Border Dispute

Night - Undershi-Jaredcohenian Fronteir

Josef Vanderstadt, Sergeant in the IIS, looked out into the night with his helmet optics set to night vision. He looked out across the open steppes of the fronteir, and he smilled. Tonight was thr night. A provocation, a little act... and then war? Perhaps. Perhaps a short, victorious, war. Perhaps.

Noon - Undershi Embassy in Jaredcohenia

The ambassador frowned. He had just sent the message his Leader had wanted of him, demanding the south-eastern peninsula of Jaredcohenia... and now he waited. He expected war, or at the very least a little shooting. Nothing unusual. He only hoped it wouldn't damage Undershi-Jaredcohenian relations too badly...

Night - Undershi-Jaredcohenian Fronteir

The ultimatum had yet to be accepted... and so a squad of IIS men in black armour crawled across the border, towards a Jaredcohenian outpost. A raid. A little raid, to prick the flank of the beast, and remind it of the need to obey. They thought. They hoped.
A short skirmish, then back across the fronteir, with ears for their belts and enemy dead to remind their government of its needs. They thought. They hoped.
A short war. A victorious war. They thought. They hoped.

FIREN MILITARY BASE, MAHLASAH, JAREDCOHENIA

"What the fuck are they doing?" Brigadier General Albert Vasilov looked at cameras showing large amounts of Undershians heading towards some abandoned outpost. "Don't they remember that Tripartite shit?"

"I guess not, they may be superhumans but they're not bright." Major General Russell Heisenstein added. "Send out a message asking them what they're doing and why are they invading Jaredcohenia."

OOC: I'm not sending 'massive numbers of troops across the border - only two squads of IIS Storm Trooper Special Operations troopers. Also, they're supposed to infiltrate, not march in...

IIS Bunkers Underneath Undershi City

Aleksander Miller, Leader of the Greater Undershi Empire, sat quietly at his desk, reading the latest reply from the Jaredcohenians. Typical.
The norms refused his territorial demands - also typical. The demands had been intentionally vague, intentionally obscure... the whole point had been to incite the Jaredcohenians into some reply that would give the Undershi the room to act that they required.
And act they would...
The Leader of the Undershi, the uncontested, unelected, ruler of over two billion people, smilled, and ordered the heads of the various departments to assemble in two hours, for a special meeting. They had things to discuss. The fighting with Jaredcohenia that would come would be small scale, hopefully, but it would be fighting... and so there were things to discuss.
For a moment, he wondered what to use as his official excuse for why Undershi soldiers would soon begin raiding Jaredcohenian bases... and then he had his answer. Blame it on disaffected Liberals who'd escaped the crucifixtions and firing squads of the Hardliner coup.
He smilled - the perfect solution. It would even give him the reason he needed to round up the last of the remaining Liberals, as well as those with Questionable loyalty. How... how fitting.
When he finally left his office, Aleksander Miller was smilling. Even if they did not secure additional territory in their war with the Jaredcohenians, they would profit none the less...

"Brigadier Vasilov...what the hell is wrong with you? On the radar...those aren't people. That's a smudge." spoke Mjr. Gen. Heisenstein.

"A smudge?"

"Yes, it looks like it is mustard." He scooped a bit with his finger and tasted it. "Zesty Brown mustard. You moron. And who would even want northern Mahlasah? It's an inhospitable area-devoid of any life."

"How is the border situation, anyways? I mean...there are a few abandoned outposts that we used once and then we got better ones. And damnit, why hasn't Coheningrad sent us the newer tanks?"

"Because they're cheap Jews in Coheningrad."

"We're both Jewish, you know."

On the Undershi/Mahlasah border, it was normal military action. Tanks drove along, men marched, and so forth.

Little was known what was going to happen.

The IIS men had found their target. A few squads of men around an older building... prepared positions, sure... but that was what grenades were for.
Their sergeant looked the terrain over, then gave orders... and then waited for his team to reach their positions.
When they were ready... when they were ready, he clicked his comm twice, and then they opened fire with their grenade launchers...

"What the hell is going on? We've been attacked!" a man watching a computer monitor screamed; while most outposts were either empty or housed by few, there were cameras scattered all across the eastern jungle. "Quadrant 8 was apparently struck by an explosive device, sir."

"What do you mean 'Quadrant 8 was apparently struck by an explosive device', are you saying someone dare attack us?" Mjr. Gen. Heisenstein asked. "An attack from the east-either we got ourselves some partisians or those loonies in Undershi have attacked us."

"Why would they attack us, Major General? They know that we're in the Triparitite Pact with them."

"Clearly, they're morons. They dare awake the hibernating Bear? They know the outcome. Vasilov, dispatch whatever Battlestations we have to Quadrant 8 and send around 50,000 troops over there. If it's Undershi...well...they got some 'splainin to do."

"Yes, sir." Yasilov answered, saluting to his commanding officer. "But do we inform Coheningrad?"

"We will wait a little bit, if we really need the help." Heisenstein replied. "If it is Undershi, I only hope the Premier does not have another heart attack in anger."

SIC:

Upon Mjr. Gen. Heisenstein's orders, Vasilov headed a division of soldiers in the FIREN area. They were to head north east, into the deep jungle where Jaredcohenia was attacked. With him:

50,000 Jaredcohenian soldiers
12,500 conscripts
500 Battlestation Heavy Tanks
125 Plumbonium class strategic bombers

He headed steadily towards Quadrant 8, an area bordering Undershi. He was coming from the central-southern region of FIREN, if he needed he would call men from CHARGIN to assist.
