Zuluistan is a rather medium size nation that has a large urban to a rural base with nearly 88% of the people in Zuluistan living in rural areas compared to 12% living in the three urban centers of Zuluistan. The three urban centers of Zuluistan are Xulu the capital, Miarai a small city and Elanu. In the nation of Zuluistan not only is there is a divide between an urban center and the rural centers of Zuluistan but there are also nine different ethnic groups that are closely related or far apart from the main ethnic group, the Zulus.

The ethnic groups of Zulistan are:

Zulu
Bantu
Nguni
Basotho
Xhosa
Swazi
Matabele
Khoisan
English
Eng-Zulu

With a population of six million people within its border and so many divisions on different levels it was not a surprise to see that the country of Zuluistan was run by a Dictator who knows best for his people, Antohi Butuchiz.

-------------

Sumarciz Region, Northern Zuluistan:

Several young men in tathered t-shirts and ripped pants guarded their cattle flock with semi-automatic weapons slung around their necks as they kept up patrol around their cattle in one of the poorest and driest regions of Zuluistan where cattle was the life blood of individual communities. Being Matabele, they were extremely distinct from the Zulu people that made up the majority of Zuluistan people and the government of Zuluistan did not want to deal with non-closely related ethnic minorities as much as possible, so the threat of attack from other ethnic groups, and no government military or monetary assistance would be provided in most cases.

Thusly as the sun shone brightly, a crack (gunshot) was heard and then there was a lot of yelling and screaming as about 24 armed Zulu men on camel back opened fire on the small patrol of Matabele herders. Two Matabele young men collapsed wounded from the bullets they received and a small crackle of gunfire was fired at the attackers which resulted in one of them falling to the defenses of the Matabele defenders. Several bullets from a machine gun ripped into the side of one of the cow and it collapsed in a pool of blood along with three other cattle that had been shot in the crossfire.

Nearby, about ten Matabele gunmen from the local village fired at the Zulu raiders who returned fire with this second group of oncoming Matabele gunmen. Quickly though the raiders left the scene of the battle. In a quick twenty minute gun battle there was five of the 14 Matabele cattle dead along with 4 Matabele defenders and gunmen along with seven Matabele gunmen wounded, with 2 Zulu raiders dead and several wounded.

Zuluistan National News:

[I]Today in Northern Zuluistan there was a clash between two ethnic groups that were fighting over limited food resources, and this clash resulted in the estimated deaths of six people ad the wounding of nearly a dozen others. The national government under General Antohi Butuchiz has place the region under martial-law.

Sumarciz Region, Northern Zuluistan:

A green camoflague military jeep stood parked outside the chief's hut in the middle of a small Matabele village in Sumarciz region. There was an army colonel and four young army privates who had been sent out to write up a report on the incidential clashes that had left 7 people dead three days before and had highlighted the fact that for most people, resource owning and ethnic rivalry was still strong.

In Zulu;

"So what were these nomadic herders dressed as when they attacking your young men outside of this village?"

"They were Zulu raiders," one of the chiefs said, "We ask you for protection since we killed three of their raiders they may come and attack more of our villages."

Colonel; "We are taking a look at the incident that occured several days ago and we are unsure which way blame should be led. However, we are having more army patrols within this region to guard against any more clashes between the Matabele people and possibly other ethnic groups."

Second chief; "So you will protect us against the Zulu?"

Colonel; "We will protect every peace loving Zuluistani citizen, no matter if they are apart of different ethnic groups or apart of the Matabele community. Likewise, we will agressively take action against community members that declare violence is the only to achieve their objectives. Than you for your comments!"

Sumarciz Region, Northern Zuluistan:

Six hours after the colonel and several of his troops visited the small Matabele village in central Sumarciz region about a good eight Matabele gunmen, mostly no more than 25, for a young Zulu chieftain in the region that the Matabele youths had learned from some captured, wounded Zulu raiders had mastermind the attack on the small Matabele village.

These eight men were laying in the tall grass on the main highway leading north out of Zuluistan just five hundred meters away from the largest Sumarciz community, Mumbio, a small town of 2,000 people, mostly Zulu or English in ethnic background.

Then a large vehicle carrying the young Zulu chieftain, Amir Buiao (23), turned onto the highway leaving north. It was the lead car in a two car convoy with four guards and a driver included. The eight young Matabele gunmen stood up from the highway edge and opened fire with machine guns blasting the front windowshield of Buiao car leaving the driver badly wounded and Amir with a wound to the shoulder. Guards got out of the second car and returned fire with the eight gunmen, resulting in the deaths of two of the Matabele gunmen and the wounding of several other gunmen.

Eventually Zuluistan police officers arrived and arrested the surviving Matabele gunmen and detained the guards in the shootout for questioning and Amir Buiao and other wounded individuals were taken to a local hospital for examination. The shoot out left 3 Matabele gunmen and one civilian dead and wounded 9 people.

In five days of ethnic clashes 11 people have been killed and 24 people wounded.

OOC: Mind if I join? It looks like it has good potential to be a Black Hawk Down-ish kind of RP, if I get one of my copters purposely shot down to the ground. If you don't want me to join that's fine.

IC:

Minister of Defense Gen. Raymond Logan was reading the Oslean Sun when he saw a little article stuck in the back of the newspaper.

Ethnic Tensions In Zuluistan

Battles over limited food supplies in Zuluistan between Matabele and...

The General muttered to himself. "Hmm... Looks like a little problem. Food supplies or racial tensions... hmm, I can't tell." He took a sip of his coffee and called the Prime Minister.

--

"Prime Minister! Read the 9th page of today's Oslean Sun, the one with Zuluistan in its title."

"Hmm... I guess they could use some aid. We have lots of extra food don't we?"

"Yes sir, but they've got friggin' guns, aid won't solve everything. Maybe we should deploy a contingent of the Oslean Rangers to solve the situation. Maybe some tanks too. You know, to help out the government there. Says here he's a dictator... but not one of those crazy ones, the ones that wave nukes in your face. This one looks like he's actually a good leader..."

"How much will this cost?"

"Sir, we have an enormous defense budget and it's spent on ships sitting in our docks... shouldn't we help the world?"

"I guess. I will contact to Zuluistan's leader, and see if they would like us to intervene. Thank you for bringing this up, General. You're a good man."
