Kuronan Times

AP-The Global Defense Initiative alliance has sent repeated statements about their refusal to recognize the southern islands in the region of Raging Passionate Malady of Auroa, Hoshino, Stillstando, Corona and Animalpolis, due to the fact The Dictatorial State of Red Tide2, nor the United States of Independent Hitment have offically released the islands, despite AHSCA's delceration of Independence/ Although the siezing of AHSC (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=520189) was against most international standards, and against the standards of the GDI, President Roberts remains frim in the taking of the islands.

No offical (Namley IC) comment from President Roberts, though there has been much criticism from Princess Tomoyo Mikanu for stating "HotDogs2 is at long last showing it's true colors, and shows it doesn't hold to it's own standards." Although a large supporter of Stevid, Kurona has openly condemned the taking of the island states due to the fact it was purely out of poltical spite. However with all forces now withdrawn Tomoyo feels AHSCA can rightfully claim independence. This issue has also captured the attention of several editorial writers in Kurona and has sparked several cartoons (see Opinion Section pg.8) Six Nations have declared they recognize AHSCA as an independent sovereign state.

This comes to no great susprise of course, seeing what GDI was made up of.

TO: Those engaged in incorrect propaganda

Please accept the enclosed gifts of toy rattles and boxes of coloured wax crayons, to replace those thrown out of your prams, and to assist you in your quaint drawings, accordingly. The Grand Duchy of Aunesia has no interest in a minor territorial dispute between rebels and a sovereign ally; it is a matter for internal resolution.

We would suggest you re-evaluate your flippant, blanketing comments regarding the membership of the GDI, in light of the fact that a majority of memberstates are both unaware of and do not care about this self-proclaimed nation.

OFFICAL RESPONSE:

It's desturbing if what you say is true, the fact that members of an alliance do not know or care about matters of which their alliance is involved in, then that shows the lack of stablity of an alliance. Take your crayons and toys and shove them!

The Foreign Minister of Red Tide looked the reporter who had just asked him the question up and down.

'Obviously a foreigner...' He thought, 'Doesnt know when to keep his mouth shut.'

"In regards to your question," He said, turning on the charm(he was the youngest minister of the DSRT), "The DSRT regards Kurona as a none-entity in the current negotiations over the Second Hannover Conflict. As such, all statements made by it and its press are wholly and completely irrellevant to the situation at hand. As such, we will continue to ignore both Kurona and the others who have not participated militarily in the conflict. That is all, no more questions."

And then the Foreign Minister walked off.

Lone Galaxy, going in and forcibly freeing the islands would be a very, very silly thing to do. RedTide2 and Independent Hitmen (partially active) still have lots of military units in the area. If you begin moving in with all guns blazing then you'd be up against three of biggest military and economic super powers in the world- RedTide2, Independent Hitmen and myself.

I may no longer have any military units on Truce Island or in the local area but they could just as easily return to defend Imperial interests. I may have left Truce Island (one of the islands that has become part of this new "nation") but until a treaty is signed with Kanami then the island is still technically Imperial territory and will be defended as such.

Me and Kanami have reach a mutual agreement on a treaty being drafted and i'm currently typing up a treaty that is beneficial to both sides. Your military intervention may mean a continuation of The Second Hanover Conflict which would ultimately lead to the likely defeat of the islands and Kanami, and serious depression in my military and economy.

We can't afford the war starting again and peace is so near. Military intervention is not forbiddon but I strongly recommend against it.

"People these days..." Commented president Roberts when shown the article from a rather fanciful foreign paper. The fact that none of the Hotdogs papers had reported this was just further proof that no-one took any notice of Kurona.

In fact, the secretary who had passed the information onto the president was relieved of her job, and replaced by a more competent one. Instead, a rather bored work experience boy at the foreign office was given the newspaper print and told to write a reply. The result was the following:

To the Kuronan Times:

I should like to point out that those 8 states whom claim AHSCA are a nation are in fact hardly nation states themselves, nor will they ever be and are of no concern to Hotdogs2. We also point out Hotdogs2 is not in any way involved in the Islands making up this supposed nation, but did support the stopping of genocide on the Islands (perhaps such a newspaper should check their fact, any internet search would have shown the invasion was sparked by Genocide taking place on the Islands). Not only this, but i myself know that IH and RT2 still have forces in the region, and will not leave until they are sure there is no chance of genocide reoccurring, so far the tensions it has caused from nations not even involved in any previous conflict, such as The Lone Alliance.

The GDI's mission is one of peace and to stop Genocide, we have not been asked to get involved in this issue, and in the past when Hotdogs2 brought about a peacefire saving Kanami's allies major damage to their nations militaries and to Kanami themselves. The fact that Kanami signed the agreement afterwards is in fact proof that Hotdogs2 did an excellent job. We do not feel it is ours to say when forces should be withdrawn from the Islands unless we are invited by anyone. In this case Hotdogs2 would carry out observations of the Islands to ensure it was safe to become an independent state.

I shall definatly not be reading the Kuronan Times in the future unless it's for a laugh.

OOC: TLA, the Islands are i believe reasonably close to our nation(we are in GD as is Stevid). We would get involved in any invasion involving Stevid or IH, and possibly RT2 depending on the situation.

OOC: It depends on if I'll wage "Open War" I doubt it. However since it's quite obivious that Red Tide is one of the "Evil" nations of NS, I doubt many 'good' nations will jump to their defense.

I have no intention of bothering your assets in the area. My sole target would be Red Tide.

One more thing, I never RPed recalling my fleet, So I still have a "Presence" in the area to begin with. If you need an IC excuse they are waiting for all peace settlements to be complete.

But on the more covert side...
GDI Declaring support just proves to TLA that GDI is an "Evil" Organization. Meaning that they are unlawful imperialists of the situation and
giving TLA a reason to hire some outside "Help" to start covert aid to the islands.

Red Tide's Occupiation will go to hell one way or another.

Kanami Evening News

CARMINA GADALICA-Vice Prime Minister Akiko Mashmio expressed her opinons regarding the Hanover Treat, from the last Issues of the Kuronana Time stating "Kanami never has belived nor will it ever belive that the treaty to end Hanover was ever in their intrest, and GDI more or less forced their way onto scene." Akiko also rebutled the statement that H2/GDI was responsible for stopping the genocide "when in reality it was the work of Kanami forces and their constant gun runs on the beaches." Akiko still maintains Prime Minister Romney can and will negotiate a truce once and for all between them and Stevid and will end the war with out the help of GDI.

Opposition from the other parties have called Vice Prime Minister Mashimo folish for stating her comments feeling it will bring about more tention. But Mashimo feels if GDI really values free society, they will value free speech. "As a token to show there are no hard feelings, we will send issues of all Kanami Newspapers into HotDogs2, to sell right along side their own print media." No other news how GDI will respond to the latest book The REAL GDI which heavily criticizes the alliance for their role and allowing bloodshed to contiune further in the Southern Islands. "It was never about Genocide, it was all about politcal spite!" Said Author Allen Webber "RedTide, a dictorial state I might add could care less about preventing genocide, and besides that, only Truce Island was the one that suffered. It's all a long money chain," he contiuned "GDI is getting money off of the southern island states. If these islands are so small and insignificant as they say, why are they keeping them? Every time they open their mouths they are just contradicting themselves over and over again."

"Size doesn't matter." Said Mashimo "A nation state is a state with a government, nothing more. Some states are large and some are small. If the Holy See can be called a region, or a nation even then these islands can unite to become united states."

In the meantime Politcal negotiations contiune in Stevid as normal.

OOC: The GDI hasn't declared support, we just haven't stopped the previous invasion, but we did support Stevid regaining their Islands...as for the invasion of the islands, now that peace talks and probable withdrawal from the islands are taking place the GDI won't be stopping it, only putting pressure on RT2, especially as we can probably sort out RT2 getting a base in the region if they really wanted...of course for good IC reasons.

Unimaginative saying the GDI makes a profit but nevermind, IC is IC...

IC:

The "work experience boy" was getting more heavily involved in the work than he had expected. A quick response had been made by Kanami's press to his earlier message, but he was quite prepared to respond. In fact, the whole of the Hotdogs foreign affairs department had been in stitches after the fact that the Kanami Evening News had reported on their own Vice Prime Minister offering their (poor) views upon the situation they believed the GDI was in.

Of course the fact that a 15 year boy had caused a national leader to respond on this scale could cause a major embarrassment, one which the national media had, unfortunately and accidentally, leaked to them...

On the HWN news later that day:

"And in other news, it has been leaked that the response to an earlier news clip on Kanami, which we are proud to say we were the only station to report, the Vice-prime minister of Kanami has been quoted as making a strong, and rather wrong, accusation against the GDI following a letter from a 15 year old work experience boy. James States has been on a two week work experience course at the Foreign office. He said that he was proud to have aroused such a response from a national prime mister..."

The report soon ended, national interest in HD2 to foreign affairs was at a low, but there was growing suspicion at the newspapers beginning to arrive from Kanami. Poorly written and heavily Biased, there had already been one report of a news stand owner picketing his franchisor for giving him such rubbish materials despite the short amount of time the papers had been in HD2 (the versions being made available in small quantities at first). It seemed to most that Kanami wasn't the most liked in Hotdogs2.

Corona Island, Dusk

The NKVD had been observing the house for sometime, plotting out all possible escape routes, and confirming that their target was in there. Tonight, they were.

Three vans and a armored car belonging to the NKVD screeched to a halt infront of the house. Three squads of NKVD Agents, gripping M-50 Submachineguns and clad in their kevlar vests, sprinted up to the house, keeping out of the way of any windows or doors, while simultaneously being able to cover any doors. Then the helicopter arrived and began to circle, blaring with a loudspeaker.

"Attention! Ayla Tural and Kino Tural! This is the NKVD! You are under arrest! Come out, unarmed, with hands on your heads or we will forcibly enter the building! You have five seconds to comply!"

THE TIMES

Unrest in the Southern Archipelago
The Imperial Foreign Office is said to be becoming more and more distressed and concerned about the growing political climate gathering around the Southern Archipelago under a protectorate governed by Kanami. This recent increase of tension comes at a time when the islands have joined together under one banner for mutual respect and protection from foreign aggressors and declared themselves a single sovereign nation. However this raises an interesting debate over the legitimacy of the islands’ “banding” together because of the results of the recent Second Hanover Conflict that brought Stevid, RedTide2 and Independent Hitmen into direct military conflict with the islands and Kanami forces.

During the Second Hanover Conflict the Empire successfully invaded and completely occupied the large island of Truce while Imperial allies invaded and took a further two islands. This led to the a renewal of the Hanover War which was against the GDI’s hopes, however the GDI decided not to intervene seeing as they were FOR military action initially. Animalpolis was also targeted for invasion and eventual assimilation into the Stevidian Empire and Commonwealth but pressing matters regarding the Golden War of Succession and the arrival of the Merkar Republic in the mentioned war pressured the government of Stevid to ask for a ceasefire to which all nations happily agreed to uphold. Kanami, statistically, lost the war and RedTide2 occupied the island they invaded which the GDI immediately protested against, Stevid and Independent Hitmen governments made no comment on this annexation seeing as the raw hatred that existed between the two allies and Kanami was still ripe and probably meant that nobody cared less what RedTide2 did to their island so long as it didn’t break the rules of the Geneva Convention

More recently though, political, military and economical pressure on the Conroy government has led to Stevid actually sub-coming to the inevitable and asking for a long lasting peace deal between the Kanami Republic and the Holy Empire to which Kanami dutifully accepted. Peace talks are on going and seem to be on course for a treaty to be drafted, signed and made official in little more than a week from now. Ms. Romany, her cabinet ministers and her and their families are in Stevid on a tour of the capital while talks continue. However trust has not yet been fully earned and secrets are still being kept from one another.
Military Intelligence Six, or more commonly abbreviated to MI6 who are concerned with foreign intelligence matters, openly revealed to the government, and then a day later to the public, about this tension increase between Kanami, the GDI and RedTide2 concerning the formation of these islands. The main argument being that RedTide2 subjugated the island they invaded into their own Empire and claimed as their own but yet the islands has formed a government with the other islands and seem to have totally ignored the foreign occupation forces and their puppet governments. This does directly involve Stevid too who also enforced the formation of a puppet government on Truce Island only to discover that the governments of all islands have banded together to form a new nation.

Although Stevid no longer has any military forces on Truce or even in the seas surrounding the islands, Truce Island is technically still Imperial territory. As far as Imperial protocols are concerned, defectors to the throne of this kind of en mass insubordination is punishable by reoccupation by force under Article 18, Paragraph 1, Sub-section 8 of the Imperial Doctrine enforced by Parliament and the Throne of Stevid. In theory, Stevid has the right to invade Truce Island once more and completely, if not illegally, annexe Truce Island fully into the Stevidian Empire and Commonwealth. However in this case both His Highness the King and Parliament agree that peace with Kanami and the stability of the nation’s military and economy is top priority and so Article 18 of the Imperial Doctrine has been overruled. Truce Island will not be invaded again by Imperial forces which are obviously needed elsewhere in this difficult time for the Holy Empire.

Stevid has yet to officially state its position on the subject but it is more than likely that the Throne will relinquish their claim to Truce Island and will hand it over to this collection of islands that call themselves a “nation” as a sign of peacefulness to Kanami and hopefully a signal to RedTide2 to do the same, however the Stevid government will not hide the fact that they have little or no control over the RedTide2 government and can only try and influence any decision going through the foreign government.

Only time will tell but it is almost certain that another war will not break out, only RedTide2 is powerful enough to carry on fighting. Kanami has suffered two military defeats to the hands of the Empire and her allies, numerous political embarrassments, and their economy is visibly failing to keep up with the loss of military units while trying to keep the budgets of their other departments going. Stevid obviously hasn’t faired much better, while it can still fight, invade and annexe Kanami into the Empire, the country could quite easily fall apart. The economy is only just on top of the Golden War of Succession but has consistently failed to produce anything but profit losses for the Hanover Conflict. The military, while enjoying the massive 20% budget increase over the next two years, is also dangerously overstretched and the threat to the homeland by the Golden Throne and the Merkar Republic cannot be ignored. Stevidian military units could be put to better use fighting that war rather than the Hanover Conflict that has lost all meaning whatsoever and has boiled down to nothing more than petty rivalries and national loathing on both sides. Exactly the same thing goes for Independent Hitmen who is Stevid’s closest allies and fights the same wars as them most of the time. Friends stick together. Peace is the only option here.

The GDI and RedTide2 continue to protest to Kanami that the formation of this new nation is even more illegal than the invasion of the islands, while Kanami protests that the GDI is becoming hypocritical of its own ideologies and chooses to ignore rules when it suits the alliance or when it isn’t in the alliance’s most powerful nations’ interests; a claim that is well founded and probably true but with no hard concrete evidence to back it up.

One thing is for certain though, a political war over the islands will continue to rage for many years to come, but it is safe to say that The Hanover Conflicts are finally over.

A Direct Response to the Situation from the IH State Department

It has finally come to our attention that this debate is still raging on about the legitimacy of this new union in the region. The President has expressed his wishes that the USIH makes its position entirely clear on the matter, and so this is what we have to say regarding the situation.

Firstly allow us to make clear the following pieces of information.

i) The United States of Independent Hitmen did indeed temporarily take control of Aurora Island, now under the jurisdiction of this union, but the Island was abandoned shortly after it was cleared of insurgents who might threaten genocide or other serious crimes.

ii) Whilst IH troops were present on the island it was counted as our territory, however with our abandonment of the area those claims were also allowed to lapse.

iii) The USIH has no problem with democratic governments, in fact we encourage them, but we do question whether this union is truly by these people or if it is merely a shield behind which ineffective Kanami control of the islands is being restored.

Secondly allow us to also make clear that we have a mandate to promote self determination throughout the world. Our methods to do this often come in many forms, with invasion and regime change being one that is used to ultimately benefit the people of said area. Kanami was deemed to be an inappropriate authority for these people and so they were removed and replaced by one that was deemed better suited for government, that we did not complete the process with IH troops still present appears to have been a retrospective mistake on our part.

We wish to make clear however, that the USIH will not be interfering in this region at the current time. Our policy stands, but some theatres take importance over others.

We hope that this makes our position better known and understood to the community at large.

—End—
