Van Luxemburg

Friday May 21st , 9:21 in the morning, A6 Motorway near Luxembourg
The BMW 5-series stationwagon slowly halted along the hard shoulder of the Autobahn. The vehicle, operated by the Motorway Police, or Autobahnpolizei, only used the amber lighting in the lightbar, indicating it wasn’t in a hurry to do their tasks. They had been called up because a driver reportedly had a tire blow-out, and that a piece of the tire was laying on the outer right lane.
The officer on the passenger seat got out of the car, while his colleague reported their arrival to the incident room, where they would remove the call from the ‘requiring attention’ list.
Meanwhile, his fellow officer had reached the car in front of them, which indeed missed a tire. However, the driver had already managed to remove it from the right lane, and was busy phoning with a dealership in order to let them tow his car away.
‘Everything is okay, Sir? I see you already removed the tire from the right lane. Can we be of service to you anyways?’ The officer interrupted the driver, which covered part of the telephone in order to reply.
‘Yes, Everything is okay, I’m trying to get my car towed away right now, everything should be okay.’
The officer nodded, and walked back to his car. He already had his summer uniform on, as a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius was pretty uncomfortable in a heavy weather-resistant winter coat. He greeted the man, who was still on the phone with his dealership, before getting into his car.
Suddenly, a bright flash erupted from the hill on which the Government buildings were constructed, followed by a thundering sound. The Government buildings were now almost empty, as they were busy moving to new construction across the city. However, a huge flame now broke out of one of the buildings, heading straight over several treetops. The officers had ducked behind their car during the explosion, and now slowly rose above the vehicle again, to see one of the buildings of the Ministry of Defence burning, while flames were also raising out of several other ministries. One of the officer got his radio and called up the Incident Room.
‘Central, this is 01-907. Explosion in the Ministerial District. Please verify.’
’01-907, Central here. We’re getting several calls here, I guess that means it’s verified. Your clearance is coming over C2000, Please stand by’
A few seconds later, the laptop computer on the dashboard of the BMW started beeping indicating they had a new order.
‘9:25:41 21-05-07 I POL PRIO 1 7891 MINISTRY OF DEFENCE, RUE DE BRIDEL 28, EXPLOSION (TYPE: GAS) ASSISTANCE FIRE PLEASE
01907 POL Autobahnpolizei Luxembourg (Patrol Vehicle)’
The vehicle immediately moved off, while the lightbar engaged and the two-tone sirens started to blare. From several other spots, the same two-tone sirens started to sound, aswell as the Three-tones of the Ambulance services and the Airhorns of the Fire Brigade. They all headed to one direction; the Ministerial District.
Several Minutes later…
The BMW had to employ an array of electrical systems to come to a full standstill. While the officers got out of their vehicle, one already on the phone with the Incident Room about sending more units, an Audi Rapid Response vehicle of the Fire Brigade came from the other side, halting his car in a somewhat more civilised manner. The vehicle was followed by a third car only seconds later, this time a Medical Rapid Responder. The driver parked his car inbetween the other two, while the airhorns of the firetrucks on the way quickly came closer.
‘Central, this is 01-907. We urgently need more units. I also want to upgrade this to a GRIP 1 situation.’
(OOC: Semi-Open. The Old Ministerial District is rather close to the embassies in Luxembourg, so it basically affects a lot of people, since there is a danger that the fire will head towards those embassies. Please TG me or contact me by MSN if you want to get involved. Also, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions. The incident has only just happened, there will not be that much media coverage right now. Only some people monitoring the C2000 communication system and people living in Luxembourg know about the incident right now.)
