CRAVNA, Cravan - It has been confirmed that Emperor Matthew Craven I, age 46, is stepping down as Emperor of Cravan. After over twenty-one years in office, the Emperor has managed to capture the hearts and minds of the populace on numerous occasions.
Ushered into office after the tragic death of father Emperor Robert I, Emperor Craven was coronated on November 16th, 1986 in the Imperial Cathedral of Cravna. (although a Catholic house of worship, the ceremony was secular) He then proceeded to enact widespread reforms, holding much influence with the Senate and Cabinet of Directors. The young, charismatic 26 year old monarch was, and does still remain, a key figure in everyday Cravanian life.
It was under Emperor Craven that the Empire which we know today came into being. Formerly known as the "Democratic Empire", Cravan underwent a name change in 1995 to become the "Libertarian Empire", to represent the Emperor's libertarian reforms of the nation. In the 1996 Senate elections, the Imperial Libertarian Party won by a landslide, and have since been the dominant party in the Senate, beating the Conservative Party by merely twenty chairs.
The reign of our current Emperor Craven has also seen numerous Cabinet changes, with four seperate Head Directors serving under him. In order, they are Jennifer Galert (C), Enrique Cartamone (L), Kenneth Jeskart (L), and current Head Director Vince Gallens (C).
The announced heir to the Imperial Throne is Crown Prince Robert Craven II, age 22. Robert is currently married and expecting the birth of a daughter, and is a graduate of the Imperial Cravanian Air Force Academy, where he majored in Aerospace Engineering like his father.
The Coronation is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 4th. Security will be tight, and only dignitaries from closely allied nations will be permitted entry to the ceremonies. Emperor Matthew is still undecided on his retirement plans, but he is quoted as saying he is "Getting the f**k out of this city.", referring to the capital, Cravna.
((OOC: So, essentially, I just want to change my country's monarch. If you're an ally of mine, feel free to RP your arrival and junk. If not, you can voice support or wish the retiring Emperor well. This really won't change anything other than the name of my ruler, if you were wondering.
Also, under no circumstances are there to be assassination attempts, terrorist attacks, etc. I want to keep this short, straight, and to the point as I had planned it. This isn't to become a full-fledged RP as I simply haven't the time to take it on. So I'll post gratitude and such for well-wishers, but I'm not willing to let this grow. Allies can RP their arrival and junk and that's that. You can say you were there.
I plan on using the retiring Emperor quite alot in the future as someone to travel to other countries and... stuff. And he's going to have a castle in my colony located in Haven, which is on the tip of Northford. It's a very nice castle, too. With marble. And... wood. And puppies. Yeah. Puppies.))
