NationStates Tech Design IRC Channel

I just wanted to give another shot at telling people that there is an IRC channel for people who are interested in tech design, want reviews or advice and what not. The channel is tied to both the NS Draftroom and Lineartinc - two forums directly related to this game. If you're interested the channel is on:

irc.esper.net

The channel name is:

#draftroom

Channel port should be 6667.

We have an IRC chat?

Who do you by 'we'? Nationstates has one as well - as does International Incidents, although not much people in it.

Yes, #nationstates is the major RP-related IRC channel around, as #internationalincidents and #nationstates_roleplay are mostly inactive. The vast majority of #nationstates members tend to be Mars or ToY/NDA/APN members, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

I would use a proper IRC program - I can guide you through if you use Firefox and download Chatzilla. Failing that, I would download mIRC.

Type irc://irc.esper.net/ into the client window. If it doesn't automatically open, click on it and it will.

Once the irc.esper.net tab opens, type /join #channel (substitute #channel for the name of the channel you wish to join, i.e. #draftroom, #nationstates, etc.). Another tab should then open displaying whatever channel you chose to join.

I've got chatzilla running, what should i type in to get to the chat? Once i know the very basics i can work on learning the rest i expect.

mac, might wanna edit this in:
The server is irc.esper.net, this ocnnects you to a random server on the esper network.
The port you should use is 6667.
Then just go to the channel #draftroom or type /join #draftroom and you're there.

also welcome to our channel -.-

also sarz doesn't like our channel so its really more to do with II and LINC :-p but we're all clientele of the draftroom anyway.

I dunno, most IRC clients automatically configure it to use port 6667 anyway.... at least in my experience, which doesn't cover mIRC or any other Windows-based IRC clients.

Yes, they do, but some people like to edit ports, or maybe their clients don't, or in any case it might juts be useful confirmation they're doing it right.

Stupid firewall, i got to esper but it gets closed, i'll get it sorted soon as poss, then i'll be able to get on there.

Thanks The Galirandi for the info!

EDIT- Where can i change the ZA settings to allow me to join IRC? keep in mind this is the basic version(im not using anything else atm) and so i can't change it to simply allow IRC (that i know of)
