Romandeos National News Broadcast.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the RNN Morning Broadcast. Talk in the Parliament Hall has become very interesting lately as rumors that the regent will be lifted to the status of monarch sometime in the next few days are flying around the capital like wildfire. Taunja Lockeheart is considered a national hero by many and has ruled with iron solidity since being elected regent by the Parliament. However, many in Parliament’s honored ranks say they would oppose any motion by Lockeheart or anybody else that was lacking direct support from the population to take the crown.

Inquiries to the Ministry of State and various government officials have gone unanswered in spite of the best efforts of RNN reporters and Regent Lockeheart is not talking, leaving information on this subject regulated entirely to rumors.

RNN Follow-up Broadcast (Being for the benefit of foreign viewers).

Hello once more, loyal viewers. To begin with, we have more information regarding what is fast developing into the biggest talk of the nation.

Regent Taunja Lockeheart, who has served in that post since King Christian I Woodburne lost his life back when the Generation Disease was still alive in this nation, has confirmed it has been suggested that she take the throne, and soon. She has also said that she doesn’t intend to take it in the immediate future, as she is hoping that somebody related to the last king can be found before too much time has passed. Hopes that this will occur are getting increasingly weak as seven years have already gone by.

Lockeheart’s strongest supporters have even stated that the last king was irresponsible, he let the Generation Disease be unleashed on Romandeos and his line should not be kept on in the role of the nation’s Royal Household.

Her opponents are divided in to many camps. There are those who would not mind giving her the crown if she had official majority support around the nation, but would oppose the illegal direct seizure of the crown without public consent. Others oppose what Lockeheart likely would do once she had the throne. Lockeheart makes no great secret of the fact that her heart is set on war with Otagia, the nation which released the Generation Disease and killed several hundred thousand innocent Romandeosians.

Moving on, a proposed smoking ban in restaurants is up for debate in…

Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt the regularly scheduled daily programming to tell you it has been confirmed that in an early morning cabinet meeting Regent Taunja Lockeheart issued a decree ordering that she be named Queen of Romandeos.

Exactly when the coronation will take place has not been made public and Lockeheart has kept very silent following the initial announcements. Government representatives will not let anyone in on any details thus far, but private sources have informed us that the process is likely to be carried out within just a few weeks. Already great outcry is being heard and individuals opposed to Lockeheart are on the move.

Keep watching for more on this as it develops.

Kaiser Konrad II of Zukariaa stood on the balcony of his office on the third floor of his palace. He watched Zukariaan citizens pass below as they went to view many of his purchased masterpieces in the first floor, which was almost like a massive museum. Several of them noticed him and waved at him, or showed their children who he was. He nodded towards them, without giving any real acknowledgement. He was the absolute ruler of Zukariaa, after all.

Just then, one of his messangers came in, saying to the Kaiser,"Your majesty, urgent news has reached us of the situation in Romandeos."

The diplomatic standoff between Zukariaa and Romandeos was very well known throughout the nation. The Kaisers stance against the Romandeonesian claims for payment for damages from a nuclear weapon fired from Zukariaa during it's civil war was widely supported throughout the nation, as the people were strongly against their tax money being used on foreignors.

"Yes, what is it?" Konrad asked, turning towards messanger.

"The Regent, Taunja Lockeheart, has just siezed control of the government, sire." the messanger replied.

“I simply cannot believe Lockeheart has done this!”

Isiah Shores (Mytanteos – Nat’l Republicans) was incensed. As an NRP man, he opposed letting anybody be a monarch in his homeland, and having somebody take the crown with little to no official support just irked him past words.

“I know it’s a bit annoying Isiah,” his aide, Owen Worthington began.

“Annoying?” Shores cut him short. “It’s more than that, Owen, it’s infuriating. Monarchy is dead, and Lockeheart just can not seem to realize that.”

“I guess not, Isiah,” Worthington replied. “But she has the Armed Forces, and Parliament is essentially powerless with Martial Law, save as advisors.”

“Basically, we’re a glorified Privy Council,” Shores agreed.

Regent Taunja Lockeheart, soon to be Queen Taunja I Lockeheart of Romandeos glanced longingly at the bed across the room and sighed hard. She wanted to sleep, but she had all kinds of work to do yet and it could not be postponed. That she could even sit down made her feel good by itself, as she had been walking around a lot. Now she just had some calls left to make, and a few more papers to sign, and…

Her thoughts were stopped by a knocking sound.

“Come in!” she called, suppressing a loud groan. The door opened, and a young secretary looked in holding a folder in her hands.

“Excellency, we have a message from the Zukariaans.”

“It’s from the Zukariaans?” Lockeheart looked up. “Bring it here.”

Moments later………

“He thinks he can frighten me into stopping, does he?” Lockeheart snorted.

Excellency,

Note if you will that I am presently the appointed Regent of Romandeos by Parliamentary Directive. Therefore, my actions are not illegal, as the Regent’s word is law.

Note also that since my appointment as Regent, I have made every effort to locate anyone in this nation related in some way to the dead King, and this has failed. Therefore, as the Regent I must keep the nation stable by any means necessary. If this requires taking the crown, then that is what I will do, without hesitating.

Note also that threats to break contact between Zukariaa and Romandeos will not stop me in my course. I will protect Romandeos.

But we usually meet potential clients by hiding in their offices and scaring the crap out of them. then we give them a chance to accept our services. I could set it up for you if you like.

“Is that confirmed?” he inquired. His voice was weary.

“It’s a sure thing,” Worthington replied. “The source is good.”

“Then it is settled.” Shores set the drink down on the table. “We should get started setting it all up. I have some phone calls I need to make.”

I have abused nothing. Romandeosian written law states that if the reigning Monarch dies leaving no heir, and no relatives, the Regent can, and should take the crown. While such a horrible event has not taken place in centuries, this law is still in force. I think Romandeos has been ruled by regency long enough that just not seeing soldiers everywhere will most likely keep the majority of the people on my side.

It strikes me as humorous that you of all people should chastise me for seizing office with how the High Commander’s death came about. Isn’t it convenient that his assassin was so immediately and brutally dealt with before he could be questioned?

If you're trying to say that I have taken any power from my people after the High Commander was killed, you are mistaken. Unlike Romandeos, Zukariaa has always been an autocratic state. Furthermore, I find it quite odd that not a single Romandeosian is related to your deceased king. In a sea of so many billions of people, you are telling me that not a single person is a relative? Smells like bullshit. If your government was competant at all, you would be able to locate the kings relatives and put them to their obligational duties.

Excellency,

It seems you lack significant knowledge regarding the Romandeosian Crown and how the kings and queens of this nation come to office, and also how citizens related to them are regarded in this modern and enlightened period in history.

Romandeosian monarchs and the immediate Royal Family possess the appropriate offices long associated with such people. Everybody else is a normal Citizen, and bears no title, a little measure we instituted in the distant past. In an extreme situation such a person could indeed be called to take on the Crown, but, unlike the direct Royalty, the law does not require in any way said person’s compliance with this call.

Are you telling me that you did not have an extensive list of all possible heirs to the throne? It is standard for any monarchy to do so. It is the responsible thing. Even if they are not bound by law to take up that position, it would make it much easier to locate a relative who would be willing to do so.

Indeed, we do maintain such a list, but, it does not go very far, and the Woodburne line is incredibly short by the normal standard. Exactly how many on that list could be contacted is strictly guarded confidential information but it is obvious that any who were either had little desire to take the crown, or could not take it.

Just as Konrad finished sending off his latest message, the voice of the agent could be heard. His heart skipped a beat, but he maintained his composure. He looked at the man. His immidiate reaction was to ready his personal pistol, which he had with him at all times as a security measure.

"Who the hell are you? Explain to me why I shouldn't have my guard come in here and splatter your goddamn brains across the floor." he said, sternly. His face took on an obviously angry tone. He had developed then entire security system of the immidiate area around his office, the fact that a single man could get through with such ease had caused his ego to take a dive.

The Agent giggled alittle at the Kaisers reaction. It was normal for one to react that way.

" I wouldn't take a liking to you weapon. It may be hazordious to your health. And your guards would be better sent to the frontline as they would have a better chance at living. And besides Im here to give you a chance to make this Queen Lockhart a thing of the past. "

The agent was a little opn the layed back side but he was also confident that the Kaiser would not make any haste action.

Despite the fact that this foreignor had broken into his office and was illegally trespassing on royal grounds, Konrad suddenly got the idea that if this man had been able to get into his office with such ease, despite the fact that he had a personal guard of some 5000 men crawling around the palace, then he would be well worth the investment. This man would have no problem getting to Lockeheart, and he would remove a thorn in the Kaiser's side once and for all.

"Oh really? And how much do such services cost?" he asked, calming down and putting his pistol away,"Oh, and while you are around me, do not ever insult a Zukariaan in that way again." The Kaiser was referring to the Agent's comment that the Kaiser's personal guardsmen's lives would be wasted if they were to come into his office in his defence.

The Agent nodded slighty and acknowlaged the Kasiers wishes about such comments about his military personnel. His response was one of compose:

" Of course sir. I didn't mean to say that they are inferior soldiers. Infact I am sure they are fine soldiers. As interms of my services costs... I run around the price of 20 million usd. And I am one of the cheap ones. But with this one low price I also offer the chance of collateral damage, extra personnel loss, and an extra Brutal assassination worthy of the International news attention." The Agent said most of everything witha stright face, exept for the part about the low price.

The Agent walked around the office abit. Patting his scabberd he stopped before the door and looked up. His helmet offering little resistance to his looking around....

" So do we have a deal?" Asked the agent as he held his hand to the scabberd.
