DATELINE Krakana Island---Chancellor Zebidar made an impassioned speech to the members of the international community this morning via satellite transmission reagarding the events transpiring in RNA's regional neighbor, the Holy Empire of Landsalar. That nation's leader, Ekin Volshwa, caused an international incident when he declared himself "Lord God" of the region.
The Saudakar fleet of the RNA Navy was seen departing two days ago from Nautilus Island and Ceres Island, under orders to begin a blockade of Landsalar. Also, the airbase at Prometheus Island was abuzz with activity as squadrons from the RNA Air Corps scrambled for Landsalar, each plane carrying a heavy payload.
Chancellor Zebidar declined comment as he met with top military advisors at Krakana Island Palace this morning. However, earlier in the morning, the chancellor's office released the following statement:
"As of 3:19AM, Royal New Atlantis time, the Most High Chancellor of the Dominion of Royal New Atlantis, Franklin Zebidar, has decreed that there exists a state of war between the Dominion of Royal New Atlantis and the Holy Empire of Landsalar. This state of war shall continue until such time as the nation of Landsalar tenders an immediate surrender to RNA forces, or until Ekin Volshwa is removed from office. Upon said surrender or removal the nation of Landsalar shall be annexed and become part of the Dominion of Royal New Atlantis. Royal New Atlantis cannot, and will not, allow this madman Volshwa to threaten the safety and peace of our nation and region. Royal New Atlantis asks for the support of the international community in this undertaking, and prays that the war will not be an extended one."
Economists say that it is too early to tell what kind of effect the war will have on an already strained budget; however, it is projected that the gross national product, as well as the uranium mining industry as a whole, will benefit form the war effort.
In the capital city of Landsalar, Volshwa City, the populace was seen demonstrating outside Palace Volshwa with placards that read "VOLSHWA IS GOD" and "PRAISE BE TO EKIN CHRIST". Ekin Volshwa declined comment to this news publication, stating that he was "too holy to deal with puke-soaked vermin like yourselves". However, a source close to Volshwa who called himself "the Prophet of Ekin", said that Volshwa was expected to address the international community within the next 24 hours.
