection of steam or wind powered ships ranging from gunboat to battlecruiser; the air brigade, a force of zeppelins and small biplanes; and finally, the powerful army, comprised of infantry, cavalry, armoured cavalry, and gunships. The army is well known for its armored cavalry; steam powered armored vehicles with a small cannon and spinning maces mounted on the side; and their gunships, large tamed beasts called Olrecs that are equipped to carry a guncrew and a large bore cannon. They also have a small air defence force near major cities and important outposts that utilizes massive steam cannons to lob fragmentation bombs into the air that explode, flinging hot shards and turbulence all over the sky.

I'm a little wary of biplanes, but as long as they're highly experimental and not numbering in the hundreds, I think they could be alright. Would be interested in a small battle to advertize our PT rp? Perhaps a Dreadichor Chaoslord has lead a warband over the mountains and seeks to pillage that small village near The Dead Swamp?

About the biplanes, they are not numbering very high. The entire air force consists of a few zepellins and maybe 15-25 biplanes that don't have a heavy armament, basically a peashooter. And I'd be interested in getting having a battle there. The village is called Totenburg. It is basically a site for mining a special ore from the swamps bottom called Aluminilite. The ore is then refined into aluminil, a strong but light material used in the production of zepellins, biplanes, and armored cavalry. In Totenburg there is a pub, an Aluminil Mine, an Inn, some small shops and smitheries, and a garrison of homeguard troops numbering in at about 60 men.

I posted the big map on the front page. We're just having a small skirmish, not a full blown war (yet). As soon as you get you map up, I'll put you on it,
The plot is simple: The World has simgly appeared from nowehere, and nobody can exactly remember how long they lived here. Force fields block the land, air and sea from entering in the forbidden zone: areas not on the big map, areas that have yet to "wake up." Your people are simply trying to survive and make a living, and undertsnad the world around them.
But then again, the plot is whatever you make of it!

ok i guess a breif description is in order
The kingdom of X'atlcamayo is on a small island isolated from others. The bird people that live here are isolationists and very superstitious, making them shun any outsiders from their kingdom of gold. Living in the rainforests have made them incredible hunters and trappers, excelling in leading prey to their doom. All X'atl men are soldiers and trained to hunt, capture, and kill brutally and effectively. To better train their soldiers, a bi-annual ritual known as Xochiyaoyotl is done, pitting soldier against soldier in a massive battle for supremacy on a small island called Oubao-moin (The island of blood). Although it isn't to the death, many a soldier do succumb to bloodlust and will kill to win. The biggest survivor is the new Cacique of the army and leads the soldiers into battle for wars.
Besides soldiers, the X'atl train countless seers that are capable of summoning the guardian spirits of the sacred forests (Ku'Guada) to aid and protect them. Other magic can be used, like summoning storms. There are several dieties that theywrship, which'll be told later. These are just some basics.

King Djupetfodd II is fine with it.
The Trollfolk inhabiting Trollskog are slightly larger than humans,with top heights at about 7 foot 4 inches. They like beer, in vast quantities, and follow the ancient troll god Urgammal Rivfader. They hate non-pagan religions and their priests. The currency is the priest skull, and tthe national animal is the human.

Cool. one more added. So this world gradually gets bigger as more people sign up. I like that concept. Makes for good exploration like back in earth's past, when Romans discovered the Gaul or the Chinese discovered India.
