Vetaka
16-03-2007, 21:08
Theeb, Newman Island, Rogers Island, Vetaka:

It was a crisp, clear sunny day within the Vetakan Capital of Theeb. It was the middle of Vetakan Summer time and today was the perfect day for a conference. Theeb and Vetaka for that matter at the moment was one of the most secure cities and thus the most secure nations in the world. This was because the Vetakan Govenment did not want a repeat of the last Conference that was cancelled due to the Londim Incident. Vetaka as a whole was now at Defcon 2. The Vetakan 1st Battlegroup which consisted of a Naval Fleet, Army and Air Force had deployed right across the Vetakan Mainland. The capital itself now contained a total of 50,000 Security Forces 40,000 of these where Army Troops the rest where Police Officers. A large crowd had gathered in Freedom Square to protest against Slavery although this was peaceful. Vetaka was taking no chances the crowd had been inflitrated with SIS agents. Snipers watched from the roof and their was a heavy well displayed Police Presence including Riot Troops and Water Cannons however the Vetakan Govenment had also including the Crowds in their organization providing a Stage, Refreshments, Toilets and some Entertainment. The Vetakan Govenment in their fight against Slavery knew that the most important people in the fight where the people. Vetaka wanted the fight to be as fun, as safe and as relaxed as possible. However they still wanted the world to know this was a serious issue. In just a few hours time the conference would begin. Security was the highest it could be without declaring Martial Law. Nothing would destroy this conference.

Theeb, Presidential Palace, Vetaka:

The breakfast was almost ready the palace was clean and the red carpet was ready. The Vetakan Honourguards looked spotless and where ready to guard and protect. The Vetakan Cabinet to where also ready to greet and meet the Delegates. The first part of the conference was a Welcome allowing the delegates to get breakfast meet the Vetakan Leadership, take a tour of the President Palace and its arts, visit the grave of the late Great Daniel Pearce and finally those delegates whom had weapons could get them serviced at the world famous Presidential Palace Weaponsmith. Any weapon be it a pistol, knife or bow could be serviced by the White-Phoenix tribe weapons experts.

All that was left now was for the delegates to arrive........

OOC: Just turn up. This is just a welcome for delegates to meet and greet eachother. As well as meet the Vetakan Leadership. Those that are carrying weapons can get it serviced and cleaned by Weaponsexperts whom have worked with weapons using technology perfected over hundreds of years.

No terror attacks please security is to high and plus ive already had to abandon a conference. Anybody who wants to join in just register here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=520433)

16-03-2007, 21:40
The Vice-President of Adamta, Stephen Roberson, and Ambassador to Vetaka, Thomas Clark , have just gotten out the motorcade and are welcomed into the Presidential Palace. Both men brought their wifes with them. They are all in awe at the magnificence of the palace. They notice that the room is pretty empty. They must be the first ones there. And they see the Vetakan Govenments Cabinet, and go over to introduce themselves.

Christophe Jacobs, Head of Honakos Foreign Affairs Commission, hated mingling. He despised diplomats and their smug ways, boosting about their countries reformed education system or their oversized military. But, he supposed he had to endure it for relations. He turned up symbolising everything Honako; wearing a scruffy yet expensive suit and holding an overflowing briefcase. He could see by the vast empty room he had arrived far too early, something he had feared. He looked across the room and saw another diplomat talking to some Vetakans. Deciding against going over, he waited in a quiet corner for them to come to him.

Theeb, Presidential Palace, The Golden Enterance Room:

IC Adamta:

The Golden Enterance Room of the Presidential Palace was a marvel. Like most of the Palace it was built by the British during their occupation colinization. The Golden Enterance Room had been designed to be a grand enterance room for people of great importance. In recent times you either hated or loved the room. The Vetakan Cabinet stood in the room awaiting the arrival of the first delegates. It was long before the large doors swang open to allow a delegation of 9 people to enter. What looked like 2 couples and 5 Security Guards. They moved towards Vetakan Foreign Affairs Secretary Scarlet Rogers whom was a born Diplomat her skill lay not in her diplomatic manners it lay in the fact that she made people feel relaxed and not feel pressured to make a decsion because she was a diplomat. She was 23 years of age, blonde and very beautiful. She approached the Adamta Delegation smiled and bowed slightly before introducing herself she then began:

"Welcome to the Presidential Palace. I hope you have enjoyed your trip and are enjoying the wonders and great art of the Palace? Are you Hungry at all?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

IC Honako:

Roxanne Wright President of The Dominion of Vetaka. Was a strong women of 29 years of age. She was about 5ft8. had long brown hair and beautiful green eyes. Although extremely beautiful she had a strong will and even stronger will for her country. As the second delegate arrived he was alone and looked more like a buisnessman than a diplomat. It was a refreshing change. Roxanne smiled and approached the Honako Delegate she bowed her head and offered her hand to shake before straightening up and introducing herself.

"Welcome to the Dominion of Vetaka. I am President Wright I hope you have enjoyed your trip so far? Are you hungry at all Sir? We are serving breakfast in the Great Hall? Perhaps we could have breakfast together?"

Rene got out of the motorcade ; her personal assistant and her personal bodyguard Sam were with her; she had arrived in Vetaka a week ago for the funeral of the previous president with a full honour guard given the situation a wing of twelve F-22 Raptors had escorted her plane they now sat in the international airport. Rene had decided to stay and enjoy Vetakan hospitality. She was wearing a long black dress that showed off her ample cleavage; her merky blonde hair was loose and curled around her shoulders her hair seemed to have speckles of red in it as her face was framed by her glasses. The true picture of loveliness and elegance; she looked around to see if there was anyone around she knew sadly not it seemed. This was going to be a long day; she walked over to the table and picked up a glass of water sipping it slowly waiting for an opportunity to talk to the Vetekans.

IC Animarnia:

Georgina Lewis was Vetakan Secretary of Defence. She was about 5ft6 in height had straight black hair and wonderous blue eyes. As the grand doors opened within the Golden Enterance Lewis observed as the Animarnia delagtion entered the lead lady was beautiful. Lewis had listerned to Rene as the delegate was known at the funeral sing to Pearce she had such a beautiful voice. Georgina approached her and smiled before carrying on:

"Good Morning Welcome to the Presidential Palace but then again you have already been here one. I am Georgina Lewis Vetakan Secretary of Defence. I hope you are enjoying the wonders and beauty of the Dominion. Before I go on I must say that you have such a beautiful musical voice. I heard you at the Funeral im sure Daniel would of loved it. Are you hungry at all breakfast is being served within the Palace?"

OOC: How is the coup planning going?

She smiled; "Thank you; it is our song of death; in the times of old warriors would sing it when they went into battle expecting to die" she said with a slight blush; "I'm not one for singing usually but I felt the occasion demanded it"

"Our people treat death differently than most; we don't moan the passing of one, we don't become sad because they are gone; we celebrate there life, there achievements; we celebrate because they happened; they existed. Someone like Daniel deserved to have their life celebrated"

"Oh I'm Rene; by the way Rene Shondel, Vice president of Animarnia. It was rude of me not to introduce myself, Food sounds good, what do you have on offer?"

OOC: The Coup planning is coming along; theres going to be genocide and nukes ^_^

"I don't like this, sir," murmured the besuited man tailing the McPsychovillian delegate to the anti-slavery summit. As the Ministry of Homeland Security was always very fond of saying, the Armed Forces had played an instrumental part in cracking open the Strator slaving ring recently; it was quite a feather in their cap, particularly since it was accomplished in allegiance with the summit's hosting nation. "These people can't do security for shit."

Lawrence Harvey sighed. Simon was an ex-member of Special Unit Lambda, who specialised in "terrorist" incidents - in general, when a leader of a McPsychovillian enemy was killed, SU Lambda was responsible - but still hadn't got used to civilian life, or bodyguarding, for that matter. It was a government rule that every Senior Minister be accompanied on international visits by a cadre of bodyguards, and it had taken a lot of persuasion for the Prime Minister to accept Simon was good enough alone; the problem was that he wasn't making things easy.

"Are those windows bulletproof?" Simon remarked quietly, strolling back with a glass of water. "I think not, a goddamn rubber bullet could break them. I'm going to check the amphitheatre." The Senior Minister drank from his glass heavily. Maybe it was just professional pride, but former members of SUL were terrible for this, believing that nobody could co-ordinate security but them. Alone but for his glass, the Minister had little choice but to follow his bodyguard.

Strator walked into the palace followed by his elites. He walked over to the Vetakan cabinet.

"Nice palace you have here, very nice"

The reply was pretty much just a unified nod. He felt the diplomats from other countries glaring at him, but he did not care. He then spotted the refreshments and met a nice cold bottle of Stolichnaya. He signalled to his chief gaurd and told him that he had surveyed the surroundings and although it seemed like a frail palace, he felt that there was going to be no real threat to him at this time. The bodygaurds then gave him a bit more room and he let them relax a little more on duty. He had not seen all the delegates but form whom he has seen he could tell that they were not hiding anything. When one gets to have as many enemies as Strator, you tend to have an eye for planned assasination attempts.

Kenneth Monte and Louis Dryden both stepped out of their motorcades.

Kenneth or Ken Monte was the Minister of Labour. He is about 6 feet tall, with an average build, brown hair, blue eyes, and a trimmed moustache. His partner on the other hand seemed like his complete opposite, Louis Dryden, Minister of the People was barely 5'6" feet tall, slim build, with brown hair and green eyes.

They walked down the aisle, looking at the intimidating crowd and equally intimidating palace. They slowly make it towards the palace only seeing 4 groups of people, and what appeared to be the Vetaka greeting party in the large, vacant room. Despite their differences they thought of the same thing. Shouldn’t have came this early.

17-03-2007, 04:02
Having just arrived in one of the embassy's armored Limousines, Lady Tóriel the ambassador and Deputy General Secretary Christine Friedrich both approached the Vetakan Presidential Palace; a building the second knew very well from her first time here. "Well, the security here is much better this time around," she commented. The elven ambassador only shrugged in mute agreement; Secretary of State Rilir had been here the first time, and would know better. Fortunately at least Lady Tóriel had been the one driving, for sanity's sake, since there was time enough for the Ages-worn elven sense of control to do its work yet again.
Christine continued, "Come, let's find those White Phoenix weaponsmiths. You've got those daggers and I've got my new CZ-83 that need spiffing-up. Just in case, of course." She winked more innocently than she felt. Security here may be "better" indeed, but I'm keeping my guard up anyway. Her country still had its enemies, and her instincts long-ago honed in the furnace of guerrilla war told Christine she should expect attack from any direction at any time unless given explicit reason not to. That was why Wagdog's embassies were always as heavily armed as the local regulations allowed, and no less; sound precaution for her too in her mind.
Corbournne
17-03-2007, 04:54
President Ian Arthur Wexingfield was the head of state for the United Socialist States of Corbournne. He was a tall, slim man with short, well-kept dark hair and pale blue eyes. Though pale, their size let off an air of superiority about him, quite possibly magnified by his glasses. He wore not an extravagant uniform, but a simple, economic suit.

Ian stepped out of his Lamborghini Murcielago Coupe. It was of his own personal choice that he never rode in a limousine, as there was one available for his exclusive use in his garage. Taking a deep breath of the crisp morning air, he admired the Vetakan Presidential Palace before entering it, immediately making his way to the area where breakfast was being served, and he began to help himself.

"I don't believe it!" exclaimed Lawrence as quietly as he could. The arrival of the delegate from Strator was nothing if not perplexing; for that matter, a nation who was happy to allow slaving to go on with nothing less than the a governmental section had to making some sort of joke by sending someone to an anti-slaving conference.

"Sir?"

"Look!" The Stratorian delegate, apparently completely oblivious to the death stares he was being sent, was nibbling placidly on a cube of cheese. Simon narrowed his eyes, reaching inside his breast pocket; Lawrence reacted with shock before his bodyguard took out a pen.

"You want me to kill him?"

"No, Simon, there would be no advantage in a plan like that. I know you hate hearing it, but we are not the only people who can conduct successful security operations."

"You want me to get someone else to do it?"

Lawrence shook his head with faux-annoyance. Regardless of his bodyguard's seeming simple-minded devotion to killing, he had an esoteric sense of humour.

"Is there anything other than water at the drinks table?"

"Vodka?"

"I'll pass."
Honako

Theeb, Presidential Palace, The Golden Enterance Room:

Christophe Jacobs was somewhat startled someone had decided to come over to him and tried to start a conversation. Although the words she spoke were of the same old drone like greetings all these meetings had he thought she was extremely pretty, and the President, so trying to get out of this conversation would be foolish.

Jacobs always spoke bluntly "The trip was awful, no commercial aircraft were flying so I had to take some rusty plane that looked like it was built in the 30's. Honako is currently in a state of huge unrest, we have attackers on us and our leader is under hostage, it's remarkable I was even allowed to come to this conference..." He noticed the startled look on President Roxanne's face and decided to stop there "But I won't go into the details unless you want me too" He smiled politely.

"But breakfast would be lovely, especially in your company. I've been up for 32 hours, I need something to energize me."

Jacobs was pleased with himself. Perhaps this conference wouldn't so dreary. Though he suddenly had a reminder of what it was all about when he noticed the Stator delegate across the room, and the smile faded from his face.
Strator
17-03-2007, 13:07
Strator quietly laughed to himself as he saw a delegate and his bodygaurd eyeing him with hatred, he shrugged it off. For a leader of a country, Strator was known to be very skilled at hand to hand, he did rise to power through the violent armies of Kurpsegrad. He called over to his chief elite trooper.

"Keep an eye on the Mcpsychoville delegates bodygaurd, I can tell that he will not be able to assasinate me, but I better be on the safe side"

"yes sir!"

IC Animarnia:

Georgina Lewis smiled back at the Animarnia delegate and the Vice President of her Nation:

"Well we have put together a Chef Team for the occasion which comprises of Chefs from all over the world. So if you want somthing in particular 9 times out of 10 we probably have the skills on site to prepare it. However we have put together a Traditional Vetakan Breakfast Buffet. This is primarily an English Breakfast with Crossaints, fruit juice and fruit salad on the side. If you would like to try a tradtional Vetakan Breakfast meal then I suggest an Oatcake which is a type of Pancake made from Oatmeal. The oatcake can contain anything you wish from cheese to curry. It only takes a few minutes to make its up to you? If you like I could escort you to the Breakfast Hall?"

OOC: Oatcake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oatcake) view North Staffordshire

IC McPsychoville:

Vetakan Defence Force Supreme Operational Commander Jonathon Stone was the Operational Directive Head of Vetakas military. He was a towering man of 6ft7 with short brown hair and brown eyes. He hated diplomatic events but he was ordered to be here and an order was an order after all. During the Vetakan Civil War he had not only been a Top Commander in Pearce's Force he had Daniel Pearce's bodyguard and it was being a Bodyguard where his expertise lay. He watched as another Delegation entered he asked an aide whom it was. The aid informed him that it was the McPsychoville he watched as the 2 men entered it made Stone Chuckle one man was an obvious Diplomat the other was an obvious Bodyguard. The bodyguard was either very good or very nervous and not showing it. The bodyguard was looking everywhere looking at exits possible threats and generally taking in the height, weight, strength and weakness of everybody in the room. Stone decided to mingle he walked towards the McPsychoville delegate being sure to show his hands so the bodyguard knew he wasnt a threat. He smiled and then began:

"Morning Im Jonathon Stone of the Vetakan Defence Force. How are you finding Vetaka and its security? Are you hungry at all?"

IC Strator:

As the Strator delegation entered the room the beautiful Secretary Vetakan of Homeland Security and retired Bodyguard Rebecca Newman felt the rooms temperature dip slightly and then the thousands of death stares be thrown at Strator and his delegation. If looks could kill Strator and his Delegation would be dead many times over. Rebecca stepped forward like Stone she showed her hands by her sides to show she was no threat. She walked towards Strator smiled, offered her hand to shake and began:

"Good Morning welcome to the Presidential Palace how are you finding Vetaka. I am Rebecca Newman of Vetakan Homeland Security. Are you Hungry at all?"

IC Sendersdale:

Vetakan Secretary of Labour Daniel Sargeant wanted to meet one Delegation and that was Sendersdale the Sendersdale delegation was his counterpart. Daniel walked towards them smiled he offered his hand and began:

"Good Morning Welcome to the Presidential Palace how have you found Vetaka so far? I hope your enjoying us so far. I know what your thinking shouldnt of come so earlier. Are you hungry perhaps we could have breakfast together?"

IC Wagdog:

Vice President Jason Barber had been waiting for one delegate in particular to arrive and that was Wagdog. Altough Vetaka and Wagdog had no official alliance or even friendship. However Vetaka had developed a tremendous amount of respect for Wagdog and its people. As the Wagdog delegation arrived the Vice President headed towards them smiled offered his hand and began:

"Good Morning. Welcome to the Palace. I hope you have enjoyed Vetaka so far. Are you Hungry perhaps we can have breakfast together? Also how are things going with the New Nicksyllvania conflict? Is their anything Vetaka can do to help?"

IC Corbournne:

Vetakan Secretary of Domestic Affairs James Ferns had just finished his tea when the Corbournne delegation entered. James decided it was now his time to mingle so he walked towards the Corbournne delgation cracked his cheecky smile and began:

"Hello I am James Ferns Vetakan Secretary of Domestic Affairs. How are you? Welcome to the Palace and to Vetaka I hope you are enjoying? Are you hungry at all?"

IC Honako:

President Wright was indeed startled to hear what the man had to say. Vetakan Foreign Affairs had obviously missed Honako and had failed to brief her on the situation. However she smiled and went on as the two began to walk to the Grand Breakfast Room:

"32 Hours wow. Well please follow me to the Breakfast hall. Im sorry to hear about your leader. Im afraid Vetakan Foreign Affairs has failed to brief me on your situation. Is their anything Vetaka can do to help. I can have a Vetakan Special Forces team on the ground within 12 hours and a Military Force within 48 or perhaps Vetaka could donate somthing?"

She showed the gentleman to a seat and almost immediatly a waiter appeared and asked for orders. Roxanne ordered a simple Cheese and Bacon Oatcake (Vetakan Traditional Meal)

OOC: Oatcake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oatcake) view North Staffordshire

IC All:

As the delegates began to arrive The Vetakan Cabinet and Military Leadership met and greeted them. Some had breakfast together and talked. Some guided them through the Palace and on to the White-Phoenix Weaponsmith either way their was a sense of peace in the air. Hopefully Vetaka could capitalize on that could get a great conference out of it.
Strator

Strator turned around to face the person sent to greet him by Vetaka, he smiled at the amusing customs of these people. In Strator, you do kiss anybodies ass, You said what you had to say and did not play around with niceties, pretending to be friendly, that was what he loved about his creation. As these thought went through his head, he almost forgot about where he was.

"No, I am not hungry"

He saw a frown appear on Mrs. Newmans face as she was a bit lost for words and a bit confused, He simply turned on his heel and went back to talk to his right hand man, A01T72 No. 035.
Hamilay
17-03-2007, 15:04
The President of the Federal Republic of Hamilay exited the black SUV and entered the doors of the Vetakan Presidential Palace. He was a thin man in his early forties of middling height, with neatly cut black hair. Accompanying him were four others, two in plain business suits and two Republican Guards, in the white dress uniforms of a colonel and a captain.
Not bad, not bad at all, he thought to himself as he surveyed the entrance hall.
"Maybourne, are you sure you're allowed those in here?" he asked the colonel, nodding at the assault rifles the two officers were carrying, receiving a shrug in reply.
"Doesn't hurt, does it? I suppose I'll go and ask, then."
"Inform whoever you talk to that the Hamilayan delegation has arrived and is standing in the middle of the entrance hall with no idea what to do, will you?"
"Right away, sir," replied Colonel Maybourne, smirking and trotting off.
The President walked over to the drinks table and poured himself a glass of orange juice.

IC Strator:

Rebecca chuckled to herself as Strator walked away from her. Vetakan Foreign Affairs had prepared a vast file on Strator, his country and the customs of his people. Vetaka wasn't going to be all smiles. Vetaka wanted results. As a result she decided to try a different approach to Strator as a result Rebecca took a deep breath and shouted after him:

"WELL MR STRATOR IS THEIR ANYTHING AT ALL I CAN GET YOU?"

Strator spun around and glared at all. Rebecca walked towards him smiling and began again:

"Well is their anything I can get for you or do you make it a habit to be blunt and might I say damn right rude to your hosts? So is their anything at all? Might I suggest a free service for your weapons at the Palace Weaponsmith? Id be honoured to take you their?"

IC Hamilay:

VDF Chief Ground Commander Ted Harling was the Chief of the Vetakan Army he was enjoying a spot of Vetakan Rum when an aide informed him that the Federal Republic of Hamilay delegation had arrived. Harling decided to mingle he walked towards them smiled, offered his hand and then began:

"Good Morning welcome to the Presidential Palace and to Vetaka I hope you have enjoyed your trip. I am VDF Chief Ground Commander Ted Harling. Might I say impressive weaponary what are they? Are they firing ok? I would recommend taking advantage of our a free service and clean at the Palace Weaponsmith which is run by the White-Phoenix tribe they can do wonders using technology and skills developed over hundreds of years? I could take you their if you like?"

"Traditional English sounds good; I would assume this includes Bacon, Eggs and fried bread?" she started with a smile. She noticed the arrival of the Strator delegate but paid him no head he was of no concern to her though many people seemed to dislike his presence. Rene found the best way to annoy someone like Strator was to ignore them all together; thus she would not be rude or nice to Strator; he would simply exist and until he did something to gain her attention this state of affairs would continue.

She turned back to Georgina; "I'd be honoured for you to join me; My nation has a lot of sea food, its one of our main exports. In fact we have entire swaths of ocean around our coast as dedicated farms that we operate in cycles so as not to diminish natural stock. We export Lobster, Crab, Prawns, Cockles and all manner of fish; I have been enjoying Vetekan culinary delights all week I don't see why today should be any different" she took a step forward indicating she was ready to follow Georgina.

"Oh, just Hamilayan Guards standard-issue SCAR-Hs. Nothing particularly special. Thanks for the offer, but these guns are fresh out of the armoury, haven't been through much stress yet. I'm sorry, where are my manners? Colonel Maybourne, 1st Guards Battalion, chief of presidential security. A pleasure, Commander." He held out his hand. "Though I would very much like to visit this weaponsmith of yours, if it's not too much trouble?"

The President jumped as he heard a woman yelling loudly. He focused his attention on the voice's recipient, and with a start realised it was Strator. Well, if it isn't the man himself, he thought.
"Captain, keep an eye on that chap over there."
Strator
17-03-2007, 16:05
"I am sure that you understood my previous answer, and yes, I do make it a habit to be blunt and dismissive when my nation has just had its main importing industry shutdown because of some human right idea. If I wanted other peoples opinions on human rights, I would join the UN"

Strator saw some of the other delegate glaring in distaste but it was not much different from the glares he had received upon entering the room. In a way he kind of like the glares, he would teach them to fear him, but now was not the time. No. 035 clearly found Mrs. Newmans response to Strators "No" quite amusing, but then it was not his place to find anything amusing unless Strator told him to.

She showed the gentleman to a seat and almost immediatly a waiter appeared and asked for orders. Roxanne ordered a simple Cheese and Bacon Oatcake (Vetakan Traditional Meal)

"Hmm, I'll just have a croissant - actually, two" He smiled at the waitor and he left "Our situation is indeed dire, but for now we are not being invaded at least. We've been attacked by terrorists, had anthrax used on our people and even when trying to call a peace conference that has ended in disaster. Your offer is appreciated, and if Honako is in need we will certainly take you up on it. It would be good to establish diplomatic relations with such a respected country, or at least take your generous offer of aid if war breaks out again"

He looked around the room casually and began to eat the croissant. "I've noticed a lot of people seem to be mistrusting in this room, lots of guards. I'm glad Honako has come to this conference, puts us on the international stage against something that we have always disliked. I'll be very interested to see what case Strator puts up for his use of slavery"#

The Adamtain Vice-President and his wife, along with Ambasssador Thomas Clark have just gotten back from their tour of the Presidential Palace. The Vice-President kept saying that the Adamtain people would never let the government spend that much money on a building, then he would chuckle. When they came back to the room, they noticed that there was alot more people. Almost everyone was eating breakfast,so they dicided to go over and help themselves. Maybe talk and mingle with the other delegates. Then the Vice-President noticed the Strator delegate, he knew that Strator would show up but still.
"The nerve of that ass."-Vice-President

"What sir?"-Ambassador Clark

"Look at him he walks around all proud, thinking he is like everyone else here."

"Well they did give up their slave trade."

"Only because they got their ass handed to them. Lets finish eating and go see who is here."

The leader of the delegation extended his hand, put on his best fake smile and answered, "Ah, hello, hello, sir. I am President Ian Arthur Wexingfield of the United Socialist States of Corbournne. I am doing quite fine this morning, and the palace is beautiful." Turning his attention to the food, he replied, "Yes, I am quite famished myself, and would like to request your opinion of what you find to be the best traditional Vetakan food." Awaiting his answer, the President helped himself to a bottle of vodka.

Louis spun around to meet their greeters shaking their hands he answered, "Good morning, I am Louis Dryden and my colleague Ke-".

"Food? Nice, I'm Ken". Ken left Louis soon afterwards without a word, leaving the delegates looking quite bewildered and confused.

Ken has never been a man of small talk. He liked to get down to the point, and that was probably why his Ministry had been under a lot of heat lately. He knew he was only here along with Louis because the Prime Minister thought it would bring some good publicity into his department. He didn't think it was a good idea, but hell, not like if things would get worse for him.

An eerie silence fell over the three for a minute, god he couldn’t stand silence. Breaking the silence, Louis answered "sorry about that, Ken has good intentions; he is just under a lot of pressure lately. Fabulous palace you have here, when was it made?"

"It seems our Secretary of Homeland Security is in abit of slanging match."

IC Hamilay:

Harling turned towards the yelling Rebecca Newman and chuckled she was a 300 pound white girl whom listerend to a thousand miles by Vanessa Carlton she wasnt sombody to annoy. Ted turned back to the Hamilay Delagtion and smiled of course.

"Of course please follow me. The White-Phoenix are a native tribe of Vetaka they live in the mountains and are experts in weapons. Even if your rifles are new they could clean them or add somthing to them. If we go now they could even produce a new weapon for you ready for the end of the conference. So if you need a custom pistol or a new sword or rifle they can do it?"

OOC: If you say yes ill design it.

IC Strator:

"Of course Strator" replied a Rebecca Newman whom had just been shouted at by her counterpart in the control room. After all this was suppose to be a diplomatic peaceful conference.

IC Honako:

President Wright was shocked why hadn't Vetakan Foreign Affairs known about this awful situation. She smiled and ate her oatcake and then went on:

"Your presence here will hopefully allow you to develop your international influence. Anthrax how bad was the attack? Could Vetaka deploy one of its Hospital Ships to assist? The mistrust is typical this is second time we have carried out this conference the first was cancelled due to a serious security issue. Its amazing that we have manged to get Strator here for a second time. Hopefully we can get a firm stance by the international community to ensure a second Strator incident could be avoided. Im terribly sorry but would you excuse me im afraid Ive got a situation to attend to?"

IC Corbournne:

IC Sendersdale:

Daniel smiled and went on:

"The Palace was constructed in 1650 by the British whom made a colony here. The palace was built to be the residence of the Govenor-General after the Civil War the Palace was designated to be the residence of the President of Vetaka. Over the years we have extensivly developed the Palace increasing security and so forth. Are you carrying any weapons at all? If you are you might like to get them serviced free of charge by the Palace Weaponsmith whom are all tribes people of the White-Phoenix whom use skills and technology perfected over thousands of years? Its going to be a while before te conference begins so what would you like to do?"

"There are a number of tourist places available; our capital of Lilica is damn near smack in the middle of the countries mainland; having a large population ranging into the near 4 billion mark almost every major city is a Tokyo-esq. Metropolis every inch of space that can be used is used. It's challenged our engineers to start expanding our cities up as well as outwards."

"What are you interested I exactly? If I knew your interests then it would help"; she said with a smile sitting down at a table; "as for my stay here; its been very enjoyable your city has a lot of history and culture from what I understand many of the streets and buildings predate to the civil war?"

She turned quiety to the waiter and ordered a full english breakfast with a traditonal Oatcake with cheese; she expected something simular to a pancake

Deputy General Secretary Christine didn't hesitate at all to smile her Vetakan counterpart's way. "I've found Vetaka every bit as delightful as I did when first visiting, thank you. We most certainly may have breakfast together. Some of those oatcakes, yes?" She motioned to one table in the distance already being served; Christine had done her homework back at the embassy, and saw one of those rare chances where diplomacy and practicality meshed. "I do believe that the Eldarin diet can handle such; yes, Lady Tóriel?"
"Indeed Ma'am." Wagdog's elven ambassador to Vetaka curtly assented. "It should prove no trouble." Almost certainly not to a platinum-blonde as tall and stately as this edifice of a female was.
"Well that's settled!" Christine giggled girlishly for a second, before letting the grave shoe drop. "Currently there is scarce word of anything new regarding our fight against New Nicksyllvania, even the full results of our first battle off Zanski yet, so aside from giving notice that we will be exercising our full defensive options for our embassy I really can't specify. For now, Vetaka's neutrality and goodwill are more than enough for us, thank you. If we must ask, we shall.
"Let's go. After we eat and talk, we have some business with the White Phoenix weaponsmiths to attend." Christine addressed that quickly, really offhand; no sense in emphasizing what most already knew and ruining the perfect atmosphere about, now was there?

"The attack was vicious" He paused and took a large bite of his croissant "Over a thousand Honakon and allied forces dead, and equal that amount in citizens killed. God knows what damage they could of done if they attacked one of our cities, so we called a peace conference, I thought it was very comendable of us after the war crime they'd committed..." President Wright nodded thoughtfully but then excused herself and was quickly gone. Jacobs sat there picking at his croissant, waiting for the conference to start.

"Well then I will do so," answered Arthur, selecting what he determined to be the largest one of its kind on the plate. Before placing it in his mouth, he responded, "A tour would be lovely." While consuming the oatcake, he nodded his head in approval of James' choice, and, after ingesting it stated, "Fine choice. Now then, on to business, show me more of this fine work of architecture." With this, Wexingfield took a swig from the bottle of vodka he had held in his hand. Alcohol was one of his only vices, and it had incurred upon him quite a bit of trouble in his youth.

"Well, I have changed my pistol over to one of our newly-licensed CZ-83s," Although I still keep the old P-64 around for more 'personal' circumstances, even if not on me right now. Christine thought ruefully, and mischievously as well. "And Lady Tóriel here has two Noldorin daggers that could use a look-see as well. Again, after breakfast though. For me that will be a cheese oatcake; Muenster, preferably," she added. "And..." Christine knew that a human ordering for an elf, even if not necessarily rude, could have unpredictable consequences without enough information.
But Tóriel answered for herself. "I'd prefer a curry oatcake, actually." Wagdog's elves had grown accustomed to most of the nation's human food, even if sub-optimal for them often, but seemed to regard Indian and other Oriental cuisines higher than most besides the Celtic style. "And perhaps a honeyed one as well. I do love the various culinary tricks of Men, and they do seem to have grown over the Ages." She then sensed Christine's awkwardness regarding the broader 'situation' and handled the matter herself. "For now, diplomatic support would be the most we could ask of you in good conscience; not least since our military knowledge of the enemy is far below what we would even deem acceptable under normal circumstances. That is, hardly anything aside from their geography and some data about their forces which is alternately too specific, such as their fairly pedestrian anti-shipping ordnance compared to ours, or too general such as the usual military statistics you could find in any encyclopedia. And those outdated, we suspect." Her distate for that was very plain in her voice.
"Basic logic suggests to us they committed a fairly representative portion of their naval strength to their ill-considered intervention in Zanski," Lady Tóriel averred, since even the largest nations rarely fielded many more than two super-dreadnoughts and a dozen carriers. Rarely, if occasionally all the same; and now both of those SDs and all but two of the carriers were crippled at least, and hopefully sunk once word of the last missile strike's performance came in at last. "But no more than suggests. For now, we're safe from invasion as long as Nicksyllvania has to keep the Lone Alliance in check, so we do not fear that beyond what abstract possibility cannot be dismissed. Since our objective in this anyway is to force Nicksyllvania to the peace table, might your government be willing to host such once the time comes?" The elven ambassador naturally had more to say, but needed time to confer with her country's spies before she could do so with any degree of confidence, and adopted her sternest Eldarin reserve to hopefully mask this fact.

Rene nodded; obviously the civil war was a touchy subject; "I guess that explains the architecture" she said and accepted the change of subject. "Quite tasty" she said with a nod.

"As for sight seeing; as I said most of our cities are metropolis's having such a large population that we do has made us expand upwards as well. In fact soon we hope to start working on "multi level cities" these will put multiple levels on cities but this is just a theoretical concept. Around the coast of nation we have large scale 'floating' cities that double as airports. Our architecture is a mash of traditional Asian and British, which dates back to the nation conception as a bunch of tribes from different cultures and states united under a monarch. Which has since been striped of most power when the nation became a republic but we keep the Royal name in several things as sentiment particularly in the defence forces" she said

"Our nations has many sites; including Animarnia Tower; the tallest building in all of the county; Animarnia Military academy where the ASAS are trained; and several natural sites like the Great Caesium; and Eirhearts rock named after the first female pilot to travel around the world" she said pleasantly.

"As for food; most of our dishes are sea food, fish or noodles we also have a lot of rice and Chinese friend rice"

"Weapons? Oh no Ken and I don't have any weapons on us, this is afterall supposed to be a peaceful conference is it not. Besides, I have full faith in your security staff, Ken on the otherhand, lets just leave it at that".

Ken was the one who actually wanted Personnel Agents to come along with them, if it wasn't for Louis and the Prime Minister himself who told him otherwise. As the Prime Minister said, were trying to establish a good image for the country.

18-03-2007, 22:31
The representative form the Foundation of Terran Tribes was more then a little tired as he approached the conference area. His commercial flight had been delayed, then canceled due to what meteroligists were calling the worst hurricane to hit the Tribes in 75 years. So instead of riding 1st class in a 737 he had to make the half day flight in the cargo bay of a FTTAF military cargo plane. While unpleasant it wasn't anything new to him, he'd lost count of how many times he'd flown in one during his years in the service. When he'd finally arrived in Vetaka he had a run in with customs that annoyed him. He wasn't an overly impossing man, standing at 6'2" with brown curly hair and brown eyes. His beard was neatly trimmed and his clothes neatly pressed. The young woman shouldn't have had any problem with him, but one look at his FTT Expeditionary sage tunic and slacks and the polished short word at his side seemed to set off alarm bells in her mind. So security arrived and made a scene until he show'd his passport and credentials to them. Then it was all, "Sorry sir!", and, "Our apologies sir!". He'd assured them it was quite alright then preceeded to politely ask when he could be taken to the summit. That was the next big surpirse as it seemed that there had been some sort of snafu, as no one knew where the motorcaid was. Well, enough was enough. He quietly walked away from the airport officials and exited the terminal, hailed a taxi and the next thing he knew he was infront of the presidential palace.

He tipped the cabby well, got out of the car and walked up to one of the many guards be the palace's entrance.

"Mourning gentlemen, I am Antonov E. Westwind, representive of the Foundation of Terran Tribes. I believe they are expecting me inside..."

IC Corbournne:

"Excellent Vetakan Whisky is similar to that of Scottish Whisky except it is distilled for 6 years in Oak Casks suspended 40 ft into the air. Why its done 40ft up I don't know its just a tradition"

It took them 5 minutes to get to a large tower out within the Palace Grounds. The tower was a very old clock tower as they reached it James saluted two guards whom stood either of the large Oak Door. Carved into the wood was two words "Whisky Tower". James opened the door then entered followed by the Delegates what the group was met with was amazing as they looked up 40ft in the air was 4 Oak Casks. James pressed a simple button and one of the Casks was lowered using a pully system as it stopped James retrived two glasses from a shelf and then opened the Cask he dipped the glasses in filling them both then he handed them to the President and his guard he then smiled:

"Please try it?"

It didn't take long for them to get to the room where they sat down and the waiter took orders.

"Preferably a black bean curry would be best on my oatcake." Lady Tóriel minced no words in the matter. "If it seems strange, my apologies; but I'm as practicing a vegetarian as possible."
"Right." Christine quipped in before speaking up for both next. "And whisky? Please!" She knew her husband the General Secretary disapproved of it, but frankly she could care less right now. Seldom did diplomacy and desire match so well as this; much less for both women in the Wagdoggie delegation, even if Christine's expression thereof was far less decorous than the ambassador's would've been.
Some turkey needed talking though before they could get to drinking. "Our objective in the current war is only to compel the enemy to peace, since we're neither capable of nor interested in invading Nicksyllvanian territory; and the Lone Alliance and our GUSN allies, though possibly capable, are either uninterested themselves or holding back at our request, respectively. We're glad to hear Strator's obeying his terms, although we do have some word from our intelligence he may be plotting intrigue in Pavia to support deposed Emperor Tyler Van Stone. Again, we shall have to wait and see; we're taxed enough as is without adding him to our problems, again..." Christine decided then that there had been enough talk; time to eat already before more, otherwise she might lose her appetite thinking about the like of Strator or Emperor Van Stone.

"It is I who should be apologizing Madam President, my actions were brash and rude. My day hasn't been running as well as it could but that is no excuse for what I did. Hopefully you didn't lash the airport staff too harshly, screw ups do happen as I should know." Her sudden appearance had thrown him of balance as had her stunning beauty. He'd heard stories but seeing her in person... No, no. Keep your head on straight, your not as young as you used to be Antonov.

"Now, did you mention food? I haven't had something to eat for a while and I hear you have some of the world's best cooks on-staff."

"'Please try it.' I would never turn down a drink!" exclaimed the President, laughing. The vodka bottle in his other hand, he took the glass and raised it to his lips. Beginning to chug it down, he stopped himself, swallowed, and took a deep breath. "Now that's good stuff."

IC Animarnia:

"Your nation sounds like somthing out of Star Trek Id love to be able to visit at somepoint in the Future. ASAS is that a Special Forces Unit? How are you powering these giant cities? I assume you have invested heavily green energy and such?"

Georgina smiled she was really enjoying the company of the Animarnia delegation.

Rene laughed; "I guess it does a bit; we use lots of Solar Glass; nearly every building old and new, every sky scraper is fitted with Solar Glass windows that provide energy; and we've entineered crude Oil from Plankton for the things we do need oil for which significantly decreases our need for oil imports. bio reactors break down waste into furtolisor, biodeasle and in some cases actually produce viable electricity allowing us to take in rubish from other nations and use it on our national grid. the bulk of our energy is provided by Thorium Fisson reactors; damn near imposable to blow up and much more efficent than standard Uranium reactors though we are desting two demo fusion reactors"; Rene said simply. it wasn't often she got to discus home.

the "ASAS are the Animarnia Special Air Service; they are the elite of the elite fighting unit of our nation the Royal Commando's are the special forces; the ASAS take only the best they have a 98% faliure rate for applicants even thouse with 2 years of experiance in the Commandos, Some call them 'chosen men' because they will fight any enemy to the death. Sam my bodyguard was in the ASAS before being assigned to me after retirement from the regiment" she said quite proudly.

"most of the presidental guard are former ASAS; Ex-ASAS are sought after all over the world as consultants, mercs and everything in between though soon they will hopefully by Joined by Shinigami Regiment; an elite all female unit being commisoned to serve certain needs"

IC All:

The Palace mood was very relaxed with a hint of dislike for Strator. As the morning wore on and with all of the delegates at the Palace. The Palace mircophone system buzzed into life:

"Ladies and Gentleman I am pleased to inform you that the first presentation of the Conference is about to begin. Please will you make your way to the Grand Hall of Courage. For directions please ask any of the Staff or the Vetakan Leadership. Thank You."

Strator walked towards Mrs. Newman

"So I just walk into the great room of braveness and take my seat, you know, I wonder why the great room of braveness has a giant sign saying grand hall of courage?"

He could see that Mrs. Newman was slight annoyed at this comment and felt that would be enough as she slowly and rigidly nodded.

IC All:- The Dominion of Vetaka Official Position on Slavery:

The Hall of Courage was a massive place it was the biggest hall within the Palace. It contained decorative artworks and vast paintings of different scenes and people. Dotted around the room where circular tables and seats that where filled with various delegates. Some had headsets on so to translate various languages. To the left of the head table where The Dominion of Vetaka President and Leadership sat was a podium behind the table and podium mounted on the wall was a large HD TV Screen which at the moment showed a continous stream of pictures and videos showing Slavery around the world and through the ages.

Now all of the delegates where seated Vetakan President Roxanne Wright rose from her chair and walked to the Podium she stood a moment, gathered herself and her thoughts and smiled at the various delegates. A calm hush fell over the room and Roxanne began:

"Ladies and Gentleman my esteemd delegates from the world over Welcome to The Dominion of Vetaka and to the Presidential Palace I hope you have enjoyed your trip to the sunny shores of Vetaka and have enjoyed the nation so far. I am The Dominion of Vetaka President Roxanne Wright and it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Pearce International Anti Slavery Summit held and named in honour of the Previous Vetakan President Daniel Pearce whom was murdered within this very Palace.

We are all here together in this room and at this conference to find a solution to Slavery and hopefully get a general international consensous on the subject. First of all we must understand Slavery primarily what it is and what defines a slave?"

She paused and allowed the crowd to take in her words also the Screen behind her changed to show "What is Slavery? What does a Slave look like?" as well as a vast amount of pictures of people from around the world. Roxanne carried on:

"The United Nations defines a Slave as One whom bound in servitude as the property of a person or household. The Vetakan University of Helgan however defines Slavery as the practice of forcing innocent civilians to work and live under the direction of another person, nation, company or organization. Anybody can be a slave. The purpose of this segment of the conference is to present Vetaka's official position on the subject of Slavery. The Dominion of Vetaka under article 34 of the Vetakan Constitution prohibits the act of Slavery, it also prohibits any person to be enslavered while on Vetakan soil and also no ship or plane can enter Vetakan Airspace carrying people refered to as Slaves. Under Article 34 any ship or plane that does enter Vetakan Airspace or waters carrying such people the Vetakan Defence Force will engage to free them. The Dominion of Vetaka views Slavery as gross destruction of Human Rights and the basic of freedom that being the freedom to live and exsist. The Dominion of Vetaka views Slavery as somthing that needs to be abolished. Vetaka as a nation is doing just that."

She pasued again to allow the crowd to take in her words and also looked at Strator and smiled. The Screen now showed the words "is it really nessary?" Roxanne carried on......

"The Department of International Relations at University of Helgan researched just why slavery was so inviting as a possible industry for various nations around the world and throughout the ages. What they found was interesting the main down fall of Slavery is simple..... People..... At the end of the day your products is people in the end the enslave will run out of people. Then you have to find such contingencys as cloning which is not only expensive but unreliable. Another down fall is the fact you have to break a persons spirt in order to be a slave even then you have to guard them and ensure they work. All rather expensive eventually your costs are out weighing or closely the same as your profits. How much does Slavery make a nation? You might ask. Well Helgan University tried to uncover this however we unable to as most current and ex slave nations refused to release their figures I understand their position as a result Helgan estimated and we belive the average figure lies between 1-10 Billion NS Dollars based on an entity selling 500,000 Slaves now thats hardly cost effective now is it considering the average Aircraft Carrier costs around 7 Billion NS. Now where are you going to get 500,000 people from your own population perhaps? Yes but in the end you have lost 500,000 people those people could be working for you and paying Tax. The only strength or plus I could see from Slavery was that it allows a nation to remove an ethinc group whilst making money. Hardly a moral and noble reason now is it."

"Having said that I and The Dominion of Vetaka understand why many nations decided to use Slavery as an industry to prop up a failing economy. The Dominion of Vetaka understands that somtimes Slavery and immoral industries can be very appealing to a struggling nation. That is why tomorrow the Dominion of Vetaka will unveil an idea to began the fight to end Slavery in a manner that has all sides in the argument on the same team. This idea will be a number of protocals that every nation in this room will accept and promote and will be known as "The Freedom Charter" however I will go into more detail tomorrow regarding this for now we will here from our other key note speakers are their any questions at all? If not we will hear Slavery through the eyes of a Slave by Bridget Smith. Are their any questions?"

President Roxanne received some applause she similed and waited for any questions........

"Golddragons, shut the fuck up and let the lady talk!" There were a few gasps of surprise at the use of profanity, and Lawrence could only smile apologetically at his bodyguard's interjection. Admittedly, it wasn't too far from the mark, but most people were too polite to actually say anything. "I've seen your security, you couldn't defend a ward of coma victims!"

"Simon!" Lawrence whispered, although the whisper wasn't exactly necessary now. "Go outside, please, we're not here to cause trouble."

"But sir, I'm right!"

"I know you're right, I'm not disputing that. And yes, I know you could probably take both his guards, but that's not the point either. We're not here to make enemies, regardless of how weak they may be. Go."

Narrowing his eyes, Simon nonetheless left. "I apologise for the conduct of my bodyguard, everyone, there should be no more interruptions on his part," said Lawrence loudly, doing his darndest to reach everyone and failing miserably.

IC:

Vetakan Guardsman dotted around the great hall became tense. The Vetakan bodyguards suddenly had their hands in their suits to the bodyguards in the room they all knew that the Vetakan Bodyguards now had their hands resting on their Pistols. After all not only was the Vetakan President in the romm but so was most of the Vetakan Cabinet and High Command.

Roxanne's eyes narrowed she showed her sterness. Then she smiled and began:

"Now thats enough. Are they any actual Questions?"

As for the Vetakan Security Forces they relaxed a little but still remained a little tense after all this was a major Security Headache.

Rene Listened with great interest as the president outlined the positon on Slavery. several points jarred in her heard and she debated internally about wheather to bring it up; after all she was talking to a head of state. Sam smiled at the outburst from the one called 'simon' Sam was Ex-ASAS and liked to do things hard fast and with a high bodycount it was the way of the ASAS.

Rene; spoke up. "An Excelent speach Madam President" she said; "However you neglect several points which I will get to in due time; let me first state the Animarnian positon on Slavery" she began.

"Animarnia; its people, its government and its culture view slavery as the most dispicable act and concept humanity has every dreamt up and in an ideal world Slavery would not exsit. that said however; we also have reservations and concerns about using military action to forcably abolish slavery; war however justifed and warrented is never prefered; especially to promote democracy and freedom. can one truely premote freedom from the end of a gun?" she asked.

"Plus it is our understanding; that...though his laws were ridiculous the slaves in strator were to be executed if not enslaved. would the Vetekan president prefer to see people executed for nonsensical reasons over slavery?"

"Adamta doesn't see any reason for slavery, we believe it is a horrid act that is unjustified."

"Now, Animarnia there are reasons to go to war. Democracy needs to be spread it is the best form of government, it gives the power to the people, or would you want the people to live in a dictatorship where they are killed and enslaved?"

"As for Strator, would you want those people enslaved until they were worked to death, or killed because they didn't follow orders? If those slaves were executed then it was from the actions of Strator. If Vetaka didn't act then more and more people would have been enslaved and killed."

"While I agree with much of your sentiments concerning Strator's slaving practices I must disagree with representative Adamta's views concerning government", Westwind called out from his seat. "Democracy has its strong points as well as its weak points, the same as any other form of government. To force one form or another down some one else's throat goes against the principals of democracy and free choice."

"The sad fact is much of Strator's population seems content with the status quo, though that's not to say it shall remain that way forever.", he spoke, saying the last words while staring eye to eye with Strator.

"I believe that nations participating in the horrid act of slave trade should be offered alternatives to the practice and incentives to stop such trade. In the case Strator, said slaves acquire such status due to breaking laws that most of of find backwards and idiotic. Strator himself has said that the only alternative, according to his laws, would be to put 'slaves' to death. I must wonder if slaving nations with like laws have ever considered deportation and expulsion as alternatives to death and slaving these 'law-breakers'. At the same time the international community must work to make practicing slaver even harder and less cost-effective then it already is.", and with that the representative from the Tribes settled back into his chair.

"We in the United Socialist States of Corbournne believe it is not our business to spread democracy to other nations. It is a fine form of government, one we follow for the most part, as in we try to eliminate the negative aspects of it. But if another peaceful, humane nation is a dictatorship, no-one should have any right to do away with them and their form of government," voiced President Arthur Ian Wexingfield, rising up as he spoke. "Now, back to the topic, I think that I understand what Mr. Roberson is saying, but, as we all should know, stating you would give up your life is very different than actually doing it. On one side of the argument, you could say it is best to encourage slaves to boycott their servitude. On the other hand, if they do so, it doesn't solve anything if they are needlessly and unnecessarily killed."

"I agree there are reasons to go to war; but war is never the prefered option. and one cannot go to war simply because one deems a soverign government unpleasent if one goes to war simply to impose democracy are we any better than those who we claim to dislike?"

"and Of course I wouldn't want people enslaved; as I said; Slavery is the worst human nature has given us since the begining of time; but given the choice between slavery and mindless execution? Slavery is the better option because it still gives the option of thouse slaves being either bought by a nation who will free them or the posability of escape. one cannot escape an electric chair Mr.." she paused breifly to look at the name plate; "Roberson" she added.

"indeed the Terran Tribes Repersentative has hit the proverbial nail on the head; if we went around and 'installed' democracy in every two bit backwater pissant nation we would forever be embroiled in war. I don't negate the need for war but it is never prefered when avoidable; indeed the laws of places like Strator are petty and stupid by most civilised standards but we must encourage them to embace other forms of criminal managment instead of slavery and I am no certain that can be done under a jackboot"

This was exactly the kind of dialogue that Vetaka wanted to occur during the conference hopefully a general consenous could be achieved amongst the International Community and thus possible action could be taken. Roxanne allowed the floor to quieten before she responded:

"In response to the points made. No I or The Dominion of Vetaka would not rather see excutions over Slavery and we understand Strators reasons for slave trading what The Dominion of Vetaka intends to propose tomorrow is a relalistic approach that will attack the ideal of Slavery from all possible angles using Economic, Diplomatic and Military Sanctions as well as providing aid and support for abolishment activities in slave nations. Vetakan Military Forces recently replaced Wagdog troops in their occupation of South East Strator. We immediatly began to rebuild and repair Stratoran Infrastructure we are doing this not to brainwash or insight the population into a Democratic Revolt we are doing this so that Strator may replace its Slave Trading ways with legitimate economic means. For The Dominion of Vetaka the arguement is not the spread of Freedom and Democracy around the world the arguement is the that every person on this planet has the right to the right to exist in a fashion that does not harm their personal health. Im talking about women whom are not solved into a half-life of sexual abuse and rape. Im talking about men not being sold into a cursed life of work where they are forced to work until they are phyiscally incapable of doing so.

Jacobs sat whilst speaking and with an indifferent expression across his face passed his opinion on the room.

"Honako has had slavery abolished since our dictator was removed from his position over thirty years ago, and it is a touchy and frowned upon subject and practice in Honako - it's illegal and we do not do business of any kind with countries that use it. It is cruel and inhumane thing slavery, and in this case we support Vetaka in it's brief 'invasion' of Strator and it's attempts to turn it into a civilised country, though we feel that unless they are selling slavery or endorsing it on the international stage it is not our place to intervene. We are very happy to help Vetaka in rebuilding Stratorian Infalstructure, as Animarnia said, without deploying troops though"

"Basically I am just repeated other peoples opinions, but I thought I should forward Honako’s stance."

Jacobs only said something because everyone else had; he was a much better listener than speaker.
Aunesia
20-03-2007, 00:27
Elizabeth had sat there in silence, letting neither her posture nor expression reveal her feelings during the outbursts by some of the attendees, although she had raised an eyebrow at the outburst by one of the Bodyguards and had resisted the urge to clap. She rose to speak.

"Honourable delegates, friends and neighbours" she began.

"Firstly on behalf of us all, I would like to thank our Vetakan hosts for this conference, and the opportunity to bring a satisfactory resolution to the scourge of slavery once and for all," she paused for a small moment of muted applause aimed towards the Vetakan hosts.

"From the statements made on national attitudes towards slavery, there would appear to be a common consensus that slavery is an unacceptable breach of basic, inviolable and fundamental human rights. Slavery, by its very nature, goes against the accepted notions that 'all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights', that 'everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity' and that 'all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights'.

"The Grand Duchy of Aunesia certainly concurs with this; slavery is outlawed under our constitution and at no time have slaves have ever been employed upon our islands.

"Sadly however, a number of nations continue to profit from the trading of enslaved persons, or allow it to take place within their borders without regard for the complete lack of human dignity provided to the slaves whose plight they choose to ignore, whether out of apathy or otherwise.

"My good friend, President Wright of Vetaka, has begun to explain some of the reasoning used by nations engaged in slavery, to quantify their actions; namely that it is for economic reasons. It is claimed by these states that their economies would be negatively disrupted by the ending of the slave trade, or that their fragile economies rely on slave labour to operate. The view of Aunesia is that this is a fallacy. Indeed, even in the hypothetical case that this were true, human rights are inviolable. I therefore look forward to hearing tomorrow's proposals from the Dominion of Vetaka, and the debate upon them.

"I shall now address the point raised by a number of honourable delegates, regarding the use of military force in the fight against anti-slavery. I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment expressed, that military action should never be used as anything but a last resort, and that when used, it should be constrained to strict rules of engagement.

"It is my belief that military action would be valid in any of the following circumstances: an immediate need to provide protection to civilian populations from armed persons; to enforce a blockade aimed at preventing the transportation of slaves - by this, I mean intercepting and boarding slave vessels, with the aim of liberating the incarcerated individuals and arresting those engaged in slavery - and targeted military strikes against specific governmental buildings, military bases and such like, with the purpose of making the lives of the elite officials as difficult as possible.

"With regards to the statement by the delegate from Terran Tribes, I concur with his sentiments that 'to force one form of government down someone else's throat goes against the principals of democracy and free choice' - this is quite true. Indeed, for any nation where it is the will of the majority that an alternative form of governance is operated, no forced change of government is acceptable, as this goes against the principle of self-determination. There is however a caveat to this: human rights violations are intolerable at all times. The entire populace of human persons within a nation's borders have the right to freedom from persecution within their nation and the right to emigrate.

"At no time will the Grand Duchy of Aunesia condone the forced imposition of any form of government upon any group of individuals, or the removal from power of a responsible government acting with the consensus of its citizenry, regardless of its modus operandi. However, the Grand Duchy of Aunesia will never accept, condone or ignore violations of Human Rights.

"With regards to the statements made by the delegate from Animarnia, I would like to state my agreement with them that acting in a positive manner to encourage and support nations currently engaging in slavery to renounce this form of activity and instead look at alternatives, for example in criminal management, that do not limit the freedoms of their people, shall be much more successful than, as I believe it was stated, forcing change under the heel of a boot, or with a gun to their heads. I believe that tomorrow's proposals from our Vetakan hosts will be along these very lines.

"I would like to make my penultimate remarks to the envoy from Senserdale. As I have previously stated, the use of military force should be a last resort at all times, and should be carefully planned and managed if put into operation, with the aim of limiting suffering and casualties to any combatants. It is my belief that the Dominion of Vetaka, although I cannot speak for them, would act in the way that the Grand Duchy would, should we become engaged in military activity - that the use of force would be proportional and restricted to meet the needs of the specific security situation, acting under the internationally recognised laws of war - which call for the right to life of all combatants to be taken into account. Civilian disruption would be kept to a minimum.

"In conclusion, I would like to address those delegates seated here today who have come from nations where slavery is practiced, a number of whom I am aware have personally profited from the practice of slavery.

"By the end of this conference, it is my personal desire that you will agree to sign and enact a document outlining your commitment to ending the practice of slavery, and shall begin the process of liberating enslaved persons at the earliest opportunity. The signing, and more importantly the implementation of this will be a prerequisite to any assistance or support the Grand Duchy agrees to provide to yourselves.

She paused, before directing her most piercing stare into Strator's eyes, recognising his existence for the first time during the conference. "Failure to sign such a document will demonstrate your absolute and flagrant disregard for human dignity. This, I am sure you will agree, is: unacceptable."

Nodding to President Wright, who was chairing the debate, she sat.

OOC: If needed, Vetaka, you can skim over the rest of breakfast and the weaponsmiths trip. I figure my representatives wouldn't be late for something so important, OK?

IC: Watching from near the door, where she'd taken a seat after just barely making the speech, Wagdoggie Deputy General Secretary Christine Friedrich rose slightly and spoke herself. "Honored delegates, comrades in the struggle for liberty, the Aunesian delegation has stated our position on this matter completely." She fixed Strator with her own stare as well, letting him know just how low she considered him, even if he and his vile government could be... useful to her own's ends at times; as when his forces had covered her evacuation from the last, failed conference attempt. Naturally better keep that to myself, of course. Christine kept her body language as poised as possible with that thought in her head as she continued.
"We would have been so precise in our own war against Strator when all this began, as the outgrowth of our support for a covert rescue attempt by Southern Colombian forces that alas became compromised, but we were caught in the midst of a modernization drive for our forces and had to use what means were available. Fortunately, Strator realized at the time that his only option to avoid annihilation as a ruler was to surrender; and that the best terms for such were going to be ours, for we anticipated the basic outline of Vetaka's points regarding why some nations rationalize slavery to themselves whatever their true reasons for indulging such antediluvian sadism." She caught her breath once more before wrapping.
"In short, we await Vetaka's scheme in this with much interest, and applaud the fine company joining us in so." Christine flashed her best 'baby-kissing' campaign smile; not that she'd actually had to use it since some decades ago, back when she looked a girlish 24 years old instead of the more mature 29 she appeared now thanks to her bizarrely-slowed aging. Demurrely sitting, she waited for what other comments might emerge.
Sendersdale
20-03-2007, 03:39
The setup was brilliant. Yes Hall of Courage was majestic in its beauty, but it was President Wright's speech was stole the show. Hell even Minister Monte seemed attentive, and that quite a feat in itself.

Minister Dryden stood up and spoke up:

"The Dominion of Sendersdale abhors the use of slavery in any nation; in fact it is outlawed in the entire Dominion and her colonies. Despite the wonderful speech, some things seem to remain unclear to us.

In regarding the methods used by the Vetakan military. When you engage those who practice this vile act, will they be killed? Because if they are, that seems like a contradiction of Sendersdale ethical code which I am pretty sure many of us share. I mean sure we are freeing those from slavery, but at the cost of those oppressors right to live? They may be terrible people sure, but they have should still have every basic right available to everyone nonetheless.

Secondly, can you possibly elaborate about this plan further? I don't expect full details as there a lot of time tomorrow. I hate to bring up financing and slavery together in one sentence, and in a utopian world, there wouldn't be a need to even do that, but unfortunately in our reality, these two subjects are bound to collide. Can you tell us if there will be financial commitment which participating nations should pay, and if so, about how much should be expected from it?

Although we agree with the occupation of Strator, we also believe that military action should only be used as a last resort on our every going war against slavery. It is Sendersdale's belief that any engagement between two nations regarding this topic would lead to the deaths of many people, including innocent civilians and the slaves themselves. In the end, we are liberating those oppressed, but at the cost of another’s right to live? This seems like very poor compromise, if an alternative option is available. Do not get me wrong, the Dominion would not hesitate to engage a country which still practices such barbaric acts, but only if a compromise cannot be reached”.

IC All: Slavery through the eyes of a Slave

The Conference debated the issue intially before once again falling silent. President Wright Smiled and then carried on:

"Ladies and Gentleman Their will be plenty of time to debate later for now we will hear second of our three speakers. It is an honour to present to you an insight into Slavery on the ground through eyes of a person whom has been through it all. Please welcome to the chair Miss Bridget Smith."

A lady of about 21 rose from the head table and made her way to the raised podium. She was flanked by 4 Guards whom when she reached the Podium Flanked the podium. She wore a smart ladies suit with a white top. She was about 5ft5 and had beautiful red hair and blue eyes. To the crowd she was visibly nervous as she reached the podium the President Smiled and gently reassured her and then went back to the head table and sat down. The girl at the podium took a moment to take it all in, made a small smile and began:

"Delegates my name is Bridget Smith and I am pleased to say I am a free person. I was a slave within the Dominion of Strator. My enslvaver sits at that table their drinking."

She pointed and glared at Strator before carrying on:

"I escaped my dictated future by escaping aboard a Vetakan Cargo Ship when I was found within the Vetakan Port I am pleased to say the Vetakan Nation accpeted me and granted me citizenship. However I will never forget the horrors of my previous life. I have witnessed first hand girls somtimes as young as 12 being sold into a cursed life of Sexual Abuse and Rape by a man whom only cared about being paid. I have witnessed men being so tired that they are unable to claim a flight of stairs because their feet ache to much. I have witnessed familles being spilt up never to see eachother again just so Mr Strator can make that extra Dollar or make up an Order. Now I have a direction question to my Enslaver which I hope he can answer during his Presentation later today. That question is What gives you the right to decide that I am an owned soul and not a free one? Strator attempted to justify his Slave Trade by announcing that all "Criminals" where be enslaverd rather than be executed well my response to that is a simple question "On What charge was I enslaverd then?" I never had charges formally brought against me by the State of Strator I was enslaved because I was attractive, had a good smile and would make sombody a good Sex Slave. My girlfriends where enslaverd for the same reason and My boyfirends where enslaved because we where fit enough to work. Now I ask the international community Is that Right? I accept that a nation should not get involved in the domestic affairs of other nations but what right does a nation have to enslave its own populace on the basis that one women would make a good whore in a forced brothel and that one man would make a good worker in a mine? Somtimes the international community must take action against such scum as Strator I thank the forces of Wagdog and the allies whom liberated me.

She took a deep breath and then turned to face Strators Table:

"You sit their mentally justifying your actions and preparing to defend yourself when the time comes for your Presentation but when the Sun goes down and you go to bed at night You must live with the dreams of a thousand screams of people whom have suffered at your hands. You may think that brings respect but to me and the people of this globe your nothing but a bully".

Bridget stopped herself before she said to much turned to face the rest of the Conference and asked:

"Are their any questions?"

Strator laughs a little in his head, he turn to No.035

"hehe, do you think they did the research?"

"no, sir"

"its kind of funny, if I beleived in all of those performing, her test results would have gotten her a good job"

"do you think they will beleive you, sir"

"I doubt they will, she is a smart one, I wish I could have done all of that, but I knew that it would make me lose profit and also get the slave trade removed to quick"

"bridget, weird name for a person from Strator, I wonder where she heard it"

Strator smiled as he saw all the delegates looking at him as he spoke, he could see their hate as clear as he could see them.

Elizabeth had sat silent during the speech by the freed slave. Miss Smith had allowed herself to become far too emotional, although it was fully understandable being in the presence of Strator. She regarded him again, noting the looks and stares he was receiving from other delegates, looks of anger.

Personally she refused to let the spineless little worm get to her. There were many such individuals she had come across during life; indeed, he was unlikely to be the last. No...she instead considered him merely in a collected, clinical manner, with disdain. He was not of consequence - his time in power was certain to be limited, and would undoubtedly end in his disgrace and probable death at the hands of his own people.

President Wright stood from her seat and spoke:

"The Dominion of Vetaka feels criminal charges brought against Strator at this time would only intensify and worsen an already sensitive situation. Perhaps in a few years to come yes Charges could be brought against him. However we must say that Strator has co-operated to a good standard with The Dominion of Vetaka on its current occupation and peacekeeping mission within the South East of his nation. No this doesn't make up for the crimes committed however it does demonstrate progress."

"Does anybody have any direct questions for Miss Smith?"

Roberson stood up and looked directly at Strator,

"I have a question for the forces who defeated Strator, why were there no charges against humanity brought up on the leader?"
"Simple," Christine Friedrich answered Roberson without a pause. "If that were done, no doubt loyalists of his would arise and make any occupation of his lands to enforce the surrender either hellish at best, or impossible at worst. If he were convicted and executed under these charges, no doubt some believers in his cult of personality, his title being the 'Almighty' Strator after all, would make a martyr of him and reinstate his onerous laws just as soon as the coalition got tired and left." She didn't like the probable fact she stated, but there it was all the same. "So let's show him for what he is, a captive and vulnerable ruler instead; every bit as mortal and fallible as we have exposed him to be. What matters is that we achieve the end of slavery in his realm on a lasting basis; and doing so ultimately requires that it be perceived as a Stratorian idea, rather than a foreign imposition."
While her elven companion Lady Tóriel nodded in mute agreement, even though she clearly was a bit preturbed about having been beaten to the punch by Christine, the Deputy General Secretary sat down and decided to let her words speak for themselves. Hopefully that was sufficiently obvious a point that making it won't become a sticking matter in the discussion, she thought sardonically...

"Yes Miss Smith; I am aware of what slavery involves; it is the total lack of control over your own actions and Agree that this is a horrid act of humanity and shouldn't be vested upon any sentiant living being; but my question refered more to your own personal experiances than the generalision of the defintion of slavey." Rene clarified; curiosity perked in her was Miss Smith confused or simply avoiding the question.

"I understand that life as a slave is unpleasent; but if we as people are to recomend this charter to our respective governments to sign on to; and if we as nations are to put presure on slaving nations they as well as we must understand how this is wrong or this charter will be nothing more than our nations invading and destroying every slaving nation and nothing in the long run will change for one cannot impose change; one can decree all the laws one likes but cannot change the way people think. I think your own personal experiances are the best way to help convince them of this Miss Smith; for them to see from your eyes they must know how you are effected by Slavery, they must see this is wrong" Rene Added still pretty much ignoring Strators Presence

Bridget was starting to really hate public speaking she began to shake and mumble she pulled herself together and then began:

"I don't expect the International Community to Invade every Slave Trading nation. Want I hope will be the outcome of this conference is that some sort of International Consensus can be acheived to start the fight against Slavery on a diplomatic and political level."

It was then that President Wright Stood and saved Miss Smith as it was becoming clear that she was becoming distressed:

"Thank You Miss Smith. Ladies and Gentleman it is my pleasure to present the otherside of the coin and story as it where. I present to you a 30 minute presentation by Strator. Perhaps this can give insight into the attraction of Slavery to National Leaders?"

OOC: YO YO Strator take it away
McPsychoville
21-03-2007, 10:31
"Why not?" called out Lawrence, standing up. "Why should we not invade nations who see fit to trade humans like cattle? We ourselves have been doing our part, but think what an alliance of this magnitude would do to those few nations who still engage the horrible practice. Maybe it wouldn't convince these moronic governments that it's not a good business practice, but a rain of explosives should do it just as well."
Strator
21-03-2007, 10:39
Strator smiled

"Because you value human lives, an act like this would kill millions, slavery is an age old custom and cannot be wiped out so fast, it would be much better to do it in a slower and more thorough way"

He saw that some of the other delegates were suprised that he spoke, but he was used to the ripple of shock going across the room, it was like he was doing some magic everytime he sneezed or scratched an itch.
McPsychoville
21-03-2007, 10:49
"Kill millions to save many more millions," retorted Lawrence. "Doing it in a "slower" or a "more thorough" way is pointless - if I remember rightly, moving in quickly worked well enough with your slaving ring. And assuming other governments aren't as moronic as yours, they'll see the lengths we're prepared to go to. How many are prepared to keep trading in humans when they see the price they'll pay for it."
Strator
21-03-2007, 11:04
Strator held in a laugh but smiled Arogantly

"Do you really beleive that?"
McPsychoville
21-03-2007, 11:09
Lawrence smiled wryly, laughing inside at the arrogance the Stratorian delegate displayed. "Absolutely. Despite what some people say, the universal language is not mathematics, nor science, nor English - it is force. If you point the barrel of a gun at a person, he will understand what you mean and be threatened by it. if we were to point the barrel of a 115 million-man gun at just about any nation on the globe, they will understand the lengths to which we are prepared to go.

But I'm all about alternative viewpoints. So explain what your slow and steady approach would entail."
Strator
21-03-2007, 11:24
"Simply pressure them from it, I was about to drop the slave trade because of all the other trade I was losing. I personally am not one to fling my weight around and impose my opinions on others with theats empty or not"

He thought to himself that that was because he did not have a big enough army yet, but one day he will rule the world. He then sat down and asked for Vetaka to resume whatever is next in the program.

21-03-2007, 12:04
The President had been silent up until this point, but he rose and raised a hand questioningly.
"Um, if I may have a word in edgeways? Whilst the Republic has no objection in principle to more... aggressive approaches proposed by the honourable McPsychoville delegate, we feel that committing to this in practice through a binding charter would be biting off more than we could chew. Whilst subjugating small, outnumbered nations is all very well," -here he directed a barely noticeable glance with a hint of a mocking smile towards Strator- "we must remember that a significant number of regimes practicing slavery are large and heavily armed, such as the likes of the infamous Kraven Corporation. The consequences could be very nasty if complete opposition in a military sense was declared to the practice of slaving, regardless of its abhorrence. One only needs to observe conflicts in Zanski and elsewhere to see the results of loudly proclaiming 'war on everything'."
He sat down and took a swig from a bottle of water.
Strator
21-03-2007, 12:10
Strator smiled, he then looked at the McPsychoville delegate and had himself a little laugh

"would it not be very sad if when you were at war with a big slave trading nation, several nations took advantage of your situation and attack you?"
McPsychoville
21-03-2007, 12:36
"They could do that, undoubtedly. Then we might well, as they say, "be fucked". That would, of course, be contingent on us deploying the entireity of our Armed Forces to one conflict and leaving nothing behind for defence, but let's ignore that for the sake of making your point. It would also depend on us having absolutely no allies willing to come to our aid, but again, we'll ignore that for the sake of your point. Wait a second, that doesn't make sense because that'd never happen. Take your veiled threats elsewhere - either stop making them or at least have the guts to make an open threat."
Wagdog
21-03-2007, 12:41
The Wagdoggie ambassador to Vetaka, Uthiria Tóriel Lathíriel nós Farlond, or usually just Lady Tóriel rather, knew the reason for her presence here had come. Though such might be entertaining even to her, blows could not be allowed to erupt between Strator and anybody else here; aside from perhaps the VDF security personnel. A neutral voice was urgently needed; and few could put such oomph, as the Humans put it, behind staid neutrality as a Grey Elf. "May I remind our esteemed guests that first, it is Strator's allotted time to present his opinions on this issue, however offensive and ill-informed most of us may deem them or no. As I recall, this was not to be a question-and-answer section until after he was finished; correct?" She let that sink in, adopting her maximum platinum-blonde hauteur, before continuing.
"Furthermore, if we may, my delegation has just this more to say to Ms. Bridget Smith for our part in this: Thank you. You have illustrated in the starkest terms possible the depredations of slavery, as foul an affront to Free Persons' dignity now as it was in my people's Age proper; when pioneered upon captives of my own people under the Great Enemy, Morgoth. If only you had not needed to suffer such penury yourself to gain this knowledge you teach us with; had not needed to face you and your friends being violated so utterly, and repeatedly." Her tone was all compassion, a marked shift to velvet from the steel she had reserved for the feuding Stratorian and McPsychoviller (OOC: SP?) delegations. "If there is anything you require from our government to help you heal, Miss Smith, simply ask. It shall be provided at once and without delay, by my command as the USSW's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in this country. It would only be the merest token of our full gratitude, which cannot be expressed in words."
Lady Tóriel then fixed Strator with a peculiarly Elven look; not hostility as such, for she sensed she could dispatch him with no undue effort if such were called for, and thus that she'd be wasting her anger in expressing it his way; simply the sort of look that a bug must perceive when pinned under a magnifying glass. Utterly exposed, to utterly pitiless eyes. And then, with all the regal grace of her kind, the elven ambassador sat down and awaited for the despot to get to his point; assuming, naturally, that he did in fact desire to like most of his kind in turn.

"If I was Bridget I would view it as foolish to reveal my real name. She may have family back in Strator, and considering your regime is particularly bloodthirsty I would not be surprised if you'd go and find her family and enslave them, if they are not already. Please, Strator, tell us your stance on slavery - I'm intrigued how you plan to justify it, of course without 'we'd rather enslave them than kill them excuse' because that just silly isn't it? Antonov leaned back into his chair and watched as Strator took the podium. A large part of him wanted to simply snooze while Strator spoke but that would be untactful. At least this portion on the conference would be interesting. His eyes, none the less, began drooping lower and lower, until all of a sudden... A loud beeping filled his head. Eyes snapping open he glanced around the room, drawing raised eyebrows from a few bodyguards, though the other representatives seemed oblivious. He was at a loss till he recalled the earbud he was wearing. Nonchalantly, reaching up as if to scratch his ear, he flipped it on.

As the excited voice on the other side of the radio rapidly spoke Antonov's eyes widened. So, a failed nuke attack, war, and surrender had all happened and no word from our host? Part of him wanted to say something, but why stir trouble. She probably is just a little desperate to make sure THIS conference goes through uninterrupted. No.1365 was enslaved for starting a minor riot and insulting members of the government including myself. No.1365's records show that she was a good actress and had been punished several times in school for lying to members of that particular schools staff. She also good grades in english and persuasive writting, she was what some would call "a good politician". So Mrs. Smith, do you denie these statements? In response to the accusation of letting slaves be abused, as you know, I was selling them into slavery to other countries as I do not allow slavery in my country, so why would I allow them to be injured when I needed to sell them? "The chance of a new life is better than dying, I myself was a slave once. I did not want to die, although I did not like my life as a slave. -------------------------- THE DIAN CONSTITITUION---------------
CORE VALUE

Society, this is what we are willing to work within. This is what I have learned about life summed up on what I think is best for everyone, my code, and the ideal of how we can make a functioning society. ICCD is the body and in working in society around the world various cultures will have their expectations.. when dealing with capital societies, with laws of militancy Intracircumcordei is the basis of all actions of our society.. a secret society of sorts. ICCD - Our society.

The Sovereign State of Intracircumcordei and Our Founding Law.

Our purpose is to insure everyone can live their lives to the fullest.

Intracircumcordei-

PRINCIPLE: Economic power is utility, military is the boundary, and art is the memory. Power comes from art, passed to militancy in an attempt to uphold a value, then into the accepted social systems giving form to the economic trends; that is the basis of social support. Intra-cultural identities develop demilitarized societies which entomb militarized requirement. The economic system mitigates the political class who speak for the value of art. Art spoken for becomes culture. Militant factions align with their choice of proponents for culture. (Art as anything.) Socioeconomic drive determines social requirement. Art is valued when it demonstrates values of wealth and its creation. In a healthy society valued art increases creative physicality. Survival is the key, with our vitality being socioeconomic growth and refinement of faith. Wealth is created for us. Everyone expects belief to hold true. What is expected? What are we not concerned about? What will not happen? Do we look at possibilities? What are the possibilities? I can only speak of myself with my impression. We can only speak of ourselves with our impressions. This is our society.

PREAMBLE: A real question exists as the capability for us to minimize tension in a non-uniform world. Our intent is to facilitate our belief for the exercise of our will. It seems understandable that claims to portions of all the world have been made and are enforced with militancy. Ethical borders and boundaries are stated, and although we do not recognize full sovereignty of any of these bodies, due to falling short of the truth of sovereign society, that without boundaries, that without war, we do understand that these parties may seek destructive methods to enforce their will. Understood is the folly of humankind to seek division and difference, coloration of emotion to personal perspective. If the target of militancy and unable to recognize the damage to our wealth, how are we to maintain? The question is a matter of how we perceive our values. To place value on life is the highest regard however to commercialize on human emotion in any dark tones seems to betray humanity, and humanity is our highest value. Intracircumcordei is a social humanist state. We feel that due to forces which seek to subdue our human expressions, those of totalitarian and tyrannous forces, our safest measure is to operate as a "secret society" with only those who are in our society to actively interact in this structure. Those who are sovereign individuals should know and understand our mutual pursuit aspiration and being in social humanism and that we are all our society, Intracircumcordei is nominal and granted by the fabric of existence, nominally and in spirit. It is when we all know; we cease to be a secret society and may openly without persecution, operate as an open state recognized by all, recognized by ourselves.

Constitution: All individuals are equal and free. We all make our choices for what we see as the best thing. Our politics allow us to see common interest and to create forums of like minds. With time these forums may be able to act to put into effect projects that we as individuals may not so easily accomplish. It is the basis of these councils that allow us to have greater vision and capability. In the need of organization for effectiveness in a timed environment we create structures which serve an ongoing joint culture, that of our society.

ICCD is a self recognized sovereign entity.

Deputy General Secretary Christine Friedrich knew this matter would need addressing eventually, so she decided to get to it as gently and forthrightly as possible. She asked, "Although we do not consider it 'slavery' as such, we must ask your opinion on penal labor under these accords before we can sign in good conscience, Madam President; since we do operate that within what we deem humanitarian limits, in order to save our prisons for pre-trial or (in capital cases) pre-execution detention. Said limits are as follows...

The term of sentence may not exceed 25 years under any circumstances (and is usually far less, rarely more than a year or two for even moderately-serious offenders);
Such sentence may only be rendered in place of a fine if the defendant has no reliable means of payment for such (and a fine alone must be levied if they can at all pay);
The convict so sentenced may only be employed in the state economic sector, and thus neither subject to nor at risk of sale or barter of any kind;
They must also be allowed unconditional rights to a personal income and life restricted only by house arrest or halfway-housing (for violent offenders);
And they may not be forced into military service (so-called "penal units" as used by some nations) or other patently life-threatening labor as part of their sentence.

"In essence, what we do could be considered a more severe version of most nations' 'community service' sentences, and is so by us. But we will not presume to know your opinion thereof before asking, of course.
"Would this aspect of our penal code contravene the Accords, ma'am? Though our own laws, do note that we would be willing to entertain reforms or more to them in the spirit of these proceedings, if our human-rights provisions seem inadequate somehow; although as with any legislation, that would require debate and passage accordingly by our National People's Congress first. Again, we disclose these facts about our justice system in the spirit of cooperation and honesty that made this great effort possible..." She gulped after finishing. Time for the shoe to drop, girl. And so she waited...

"We too operate a similar system to our WagDog counterparts; where prisoners are expected to endure hard labour for their term in prison, they are not slaves as they are paid credits for there work which they can spend inside the prison for food and luxuries while in prison. We find this helps with rehabilitation"

"We have also bought prisoners from other nations in the past; these usually go into our military where they serve a maximum of 6 years as fully paid soldiers not as slaves or penal units. After which they are full Animarnia Citizens as the only way for an immigrant to become a Citizen in our nation is to serve in the military for a tour of duty"

"Capital offences such as murder, Rape and Paedophilia are punishable by death. You may question the morality of such punishments but the figures speak for themselves since introducing the capital punishment Rape cases dropped to a mere 10 per year and paedophilia to almost zero. When people fear a justice system they do not commit crime. Of course some of this can also be attributed to the promotion of safe sex, legalisation and thus taxation and regulation of prostitution etc. Sweden have proven that an open sexual state is a safer sexual state"

"Of course, our laws arn't so stupid as to send someone to the chair for talking to loud" she added on sarcastically

"The Foundation of Terran Tribes also shares concern over a number of areas in these articles. Like the honorable Representative Wagdog and Representative Animarnia we fear our own legal system may clash with articles. We too use a system of penal labor on our felons following these guidelines:"

Terms issued must be proportional to the crimes committed as judged by the peers of the convicted.
No Term is to exceed 30 years of labor.
Convicts will retain limited rights as defined by the Foundation's Compact.
Convicts will revert to their pre-conviction Enfranchisement level, as their penal labor will not count towards Enfranchisement.

He let his words sink in, also hoping that there would be no problems.

Having been silent since his arrival, the Kryozerkian delegate who arrived a little late due to visa issues, rises to address the summit.

"We feel that there is a lack of unity with the proposals. While all are good and have their strong points, there is one area where there is something lacking and that is with unity.

"The Slave Trade Union would profit most from a lack of unity amongst those of us who oppose it in its current forms, and any future incarnations. For this reason, we propose that a single accord be drawn up, drafted and ratified by those who are opposed to the existence of the slave trade."

He paused, taking a breathe before adding, "Nevertheless, let it be known that The United Commonwealth of Kryozerkia is a signatory on the accord, and will use it as the benchmark document for the Anti-slavery Alliance."

Shuffling his papers, the delegate sits back down and returns the earpiece to his left ear and continues to watch and listen as other delegates and representatives speak out.

Having noted that Vetaka announced the fact that the GDI should support proposals to ban slavery following the recent anti-slavery announcement by the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek, it was decided that the closest foreign official with a high enough rank to make decisions on behalf of Hotdogs2 should be sent immediately to the Pearce International Anti Slavery Summit. To that end, a certain James Michael Huntford, currently on holiday in the region, would be dispatched immediately to the conference, which had only been attended by a small, two person team from Hotdogs2.

Flying in on an international flight using a Vetaka airline James was surprised by the atmosphere. It seemed the security attendants were only too pleased to see him, and quite capable at their jobs and checking through any security issues. Having been dispatched in such a rush, there had been no time to prepare himself for what to expect from Vetaka and its culture, but he soon spotted a sign with his name written on him. Fortunately it seemed, the foreign office had prepared their local diplomatic staff to welcome him, and he presumed they would also have sorted accommodation for him. Being a proud speaker of Dienstadi he knew a wide variety of languages similar to it, but not all as well as he would have liked, so was quite unprepared for the local dialect.

- The Theeb Accords -
A statement of common consensus on the inhumanity of slavery

Preamble
In response to the growing desire of a majority of nations and their citizenry for the universal abolition of slavery, the following accords and protocols were established by international agreement within the Vetakan City of Theeb. The following articles outline a series of five basic human rights all signatories to these accords accept and vow to act in accordance with:

Article One

- No Crminal over the age of 55 can serve in Penal Labour
- No Crminal can work more than 10 hours of Penal Labour in any 24 Hour Period

"Excuse me Mr.Speaker. A slave can be described as "A person who is forced to work for another, usually without pay." [Wiktionary] However, in article four of your proposal you state that "Penal Labour however would be allowed" with payment going to the victims family. This seems like a contradiction of your whole proposal, we see this as a grave loophole which would allow nations to take criminals, including illegal immigrants for example, and forcing them to work for up to 70hours a week, especially as article five does not stipulate what exactly a "reasonable limitation of working hours" is, but the suggestion of up to 10hours of work a day seems to suggest this could be very high.

We would like to see these two articles changed to ensure that a prisoner is not forced to carry out manual labour (unless they, in this case the criminal, specifically agree) or work of which they are not capable of. We do not have a problem with prisoners working, it is when they are forced to work against their will that we have an issue, and for an unstated number of hours and days, as we do not see any mention of days off other than periodic holidays, which again could be a small number of days.

These are the main issues at this time, although we are sure these will be more concerns raised"

"With all due respect, the Federal Republic will not commit itself to a treaty which restricts our sovereign right to determine punishments for our criminals. Although rarely used, in Hamilay an acceptable punishment for capital crimes is lifetime servitude to either the state or specific corporations. Whilst you may say this is no different from Strator exporting his enslaved criminals, we have a much more specific and we hope acceptable definition of what constitutes a capital crime: murder, treason, war crimes or crimes against humanity, rather than all sorts of political dissidence or talking too loud.

Whether the assembled delegates disapprove of this practice or not, it hardly violates the criminal's well-being more than execution does, which we are not here to discuss. An acceptable treaty to Hamilay would impose no restrictions, apart from perhaps a guarantee of the accused's right to the most basic of rights, on penal labour for major crimes."

Whilst all this commotion went on Jacobs was being briefed via his mobile on the whole slave situation. Honako, with it's recent conflict, did not have the time to be involved in the messy political hub of anti-slave talk spreading around nations, there were conferences, declarations of war and anti-slavery treaties popping up everywhere. Though he had been told Honako would sign this treaty which would make their stance on the issue clear - there was nothing more the nation could do but sit back and watch the events of the whole slave situation unfold.

"I think before this treaty can get anyfurther; we need to define what we see as slavery; Slavery is willingly oppressing innocent peoples and forcing them into labor or service without their consent, and trafficking them for profit or trade constitues a slave trade. however Stripping the rights of those who have taken away or infringed the rights of others and forcing them to work and repay the state does not constitute slavery, nor do we believe it fits the definition of slavery by any nation's standards. we do not believe that their treatment of criminals constitutes a slave trade providing that they have commited a crime of harm to others or the state that is severe hard labour should be acceptable."

"We Also note that while we agree with Article Four; the provison of "no nation shall sell its criminals to another" we view as exesive and a breach of soverignty. We recently bought 400,000 Prisoners from the Dark Empire of Shazbotdom. the most violent female prisoners destined for life imprisonment or execution. instead of being sent to the chair they were sent to serve in our military for a tour of duty where they will enjoy the full rights and pay of the armed services; they will not be slaves further more after there duty is served they will be full citizens of Animarnia as serving in our armed forces is the only way to Imigrate fully to our nation and gain Citizenship"

"the Selling of Prisoners is an obvious way to cut the slack for a large population however we propose some restrictions on this practice. the Animarnia Representative proposes the following ammendments"

Article Four
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Penal Labour however would be allowed altough such action would require all signatories to abide and provide certian rights to the criminal these being the following:

- All Crminals can serve no longer than 30 Years of Penal Labour

- All Crminals must have at least 1 30 minute break in any 10 hour Shift they do in any 24 hour period.
- All Criminals must have provisons for at least 8 hours of Sleep
- All Crminals must be paid for their Labour whether the Crminal gets payment or the family of the victim gets payment.
- Sale of Prisoners is permisable but it is the Sellers duty to seek information on how this prisoners will be treated before the sale is finalized; for example Prisoners may not be knowingly sold into slavery

Press Release:

"Dr. Jeari, a Director of the brand new Servant Corps (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=521964) would like to attend the conference as a delegate. Servants Corps is a new corporation that hates slavery, and it would be very happy to attend the conference and listen intensely, and be one of the first people to sign this declaration. We believe slavery is wrong and therefore, this ban is necessary.

Servants Corps is a prime provider of 'servants', which are not slaves since servants willingly desire to work for cheap, unlike slaves. Servants are good, while slaves are bad, and we would like to showcase our devotion to human rights. We would hope that many nations please read our public relations adverstiment and contact us as well.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=521964

Dr. Jeari will arrive by airplane ASAP, but this is a note declaring our intention to arrive at the discussions.

NOTE: Servant Corps is based in the country of SilentScope001, but works somewhat indepedently as a capitalist company."

A member from the Servants Corps, Dr. Jerai arrives via airplane in order to hopefully attend the talks. Dr. Jerai merely wants good Public Relations, and this is the way to do it, since he would like to sign onto the treaty, while, at the same time, promote his new company, Servant Corps.

Dr. Jerai only hopes that he can go and get some countries to join up with him. He is very hopeful of the chance to make business contacts, and get very popular indeed.

Article Six
Those convicted by a court of a crime for which the punishment is forced labour/community service shall be treated in a humane fashion and not subjected to overly harsh treatment (torture etc.) or inhumane living conditions. Water, food, shelter and healthcare must be provided to all convict workers at least to a basic level. Convict workers are exempt from the remuneration clause. In nations where the death penalty already exists prior to signing this document, these accords shall not interfere with fair internal judicial processes. This article does not apply to those who have yet to be convicted of a crime, whether in custody or otherwise.

"After carefully reviewing the new treaty; in the consolodated version; and Article Six. We agree to the terms of this treat and will sign to it; however we still have revervations about the outlawing sales of prisoners and we feel that this should be allowed as long as the seller does not knowing sell the prisoners into slavery and undertakes a process to background check recipients before sale but this is simple semantics." "I'm afraid I will never agree with you that it is right for prisoners to be sold. Human beings are not objects and are not property of anyone, not even the state. This status does not change regardless of their criminal nature. The only commercial activity that I can envision regarding prisoners would be the tendering process to subcontract your prisons to a commercial entity, subject to strict regulation." replied Elizabeth.

"The Grand Republic of Adamta does not agree that prisoners can be sold. If prisoners are sold to another nation, they will be used as slaves, and not taken proper care of. Then the nation were the slaves came from can say that they are not responsible for what has happened to their prisoners." Roberson said after being quiet for a while.

"This is no better than selling slaves, no better than Strator itself."
SilentScope001
26-03-2007, 20:27
Dr. Jeari: "I think it might be better to subcontract the prisoners' work to other companies, within your own nation. (I'd recommend us, but you can use whomever you want in this regard) Make sure the prisonsers get paid for their work by these subcontractors, just so that they can live and surivie. Heavily regulate the prisonsers' spending though, you don't want them buying guns or such. Just let them afford the day-to-day living expenses in prison.

I think that would be aggerable, it is much easier to regulate your own companies than sell it off to some random agent who might use the prisoners for their own ends. Might also prevent a loophole...mob bosses might 'buy' prisoners, take them to a 'labor camp' and set them free, in return, of course, for the prisoners to join up with the criminal gangs that set them free in the first place.

The prisoners might use this way as a way to ESCAPE prison...which is not the point of prison, of course."

Your ideas, such as maybe allowing me to discreetly supply the republicans OBSAT PDAs restricted to intel feeds from my government, and direct-linked to my account so they could purchase aid easily? I'm still thinking but so far few options strike me as either workable or non-wanky...:(

"Absolutely, Madam President. We'll follow; I'm right to assume Lady Tóriel would be welcome too?" The elven ambassador stood stoically behind, then walked up as Christine moved to follow Roxanne.

Roxanne Smiled:

"You assumed correct. The Day an Elve is restricted in this Palace will be a sad day for Vetaka."

The two delegations led by Roxanne made their way along a marble corridoor and into a room. As she entered she stopped realising where she had led her Wagdog Friends this was the room where President Pearce had talked with the Wagdog Deputy General Secretary and the Elven Ambassador during the first Anti-Slavery Conference. Roxanne and much of Vetaka had developed a deep respect for Christine Friedrich and Lady Tóriel. Bridget entered and put her hand on Roxanne whom turned to look at both Wagdog Delegates:

"Do you remember this room?"

OOC: As for the Hamilay affair re inforcements for Strator where inbound when the Hamilay affair came to light as a result they are now on site. As for OBSAT's encryption its perfectly secure the only problem will be if the OBSAT PDA's fall into the wrong enemy hands then we will have a problem. I took this situation into account when I designed the OBSAT Griffin Security System.

OOC: Yeah. Maybe just granting them an uplink by other means if possible might work? I can shoot my Defense Secretary's underworld connections, but the idea I've got would be much faster and more secure. Two things the republicans will need AFAIK. Oh, is this the "Swords of Freedom" room maybe?:D
BTW, since the Fighting Stars managed to force you to attack them, does that mean their accusations about Pearce's assassination being their hit are true now? I'll still ignore it if you insist, as per the thread ignore, but in a way it does fit the storyline we've got going here. They hire a demented pseudo-communist to do their deeds, tragically upsetting two separate conferences, and then we avenge Pearce by smacking them down for the attempted n00king of the second conference. Any way you prefer, your call.

IC:
Christine took a second to remember this room. She then nooded and spoke. "Here's where Pearce, stubborn old independent like he was to the end, refused my offer of funding back when Londim looked to be on the warpath against the Dominion." She paced around, savoring the memories of a man she now regarded almost as an uncle or mentor of sorts; well, after the love of her life many miles away fighting a war for their country's survival against hardcore fascists, of course. "Probably aided and abetted by the Leafanistani Red Mafia, and thus the Corporate Alliance too; since some of them have known ties to the slave trade." The bastards. As if capitalism in its most abusive and reckless forms weren't bad enough alone... "Well, probably so; as the Ennuisian investigation said."
She fought back tears remembering how close to war with their Vetakan friends her husband's reckless pursuit of the Mafia, in old-school vendetta against them for the insult they had given him by sabotaging the conference, had twice brought Wagdog. First when Leafanistan's Mafia made clear they'd use their host country's Sovereign League ties to Vetaka as cover for their skullduggery, and secondly when the Crown Imperium Questers had decided to back King Kang Arma of Zanski in its usual knee-jerk imperialist style. "But I can't begrudge the man now. He fought his own battles whenever he could, and always triumphed. No enemy ever defeated him, I dare say; not even the insane one who shot him. That was Fate, not failure; for with all of our work these Accords drafted here, in fact, represent his latest and mightiest Victory yet. So say we all?"
Letting the question hang, Christine decided to get to the point before the memories of Pearce's death overwhelmed her; the subject matter was grim enough itself. "Bridget... I have grave news for you. As you may have heard, Supreme Warlord Damien Dreadfire of the Excessively Armed Empire of AutoMagFreek has declared that the slave trade must cease, or else he will exterminate any nations and persons caught participating in it. He's already moved against Doomingsland, or at least shall soon since they were so..." Christine had few words for how lowly the Doomani fundamentalist regime ranked in her world. "...stupid as to insult him directly and appeal to God for his destruction. After which, Bridget... he has promised to come for Strator as well."
Lady Tóriel picked up some of the slack, upon sensing Christine's difficulty in proceeding. "I do not remember this room, but have heard from Sir Rilir Alárion nós Carthir our Secretary of State about it; and the hallowed status it is due. Honored Bridget Smith, do understand my nation's complicated position as best you are able. Although our government, in the form of Deputy General Secretary Christine's husband the General Secretary, has stated its abstract moral support for the righteousness behind Dreadfire's proclamations, in no way at all do we condone wars of genocide. But if we are to spare the innocent while Lord Dreadfire's wrath should consume the guilty, as at least we believe those guilty of the crimes in question and unwilling to repent by joining our accords drawn up here deserve to be consumed..." The Elven hatred for the very idea of slavery, spawned by the fallen Vala Melkor's supposedly inventing it, showed in Lady Tóriel's voice of Noldorin steel, "...we will need your help.
"As you know, Bridget, Vetaka has assumed responsibility for our former occupation zone in southeastern Strator; and we wish to help you get your friends and family that weren't sold off out of there. As well, to also find those that were sold and rescue them in due time; for they deserve the freedom denied them by the tyrant Strator, now being duly reeducated in the ways of war by Allanean forces off Llanoran.
"In adddition, we fully intend to serve firm notice to Lord Dreadfire that Vetaka's responsibilities in Strator are inviolable, under pain of invoking my government's obligations toward your new home whatever the outcome of the tragedy resulting from same. Under that notice, Bridget, could you also aid our government and yours in finding out precisely who collaborated in your slavery and who did not; and in that of others besides?"
Christine could continue now, "Do no more than you are comfortable with, please. Your conscience is paramount, and I know these aren't the happiest of topics; but they need addressing nonetheless. Do not confuse for unconditional support of Freekish actions my husband's sense of... open-mindedness regarding Lord Dreadfire. If required by honor to oppose AutoMagFreek should they violate innocent life under our or our allies' protection, we would discharge that requirement even unto destruction. But you, Bridget, have the power to be our stalking hound so that doesn't have to happen; to exercise your natural right to fight back against your torturers, and see them brought to the justice they have so richly earned by their dark trade. We ask, Bridget; what are you willing to do, to see your people spared the worst of their tyrant's nigh-inevitable downfall insofar as possible?" She couldn't say more. Again, the waiting began...

OOC: Yes the Swords of Freedom are stored within this room.

After listerning to Christine Friedrich and Lady Lady Tóriel's Bridget new it was time to tell the true. Her top lipped wobbled and then tears streamed her face:

"They are Dead. All Dead" whisperd Bridget.

"I have told nobody this not even you Roxanne. All of my Family and everybody I called a Friend in Strator where murdered by him. I didn't just insult him nor did I just have a small fight with his security. I was leader of a resistence movement in the Capital.......

She closed her eyes remebering the visions of past experiences eventually she carried on..........

"The resistence movement was called Stealth. On the night I became a Slave we the group had managed to acquire a C4 that had been rigged into a Large Back Pack it looked like a tent anyway we had manged to Smuggle it into the Country and eventually into the Capital. With the openining of the countrys first Nuclear Powerplant that Strator himself was due to open the plan I had devised was simple blow up the powerplant and thus reactor and Kill Strator as well as most of his fanatics. As most of his most loyal supporters and top aides where their to celebrate the grand step in building an empire. A Nuclear Empire. Much of Stealth would die in the attack but it didn't matter Strator and all the main bastards would be dead freeing the nation. However little did we know but Stealth had been compromised one of our people was a double agent he was paid millions and was granted a number of personal slaves as well as a girl he had romantic feelings for in Stealth that girl became his personal rape slave. Anyway as the count down on the C4 that we had managed to get into the reactor counted down Strator Security appeared we fought them off with Side Arms and What not but eventually we where over ran and they aborted the count down.

Everybody in Stealth was tortured and killed with the exception of 1. Me. I became that bastards Sex Toy........."

Bridget cried again.........

"After 1 week of Sexual Abuse from him I escaped and hacked into Strator's Slave Records and tried to change my record so I could in a sense disappear. However I intially failed in hacking however while I was online another hacker located me. I counter-hacked and discovered the hackers Identity. It was Vetakan Security and Intelligence Service and more importantly Pearce himself. He told me about the Cargo Ship. My intial story of arrival is not actually true. The Cargo Ship was actually a Black Operation its Crew where Vetakan Scouts and 101 Commando by VSIS that Pearce had personally ordered. The Ships mission was to rescue Children. After I told him everything he told me to be at the dock I obeyed and sure enough I escaped. VSIS launched the mission to rescue as many children as possible it was a Black Operation because it was illegal under International Law. If it wasn't for Pearce I would not be here today Im sorry Madam-President. Pearce begged me not to tell you. Anyway before I left Pearce asked me to do somthing. The Night before I was to escape VSIS via Knights Agency dropped a package into Strator a OBSAT Uplink Device. He asked me to fit it to the the local govenment building main frame which I did. At first he refused to tell me why but eventually he told me why. With the Device in place it would allow VSIS to access all Slave Records in an instant. Again he swore me not to tell anybody it was all part of some plan he had in his mind. I swear the man was psychic he predicted his death, He predicted the war with New Nickslyannia and that I would tell you. Im sorry. Will you ever forgive me?" bridget broke down it was clear she had more to say but her tears overwhelmed her.

"You have nothing to be Sorry for. Even in his Death Pearce fights" replied President Wright. Wright picked up her sword from the Swords of Freedom and turned to Christine:

"What do you think? What are our options?

The "Truth" my characters are telling is how I RP the effects of my undeletion back in November. That's why I have metahumans such as Elves and whatnot, since they definitely weren't to be in there when I started out.

"Our options can wait..." Christine was choking back tears at the girl's ordeal. "There's nothing to forgive dear, as President Wright said. I wouldn't be surprised if Pearce did all you said and more; now at least some of his decisions, would make sense, and my entire country did something similar years ago." Christine had her own truths to tell, so why not now? "We have our own secrets that you both should know, that Pearce probably either guessed then by his abilities or does now in the spirit world." She was still agnostic, but could never be an atheist again for sure like she'd been when young. Too much had happened to her for that, by far...
"You see, Bridget; Wagdog is unique among the nations today in that, with the possible exceptions of AutoMagFreek and Kravania, few have changed so fundamentally as us from what they were in the beginning by now. At first we were all-human in terms of our citizenship, only barely controlling a few of the islands we now hold; with just about the strangest things present being our few chimera, human/animal genetic hybrids created by a mad scientist on the island that later became our capital, victims of the first of the many tyrants we destroyed in our uprising. We saved those whose mutations weren't fatal, releasing them into the tropical forests to breed and live freely, but had to put the others down alas." That had been only the first tragedy the USSW would have to deal with in its time...
"We were also much more militant in our Socialism then, for we only had three legalized parties: Communist, Social Democrat, and Green; and voting was compulsory, with half the legislature stuffed by Communist Party delegates handpicked by my husband. A 'safeguard against reactionaries', we called it. However, only a few years into our existence, something truly bizarre (we still don't know what) happened and we, our whole country that is, went into a long occultation. Had Vetakan ships tried to sail Wagdoggie waters then, they'd've only found empty seas consumed by black and portentous mists. For years it remained this way, perhaps even generations; we can't tell ourselves. All I know is that, one night we went to sleep normal, and then the next morning we woke up with a profound feeling of... lost time... of missingness; as if whole years had gone by while we had been frozen somehow, and removed from existence itself in the meantime." Had it not happened to her personally, Christine couldn't have invented the story herself. It was that strange.
"And more had changed too, besides us: the chimera had grown more numerous, adding the homochimera or were-people to their numbers; whose initial appearances, along with those of the vampires from out of people who had been normal the night previous, and the general strangeness of the situation itself whole, had all forced our nation into panic. To restore order, my husband and I declared martial law and dismissed all other organs of government besides the Revolutionary Command Council, what you'd call a 'Cabinet' but with certain extra powers even today, and the Courts. That proved a mistake, as it turned out later."
Christine's story had a happy part, which she related. "Shortly after the Elves arrived, in their own antiquated boats thanks to some bizarre interdimensional accident leading them to our shores instead of the Undying Lands they had sought," Christine looked to Tóriel who nodded in affirmaiton; she being one of the original immigrants, of whom most were still quite alive and contributing to Wagdoggie society decades later. "They at first tried to reclaim the Straight Road and still make sail for Valinor, but they never could again. And so, with our blessing, they settled down and began breeding again. And politicking too, culminating in Rilir's convincing my husband to allow new elections again and recall all the parties to government."
Now came the crux of the story, and a bloody one at that. "Shortly after this seemingly happy moment, the renewal of what Lady Tóriel and Sir Rilir himself called 'the Old Allegiances' between Elves and Mankind in our country, a group of Nazists in the 'Blood and Soil Party' we'd long-ago outlawed saw their chance to stage an uprising and destroy all we'd even then achieved. They tried to claim the usual excuse that we were allowing Marxism and 'inferior' non-human or non-white races to destroy the country; something which, even though blatantly false, seemed convincing to many among the frustrated masses. Then, our economy was the usual state-owned mess, and our government had just emerged from a full dictatorship started out of desperation at the strangeness befalling us; itself a factor in the BSP's rise in influence." That moment had seemed just Christine and her husband's luck, having scored the Elves' aid in stabilizing Wagdog.
"The putsch failed, of course; my husband and I saw to that, as part of the oath we'd sworn our lives to when leaving an America grown too decadent and reactionary to bear living in anymore as idealist-leftie college students. But the price for saving our Revolution was nearly as high as our lives, for one of a cell among the insurgents somehow snuck close to my husband and shot him with a magnum revolver while he was rallying a demoralized tank crew to fight on. We rushed him to the main hospital, and the tank crew of course dealt with the assassin right away; but it was too late." Christine knew she had to go on, lest the memories overpower her completely.
"For three whole minutes, I was a widow; a broken woman in charge of a capital become a warzone, in a country tearing itself apart. But then... in a true miracle I'll never quite understand, my husband simply woke up on the operating table like nothing had happened. Oh he had the bullet scars, all six of them. Still does, actually." Christine chuckled morbidly at that. "But he was alive, and made that known to the Army and the People yet resisting the fascists in our very streets. And he especially made it known to the enemy, taking up a rifle himself like in the old days and leading from the front; daring the traitors to take another shot at him and look their enemy in the eye like real men." Christine's love and admiration for the man, a scruffy and physically unassuming scrapper who looked far older than the 29 he seemed as well as his wife, even if still not so much as his true age, was plain in her voice.
"Their failure so rendered complete once the capital was secured again, the Blood and Soil Party and its insurgents faded away into obscurity or exile; those that weren't captured and brought to whatever justice each had so earned that black day of their attempted coup. We don't know where the rest went, for our security services had been preoccupied with managing law-and-order for some time by then. If some made it to Nicksyllvania, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. And they can just stay there, for in no way shall I ever let them back to harm our non-human or non-white citizens." She made her resolution plain, the enemy far away or no.
"Many years... decades have passed since those events. I believe Vetaka was even still under British rule then. You see, Bridget, I may look about your age, but the return from occlusion changed my country; on a very basic, almost mystical level. My husband and I, like a small percentage of our human population and all of our metahumans, don't age normally. If I looked my real age, Bridget... well, I'd probably look a lot like your late grandmother. I know I'm not immortal, for I looked even younger when the changes happened; but I suspect it will be at least a century from now before I die naturally." And there was where she felt the trip down Memory Lane had best end.
Christine mulled The Swords of Freedom over a long moment when it came to the matter of options, for they deserved that degree of thought. "Let's see, options... Well, we can't add another front immediately in Strator to displace his regime and peremptorily free the slaves in the records, at least not until we've laid the right groundwork. And we would have to do that to get the remaining ones all at once, since I believe President Wright's forces have overseen the emancipation of all the slaves in their occupation zone; if I'm not mistaken." Then as obvious as the ornate blades surrounding them on the wall, the answer was there right in front of her.
She elaborated, "For now, let's just infiltrate some agents of both our respective intelligence forces and you into Stratorian territory to reorganize Stealth, including the colony of Xeqeyzikstan near Toopoxica; only this time, purely to evacuate what slaves remain and those freedmen wishing to defect to Vetakan or other territory before the Freekish hammer falls. If Strator takes action against you," Christine smirked at this probability, "then we have all the excuse we need to take him down before Lord Dreadfire does; Vetaka's already assembled a full Battlegroup in its occupied zone in response to Strator aiding Llanoran before Allanea brought them low, and a Wagdoggie Army Group of a combined Field Army and Army Air Force my husband probably hasn't picked yet wouldn't be far behind in the event. If we can convince Strator to abandon slavery or else see what little population he has left by the end slaughtered, without war of our own, we should do so. But if we have to move to save lives on our own, we must move. Honor compels it, such as that embodied in this room; in these hallowed relics of your own uprising."
And Christine saw fit to finish with, "To that end, President Wright, I think we should tell Bridget of something you and I've been discussing for some time during this conference; behind the scenes, that is, yes?" She knew Bridget would love the UFAN idea, the support for her country's freedom it represented that was growing even as they spoke; and that she could be trusted with it's secrets, or at least some anyway...
