History
The Parthinian Federation and the Ekuur System have had a dynamic and turbulent past. Ekuur is one of the most interesting systems in the Diaspora Sector with its two young giants. On Ekuur, it is said the most beautiful sunsets and eclipses can be seen while the white beaches have become attractive locations for tourists and invaders.
The first human group to arrive was a group of Polynesians who were looking for a home similar to their own. They broke off from the Texans early off and settled the beaches. Being relatively far away from the center of the sector, it was thought that the area would be safe. They were quite wrong.
Several decades later, a joint Sino-American venture arrived near Ekuur. Looking for an already settled area, the venture was welcomed by the natives, who mixed well with the new arrivals. However, the commander of the expedition died under mysterious circumstances and his replacement immediately took control of the entire planet. For almost a decade, his iron rule caused much unrest and a resistance movement began. However, nearly as soon as it started, a new group arrived.
Piracy had become a big problem in the Coreward parts of Diaspora. Without a strong central organization like in Sol, Piracy flourished. So, while the residents of Ekuur quarreled, Piracy grew in the skies above. A year after the resistance began on Ekuur; a horde of pirates invaded Ekuur and took control, enslaving the entire populace. For nearly a quarter of a century, the three groups toiled under the even worse rule of the Pirate Kings (of which there were many, even in such a short amount of time).
The next group of invaders was another Chinese cooperation group, this time with people of Persian decent. This cooperation had found a good home in more central Diaspora, until their world was hit with a comet. Many were able to detect it, and fled. The group fled Coreward and landed on Ekuur, with the hope that their Chinese brethren would embrace them. Finding oppression there, The Sino-Persians invaded Ekuur and established a Kingdom there, crushing the pirates.
The new Kingdom acted in a very non-interventional method, with the King exercising power only when he saw fit. However, Chinese influence spread as Confucianism spread and took hold among most of the populace. Islam gathered a following as well, even though many still remained Christian. Ekuur split into many different principalities and the King ruled over no more than a loose confederation. While the times under the Chinese Kings were relatively peaceful, the individual states were at odds with each other and minor skirmishes were common. While relative peace lasted for nearly half a century, the last band of invaders finally arrived.
In 2267, the Parthini Expedition finally arrived. A colonization ship that was built on pre-Jump technology arrived at Ekuur. The population made up of Albanians, Serbs, Turks and some Greeks had grown to nearly a billion people, and were led by the Zogu Patriarch, who was now over 300 years old, Empyrean Zog, as he was called, had gained almost God-like status. There was no explanation for his extended life, other than the obvious divine nature, and all aboard worshipped him.
The Expedition had grown restless of overpopulation and cramped quarters and was glad to finally arrive. The Parthinian horde descended on Ekuur and swiftly brushed aside any opposition. Zog was then declared God Emperor of Ekuur. Zog quickly consolidated his control over Ekuur through Divine Decrees. He created the first census of Ekuur and instituted his tax control over it. He redrew boundaries according to historic and ethnic lines and put military governors there to crush any opposition. He also freed any slaves and established a basic healthcare and education reform to help the Ekuurian economy. He created a militia to hold control over the new provinces and created an advisory council made up of leaders from the various groups. He also kept Confucianism as the main philosophy, and was tolerant of other religions, as long as others remained loyal to him. He made Chinese script the official alphabet, but made no official language, so that all Ekuurians could read and write, regardless of dialect. Lastly, he, along with his advisory council, created a Constitution and the Empyreal Parliament of which the new Federation was to be governed.
In 2289, the Empyreal God Emperor Zog issued his last Divine Decree. He renamed Ekuur the Most Serene Federation of Parthini and withdrew from public life.
In 2290 the Empyreal Parliament issued several decrees. First of all, only those who had served in the Armed Forces could hold office or vote in Federal positions, as was stated in the constitution. Secondly, each province was allowed to govern itself according to its own wills and desires. The only requirements were that their citizens were required to pay taxes and remain loyal to the Federation. Thirdly, a bill was created to make a large Navy in order to protect Ekuur. Every year, Zog would make an appearance and declare that “It is good.” He would then withdraw back into private, divine life.
Several Navy Bills were passed and a substantial Navy was created. Attempts at creating closer ties with the neighbors also began, and colonization efforts began. With Raymore already populated, the Parthinians soon colonized the rich area of Bifirs and the substantially less well endowed and aptly named Feeble system. Contacts were also made with the people of Raymore2 with hopes of incorporating them into the Federation. By the turn of the Century, Parthini had become a strong entity, well established on the edge of the Diaspora.
