The Delegate walked into the Presidents Office; Omar al-Bashir; sat behind his oak desk smoking a fat cigar; the man did like the finer things in life; "what brings you to the Sundan?" he asked as the delegate sat down.

"I am Lady Julia McCloude I represent the nation of Animarnia," she said slowly.

"Yes."

"Your country now belongs to us"

"Ridiculous!" he yelled

"Oh I assure you we have the means to back it up; as you may have noticed we have recently undergone an economic boom; much of that money has been used to develop our own nation of course. However also some of it has been filtered through slowly buying Sudanese business; you will find that most except those that a state run now belong to us. In fact if we shut down all that we own in Sudan; we could bring Sundan to its knees with frightening efficiency"

"You, you…bastards" he said slowly as the realisation hit him; "WE will fight this!" he said conviction in his voice.

The delegate smiled; "I Assure you we can back this up; in fact we have several photographs of you meeting and consorting with and taped convocations of you talking to rebel Jajaweed militia responsible for the rape and slaughter of civilians in Danfar; these explicitly implicate you giving the orders"

"I…I"

The Delegate through the photograph pouch into the desk along with a collection of tapes; "these aren’t the only copies; and these aren’t the only instances we have on record" she added.

"Do exactly what we say, when we say or we will take military action against your nation and forcibly remove you from power and deliver you to the court of human rights along with all the evidence in our position; if you see daylight again you would be extremely lucky"

"I…" he began before sighing his shoulders sagging in resignation; "what are your terms" he sighed out.

"You will remain in power; but we will have executive Veto and oversight of all matters; you will essentially become a figurehead for the Council of Nine in the Region of Sudan. We will have control over all government spending, trade, the military, construction projects, the ports and all government owned land" she said.

"Very well" Mr Bashir spoke.

1 hour later, Presidential Press Conference, Sudanese Palace

"People of Sudan; today I signed an historic deal with the nation of Animarnia; to bring the Sudanese people into the fold of the federation; this will give us a great boost in our economy, national jobs and industry and military protection. Within the year we hope to have integrated fully into the federation. I will continue to act as head of state for Sudan; Sudan will not be subjugated or Ruled over; but I believe becoming part of Animarnia is good for Sudan"

2 hours later, Press Room, Animarnia Queens Residence
"Today; the nation of Sudan signed a deal making them part of our federation; with all privileges and rights there off" the queen began.

"As such; within the next year the Sudanese Military and Industry will be integrated with our own and its GDP will be put under Animarnia Control to bring the Sudan up to Animarnian Standards. Which have rapidly accelerated over the last four years due to aggressive industrial development and investment from our friends the Han Empire and looks only likely to increase over the coming years as we increase our foreign relations"

"it is only natural Sundan would approach us about becoming part of our nation to latch into our success and make a better standard of living for a people who have throughout all recent history been besieged with trouble. Which brings us to the Issue of Danfar. The Animarnian border with Danfar has long been stabilised and industrialised to an extremely productive area of our glorious nation"

"The International community has ignored the plight of Danfar because it is not convenient to interfere; we too have been guilt of this; there for I have set a 48 hour deadline for all rebels to surrender there weapons and themselves to law enforcement and they will be granted amnesty and integrated into the military for retraining. For too long have we ignored the human suffering, for too long have we only looked after ourselves"

"If the Rebels fail to surrender; military action will follow; after which the Rebel leaders will be captured and delivered to the court of human rights in Europe where they will be tried for crimes against humanity; Any armed resistance will be met with force. If it comes to military action once Ceaseion of Hostilities is confirmed any and all aid will be welcomed to the area of Danfar be it food, medical supplies, construction teams or peacekeepers. Animarnia will be supplying some 25 tons of Food aid a month to the region to help feed the staving there and set up hospitals."

The queen left the room leaving the press in a frenzy of activity.

The 48 Hour Period
While the world reacted to the statements from Animarnia and Sudan; Various units were tapped for deployment to the Animarnia/Sudanese border; these included some 60,000 Imperial Storm Troopers and a further 20,000 Warrior Caste; backed by five armoured Regiments each consisting of 34 T-90 Main battle tanks. Along with five Armoured Cavalry regiments each consisting of BMP-3's, BTR-90's and BTR-D's supporting these forces were several artillery regiments using 152mm self propelled Howitzers, 122mm Towed Howitzers, MRLS and Buratino SSM launchers.

At airforce bases along the border Tu-22M Backfire and Tu-94 Bear bombers were being readied for Sorties along with Mig 31's and Su- 24's for precision strikes against rebel bases and weapon caches. This would also be the first time the new JAS-39 Gripen and F-22A Raptors would see real combat in the Animarnia Airforce even though they were still being delivered several wings were operational. These would also be backed by the Mi-28 Havoc Attack Helicopter Regiments and Helicopter deployed Airborne storm troopers

Animarnia ASAS was already being Covertly inserted near the south to prevent Rebel leaders from fleeing into Tanzania or Zaire where they had no jurisdiction

On the Sudanese side of the Danfar border the Sudanese army was ordered to mass on the boarder making it a two pronged attack Soviet Era T-72s and T-55 Tanks massed in large numbers backed by Rodivark attack Helicopters and BMP-2 IFV's. Some 50,000 Sudanese soldiers were going to push into the Danfar region one thing was certain if the rebels didn't surrender it would be slaughter but this had to be done with the utmost concern for civilian casualties if they were to remain clean with the rest of the world.

(OOC: I'm gonna NPC the rebels; aiming for roughly a four IC week campaign of military action which I will make quite detailed; followed by lots of investment and construction to revitalise the region; the queen will make good on delivering rebel leaders to Europe for trial. And yes this IS to distract the world from the fact we just effectively annexed the whole of Sudan peacefully)

The country was a blight upon Africa as it was, and though the SCE considered Animaria more of a rival than anything, the addition of one of the poorest countries in Africa would do little more than hurt the overall standings of Animaria, rather than move it up. To the Expanse government, the SCE was still the strongest African nation.
Sudan wasn't in the Confederacy's sphere, either-Northwest Africa, from Morroco to Libya to Cameroon, was-and the Confederacy would ensure that none infringed on these plots. As it was, the Expanse government quickly flashed off a heavily encrypted message to the Animarian government. Whether it actually had been a peaceful move-highly doubtful-or not, the SCE was determined to remain the sole sovereign over the Northwest region of Africa.

However, we do wish to warn Animaria: stay away from Cameroon and its surrounding area, along with the Libyan nation. We have a balance of power in Africa as it stands right now, and we wouldn't want that balance tipped, would we...

Of course we have no desires to provoke a conflict with our estimeed neighbours the SCE; and indeed the balance is good for all concerned; as they say peace is good for business and we have no desire to expand further than we are welcomed; the people of Sudan will now enjoy a better quality of life and the human meat grinder that is Darfur will be solved one way or another.

Tread lightly in the Sudan. The old regime was that of Qur'an-thumping dolts, and we hail their departure. However, we must say that we would prefer Qur'an-thumping dolts as neighbors over imperialist dolts as neighbors. We hope that your nation will not decide to be the latter.
On another note, we note the suffering of the people all over Sudan, and aid towards its people has long been an item on our payroll. The UASR's national humanitarian society, the UASR Red Star, has been active in Darfur and the South for many years, but our actions were limited by the previous regime. We hope to deploy more personnel there now that you "control" the country.

The Han Imperial Government remains wary of this invasion into neighboring Sudan, but considering the decision to cede sovereignty was consensual, it has garnered Imperial support for the legitimate actions. We only request that such decisions to cede sovereignty be fully disclosed before the actual date of cession (if only because it doesn't allow much a response to the actions happening here).

Kiwiland Message to The Federation of Animarnia

HM Government of Kiwiland expresses concern for the civilians in your undoubtedly justified actions against the rebels. We would also like to congragulate the recent union of Sudan and Animaria, and prays for fruitful development for both nations under the new arrangments.

In light of this we additionally wishes to send Ambassador Mikhail Borisovich Pobedonostsev to represent us in Animarnia, and hopes that you will establish an embassy in our capital Osaka.

Operation Midnight

Midnight in eastern Chad was quiet almost scarily so, the stars above twinkled in the cloudless sky they would bare witness to the mass carnage that was about to unfold on the earth below, perhaps even the only witness that would be left alive. The black unmarked armoured command vehicle stands in wait a mile away under silence, invisible to all but the most advanced sensors, with Commander Elvy Misawa on its command deck awaiting all the units to get into position.

The Many T-90 Main Battle tanks, BMP-3's BTR's and BTR-D's thundered into position closely followed by many MRLS and Artillery pieces the final push was it was called from various staging points.

Overhead Tu-22M backfires streaked over the artillery in formation closely followed by two Bear Strategic bombers and escorted by a mix of older Mig-31's, several SU-24's and the new F-22A and JAS-39 Squadrons

“All units in position, Birds are in flight, requesting permission to deploy”, reported one of the command crew

On the darkened command area the crew waited for Elvy to issue the command to go.

“Commence operation”, Elvy said with an almost sadistic Grin. It was time for Animarnia to show its muscle. The rebels had been given 48 hours to surrender; they had not done so. Now was the time to make good on there threats all peacekeepers had been alerted, all civilians knew this was coming and were told to keep there heads down for the coming hurricane of destruction

The peaceful night was shattered into a million pieces as the sound of thunder erupted though this was no natural weather this thunder was caused by gunfire, the many 105mm and 152mm cannons firing a simultaneous salvo upon designated areas groups targeting separate encampments. MRLS's started to rain missiles down on rebel positions targeting other defences that might pose a threat to the operation such as air defence installations and Anti-tank guns. Over Sixty-four Missiles in total were launched from the first salvo in this area aloe assault taking out turrets before they even had a chance to fire off a single round in defence.

The larger artillery units targeted their Cannons into opposite ends of the bases. The sound of the massive cannons firing echoed through the area as the shells encompassed their targets in an massive dome of fire before exploding and incinerating anything around it. Quite obviously thermoboric in nature, you could hear the screams of the rebels caught in the blast if only briefly before the flames took them.

This on its own was a devastating attack but Elvy couldn’t take any chances, there was no such thing as over kill. “Commence Operation, phase 2” she said.

“This is Viper Leader, all units report in, we have a go, Copy?" Said Viper Leader.

“Viper One copy.”

“Viper two copy.”

“Viper three copy.”

“Viper four copy.”

“Viper five copy.”

Each of the bombers checked in intern this was repeated from the various 'viper groups'

“All Vipers prepare to break formation and head to your area of operation.” Viper Leader listened as they all sounded off. “Commence operation”

The many Black Tu-22M's broke formation and started there attack run on known rebel strong holds first came the bombing run, each carried two over twenty four 250lb Bombs. The bombers targeted Air defence, guard towers, barracks and other command and control buildings as well as vehicle hangers to limit retaliation of ground forces. The bombs whistled as they free fell from the belly and wings of the aircraft, impacting the ground below in fiery explosions. In a matter of minutes 2.9 million pounds of explosives was dropped upon rebels strongest positions distributed at various locations. Bear Strategic bombers came in on the second wave with Napalm incinerating anything left alive

“This is Viper Leader, All Ordinance has been dropped, RTB”, said the pilot of the lead bomber wing the Mig's, Sukoi's and other fighter craft dropped various bombs on targets of opportunity ranging from rebel bunkers to crude surface to air missile sites and troop concentrations

That was just the frosting however to soften up the base for the meat and potatoes of this little air strike, which came in the form of 2,000 UH-1A Huey's, 40 Havoc Attack Helicopters and 216 Mi-8 Hips. The Havoc's went in first made their attack run on the vehicles, unleashing their mighty arsenals of rockets, missiles and guns, no armoured vehicle that survived the initial attack was left without being severely riddled with some form of ordinance. The Huey's and hips swooped in clearing Landing Zones for airborne with rockets and machinegun fire; each unloading between six to eight Storm troopers; over 16,000 infantry were deployed all over the region engaging in heavy fighting with the now hornets nest of rebels.

“Send the message to Seiyaku, Tell her the door is open and to watch out for any resistance that scrambled before we hit the area” Elvy said.

"Yes ma'am" the young Soldier replied with a sharp salute

Battle tanks and other armoured vehicles now pushed into the region from both the Animarnia and former Sudanese side beginning what would be a surgical sweep supported by attack helicopters. The area would be lit up quite clearly on any spy satellite in the world as the fires burned.

Official Statement
On Behalf of her majesty we would like to inform the world that the Animarnia Military has begun a campaign to eliminate the Rebels causing human suffering in the Sudanese region of Darfur. We have taken the greatest of care and intelligence gathering to only use excessive force in areas we are one hundred percent certain only contains rebel eliminates and legitimate military targets. The Animarnia military will do its utmost to keep Civilian casualties as low as possible. We advise all civilians in the Darfur region to co-operate fully with the Animarnia military; All peacekeepers have been advised of the strikes.

We would like to re-iterate that all rebels leaders captured will be extradited to the European court of human rights for trial. Any rebels that surrender will be granted full rights of POW's as per the Geneva Convention and once the conflict is over re-trained and re-integrated into the armed forces,

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland supports the federation in it's effort to stabalize Sudan. Such a large and important country cannot be left in chaos and anarchy.

Week 2:
The Animarnia Military had been engaged in hostilities with the Danfur rebels for a week now; and after a series of large air strikes using napalm and other precision guided bombs as well as large support from combat helicopters for rapid deployment had broke the back of the rebel resistance.

The rebels had not been prepared for a war of extermination; they had expected something like the Vietnam War but the Animarnia forces had already gone to lengths to put Civilians into shelters and were much better trained in jungle warfare. This let them get away with their liberal use of Thermeboric explosives and napalm that had all but exterminated most of the rebels in the opening night. So there was only sporadic resistance now from rebels that were out of the main encampments during operation midnight but the armoured support was quickly eradicating them. The Rebels against a trained military were like meat to the grinder.

The Rebels were fleeing south it was all they could do; every other direction had either been taken or was being bombed back to the Stone Age nightly. Animarnia Special Air Service had been covertly dropped into the south and had already picked up four of the big ten Rebel leaders they were aiming to capture; two had been killed in action. Which left four at large; they knew that if they brought in the other four the rebel resistance would be crushed totally when announced on international TV.

There were times when rebel resistance intensified and there were of course casualties; several Hueys and Hips were lost to RPG's as well as several light armoured vehicles but if the conflict were to be judge on casualties alone. Animarnia was still winning.
