Elections?
Surprising move by the PM.

St. Myhre - In a stunning move, Prime Minster Lester Geddie and the Conservatives have called an election. And already the Prime Minister is starting to attempt to please the voters, as he was refit, rebuilt and giving the Armed Forces a wash. The armies have been reorganized and new generals brought in to command them. Also General Gordan Brigman, head General of the Armed Forces, has been promoted to the new position Minister of Defense, and General Sean Harper has taken his position. General Harper was the former C.O of the 1st Army Group.

With the new promotion, Minister Brigman has reactivated the Old (Royal) Guard. It you remember, the unit was disbanded after the Kreatvye War, and the soldiers sent to other units. The unit is now being formed in the old barracks in Russograd, the birth and death place of the Guard. Now as all citizens of Delesa can tell you, the only way that you can get into the unit is to be scouted them recruited, you can’t just apply. They are the most feared unit in Delesa, all the soldiers have fought before, and spilt their blood and that of their enemy. And a new C.O has been put in command, former 2IC of the corps size unit, Major General Erwin Dunn, now Lieutenant General. This man has some history, and the reporters of DNN have dug in Army records to bring it to you. He served in the King Leo Infantry Regiment based in Russograd in the beginning of his career, and after leading a suicide charge on a heavily fortified position, barely making it out alive, but still capturing the hill and 163 prisoners, he was requested that he join the ranks of the few and proud. And of course he accepted and was promoted to Junior Officer Cadet, and as time went on he served his unit faithfully, leading his men time and time again to victory. In the Old Guard history, never has the unit retreated, never surrendered, which has resulted in the total destruction of the unit and all her men on one occasion. Although the unit did retreat twice to allow the enemy force retreat into a trap. In the dieing months of the war, and as the Old Guard spearheaded the advance of the Kreatvye capital, Dunn, now a major lead his man in another charge on a bunker complex that had already cost 73 men their lives, and with 200 men he took the position, but soon the enemy counter attacked with anything that was available to them and soon it was 185 Delesian soldiers against 1, 304 Kreatvye soldiers, in the end the position was held, taking 179 casualties, they caused the enemy 1, 289 killed and 15 taken prisoner. Dunn have 2 knife wounds, shrapnel in his shoulder and was shot 3 times. Upon being relieved by reinforcements, he was awarded the high honor in the Armed Forces, the King Leo Medal of Valor. It is believed that he had become mad after the battle of Bunker 372, but that doctors didn’t dismiss him, as it is said he threatened to kill them if he wasn’t released for active duty. Near the end of the war, he was taking the surrender of 3 company size enemy forces when the of the C.O’s the battalion refused to surrender to a mere major, he shot the man on the spot, the Captains of the three companies instantly surrendered and placed handcuffs on them selves. By the end of the war he was Major General and 2IC of the unit. When the Liberal Prime Minister took office from the Conservative government that lead the war, ordered the unit disbanded, the General came close to shooting the PM.

Back to the topic, elections, who will win? Citizens of Delesa here we go, being dragged back into the election run. Which includes some scandals, assassination attempts and good old name calling in the House of Commons. Bring out the beer and nachos.

Commies Busted!
Commies pulling the same stunts, but cops ready to bust ass.

St. Myhre – Earlier this morning Political Leader of the Communist Party of Delesa, Mr. Ford Ralph was arrested out side him home in St. Myhre by the Delesa Secret Police, and St. Myhre City Police. He is being charged with bribing voters back with hard cash. And of this moment, the CPD has no replacement to run for Prime Minister and hence has dropped out of most Constituencies, leaving them with no chance of gaining office this term.

In another story of political misconduct, Mr. Adrien Leopold of the Delesa Action Party is also being watched by the eyes of the State Department and their Secret Police, although no reasons where released to the public at this time.

Meanwhile other leaders have been getting along quite well with out the police haggling any progress. Mr. Peter Rowdy of the Liberals can found in schools talking to the younger generations, and Mr. Lester Geddie in senior homes and small cities around the country. And a new contender in the past years, making serious headway Mr. Kip Gordan of the Green Party can be found in local places like malls and on the streets, spending more time on the radio then the TV unlike the Liberals and Conservatives who focus more money on the TV. This election is proposed to be a close one for the top three parties, and it is guessed that another minority government will be formed, the 4th in 5 years.

Parties

Progressive Conservative Party
Lester Geddie
The Progressive Conservative Party (PCP) will be guided in its constitutional framework and its policy basis by the following principles: A balance between fiscal accountability, progressive social policy and individual rights and responsibilities; Build a national coalition of people who share these beliefs and who reflect the regional, cultural and socio-economic diversity of Delesa; Develop this coalition, embracing our differences and respecting our traditions, yet honoring a concept of Delesa as the greater sum of strong parts; The Conservative Party will operate in a manner accountable and responsive to its members; and much more.

National Liberal Party
Peter Rowdy
The National Liberal Party of Delesa (NLP) believes that the dignity of each individual man and woman is the fundamental principle of democratic society. All political organization and activity emanates from this guiding principle. In accordance with this philosophy, the Liberal Party of Delesa believes in the promotion of the fundamental rights and freedoms of persons, under the rule of law, and commits itself to the protection of these essential values and their constant adaptation in light of the changing needs of modern Delesian society.

Green Party of Delesa
Kip Gordan
The policies of the Green Party of Delesa (GPD) are founded upon six fundamental principles: Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice, Participatory Democracy, Non-Violence, Sustainability, Respect for Diversity.

Delesa Action Party
Adrien Léopold
The Delesian Action Party's (DAP) key proposal is "the right to work". We believe that anyone who wants to work should be able to find employment at a wage that will allow self-sufficiency. Our ultimate aim is "full employment." Period! We believe that the right to gainful employment is a fundamental right and we will cooperate with the provinces and municipalities in the development of a form of "guaranteed annual work" to provide meaningful expression for people displaced by technology. The vast majority of unemployed Delesians want to work, be self-sufficient and part of their communities. Individuals will be given the opportunity for self-fulfillment while contributing to a higher quality of life for all.

The Dark Empire is saddened that you have not allowed at least a Socialist Candidate into this election. We though will not give any support to any of the candidates as they do not seem like the type that we would want to run our nation, so we feel that they shouldn't be allowed to run yours.

Depends, ofcourse all are willing to join alliances, but it would be for the better of the nation, like the conservatives with Lester Geddie in power would join more military alliances, mean while the green boys would join green peace or something like that.

Axcliffe, Royal Crown Colony of Axcliffe, United Kingdom

Gabriel Holmes let his legs steer him, relegating his mind to finer things such as the sways and bows of the branches of the broad-leafed deciduous trees shading the brick promenade along the River Ax. He was like most in this small Oceanian colony, quiet and reserved and also wholly concerned by the affairs of the people on the distant smudges of green and brown upon the horizon, barely visible from the promenade markets where he walked.

Oceanians and Delesians had an historically close relationship, the spillage of blood uniting the two peoples more closely than their shared values and ideals. Thusly, it came as no surprise that the Axcliffe Times, the local daily, had at the bottom of the front page several articles on the Delesian parliamentary elections. With a new government in the United Kingdom, foreign affairs had quieted throughout the Home Islands as the administration sorted out its domestic affairs. In Axcliffe, however, the sheer geographic proximity meant that Delesa was never out of mind--though in may respects the dull roars of turboprop engines and the throbbing of ferry diesel engines helped keep the transport links, at least, in mind.

And so it was that Holmes sat down on a wooden bench, beneath a large shade-providing tree, listening to the distant melodies of a guitarist and the undulating rythmns of some trash tins and other found objects punctuated by the occasional blast of a horn echoing in from the sea from some pleasure boat enjoying the warm, sunny day while his eyes scanned carefully over the blocks of serifed text so neatly arranged but so quickly smudged.

At the end of the page was a brief item reported from the paper's bureau in the UK capital. Holmes folded the paper in half to bring the text to a sharper focus and quickly digested the news. Nothing too surprising of course, the new government of Rodney Ingrahm had nothing official to say about the coming Delesian election other than to express Oceanian pleasure that democracies still exist and still soldier on in the face of the world's numerous totalitarian dictatorships. Another paragraph down, some quotes about solidarity and unity and then some about friendship and camaraderie. Between the lines, however, Holmes saw the important facts in the story, quite plain and simple really, maintaining the status quo.

Years, if not decades, of economic investment in Delesa not to mention defence contracts and security arrangements were profitable not just to Delesa, but also to the UK. Ingrahm and his Foreign Secretary, Gavin Astley, had every intention of maintaining that degree of profitability. That degree of stability.
