OOC: This thread is ideal for anything from border disputes, pirates and skirmishes to nasty alien races taking over my ships and dictatorial cyborgs trying to harvest the crew. Join right in.

IC:
The three Asfaltum mining-vessels (http://www.3dactionplanet.com/lancer/images/freelancer/screenshots/august1102-6.jpg) slowly made their way through space. In the lead vessel the skipper nervously walked back and forth. Not only were they without an escort, but their hulls were half-full with diamonds, making them the perfect target for pirates. Not that pirates had been spotted in the area recently, but one could never be quite sure. The skippers only reason for being so far out, was the slipstream burst-transmitter he had recently aquired. One quick message, and a small squadron would come charging. He looked at the screen. "Bring us out of warp here." he said, pointing. The navigation-officer shook his head slowly. "That would bring us slightly into foreign territory." he remarked, looking at a side-screen containing the latest known data about the area. "The whole area is a borderpoint where several territories meet... There's only a small strip of international territory..."-"Well then, exit warp in international space, just outside those borders. I want to have a closer look at that asteroid formation... It seems to be originating from some old supernova..."

The three ships silently exited warp and started scanning the surrounding. Almost immediately, the ships computer singled out a lone asteroid, the size of several dreadnoughts, and magnified it on the main screen. "Well I be..." the skipper started. "The whole rock is Mithril!" another crew-member exclaimed. "Only one problem." the navigation-officer interrupted. "It's heading towards foreign territory... going to cross the border in 75 minutes." -"Well, what are we waiting for! Tell the others! I want all available explosives! We gotta stop that rock while it's in international space!" the Captain cried out, making a dash for the door.

30 minutes later everything was ready. The comms-officer glanced up at the Captain. "Let's hope nobody detects those explosions... otherwise we might have to use that burst-transmitter of your..." he remarked dryly. The Captain pushed a button on his console, setting off several explosions and seismic charges in a highly elaborate pattern, effectively bringing the asteroid to a halt. The crew cheered. Soon, preparations were being made aboard the 3 ships, in order to commence mining procedures.

Here I come :)

IC:

Imperial Observation Outpost

"Sir, 3 explosions have been picked up by our long range sesmic radars. It happens to be in international territory."

"Understood. But why would anyone just blast a piece of asteroid?"

"Perhaps it contains something worth a fortune?"

"Perhaps. Dispatch one of those Frigates to investigate and check."

"Yessir!"

---Several hours later---

The sleek form of a Fallen Class Frigate slid appeared as it emerged from warp speed and proceeded towards the 3 unknown ships which detonated 3 explosions. Their mission was simple, find out what the reason was for the explosions.

They hailed the ships:

"This is Captain Berkentine of the MIN Undispute. State your business."

The Zues fleet of the Taron Agreement had detected the explosions as they patrolled near the Jindra system.

Contact with Command confirmed an interest in determining what had happened so a Scout ship was dispatched from the fleet to investigate. The rest of the fleet remain ready to jump in if needed.

A bright white, circular shaped portal opens 30km from the asteroid. Sensors will indicate that particles of positively charged energy flowing from it.

Suddenly a 100 meter oval shaped object bursts from the portal.

Onboard

"Tigris, what do we have here," inquired Gal Wren.

"Nothing much sir, just a few asteroids, and one is composed of Mitril sir, it is actually stationary."

"Odd"

"FRAG," exclaimed Tigris

"Sir," interrupted the Nurel monitoring sensors, "She failed to inform you that she also sensed three vessels."

"No, I didn't, I just noticed them, and would have reported them, if you had a bit more patience."

"Hail them," ordered the Gal.

Unidentified vessels, this is Gal Wren, of the TGF Tigris. What are you intentions in the area? You have entered the reclaimed territories of the Taron Agreement and we detected some explosions. Do you require assistance?

The Captain stared at the screen. Two ships with obviously different nationalities had just entered the region. They both wanted an explanation of what was going on... strangely. Firstly, the Asfaltum mining vessels were in International space, secondly, it was quite obvious what they were doing... mining. The Captain sighed. "Great! Prepare to respond..."-"Aye sir!", the comms-officer said, his hands swiftly darting back and forth above the consoles.

Moments later, a response was sent to each ship:

"This is Captain Berkentine of the MIN Undispute. State your business."
Greetings! I am captain Forester, and these three ships belong to the Asfaltum Mining Corporation. We are at the moment mining an asteroid, and intend to continue doing so until it has been fully exploited. Any further questions?

Greetings! This is Captain Forester, commander of these three Asfaltum mining-vessels. We are greatfull for your concern but do not require any assistance. We would also like to point out, that while we may be close to your border, we are in fact not inside your territory. In fact, at the moment we are in International Space. The Explosions that you detected are for mining-procedures, and are not hostile in any way.

The Captain shrugged. If this was going to get crowded, he might as well call for back-up. But not quite yet, as no hostile actions had been taken...

“Sir, other ships have arrived of an unknown configuration. They are not Colonial or Coredian,” informed Tigris.

“It sounds like trouble. Tigris, inform Uranus, and do it telepathically, I don’t want someone picking up a transmission and suspecting we are requesting reinforcements. I hope to resolve this peacefully.”

“As you wish, commander.”

“They are hailing everyone.”

This is Captain Berkentine of the MIN Undispute. State your business.

“Respond with a message explaining our presence and requesting that they withdraw. Then continue to monitor all channels to that ship.”

Undispute, this is the TGF Tigris, you have entered the reclaimed territories of the Taron Agreement. Please withdraw.

“We are being hailed by the three alien vessels.” informed the Comm Officer.

“Let’s hear it.”

“Hmm, Its good they need no help. But they claim this is international territory.”

“Sir, we have been in slumber for over one billion years, and most of the locals don’t know we exist, much less that we have reclaimed many of our original territories,” added Tek Gibel.

“Good, point,” responded the Gal.

“Open, the channel.”

Captain Forester, we apologize but we have not heard of the Asfaltum and are happy to hear that you are safe and do not require assistance. We also forgive your ignorance, as our people have been indisposed until recently. As such, we are reclaiming portions of space that we previously. We humbly request that you cease all mining efforts within our reclaimed territories.

“Sir, I have a response from Uranus, they are on standby, and can be here immediately upon request.”

“Good, go ahead and deploy you defensive mucus just in case something unexpected should occur.”

OOC: My vessel is organic so any scans are going to show strong life signs, but will not tell you much more, as whether there are 1 or 1000 people on onboard would be masked by the life signs of the ship itself.

"What!" Forester blurted out. "They think they can get their hands on a valuable Mithril asteroid by just bluffing like that. That's the oldest trick in the book..." - "Well," the navigation-officer shrugged uneasily, "their ship seems to be organic, so Mithril doesn't seem to be valuble for them, except for export purposes, and a bluff would probably come with a more authoritarian tone..." The Captain thought for a while. "Ok, put the burst-transmitter on stand-by, and hail them... what about the other vessel?" "Seems to be inactive sir, but we detected a message from the Tarons that has been sent to them, they made no effort to encrypt it..."
Undispute, this is the TGF Tigris, you have entered the reclaimed territories of the Taron Agreement. Please withdraw.

"Hmm, patch me through..." - "Aye,sir."

Well, it seems we have a slight situation here, considering that I dont intend to leave until having mined that darned asteroid. Maybe if you would show us proof of your territorial claim then things might be easier, yes?

The Captain was starting to get slightly annoyed. "So much for a calm voyage..."

"Yessir."

"Hmm, mining in international space. Never heard of before. Since this area might be valuable to us in the future, contact command and request for reinforcements and a colonizlizing ship."

"Yes sir!"

In response :

Greetings. This is Captain Berkentine. We are officially claiming this place to be Imperial Mining territory. As of now, Imperial colony ships and warships are currently en-route to establish Imperial presence here. As we have had friendly relations before, you are permitted to continue your mining. Questions?

Later, the ensign reported.

"Sir, another incomming transmission."

"Play it!"

Undispute, this is the TGF Tigris, you have entered the reclaimed territories of the Taron Agreement. Please withdraw.

"Bah, they're in international territory which is about to become Imperial space. Respond."

Several minutes later, 2 Imperial MkIV Star Destroyers and 4 VictoryIII Star Destroyers along with an accompanying assortment of smaller vessels including cruisers, destroyers, frigates and gunships emerged out of hyperspace centering a Imperial Colonialization Ship. Within the massive colony ship contained prefabricated bases, a small starbase and several mining and agriculture tools.

The Imperial warships moved into position such as to protect the colony ship which started deploying the Starbase...

Well, it seems we have a slight situation here, considering that I dont intend to leave until having mined that darned asteroid. Maybe if you would show us proof of your territorial claim then things might be easier, yes?

“Tigris, transmit our territorial star map from before the slumber. Don’t waste our time encrypting it, the Undispute will no doubt be interested as well.”

“Done.”

Captain Forrester, we are transmitting a copy of our star maps containing our original territories. We now claim only the areas within 50 lightyears of the Jindra, Taron, and Ladenea systems, and all territories between.

(OOC: At initial glance this star map will appear to be utterly incorrect, however, your computer should easily be able to discern that it is approximately 1.4 billion years old based on star movement. It contains some 4000 systems, many of which are well within your territories and that of your neighbors. The three systems mentioned would appear much brighter that the others, and this particular location would easily be within the 50-lightyear claim.)

“Sir, we are detected other valuable materials in several of the other asteroids.”

“Then launch nanite probes at those asteroids and stop them as well, maybe we can work something out with the Asfaltum. Open another channel and encrypt it.”

Twenty-four meter long needles are fired from the Tigris, and impact 4 asteroids with no explosion, all stop moving almost within 5 minutes.

Captain Forester, this is Gal Wren, I would like to discuss a diplomatic exchange of information. Perhaps we could even negotiate a trade deal where you could keep the mithril and we could mine these other asteroids, we will provide you with additional protection in this area.

“Gal, the other vessel is requesting reinforcement.”

“Inform, Uranus, and request Oceanus and Zues, we don’t know what these people plan.”

“Telepathic, I assume.”

“Is there any other way?”

Seconds later, three-dozen white portals of varying sizes appear triangulating the asteroid field and three fleets of Taron organic vessels appear from those portals.

“The other fleet is hailing sir.”

Tigris, this is the MIN Undispute. You are officially in international space, which is to become Imperial space shortly. Please withdraw immediately and state your intentions! Out.

“Well, at least we have backup now.”

Undispute, our intentions are simply that of protecting our territory. Please stand down. You can see from the star maps we transmitted this is well within the territory we claim.

On Caprica President Adar sits down with Dr. Stephens.

"Would you like some tea, or brandy Doctor?" The president offered the old diplomat.

"No thank you Mr. President." Dr. Stephens stated.

"I have reviewed your treaty between the Coredian's and the Taron, and I must say that I am quite impressed by your diplomatic skills. You traded one peice of technology that was not classified and have gotten a horde of new technologies."

Dr. Stephens replied, "Thank you Mr. President, but I did not do the mission for the gain of technologies, I did it to aid our culture in understanding, and gain allies."

President Adar, "It would seem that you have done both. For this I will give you the Golden Star, the highest medal given to any civilian fromthe Quorun of Twelve."

Dr. Stephens replied "Thank you Mr. President."

President Adar continued, "Dr. Stephens I hear that you want to reoutfit the Armistice Station for trade with the Taron, and build a new station in Neutral territory for trade with the Coredians."

Dr. Stephens replied, "Yes Mr President, the Taron feel the aging armistice staion would be an ideal spot for them to meet, and at this area of space the Coredians have decided would be an ideal trading outpost for thier nation. Also Mr. President, by reoutfitting the armistice station the cylons will not get near our space again, without having to deal with multiple civilizations."

The President smiled. This was a dream come true for any president. The gain of massive technologies, guarenteed protection from the cylons, and above that their scientist were working hard on the new technologies to build a new class of battlestar, and with the technology gained, and slightly modified, the Colonies would be soon considered a great civilization."

"Very well Dr. Stephens, the Quorum will be certain to ratify this agreement." President Adar concluded.

He then pressed a button on his desk.

"Please inform the Ministry of Defense that I want three battlestars to jump to these coordinates immediatly to scout and survey the area for the new space station."

One hour later

The Battlestars Picis, Artemidies, and Triton jump into the area. Three quick flashes of light appear in the backdrop of space.

Then out of no where the Draidus alarms went off.

If you claim to have 3 fleets then each fleet would have 6 ships and if they were to all come you'll leave your homesystem undefended. The odds that you will find it out of no where given how big the galaxy is, is very small. It would take many years to find his homeworld, something I doubt the Empire would waste it's time to find. Also if you are playing the Galactic Empire, at least according to Episodes I-III the empire would try to ally with him, find his planet offer him protection, then slowly subvert his planet to the empire's control. THe Empire only used brute force to keep systems under their control. Instead the empire would just create a situation where he would have to run to you for help. Besides it is far better to have "willing subjects" than to have people oppressed who will help out the rebellion. THe darkside may be evil and destructive, but it is not stupid, it is patient.

Wren was listening to the message, when he was overwhelmed by the power of Zues’ thoughts.

Gal, This is Dak Jorl Zues. I have taking over this expedition. Return to formation immediately.

{I]As ordered, sir

Wren hated taking orders from a Xenite, but then, none were quite as old, or as powerful as Zues. Especially, when you considered their psychic strength.

He turned and sat in his chair, “Tigris, I assume you received the order too.”

“Of course.”

“Then, proceed.”

Immediately a white portal, spewing positively charged energy appears off the nose of the TGF Tigris, and another one appears in line with one of the three Agreement fleets. The Tigris passes through the portal and is instantly in formation with the other eleven ships of the fleet.

Onboard Zues

The personnel of Zues were in lockdown, and he had ordered the Tigris back into formation. After the ship returned he considered the message from the Captain Forester of the Asfaltum mining vessel.

He replied:

Captain Forester, let me introduce myself, I am Zues of the Taron Agreement, I have relieved Tigris and her crew of this engagement. I understand your misgivings of the information, and accept your assertion about the territory not being marked. We did not consider it necessary and will proceed to mark the rest of our claims accordingly. We seek to forge a peaceful relationship with your people and feel that this find could be mutually beneficial.

Once he completed the communication he sent orders to the Scout Lakorus, and several others to begin deploying marker buoys 50 km outside of claimed territories.

Taron Vessel this is the Battlestar Triton, we have been threatened and hostilities seem inevitable. You are clear for emergency jump into our port flight pod.

He considered the advantages of having an ally at such a young stage in the rebirth of the Agreement. Maybe they could solidify the alliance with the Colonials and convince them to join.

He responded on an encoded channel:

Battlestar Triton, this is Zues, of the Taron Agreement. I have am the commander of these Taron fleets. I agree that hostilities are inevitable, and look forward to fighting by your side, should the need arise. I have placed my personnel in lockdown, and am taking all necessary precautions. The Tigris has been relieved of this duty and has moved into formation for combat. If the empire ships plan to board you we will help you resist.

He surveyed the Imperial Fleet laid out before him. This would not be good if he could not contain the situation.

His brothers were easily comparable to the Imperial ships, and he was certain that if a fight broke out many of them would be lost. He telepathically issued orders for all defenses to be raised and to prep the raptors and pterrors among all three fleets.

The three fleets held their positions triangulating the asteroid field.

He hailed the Imperial ships.

Captain Berkentine, I am Zues of the Taron Agreement. I am interested in establishing a peaceful resolution to this situation. Please stand down and end hostile actions toward the Colonial Vessels.

A Dominion Recon Fleet was near the area-it wasn't anywhere close to being out of jurisdiction range for the scouting three vessels. However, the vessels weren't your standard of a Recon Fleet-instead of a frigate and two corvettes, this was made of a Legacy-class Battleship, a Valiant Carrier, and a Nexu Battlecruiser. The fleet had been dispatched to scout out hostile territory-in the domain of the PLANTs and Spit Break-and hence, had to have been bulked up. This system had a high gravity field, causing the hyperspace-moving fleet to pull out into supspace for the time being as they tried to pass through.

The fleet's commander was Vice Admiral Tenlith Danfilt. He was a veteran of war, having served in a couple, and command of a Legacy battleship was a prodigious command. However, simply scouting out hostile territory wasn't a great assignment, even if it was with a nice compliment of ships- a carrier and battlecruiser were nothing to mess around with, particularly with the carrier holding two Otari corvettes aboard it.

Danfilt was looking for excitement when he pulled into the blocking system, and quickly picked up emissions on long-distance active sensors.

"Report," he inquired of his sensors officer.
"Several contacts, most unknown, on long-distance," replied the bridge sensor officer.
"Hmm," muttered Danfilt. "Full impulse, pull us in closer. Comms, get an open transmission going."
"Copy Cap'n. It's all yours."

Danfilt stood in front of the holoprojector to begin recording.

"This is Vice Admiral Tenlith Danfilt of the Amazonian Dominion battleship Tenacious Volley. We've picked up multiple contacts on sensors-what is the situation?"

A small, cloaked corvette monitored all the activity in the system. The amount of ships, debris, comm. traffic, and mineral resources were hiding them well, no one would be able to see them unless they bumped into them. About half a dozen races laid claim to this space, and although the system contained rich veins of mithril and adamantium, the scouts were told that another system that had less resistance was currently using the resources of the nearest Draconic fleet to secure the system, and they were told to wait.

LT. Tapps, looked at the draidus screen.

"Admiral new draidus contacts, bearing 102 mark 54." Lt. Tapps said

"Admiral Nagata lowers his head in careful comptemplation. Are they similiar to the Empire's ships?" Admiral Nagata responded.

Negitive sir, Lt. Tapps replied, they are of unknown ship type.

Admiral Nagata knew that the three battlestars were outnumbered, if combat ensured, then it will take some "out of the box" strategy in order for this Battlegroup to survive. Luckily this is one area that the Colonial Fleet was an expert in.

" Sir the Taron have just gained reinforcements, a total of 11 taron ships are now in the area." Lt Tapps replied.

Finally some good news, Admiral Nagata said. What are our options and status?

"FTL is spun up across the fleet, and all ships are at condition one awaiting your orders sir," Lt. Tapps stated.

Prepare tactical jump sequence Omega if anyone fires, I want to confuse the enemy if they decide to attack.

"Aye sir."

Admiral Nagata looks at her XO, "Colonel Gaskins, prepare the ship for a bording party."

"Yes sir" Colonel Gaskins replied.

Incoming transmission from the new contacts. Lt. Tapps responded.

Put it on speakers, Admiral Nagata ordered:

"This is Vice Admiral Tenlith Danfilt of the Amazonian Dominion battleship Tenacious Volley. We've picked up multiple contacts on sensors-what is the situation?"

Admiral Nagata, "Put me through to the "Dominion Fleet"

This is Admiral Nagata of the Colonial Fleet of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal. Ships claiming to be from the Empire have hyperspaced into this area and are claiming it for their own. They have threatened our Battlegroup as well as those of our allies. What are your intentions in this area? We do not wish hostilities.

End Transmission

Admiral Nagata, "Colonel, what do you think of the current situation?"

Colonel Gaskins responds, "Maybe we can gain a few more allies out of this, or maybe we are about to start a few wars. Either way I will need a drink."

Admiral Nagata laughs.

Transmission sent to the Taron Vessel:

Admiral Nagata stares at the draidus screen. With so many unknowns, it was impossible to tell how this battle would ensue. Would some of the aliens fight for us, would they fight against us. One thing was for certain the ships claiming to be Imperial were threating the Colonial Fleet and that could not be stood for.

Admiral Nagata, "How many of the Imperial ships are out here? "

Lt. Tapps, "At least six and a colony ship."

Admiral Nagata, "A colony ship, then this is not their space they wish to claim it for their own." "Go to Condition one, and lauch all sqaudrons of the alert vipers. Also I am ordering a case orange mission. Prepare the unmanned Raptors."

Lt. Tapps, " Aye Sir"

Within a few seconds 240 Mark VII Vipers launched from the tubes.

Admiral Nagata, "Fire up our jump drives, be prepared to jump at a moment's notice. Prepare the unmanned Raptors to leave the flightpod immediatly if battle ensues, and set the raptor's jump coordinates for one for their biggest ships, and set the onboard tillium nuke on board (100 Kiloton) to jump in the center of their ships, and set the delay on the nukes for .5 seconds after jump is initated. Be sure to have one of the raptors set for the Colony ship. Do not launch them until ordered."

Send this transmission to the Imperial ships.

Onboard Tigris

He replied:

Once he completed the communication he sent orders to the Scout Lakorus, and several others to begin deploying marker buoys 50 km outside of claimed territories.

He considered the advantages of having an ally at such a young stage in the rebirth of the Agreement. Maybe they could solidify the alliance with the Colonials and convince them to join.

He responded on an encoded channel:

He surveyed the Imperial Fleet laid out before him. This would not be good if he could not contain the situation.

His brothers were easily comparable to the Imperial ships, and he was certain that if a fight broke out many of them would be lost. He telepathically issued orders for all defenses to be raised and to prep the raptors and pterrors among all three fleets.

The three fleets held their positions triangulating the asteroid field.

He hailed the Imperial ships.

IC:

"Sir, enemy ships raising shields and powering weapons!"

"Raise shields to 100% and activate ablative armor. All weapons to cold start now!"

"Aye aye captain!"

Immediately the ship's ablative armoring was activated as an invisible shield began shimmering as it increased power from 50% (standby) to 100% (combat).

All weapon systems were powered up should hostilities continue.

Return transmission:

Tigris we have no wish for combat. We have called off boarding of the Colonial ships provided they withdraw. Should you choose to withdraw and allow peaceful Imperial takeover of this area, all hostilities would cease immediately. Should you refuse to and do anything stupid, an Imperial armada would be down on your necks. Out.

I understand your misgivings of the information, and accept your assertion about the territory not being marked. We did not consider it necessary and will proceed to mark the rest of our claims accordingly. We seek to forge a peaceful relationship with your people and feel that this find could be mutually beneficial.

Response:We have recieved orders to withdraw from this territory, due to a possible imminent invasion taking place against our territory. We would like to continue diplomatic discourses, and would recommend you to contact or homeplanet. "Sir, enemy ships raising shields and powering weapons!"

OOC: I said nothing about powering weapons just deploying defensive measures, which means, you would only detect the appearance of shields around only the largest one. Now, I don’t know if you sensors could tell you this, but if they can, you would detect that all of my ships are covered what would appear to as a sticky goo. Also, since my ships are organic even if I did activate weapons you might notice an energy buildup, but nothing more, you would have no way of knowing for sure whether they were weapons or not.

Zues senses the increases in the energy fields around the Imperial Fleet as he receives the message.

“There actions betray there words.”

He issues a psychic message to all ships. Hold positions and keep defenses deployed. All personnel are ordered to lockdown, and the Xenites have command. Take no action until ordered.

He responds:

Asfaltum mining vessels, we understand your need. We will contact your homeworld to continue diplomacy.
He opened an encrypted channel to the Colonial Fleet:
Battlestar Triton, we will be withdrawing from this area and seeking diplomacy with the Asfaltum externally, you are welcome to return with to the Ladea system if you would like. Also, High Command has informed us that Government World, Tayrus, is waking and an embassy may now be placed. Send a ship to the Ladea system for us to escort to Government world when you are ready.

“Jorl,” came a response from Zues’ second in command, “We have an idea to handle this situation.”

Minutes later another message is sent to the Imperial fleet.

We have been ordered to retreat and concede this area to your Galactic Empire. We are powering up our Astral Engines and will be leaving once the are fully charged.

Immediately several tiny portals open, positively charged energy begins spewing forth as the portals slowly open behind the Taron vessels.

OOC: Bummer. I was hoping MB would post something regarding the transmission as I left. Oh, well. I guess, I will go ahead and continue.

A few seconds after Zues leaves, the four asteroids that had been stopped by nanite probes begin to move again. Seconds later, one side of the asteroids appears to move and shimmer, almost as if they is covered with ants. Suddenly, shields surround all four asteroids separately.

One would have to wonder where the power could be coming from.

Within a minute all four asteroids look as though they are completely covered with ants, thousands, or millions of them no one could know. Another minute and four dozen 1m long needles are fired at the surrounding asteroids.

Slowly the original four asteroids begin to decrease in size as the "ants" consume the raw materials.

"Put us on wide-stream," replied Danfilt.
"Copy Cap'n. Transmitter's all yours."

The Vice Admiral once again stepped in front of the transmitter relay. Only one ship had responded-and it had subsequently left.

"Since we recieved no answer last time, we have to believe our first message didn't punch through," he stated over a transmission that shot across the stars via the battleship's comm dish. "This is an Amazonian Dominion Recon Fleet, albiet a bit buffed. We had a run-in through hostile territory, and were forced to divert course through this area. We're simply passing through-it's our only conduit, besides turning back and going around, which would not be preferable. "No problem Cap'n."

A weak signal coming from the asteroid field that sounds like dead air. The signal lasts for 30 seconds then ends.

OOC: Ok, but let's see your virus handle a bit more than standard computers.

IC:

"Sir...strange thing comin' from the comps."
"What's that?" the Vice Admiral inquired.
"Malfunction of sorts," replied the bridge Internal Systems officer. "Across the board..."
"Hold on. I'll bring up Viki."

He held out a portable device. From the machine, a small figure-blue colored, comprised of millions of three-dimensional pixels, appeared.

"What's up?" inquired the figure.
"Viki, I need you to access the mainframe," replied the Vice Admiral. "We've got an issue with the comps."
"Standard comps, or all?"
"Simply the navigational, comms, and sensors, it appeared, when they attempted to decipher a foreign message."
"I'll be on it in a flash."

The figure collapsed into the small device as Danfilt stuck it in a slot next to one of the bridge computer terminals. Viki was a standard AI-one of multiple aboard the ship dealing with various problems. She just happened to be the bridge's personal one. She'd be able to hunt down the virus from inside the corrupted terminal-her own programming prevented the access of interference from viruses and the likes of disturbance programs unless they actually interfered with the portable device itself. This could only be done through a connection with the device's rear side-whcih was rarely ever plugged into anything, simply for charging abilities. Even AIs couldn't last forever. However, that slot was empty right now.

OOC: Apparently, no one is going to stop this. In that case, I will continue.

With no resistance the 4 dozen meter long needles hit the surrounding asteroids. The mithril asteriod is hit with 3 of them, and within a couple of seconds it is surround with an energy field identical to that which surrounds the others. With in a minute the entire surface of the asteroid is covered with what appears to be ants.

The original 4 asteroids continue to diminish in size, and more needles are launched at even more of the asteroids. When these four asteroids are consumed, the blob of "ants" move to four nearby asteroids and encompass them.

The mithril asteroid begins to decrease in size as the metal is used to produce more "ants."

By now 21 of the approximately 100 asteroids are covered.

02-03-2007, 20:34
(((OOC: Since there is still no resistance and several people have logged on since this started I will end it here. I would think the Imperial Forces would want to stop this, especially, since this asteroid field was so "important" for them to claim, but who am I to make such a determination.)))

Moments later, a dozen 1m long needles were launched from each of the 21 asteroids and impacted more of their neighbors. Then the bulk of those asteroids appear to split and consume more.

It takes ten minutes for the entire astroid field to be consumed by these things. When the last asteroid is gone the "ants" break up into thousands of what can only be described as needles no larger than a meter in length. They all jump to hyperspace together as one.

And so it ends. No one was able to claim the asteroid field, and now a hungry, all consuming enemy has risen, and no effort was made to stop it.
