IC: The Dictatorial State of Red Tide, even after abandoning Communism and moving to State Capitalism, still remained a secular and, to some extent, athiestic soceity. All religions were tolerated assuming they paid their taxes and never, ever went against the goverment. Those who actually helped the goverment sometimes recieved rewards, such as limited tax exemption. Buddhism had once learned all this the hard way during the time of the Corporate Dictatorship, via peacefully organising protests. The religion had been banned in Red Tide and their members shipped to Gulags and Mining camps in the Southern mountains.

But goverments changed, and Buddhism was allowed back in. Certainly enough, they had learned not to piss off the Goverment. However, there were many more religions in the DSRT. A muslim extremist group had emerged in the countryside, ambushing police patrols and attacking NKVD installations. Most of these attacks failed, were easily hushed up, and those who carried them out suffered sudden cerebral hemorrhages... from a bullet to the back of the head of course. After awhile, the attacks stopped altogether, and the goverment thought the organisation had learned to not mess around.

Which is why it was quite a surprise when several apartment buildings in the residential district of the city of Crig blew up, killing hundreds of people. Quickly, the same extremist group announced its responsibility. Instead of labelling it a gas explosion, the Red Tidean Goverment decided to take a different tact.

The words RTTN flashed across the screen, as news anchor Tatania Kapinski flashed pepared for he broadcast. The words faded and Kapinski turned towards the television camera's.

"Greetings citizens of Red Tide, welcome to RTTN." She said in that all-to-cheerful tone of hers. "In todays top story. The Muslim Religion has officially been banned in the DSRT. This extremist religion was the perpertrator of a vile terrorist attack that killed hundreds of Red Tide Citizens."

"It is in the best interest for all true Red Tidean Citizens to hunt down and destroy these extremists. This malevolent organisation has brought nothing but misery on the world, today that will change. Moving on..."

In the meantime... special NKVD Units in major Red Tidean Cities recieved new orders.

OOC: As usual, none of this reflects my stance or views on the Muslim religion and it is not intended to OOCly offend anyone, etc.

*Official Communique from the government of the Republic of Iragia*

The people of Iragia, as represented by the Republic's elected parliament, condemn the banning of one of the world's major religions. The rank and file of Islam are good people, like any other human being, and the actions of an extremist fringe group should not be held against them. While we recognize the need for a government to protect its citizens the practice of outlawing a religion and taking action against its adherents due to their beliefs is wrong and violates the fundamental human rights of said group.

Furthermore, if the Tidean government, a government which once stood in the service of freedom and humanity when its forces took action against the oppressive and corrupt regime of the Premier-General not so long ago, insists on taking these actions than the Republic of Iraiga offers safe haven to all Tidean citizens of the muslim faith.

The Errikan government, while not condoning statist oppression, is ever supportive of the sovereign right of nations to do whatever they want within their borders and recognizing the responsibility of governments to protect their people from military threats.

Good luck with that.

Official Statement From The Honako Independence Commission

We believe that the banning of the Muslim faith is wrong, not just cause we are against banning a major faith despite our agnostic views, we also believe that by banning this faith you are not deterring these extremists - but making them stronger. They now will be more determined to fight for their religion, and as you have banned other innocents from practicing their religion of choice, they may receive more support also.

It's your country, but we feel a crackdown on the terrorists would of had a better effect.

The goverments and organisations that took note never recieved their response... the Red Tide Goverment just ignored them as trivial.

Capitol of Ariga...

"The infidel has attempted to oppress the sons and daughters of the Allah! These intolerant-"

BAM!

The Sunni cleric preaching in the largest Sunni mosque in Red Tide felt no pain as a sniper bullet entered his head, quickly, the Red Tidean NKVD stormed the place, submachineguns at the ready. A few muslims tried to flee, but were stopped at the door. One produced a .22 pistol(the only ones allowed to civilians in Red Tide) and fired it at a NKVD Agent. He was quickly gunned down.

After the initial panic, the worshippers watched in wide eyed horror as a G-Man strode into the Mosque.

"You have all been found guilty of participating in a illegal organisation. As such, your punishment is death." He said with a wicked smile.

Then the Agents coolly lifted their guns and let loose with a volley of submachine gun fire. After everbody was dead, they left the mosque, barred all the doors, and then began to throw torches into the windows. It wasnt long before the mosque was burning. Firefighters stood at nearby buildings, they had been told not to put out the fire on the mosque, but make sure it didnt spread to nearby buildings. And so they did...

All across every major city in Red Tide, squads of NKVD Agents slaughtered the prayer service to mosques and then had said mosques burned to the ground.

It was merely a prelude...
