Emperor VanStone was scheduled to make a speech legalizing The draft making millitary service mandatory for males 16 to 36.

The nation of Centrendom mourns for your great lose of human life. Any tradegy is difficult to deal with, especially one of such magnitude effecting so many people. Many of your esteemed politicians of your day have been murdered needlessly.

That said, I condemn the course you have decided to take. People should not fear their government. People should not be controlled by their government. People should be allowed to be heard. You have denied these to your people. We ask that you return to your democratic government. This would best memorialize the victims of your once great country. We ask you turn course and re-instate the parliment.

Diplomatically,
Potentate Gunner R Brooks

Is Pavia completely overturned or can I send some of my men to take out any opposition, I must admit that I have a tendancy to be a bit sadistic.

IC: (semi-intentional excessive use of the letter "P")
During a recess at a court hearing involving some Soviet artillery blasting holes in cities and the competancy of the commander who ordered the strike, Pinkerton managed to purchas -and read- a newspaper.

The gist of it said that Pavaria's Parliament had pretty much been blown to pieces and not much was left of it, Martial law and a curfew were declared, and a rough -and most likely exagerated- estimate of the dead was given, something like 350 dead...

During the court case, Pinkerton pondered what would be an adaquate reply to Pavaria's plight, and jotted down some notes with a pen and a pad of paper.

Later, he sent a telegram to Pavaria:
-----------------
To: Whomever is left of the goverment of Pavaria
(Or to whom it may concern)
From: Minister Of Foriegn Affairs Hubert A. Pinkerton (http://brownsteins.net/Ulpan/Images/Moshe_Dayan_small.jpg)

I feel for the loss of your parliament building, and almost your entire parliament. And we hope that you find the people responsable for these cowardly actions.

I hear that your nation has the situation under control for now, and wish you the best of luck in you nation's recovery.

If your nation ever needs anything, or if any nation tries to abuse your soveriegnty in this time of peril, give me a call.

From Mr.VanStone

Strator my friend,The blast that rocked pavia was infact The end of democracy in my dominion!

The parliament was all that was left of the former regime. the people's trust in the parliament was a threat to me. Know there no more know I have total control.

The bombing was the work of my guard they did a fine job. I had to remind the people why they need me.

When we heard of the news, the Capitalist Republic was prepared to extend the hand of aid to the people under Dictator Van Stone - loss of human life in such an act is a tragedy, no matter where in the world it takes place. However, when we discovered that the Emperor used this act of terrorism to justify disbanding the nation's deep-seated democracy and place it under martial law, we retracted the hand as fast as possible. The loss of life is a sad occurrence, but using it for one's own political gains is nothing short of reprehensible.

You have already raised our ire through your participation in slave trading and the means by which you rose to power, and with this third event, we will be looking into the circumstances through which it arose. Some may say that it is not our place to be looking for evidence of wrong-doing, but when a nation's own police force are handcuffed by their governors, we say someone has to do it.

Be warned.

Translation? "This sign reads, in Spanish: Top sign: 'You are in Zapatista rebel territory. Here the people give the orders and the government obeys.' Bottom sign: 'North Zone. Council of Good Government. Trafficking in weapons, planting of drugs, drug use, intoxicating beverages, and illegal sales of wood are strictly prohibited. No to the destruction of nature.'

OOC: What do you mean? He specified that the bombing was a covert plot to get rid of the parliament, I'm not referencing that. I'm referencing the public speech he made declaring the nation to be under military rule - I don't think it's obtuse to think that a proclamation of that magnitude would reach us.

The suspects have been found guilty of high treason and hanged in front of what is left of the parliament building.

the emperor has stated that any supporters of the former regime who speak out against the ruling body will be found guilty of treason and hanged.

The emperor has stated on national TV that it is in the nations best intrest to remain united threw faith in god and government.
the emperor has also announced that new security measures will be put into place in pavia and threw out the nation, cameras on every street corner, wire tapping on suspected terrorists.

Logothes Office communique -

It is advised you lift the curfew you are imposing on your citizens and instead spend the extra money generated from your night time ecomomy to purchase security systems around your major buildings. It is unfortunate that you would make your buildings so accessable to outside influence, such as a truck packed with explosives. ICCD would be willing to sell you some survielance systems, some mobile xray vehicle scanners and other sensor systems, as well as make available some of our experienced engineers who can insure that civil strife will not pose a regular risk to your major buildings and their personnel. We also have a host of security vehicles that can serve well at home. Repression of the public is collective punishment for a small group of individuals acts. Hopefully you see the error of your ways, and recognize that reducing your citizens active time in half allow only half the economy you could have.

Very well it was just a suggestions. We have placed a travel advisory in regard to your country, and placed it as an 'official state business' travel destination only. The Logothe's Office is now also accepting refugees from your country, on regard of previous citizenship prior to the loss of democratic government.

We will offer the systems at very low rates. Afterall with so much international attention being brought on your small country, a few high tech, tested and true security systems wouldn't hurt would they?

Anyhow

It appears that some countries are disapproving of your methods, I support any country that fights to have its own way rather than wiltering to the views of others. If you are in need of assistance, just ask.

Official Proclamation of Lord Chancellor Jan Sebastien

I have recently sat down with His Majesty, the King, and the issue of the tragedy that has unfolded in Pavia surfaced in our discussion. The King had known about this, and of course I had been following it as is my duty as the chief foreign minister in His Majesty’s Government.

In our conversation, His Majesty was very distraught, not only for the loss of Emperor VanStone’s Parliament, but also of the incredible and appalling lack of international empathy and support that the esteemed Emperor has been subjected to during this tumultuous episode in his reign.

His Majesty attributes this reaction to the lack of understanding of the Emperor’s problem by the non-monarchic states that have hitherto responded. Many of these states and their leaders simply can not connect with the heavy impact of this tragedy.

‘Despots in the democratic lands do not know what it feels like to lose almost an entire parliament in one blow,’ said the King to me. His Majesty then told me how ‘it would be a most devastating loss, the magnitude of which has never been felt in my reign, for a monarch to lose his parliament. The wounds are left deep not only on emotional levels, but on many other levels of the administration of a realm. The parliament is an instrument very fundamental to the health of a government.’

This is why I urge the states that are responding to the Emperor to not be so harsh and hasty in judgments. It is very difficult and courageous of a monarch to construct a parliament, and when it is lost, much sadness and anger arises.

The Emperor’s actions following the bombing are not to be castigated and reprimanded, for it is only the emotional reaction of a ruler very protective and concerned for his people. Some of these measures, which may seem unnecessary, will surely be repealed as the Emperor comes to terms with his loss, but for now he should simply be left to grieve.

To Tyler VanStone:

As I am sure you are aware, the situation in my country makes it difcult for me to help you, but I have deployments within the Kurpsegradi area and I might be able to send aid if a major threat arises. For now I must sit and wait as I have these foreign troops storming along my lands, destroying the Utopia I have tried to create. I hope that you are not put in this kind of situation, so I advise you to watch where you tread or you might just end up in the quiksand of unhappy foreign polititians.
