The above thread it to the prelude of this RP. I've decided to move it to another thread because the first one was cluttered with OOC junk and uberfleets.

The RP will concentrate on the ground invasion of Sondaica by the Tyranid, and upon those characters still in space. It'll end either when everyone dies, or they manage to escape the planet surface/the Sondaican system.

Telros, Solarin League, and Ambrosia Incorporated are still welcome, if they still want to join. If anyone else wants to sign up, do so here and post the forces you intent to send. Keep in mind that this will be a mostly character-based RP.

I'll be RPing as my forces and the Tyranid. Anyone is welcome to take over some of the Tyranid, but I'll have overall control of them to ensure that the RP keeps going.

RPers and their forces
Ezaltia - Deathwatch killteam
The World Soviet Party - detachment of Silver Fists/Argenum Prime's 1st
Toops - Imperial Guard Regiment
Telros - Mobile Infantry/A couple of destroyers
Aelosia - Eldar
Halle Iesu - Eldar, Farseer Tareleyan
Krrck
Azaha - Tyranid

Aaaah, I've been waiting for this to restart, besides I owe ye GTR :P

I'll send in a Regiment of Imperial Guardsmen from my as of yet un-named Asianic Province, cos I've got lots of potential characters in that area that are so far un-used.

Of course.

The above link has pretty much all the info you need. (It's where I learned nearly everything I know about 40K... well, that and RPing)

Sure is. :D Good to have you aboard.
How many soldiers are you sending, and what chapter are they, btw?

Hmmm....well GTR, take a look at my factbook if you want to know about my military, anyone can if they want, but anyways. Yes, I am up for it. I will be contributing little but my troops are awesome, so anyways. My forces still stand, a destroyer and two corvettes, along with their troops complements. I can launch them from orbit, and if any of you have read the Starship Troopers book, you know whats coming.

=P.

As for my contribution, I have on each of my ships, 1206 troopers, but they work in squads, so around 241 squads (five people, Lieutenant, Sarge, and three privates.). So, around 723 squads, made up of 3618 troopers. I won't be using them all and the ones I do use, will be characters themselves. Mostly, they will be sent in squads, with either the powerful main Power Suits or the secondary Power Suits, still good but not as kickass.

There'll be about 50 Space Marines along with a Chaplain and several apothecaries from the Silver Fists chapter.
And about 6,000 guards, complete with Leman Russes, Basilisks and one Baneblade. From the Argentum Prime's 1st regiment.

I recommend you two work together.

For a twist, I'll send an eldar pirate prince in command of a flotilla. That means I will only have some guardians and rangers as a fast deep strike force.

The Prince Admiral, being a former Dire Avenger, will have some help from his comrades. I think that's all, just light infantry, designed to hit and run attacks. Think of them as a loose brotherhood of paratroopers, (swooping hawks included)

No vehicles. No warlocks. No Farseers. No Wraiththings.

Perhaps the strongest force I could muster is the flotilla itself, formed by several raiding eldar cruisers with their escort. That iinclude Phoenix and Vampire Raider aircrafts making bombing raids over the massed tyranids in the planet.

Mensha Khaine!

I'll leave that for my partner. And yes, we can work together, that will add some flavor to the rp, the rather roguish pirate captain working alongside the stiff Farseer ;)

And thanks, I didn't know I was being read

Now that I know that this thread requires much less RAWR and more finesse than the usual II RP, I'd be interested in giving it a second try - probably cutting/retconning the force involved to 1 Rapid Attack cruiser (the model I tried using in my initial post) + 3 Mark VII cruisers (a much older and more inefficient model) + 7 troop carriers (unarmed)

As per your requests, I would transition to a much more character-oriented, ground-combat story, although if I kept to my usual style several of the characters would be AIs - is this acceptable?

Adding details, the Pirate Prince Farisel, former Exarch of the Biel Tan's Craftworld Dire Avenger temple, is in command of a rather powerful but small flotilla, and he is serving as a corsair under payment from the Halle Iesu Craftworld (I hope I got that part ok?).

Farisel is a stern, emotionally detached and quiet eldar, looking to master new views on his tactics by facing different enemies. Due to his mercenary nature, he is a rather uncommitted commander, not willing to place his men on suicidal missions. Although he is a gifted Admiral of his flotilla, greatly skilled in the arts of orbital and outer space combat, due to lack of extensive experience he doesn't have too much expertise regarding ground operations. Both himself and his forces are more used to fight in the closed corridors of ships during boarding actions, than in the open spaces of a planet's surface. He knows the best advantage he has in the coming conflict are his ace pilots, known and feared across the galaxy, and little else.

He then will add his mercenary forces to the expedition under the command of the Farseer Tareleyan in the aid of the forces beleaguered under the tyranid attack, for reasons only known to the Farseer, in exchange for the needed technical and technological upkeep of his ships in the Halle Iesu docks, (typical Craftworld eldar's manouver, unwilling to compromise their entire forces and hiring mercenaries, even if they are eldar mercenaries).

The flotilla is composed by Farisel's flagship, the Nimilai, a rather refitted and customized Shadow Class cruiser, with two squadrons of three frigates as its escort, and two Eclipse Class cruiser-carriers, that transport both the atmospherical and orbital aircrafts and the ground forces of the Prince. Two squadrons of destroyers, six ships each, complete the roster.

The carriers can deploy a rather large amount of Nightwing and Phoenix atmospherical fighter squadrons alongside Vampire Raider and Hunter Bombers, to aid the ground forces to achieve the air superiority needed to win a battle against the tyranids. The pilots, recruited amongst the rejected and rebels of several Craftworld's aerial commands and fleets, are veterans of hundreds of raids and orbital battles, used to fly in close manouvers around enemy dreadnoughts in dog chases with another aircrafts. The inertialess drives of the customized planes they own help them to achieve complex flying manouvers almost impossible to accomplish. For them, atmospheric missions are just dull assigments.

However, the ground forces available to the Prince are scarce, as he also wants to keep his ships with a significant amount of crew in the case of deadly tyranid boarding actions attempted on his precious vessels. Just several squads of air dropped paratrooper squads comprised of Biel Tan trained Swooping Hawks Aspect Warriors, Dire Avengers troops, and Alaitoc adventuring rangers. A single squad of Striking Scorpions is one of the most valuable assets under the command of Farisel, due to their reckless nature, high morale, and above average skill.

The force will be a mobile one, designed for flank manouvers, recon missions, and surprise attacks. The squads are able to fast deploy from the space with surgeon precision, and withdraw with the same speed. However, due to inferior numbers and heavy equipment, they are not able to hold lines or engage the tyranids head-on. They are lucky if they ever get a wave serpent transport, or a Vyper support bike, so if they are pressed by the swarm, they will get on trouble. In other words, they are commando squads, usually just dropping in the field to mark the enemy positions, in order to call aerial strikes and bombing raids against weak spots on the enemy lines.

Also, given their experience fighting boarding actions in the confined spaces of large orbital vessels and space stations, they are more fitted to fight in urban environments, quite good at missions of assaulting or defending constructions, facilities, bunkers, or other enclosed scenarios, even if they are outnumbered. However, they are not at all equipped or trained to fight in open or large natural areas. Their scouts are not even used to natural environments as their common kin, they're not pathfinders, but more like urban guerrilla snipers.

Even although they are a disciplined and loyal group, with high morale, they have no established chain of command but the authority of each squad leader, usually an exarch or a sergeant of some sort, and the orders of the Prince himself, and that can bring issues regarding organization. The typical eldar arrogance can also bring problems when they try to fight alongside soldiers of other armies and races. Even more, they resent their own Craftworld's employers, after all they are rejects and rebels from their rule, and will not obey orders from the Farseer unless the commands are approved by their Prince.

Those are the main advantages, and weakness of the Pirate Prince Farisel's expeditionary forces. I hope this bit of tactical background is ok.

I'd be happy RPing one of your Hive tyrants and his subsequent brood. But I also have my own forces RP'd out, most notably a 'king' I have. King Nerasfatu, the being I created so my 'Nids could have some sort of character RP's.
Halle Iesu

Farseer Tareleyan is directing and controlling the task group despatched by the Halle'Iesu Craftworld, in its mission to prevent the Tyrannic advance in the Sondaica system. He is a veteran of the First Tyrannic War, and the Second Tyrannic War. He, as a Warlock, was present when Farseer Zhanathiel counselled Lord Admiral Rath before the Battle of Circe. He fought at Iyanden, when Hive Fleet Kraken broke the back of the largest of the Eldar Craftworlds. He, as a new Farseer, led Halle'Iesu's forces against the Devourer on Ichar IV, lending his support to the countless Mon'Keigh forces there.

He fought alongside the Deathbringers and Dark Templars Chapters when their vicious raids drove the Hive Fleet back from Ichar a second time.

And now, as Halle'Iesu's expert on most forms of combat against the Devourer, he was chosen to prevent the loss of the Sondaica system.

He commands from the otIarstill (Dark Sword), a heavily modified Shadow-class ship, with modifications including daetrin cloak, pulsar lances in the prow, and, most importantly, a warp portal, which it is intended to deploy in space, to allow reinforcing ships from the Halle'Iesu fleet to arrive.

Tareleyan is accompanied by his warlock apprentices, Korian and Liliara, a detachment of warp spiders, and two squads of Dark Reapers. Several bonesingers accompany the force, to provide assistance on the surface.

The otIarstill posesses a handful of space superiority fighters, vampires and phoenixes, but nothing compared to the pirate fleet that has been contracted to provide the support to Tareleyan in theatre. Halle Iesu itself is regrouping after the second Ichar IV campaign. The detachment is, however, fully equipped with falcons, vypers and fireprisms. Heavier equipment may be forthcoming later, via the warp portal, if its existence can be kept concealed from the Hive Fleet.

The Gali'randi Exploration Fleet consists of four ships.

Kai'u Theia't-i is the de-facto leader. The Theia't-i is a command vessel, employing no fewer than six Operators (almost all of them An'dari, with one Ves'dari as well). While Kai'u is the eldest of the four, she has never been on a mission outside Tan'ithia and its surrounding galaxies before, and therefore relies on the others for assistance.

I'urji Ivrik is the local arsenal. The Ivrik is the only pure warship in the First Star Empire, with all other warships being in reality augmented command ships, sensor ships, transports, etc. And I'urji is fairly good; she served to combat and put down several rebellions in her early days several thousand years ago. I'urji carries four Operators, as well as almost all of the weapons AIs; if the ships are downed upon Sondaica's surface, which plot may require them to do, these will assume avatars of some variety and perform most of the fighting.

The two Sive'ins, Jan'ith and Dougazne, are "sisters" of some variety. (All Kun'dari are thought of as female because they are all capable of reproduction, although in reality asexual would be more accurate.) As sensors vessels, they bear only two Operators apiece; they are capable of detecting things many light-years away and intercepting the most sensitive communications, but for this reason are specialised and sensitive to weapons fire.

The group has served together before, and they have a sophisticated mind-link to each other already emplaced. For the moment, they are sitting on the outside of the Sondaica system as observers, attempting to make contact with the planet itself but failing due to the interference of the Tyranid life-signs.

(This is assuming I'm cleared for joining, which doesn't seem to be the case despite my post here... I don't bite, I promise. ;))
