Today, government environmental officials have found oil reserves in the Guytin Mountains. The biggest of these reserves was found at the base of Mt Quest. The Cabinet met today to discuss the best course of action. Here is a summary of the meeting.

The best approach to extract this oil would be through sustainable development.
Offer trade with nations allowing this investment to fund the extraction of oil and management of the environment.
Provide education to public on how hey help protect the environment while extraction takes place

We of Londim are open to trade negotiations with all nations. Please submit your negotioations which will be reviewed by the Cabinet.

Good day Londim Cabinet,

We of Kryozerkia run our own national Energy programme and we, while not directly interested in acquisition of your resource, we would like to serve as a third party observer to assist with the environmental impact assessment so it can be determined if it is a viable idea to proceed with any drilling in the Mount Quest region.

From there, we can help by funding a committee to oversee the activities in the area. Said committee would work with any groups funded by the Londim legislature to ensure that companies who drill for oil in the area are conscious of the delicate ecosystem.

We have experts in the industry who work with educators to ensure that those in the area of the extraction are kept safe and that they know what to expect. The same educators also work with the companies to ensure the employees, from the lowest foreman and labourer to the CEOs and other managers understand that any slip up is costly in the end.

Dispatch to Londimi Government - Imperial Oil & Gas plc.

Sir,

Imperial Oil & Gas plc. is the second largest publicly traded company in Praetonia by market capitalisation and an experienced oil extractor. We own oil and gas fields in Praetonia, her colonies, Eurasia and other countries. We also import and refine oil from the Khalifah al Muslimeen. As such, Imperial Oil & Gas plc. is an excellent prospective investor in your country's newly discovered oil wealth, with the experience to extract the oil profitable in accordance with whatever environmental regulations you might see fit to impose.

As you may have gathered, the company is interested in acquiring mineral rights to the areas where oil has been discovered. We are interested in whether or not you have conducted an extensive geological survey revealing precisely how much extractable oil is present, and if you have not then we would be interested in conducting one. Should the oil reserves prove commercially viable to extract, we will be able to make you a firm offer for access to the mineral rights.

We are fully seized of the importance you ascribe to environmental protection, and to enable us to determine what sort of environmental protection measures should be put in place, we would appreciate if you sent us a synopsis of the relevant environmental legislation you have in place and which you plan to impose in future (if any).

Furthermore, it would be useful for us to know what sort of business environment Londim is. For instance, we would like information on your tax rate, labour laws, whether or not a relevantly skilled workforce is present for servicing the oil industry, and whether or not you have port terminals equipped to export oil abroad. If not, then, provided the oil is commercially viable to extract, we would be willing to provide relevant worker training and construct pipelines, terminals and possibly even a refinery inside your country.

Yours,

Lord Shrewsbury,
Chairman of the Board of Directors,
Imperial Oil & Gas plc.

To Krystal Kane,

We of Londim are interested in your proposal. We welcome any interest you may have to oversee any extraction and enviromental impacts. We already have suitable educators in the area as such as Lonim also has oil wells in other parts of the nation. However due to the location of the oil presently the fragile ecosystem needs to be monitored closely.

Proposal Approved.

Lord Shrewsbury,

We are happy you have taken an interest in the MT Quest reserve. Though total acquisition would not be avaliable due to government interest in the area, we will offer 25% of the reserves for your company. A complete survey is yet to take place so you are welcome to conduct one.

The current and proposed environmental legislation is as follows:

There is a small 2% tax rate for all businesses that contribute to air pollution.
All businesses must have a carbon offset scheme of their own. For example purchasing a section of forest to stop being cut down.
All waste that is recylable should be recycled to decrease needs for producing excess pollution.

The business environment of Londim is a capitalist one. Labour laws in place do not allow people under 16 years to enter full time employment, unions are permitted, the minimum wage is 7L (libertines = $1.45) and the GDP per capita is $29,700. A skilled workforce is present as Londim has smaller oilfields within the nation and training facilities are of the highest level. For exporting oil we have both government owned and private oil tankers and trains for this purpose.

We look forward to hearing form you.

Once the necessary visas have been acquired, processed and approved, we will be sending a team to do an initial assessment of the area so we can decide how we need to approach this area. We will send a small group of scientists over, along with two of our top environmental-specialist professors to help develop a sustainable solution that will allow for companies to work around the delicate ecosystem.

Seconded. But what I don't understand is that invading a nation and stealing its oil only makes the demand go down, meaning cheaper oil and a drop in profit... but anyway enough banter. Londim is a big boy and can take care of himself :P

I'll make an IC post soon.

I smell trap here, so I'm gunna see how this plays out before I do anything, but I will, however, answer you inquiry there. By controlling a decent amount of world oil supplies (the goal of Griffincrest), I can effectively set up a monopoly by dominating the supply of oil at whatever rates we want to in countries formerly oil rich, and sell their oil at low prices in other nations, thus driving domestic industry prices lower than the comany can afford, driving them out of business and giving another market to Griffincrest.

The Black agents wish to buy a few fields in which to help provide funds for our training programs. Though we dont have to have them this would be a great advantage to us. We would be more then willing to help in the training and building of the oil wells and storage facilities.

We of course will be willing to provide you a 50% portion of the oil derrecks production.

If you would be willing to speak more on this matter we can send someone to speak with you.

I have to say this is a very good strategy. Holding oil will mean countries either pay up or fall. OPEC have threatened and have once done this in real life which lead to panic in all nations.

The pilots radioed back with the affirmitive on the landing strip. As the aircraft came into view of the airport the pilots lined up the aircraft to the landing strip.

The landing went off without a hitch. And the plane came in contact with the taxi vehicle and was taken to a hanger on the outer rims of the airport. AS the aircraft was secured, Mr. Sneal opened the hatch of the craft and walked outside. He was fashioned with a beautifull Slik Black suit with ared tie and silver tipped shoes. Mr. sneal waited to be greeted.

The VIP lounge was bathed in light. The red carpets and beige walls made the small room seem like a mini palace. Chairs made of the fines leather dotted the room. Harold Durst sat in one of these chairs reading the paper scanning the headlines:

"Londim Pledges SupportTo Vetaka...This should be interesting..." His thoughts were interrupted as the door opened. A man walked in.

"Ahh Mr Sneal I assume. It is a pleasure."

Mr. Sneal was impressed with the room. Not many Accountants would recieve such an honor where he was from. Harold seemed like an ok fellow and seemed reasonable. Mr Sneal was fully confident that they would be able to work out a deal.

"You must be Harold, Mr Sneal. I like the louge very nice. Very expensive..." Sneal said this with a firm hand shake.

" I hope we can make my employers happy, you see they have a " service" which sometimes requires an absorbedant amount of money to function. Though this oil operation would greatly improve their ability to continue, it is not mandatory that this deal be made. But we do so hope it does." said Sneal as he saw down in a chair and opened a breifcase...
