Errikland

(OOC: This is sort of a beginner thread for a new nation. A friend of mine wanted a nation, and I thought that this would be a good place to get it from)
(OOC 2: Sorry Zuk, but I could not keep waiting for word back from you. If you do not like this, feel free to ignore it)
Though some of the vast territory that the Errikan Empire had acquired from Albu-querque on the main continent of Northern Arterus had quickly and comfortably been absorbed into the Empire, with swift heavy Errikan settlement and development, much of it had not been. These areas had long had notable local populations; these populations had coexisted with and, in some cases, absorbed or been absorbed by the societies of the earlier colonizers, who had done little in terms of military conquest and destruction.
Though the Querqan invasions had been different, the destruction had been, in comparison to the Errikan conquests to the south, very limited, and population replacement and consolidation equally lacking, with the somewhat heavier colonization of Querqs essentially following the patters set by earlier colonizers in the area during the years of occupation. When the territory was transferred to Errikan control, few of the Querqs left and much of the existing social order had been undisturbed, though there was notable migration and significant private development of infrastructure.
Nearly twenty years of Errikan control of the territory had passed; for the most part, these years had been very uneventful. However, quite recently a strong movement had developed in support of independence and nationhood; a shocking concept, being that there had not been an independent Arterusian nation since the fall of the Kukar nation in the early days of colonial rule. Still, the movement had gained great momentum, and could be denied no longer. The Errikans would have to take some sort of action.
ENN Special Report:
Querk Districts Given Autonomy
The Senate today gave its approval today to the secession of the Querk Districts of Errikan Arterus. This followed the approval of the Errikan Arterusian Senate, and was the second to last step necessary to secure independence. The approval of the Emperor, the final step, is already assured; though it would seem to conflict with the concept of bayonet sovereignty, of which the Emperor is a wholehearted supporter, he officially endorsed the movement when it came before the colonial government.
