OOC:Forgive me for the first link I couldnt resist.
Kristina (http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40990000/jpg/_40990308_pg_emma_pa_good.jpg) stood nervously. She shifted her weight from foot to foot and waited for the signal to go. She could hear the 220 000 people outside the Shakal House Of Wills Building (http://www.ukexpert.co.uk/photopost/showfull.php?photo=15357) waiting for her crowning as Empress. It was only a week ago that her father passed away. This left her as the reigning monarch, it would be the first time in Shakal history that an Empress rather than an emperor wuld reign over the people.
"Calm down." Derrick (http://www.1914-1918.be/photos/rommel/foch_009.jpg) said walking up beside her. She swung her head around and glared at him. The head of herImperial Godess Guards (http://www.sighost.org/sigs/helghast.jpg) was actually even younger than she was. Her 18th birthday had just gone bye three months ago, just before the Shakal-MtMoArbiter War. He was only 17 when it began, but he lead a small group of tanks after the CO was taken out leading to the Great Charge winning him a medal or two on the way. He just turned 18 a week ago. "With all your damn fidgiting your making me nervous." He added.
"I cant help it." Kristina said fixing her eyes on him.
"You hae nothing to worry about." He said adjusting his uniform and looking at her dress for the occasion. The Shakal had always had a strong sense of military tradition and she wasnt the kind of person that sent that kind of aura."The people will love you as they loved your father." He told her reassuringly. She smiled.
"I sure hope your right or youl be dead by morning." The Shakal were conservative people. They accepted change slowly.
"Im just glad I dont have to say anything to those people." Derrick said. Teh signal was given and the Empress to be walked out onto the balcony and inhaled sharply at the sheer number of people there. They cheered as they saw Derrick move off to the right. They quieted when She stepped out after him. It was tradition for the new monarch to follow their Guard Head.
The massive flagpoles set up for the occasion bore the Shakal flag and waved gently in the breeze.
It was also tradition for the new Emperor to only speak after recieving the sword. They would then state their name and age for the people followed by a very small public announcement of new information.
Derrick watched as the director of ceremonies silently passed Kristina the sword and began to read the list of reponsibilities associated with the matter.
He scanned the crowd, everything was as it should be. The Imperial Godess Guards were in a three man deep line in front of parliment and the people were properly quiet. Derrick looked back over at his Empress. He had met her only 5 years before, while they were still in school. She was hidden as the Emperor's daughter to protect her.
She stood after the reading and looked over the crowd of people. It spread so far she could just make out the ending of the crowd.
"People. I am Kristina Schraepl II." The crowd cheered for her. She waited for quiet. "I may be a mere 18 years old, but my father gave me asked me to be your new Empress with some of his last breaths. He could have appointed someone older and more experienced, but he chose me, his daughter to lead our people into the new era of the Empire." The crowd cheered and she left the balcony shortly after.
"Well, that was fun." Derrick said smiling as she exhaled finally once they were inside with the ministers. It would be interesting indeed.
"Now all I have to do is go home and read the 2000 page book on Imperial Law." She said grinning. The sword looked out of place in her smal hands. It was then that a small mall with large glasses came up and bowed to her. The entire outer presentation had been broadcast internationally.
"Empress, I have news you may find as a slight problem." He remained bowing and slowly took a step back.
"What is it Gregory?" The man had been her father said for almost twelve years.
"I was reading the Imperial Law to make it succinct for you ans I found that it says..."
"Says what Gregory?" Her tone was stern.
"It says that should an Empress ever reign she must be married within a month of the ceremony or lose the Empresship." He backed away carefully. Imperial Law couldnt be changes, not even by the Empress or Emperor. Kristina wore a blank look on her face and said nothing.
"It could be wrse." Derrick saidas they walked into the garage to her limosine with the Guard trailing. "You could have to have a child within that month." Derrick joked to lighten the mood.
"It not the fact of time that scares me." She said. "Its finind someone that I can marry."
After the Empress left in the Limosine Derrick and the men followed in the tanks. After they left a man came out of the shadows wih a tape recorder, turned it off and smiled.
OOC:Wow longish... BTW the guy gives it away to the media and thats how word gets out.
