Antonio walked down the crowded city streets. On his way to the corner bakery, Adamo’s, he picked up a copy of The Roma Gazette and World News Italia from the small News Stand for 4 Imperial Credits. The headlines ranged from things like “Imperial Senate opts for GASN Membership” to “GUSN Founded” and “Further Eurasian Unrest”. Politics, he thought, shaking his head. He got in line at the bakery, picked up his doughnut, plopped into his favorite seat, and flipped to an article on the new F-41s from Aequatio. “Damn, this owns the old F-15s,” he mumbled with a mouth full of food. After five minutes of reading in the usual small, pleasant spot, he happily walked to his job at the community hospital (as cars were hard to come by in the tight island of Cyprus). Everything was fine, not a thing was wrong in the world. He heard someone call his name behind him, turned around, and waved. It was his mate’s son. He smiled. Too bad he hadn’t seen the charges of C-4 hidden under bakery tables, which had just went off...

In an instant, the blasts carried him twenty feet across the cul-de-sac, and he landed face-first on the street. Another 300 feet down, another blast went off. And another. And another. Soon, the entire city had plunged into chaos within the hour, as thousands of explosives roared off. The sky burned red with blood and fire as people screamed and havoc overtook the entire island…

Cyprus Military Base, 0815 Hours

The Cyprus base had always been very small. The island was surrounded by Italian territory, why fret about its security? The base usually was partying or relaxing- or both. The same was happening today. Two guards (practically the only guards) stood outside the base. They happened to be Britt’s.

“Oi, look at those new tanks!”

“Oi, go rip that soviet insignia off! We shu’ ov’ never bought ‘em from the damn soviet storefront. Go rip it off.”

“Right mate.”

The guard went and attempted ripping off the paint.

“We’ll just paint over it then.”

Over the hill near the base, three snipers stood ready. They aimed their SVDs right at the soldier’s heads, and fired. They fell down instantly. The three hundred men behind them stormed the base, as 3 high jacked 747s flew into the main housing sections. The soldiers were overrun, they were all dead within ten minutes. Nuclear Codes, however, were within the base. Cyprus held an arsenal of 30 nuclear weapons, and the insurgents were going to find them.

“Horrid. Owfull. Eveel. I want the military at the reyadee, these communists will not prevail.”

The Prime Minister, who’d heard of the incident several minutes ago, was in a panic. As the rest of the Empire slowly found out and rose in panic. A full scale national no-fly zone was in effect, the terrorists were seizing control of the island.

“I want those nuclear codes updated! NOW! They will not fire!”

“We are mobilizing forces. These damn Marxists got their arms from no other than the damn Russians. Damn mafia. The codes will soon be outdated, but until then-"

“Till' then my ass. Mobilize forces. Alert the international community. How powerful are these insurgents?”

“They are members of the Red Worker’s party, or so I suspect. They have declared independence from our ‘Oppressive Empire’ and are forming the ‘Cypriot Worker’s Republic’. ”

IC: 3 Typhoon Class Cargo Submarines arrived in the port of Larnaca. They surfaced once they arrived in the harbor and sent out a radio messege alerting the dockyards that they have brought weapons for them. In their cargo holds were as many AT-7s and Sa-18s that could fit. Also in the submarines were several dozen Qassam rocket kits. The small crews began unloading the weapons and giving them to the Communist troops who took them and quickly the large cargo holds of the submarines were emptied out. The submarines then quickly submerged and left the island. They would be back, they were sure of that. How many more supplies they would bring they were unsure of.

How did your subs just appear?

A single Halladi ship began to enter the territorial waters of Cyprus. It was a large cargo not in the service of the Halladi Merchant Marine, but instead the Workers' Protection Agency. The organization in Hallad designated as domestic and foreign intelligence -- officially. Aid to communist insurgencies throughout the globe -- unofficially. And officially, it was doing standard commerce with Cyprus.

A message a was relayed to local communist leadership that they had a 'special' delivery for them. Pulling into the port, tensions began to run high. Halladi soldiers were onboard the vessel, as well as a number of WPA agents, and various paramilitaries.

They acted as normal, unloading the cargo as if it were standard commodity. In reality, however, the cargo was of a military nature. 20,000 HAR-1A assualt rifles, 10,000 HAP-1 automatic pistols, 5,000 HLMG-1 light machine guns, 5,000 HMG-1 machine guns, and 2,000 HSN-1 sniper rifles. Plenty of ammunition to go along with them, as well. There were also 20,000 MRE's. As for heavier equipment, there were 20 T-15 Main Battle Tanks, 50 Type 1B Towed 100mm AA Guns, 10 S220A1 220-mm Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, and S2000A1 SAMLS-1 (Surface-to-Air). Ammunition was also provided for these. The most important of the shipment came in the form of 12 Halladi MiG-28 "Flounder" fighter-bombers.

All of the equipment was unmarked and lacked registration numbers. As soon as the cargo was unloaded, the Halladis packed up and left -- except for a group of 20 WPA field agents and tactical advisors who were to instruct local communist forces on the use of their new toys.

OOC: Because that's the sort of thing you need to actually have a post saying and get the rebels approval, or else it's godmodding. Also, I hate to burst your bubble, but planes can't destroy a submerged submarine.

The USSC will be sending a small battlegroup to monitor the situation in Nuevo Italia's Cyprus.

The NBHI (Northern Baltic Heavy Industry) 4th Fleet cruised towerds the island of Cyprus with 2 Krivak Class escort ships (Thor II and Skögul) and one Kiev class carrier (Yrsa). The Kiev Class carrier carried 12 Yak-141, 4 Ka-25, 5 Ka-27, and 5 Ka-29 to provide aircover for the large convoy. The merchent ships carried what appeared to be a large amount of assorted food, but they were actully carrying T-90 tanks, Ak-74u Assault Rifles, hand grenades, RPG-29s, AT-7s, and Dragunov SVDs. They also carried plenty of ammo for all of the weapons and even some machinary to produce some of the ammo.

This ain't over! *Shakes fist at Cyprus*

A large montegrandean merchant ship was in its way to Famagusta, the mayor port of Cyprus, the Patrice Lumumba. Apart from the handguns of the captain and crew officers, the ship didn´t carry any sort of weaponry. They carried mainly food and medicines, along with health personnel and a few number of economic advisors. The civilian nature of the ship was so obvious that if sunk, the incident would be very difficult, if not impossible to explain by the enemies of the Cypriot Workers´ Republic.

The failure to sink the enemy weapons ships had greatly angered General Samuel Oron, who very much wanted to show off his military might. He had decided to drop in an elite assasin squad to wipeout the 20 Halladian agents who were training the communists in the use of their new weapons. He had also given the order to setup air patrols along the coastal areas of Cyprus to attempt to halt further weapons shipments. A supercarrier would be in the area by tommorow to begin launching the patrols. The elite assasin squad would be there in an even less amount of time and begin preparing to eliminate the Halladian agents.

OOC: Bigggg Mistake Nuevo Italia

IC: Dozens of ships carrying weapons and supplies began arriving in. They were normally escorted by Krivak class frigates, but a couple new Kraken class Super Dreds made the passage to show off the military might of the USSNB. Some carried manuals for katushya, mortars, qassams, or IEDs, while others carried Hong H-5 Light Bombers, Type 59-II tanks, dozens of Mig-27s, and even a dozen or so Scud-Ds and MAZ-543 launchers. Nearly every spare NBHI ship not on other duty was sent to Cyprus packed with every possible need for the island nation. Undercover NBAG (Northern Baltic Air Guard) flight trainers went to the island to help train their Air Force into a formidable fighting force.

The pilot quickly targeted the 4 biggest groups of ships and people and fired its 4 missiles. It wouldn't kill all of them but it would do some damage. The jet turned up a 90 degree angle and climbed for several hundred feet, did a mid air turn and made its way back to the carrier, which was still a few hundred miles from Cypriot waters.

A red dawn?

In the newly proclaimed Cypriot Workers´ Republic, the hope was growing inside the communist soldiers and supporters. After a short time of hostility, they were finally free of the imperialistic italian occupation. Even when it didn´t leave them away from any danger, this was still a quite important victory, a victory that would start a new era in Cyprus, for the good of the workers. That was why everyone was celebrating the agreement with Nuevo Italia. To be more precise, almost everyone.

Inside a soberly decorated medium size office there was a reunion around an ordinary table. A reunion of people that became very important for Cyprus in the last weeks. They were the leaders of the communist insurgency, which had became the legitimate government of Cypurs, at least for the moment, who started discussing how they would lead the country to socialism.

Visibly tired, their leader, Mikhail Malone, was listening the arguments between supporters of a more democratic line and a more orthodox stalinist view of socialism, which were becoming more confuse and aggresive as time passed without stating his particular view of the situation. The fact was, he knew the war against imperialists was far from over, because, in the first place, the agreement contemplated peace with Roma, which was the most passive of their enemies, and may be were expecting to win time, just as he was in that moment. "Imperialists never let go their privileges easily", he thought, remembering his time as an insurgent. Now, the scene was far from great. Their actual enemies would continue to attack, and the attack on a communitary hospital in the start of the revolution wasn´t very convincing for the GUSN, which seemed the most likely alternative to maintain the Workers´Republic in long term.

After a very vehement stalinist stopped his speech about the dictatorship of the proletariat, which enraged the more democratic communists, Mikhail first yelled at them to draw their attention and spoke. His views were simple: the best way to assure the survival of the Workers´ Republic was to gain the full support of the GUSN, and for that, they had to show commitment for the causes of civil rights, at the first time, and to avoid mistakes like the attack on the hospital. To calm down the stalinists, he assured that course of action was suggested just by the situation, which he reminded to their collaborers, was still difficult for them.

As well as the independence of the Cypriot Workers´ Republic, a National Salvation Commitee was proclaimed, composed by Mikhail Malone and his collaborers, which mission was to stablish collective democracy in the newly formed state. Also, it was publicly proclaimed they would respect civil rights, being torture and other abuses officially banned.

Even when it didn´t leave them away from any danger, this was still a quite important victory, a victory that would start a new era in Cyprus, for the good of the workers. That was why everyone was celebrating the agreement with Nuevo Italia. To be more precise, almost everyone.

Inside a soberly decorated medium size office there was a small reunion around an ordinary table. A reunion of people that became very important for Cyprus in the last weeks. They were the leaders of the communist insurgency, which had became the legitimate government of Cypurs, at least for the moment, who started discussing how they would lead the country to socialism.

Visibly tired, their leader, Mikhail Malone, was listening the arguments between supporters of a more democratic line and a more orthodox stalinist view of socialism, which were becoming more confuse and aggresive as time passed without stating his particular view of the situation. The fact was, he knew the war against imperialists was far from over, because, in the first place, the agreement contemplated peace with Roma, which was the most passive of their enemies, and may be were expecting to win time, just as he was in that moment. "Imperialists never let go their privileges easily", he thought, remembering his time as an insurgent. Now, the scene was far from great. Their actual enemies would continue to attack, and the attack on a communitary hospital in the start of the revolution wasn´t very convincing for the GUSN, which seemed the most likely alternative to maintain the Workers´Republic in long term.

After a very vehement stalinist stopped his speech about the dictatorship of the proletariat, which enraged the more democratic communists, Mikhail first yelled at them to draw their attention and spoke. His views were simple: the best way to assure the survival of the Workers´ Republic was to gain the full support of the GUSN, and for that, they had to show commitment for the causes of civil rights, at the first time, and to avoid mistakes like the attack on the hospital. To calm down the stalinists, he assured that course of action was suggested just by the situation, which he reminded to their collaborers, was still difficult for them.

As well as the independence of the Cypriot Workers´ Republic, a National Salvation Commitee was proclaimed, composed by Mikhail Malone and his collaborers, which mission was to stablish collective democracy in the newly formed state. With that a huge aid package was sent to the Cypriots. A interest-free loan was given to their government, of some 500 million dollars. A myriad of Halladi cargo ships began arriving at Cyprus's ports, bringing free-of-charge war materials and other commercial goods -- namely oil. Hundreds of Halladi main battle tanks, light tanks, and medium tanks were delivered to Cyprus along with SAMs, SSMs, and small arms. Forty eight more MiG-28 'Flounder' fighter-bombers were delivered.

The team of assasins mission had changed since the complete overthrow of the Imperials and the huge support of the Halladians. They were now not after them but the big fish, Mikhail Malone himself. As smart as the Halladians were they hadn't thought to heavily guard Mikhail Malone. Currently he was on his way out of a meeting, the last one of his life.

Elsewhere, in an abandoned apartment building, a lone sniper readied his specially adapted black L96A1, it was fitted with a silencer and a 3 setting scope. It also used special armor piercing rounds. He would have a 3 second window to neutralize the target, the time it would take for Mikhail Malone to step down the stairs and into his waiting vehicle.

OOC: You can't just say that they're going to go there, and have them arrive. They have to get through the borders, which are going to be well patrolled. What's more, you can't control what other people do. Which means that you can't control the amount of security Mikhail Malone has, or where he is. Read the stickies.

OOC: Don´t forget that there aren´t just halladis fighting this conflict, and I guess there is enough protection for Malone to offer resistance, as I clearly told he was not pretty confident about the new situation. Also, I stablished he is in Nicosia, and you have to pass a good line of armed communists that even qhen they are not as prepared as they would because they think the conflict is over, they were ordered to maintain the discipline by Malone as he seems not really confident. And afterwards, the decision whether he dies or not lies on whoi RPs the rebels, and that means me, and for now, I´m reluctant for that to happen, at least until I have stablished the line of the rebels. OOC: Not a excuse, firstly because what is godmoding is not just killing him, but entering just like nothing, skipping the necesary journey from the port where the halladi ships were docking to Nicosia, where Malone is well custodied, and attacking with no problem, forgetting that even when the soldiers have let their guard down a little, Malone hasn´t and generally after a coup anywhere, there is a state in which internal security, even when the term is vague, is never taken as a joke. Even without considering the major port of the island is Famagusta, there is some distance between the coastline and Nicosia, not to mention there would be at least one or two important troop detachments to Nicosia, considering there is a state of war that has still not cooled down.

In a top secret mission, four Halladi submarines were sent to the Mediterranean. Their mission was simple -- stalk the coast of Cyprus for enemies. They were four Halladi Beta-class nuclear-powered attack submarines. Quiet, small, but could back a punch, these were adept hunter-killer submarines that were crewed by the best of Hallad's submarine corps. Only one major combatant had been identified in the local area was an aircraft carrier from Aurum Domus -- which was operating without escorts and would no doubt be an excellent target for the Halladi Captains. The destruction of the carrier would undoubtedly look good on any Captain's record.

OOC: Please don't tell me this is godmoding, in the past few hours I have been trying to find a way to keep my ship there withotu beign destroyed and retreatign seems to be the only way. It is logical to assume that the Department of Defense would order the Mameluke to safety since the Aequatians have yet to arrive.

Thirty low flying Il-28T (Russians torpedo bomber versions of the Hong H-5) spotted the large carrier moving on their way to drop off the planes in Cyprus.
"Brenda this is Thor's Hammer 1, we got target moving 11 o' Clock. Waiting for attack order. Over."

The torpedo bombers targeted the carrier in the distence and moved as low as they could. Waves often touched the bottoms of the planes as they nearly touched the ocean.

While the torpedo bombers aimed for the ship's sides, the bombers flew low behind the aircraft carrier so they could attempt a low pass over the flight deck to drop their bombs and inflict damage without them being vurniable to as much anti-air fire that the torpedo bombers were prone to.

The Mameluke, 55 miles offshore and moving

"CODE RED!!! CODE RED!!," screamed the loudspeaker, "All fighters to their planes we are under attack."

The fighters took off and prepared to fight to the death. The Admiral and several other top officials weren't planning on dieing, they made their way into the LEOSF-1 and with a thunderous roar attempted to escape the doomed ship.

If the escort squadron could make it in time they might just have a chance to stay alive. The deck guns boomed as bombers flew low overhead, the ship was on fire but not in any danger of sinking at the present moment, even so escape craft were readied for all the non pilots in case the order to abandon ship came. No one really knew who was in charge as the Admiral and his top Lieutenants had fled moments before. The fate of the ship was in god's hands now.

Back in Aurum Domus all hell was breaking loose. Several squadrons were mobilised as soon as the under attack message was received. General Samuel Oron was in a tirade over the fact that the Aequatians had left him defenseless and that he could very well lose one of the greatist ships of the republic. He issued a formal declaration of war and ordered mobilisation of groudn troops for insertion as soon as the carrier battle was resolved.

The 25 torpedo bombers escorted by the fighters closed in on the north. The carrier would be under attack from all sides once the new torpedo bombers began their attack.

OOC: Ok, the fighters are Su Phoenixs armed with air-to-air missiles and the ship is armed with 10 .50anti aircraft guns and surface to air missiles. Misc. small arms are also aboard but I doubt theirs any use for them.

ICC: The escort squadron arrived and entered the fight. They dove low and began chasing the torpedo bombers while the others chased the fighters. These aircraft were all technologically superior to the MiGs. (OOC: At least I think, from what I recall the Mig was used back in Korea.) The deck guns continued shooting and in the lower decks of the ship the SAMs were given targets and launched.

OOC: Actually, MiG-29's are one of the top modern planes. MiG-19's were used in Korea. Those Il-28's are from the 1950's, though. The Yak-141 is from the 70s, I think.

For the first time since the revolution started, Mikhail Malone was actually smiling. Even when he was still concerned about a situation that wasn´t as comfortable as most of his supporters believed, he noticed the things were starting to run according to the plans. Firstly, they had the almost absolute control within the island, control that was officially recognized by Nuevo Italia, not to mention they were receiving weapons and support by fellow socialist nations, and the GUSN was demonstrating support, even when it had not decided to send official support of any kind, being noticeable that all the support sent until that moment was from GUSN member nations.

However, he didn´t rely in that significant advances to believe things were done and now the cypriot communists could do what they desired to do. He knew the moderate and democratic stance he was taking to draw the more than attention of the GUSN was upsetting the more orthodox faction of his own party, the one that has more enthusiastically fought against their enemies, which however, still respected and obeyed them with confidence. After all, he demonstrated not only courage in his times of rebel leader, but also an acute intelligence, an intelligence that was in part responsible for the recent success of the revolutionaries. The intelligence that planned to repay the loyalty and strength the stalinists gave to their cause with measures that wouldn´t affect their image in the offices of the GUSN.

The National Salvation Commitee was approving laws and guaranteeing order with the spark and vitality Mikhail Malone himself had. As well as the total ban of torture, and the defence of the civil rights, which were measures taken to warm up the relations with the GUSN, the National Salvation Commitee was trying to start the transition to socialism in the nation. The most recent disposals were the formation of councils all around the country, which were taking local decisions about production and other civilian concerns, the official creation of the Cypriot Workers´Army, measure that promised the communist soldiers a reasonable wage, and the stablishment of a commitee for the regulation of production, that would begin the collectivization of economy as well as the war state of the country allowed that to happen. IC: Three H-5 bombers flew right over the deck and dropped their loads one after the other after the other. They dropped their 2,000 kilogram bombs on the deck. One aimed for the service elevator. The other aimed for the few planes ready to take off on deck. The third aimed for the tower hopefully crippling the doomed vessel. A fight took off as the bombers were passing over the flightdeck. The bombers opened fire with their 2 NR-23 cannons on the fighter while the tailgunners opened fire with their rear 2 NR-23 cannons on the flightdeck.

12 torpedo bombers closed in on the south side of the carrier braving anti-air flak. 2 of them blew up from anti-aircraft fire while 2 more were destroyed by passing aircraft. 3 were damaged from the passing aircraft. They opened fire with their NR-23 cannons on the anti-air guns and release their torpedos 50 meters from the carrier. They pulled up and attempted to climb over the carrier and come around for another pass with their cannons. The torpedo bombers from the North were nearly there.

Hallad sent out another wave of supplies for the Cypriots. This time it was thousands of rifles as well as hundreds of URAL trucks, and light vehicles. Hallad also continued to sent aircraft, this time 24 MiG-28 "Flounder" fighter-bombers, 12 Su-36 "Imperator" interceptors, and 6 Tuk-95A "Bear" strategic bombers. A new addition to the supplies were small ships -- Executor-class guided missile boats. Light, fast missile boats designed for coastal defense. Ten of these were sent to the Cypriots -- all at heavily reduced prices or for free.

On board the Mameluke the situation continued to grow grimer, there were several gaping holes in the deck, the service elevator was destroyed, but thankfully the tower hadn't been completly destroyed by the bombing run. The bullets were whizzing by so fast it looked liek a cloud of locusts, the SAMs were also launching rapidly and getting many kills. Meanwhile in the lower decks, several escape subs were creeping out unoticed, the dove to the ocean floor and made their way towards home, there were still a few more subs but nowhere near as much to evacuate the surviving crew, their only chance was the several squadrons scrambled earlier in the day by the General, if they could hold out for just a few more hours the squadrons would coem and overwhelm the attackers.

The remaining bombers retreated to Cyprus. The Yak-141s and Mig-29s covered them from the fighters, but they also retreated. 14 Krivak warships and 1 Kraken Super Dred moved at top speed through the water and once they came in range, began opening fire with their SAM missiles at the aircraft.

As the SAMs continued firing, several Krivaks broke off from the main group. They approched the supercarrier and each fire a missile with a powerful EMP in it. On impact, the EMP activated. While the giant ship was being towed, engineer crews quickly worked to patch the holes caused by the torpedos. Many of them had to use scuba gear to weld the holes underwater, but the job was being completed as fast as possible. Meanwhile, marines searched the ship for any trace of life. All around the fleet, the klaxons sounded the Level 2 alert and more crews rushed to their stations.

At that moment, Admiral Mitscher got on the line to all ships and was piped through all the ships of the fleet.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have been given our new set of orders. Effective immediately, we are at war with the Communist Cyprus. Our orders are to liberate the island from the communists and restore its democracy. OOC: What kind of carrier is the supercarrier?

As they slowely dragged the wounded supercarrier back to port, engineers began seeing results in the holes they patched. Heavy duty water pumps were put in to remove the water all ready in the carrier, while Mig-29s and Yak-141s provided plenty of aircover for the fleet. They were only a few miles from shore now.

In the port city of Paphos, Northern Baltic engineers worked as fast as they could to build a dry dock big enough to house the supercarrier. Although they contacted the government of Cyprus to provide assistence with this project, the 1,500 Northern Baltic engineers were the only people there at the moment. If everything went as planned, they should only have to keep the supercarrier anchored off the coast for, at most, 2 days.

ICC: Three Phoenix fighters soared once again towards Cyprus. They were hesitant, for they had been ordered to fully disable the Mameluke and prevent the Northen Baltics from recommisioning it. There was no chance of them returning form this mission alive. They flew as fast as possible toward the offshore location where recon had seen the Mameluke being dragged. They got closer and when the carrier was in sight they were jumped by MiG 29's, they were shot at relentlessly but they ignored it and kept streaking. The pilots targeted all their missiles at the ocne great flagship, waiitng for them to hit, then dived straight into the carrier, killing themselves.

Meanwhile, the military was assembling in Aurum Domus. Reservists were called up and active duty members serving outside the country were called home. A huge fleet of carriers, destroyers, troop ships, and missile boats were assembling in the port city of Ingotin while the aircraft assembled at Fort Samuel. When their allies arrived they would be ready to begin their assault on the Communist dogs.

The great fleet steamed onward and in the lower decks of the great supercarrier Katana the plans were laid. The fleet would spread out and anchor in an undisclosed area and build up its defenses in preparation for the aerial invasion. Once the fleet was joined by its allies it would be unstoppable and the nations that support the Cypriot Communist dogs would think twice before risking so much on a small island nation. The Imperials would be put back into power and all would be well. At least, that was the general plan.

Several squadrons of SuF Phoenixes followed the Corneliuans into the battle and began downing the enemy aircraft, the bombers weren't far behind, only waiting for the all clear to begin bombing the enemy fleet.

The dry dock was finnaly completed. The entire fleet moved with the supercarrier (the holes were finnaly patched) to the dry docks, only a few miles North. The entire way there, they were well covered by anti-air missiles and fighter support.

The bombers dropped within visual range.

The 14 Krivaks, 2 Stalingrads, and 1 Kraken all pointed their anti-aircraft guns and SAMs towerds the diving bombers. Fighters grouped up and began trying to find locks on the bombers so they could fire their anti-air missiles. Other fighters simply just opened fire with all of their machine guns and cannons hoping to hit one of the bombers. Several Northern Baltic patrol boats appeared on the scene and also began to open fire on the aircraft. The sky was filled with anti-aircraft shells and missiles.

The squadrons chased after the ship, launcign missiles at it in a desperate attempt to disable it. Several were downed from anti aircraft fire and a few that had been hit with SAMs but not destroyed pointed the noses fo their aircraft at the supercarrier and dove. The bombers streamed in from behind followed by 2 more squadrons of fighters. The Bombers flew high, protected by fighters, and dropped as many laser guided bombs on the ships as they could carry. Other bombers carpet bombed the escort fleet in an attept to disrupt the movement of the ship.

"We have incoming." said Lt. Fisco.

"Maintain formation and do not fire till I give the go ahead. God I love stealth."

The continue to move forward at reduced speeds now as to not draw attention.

"Group 2 this is group 1. Fire at the enemy aircraft."

"Roger bossman." said Colonel Hoyt. He switched freqs. "Ok rivrrats, you heard the man, fire at wil."

With that, missiles fired at the oncoming aircraft and the zoomed forward to meet them head on.

However, Four of the planes were shot out of the sky as the flew into a hail of bullets and the crews of all four planes perished. Fifteen additional planes had to break off due to damage.

At sea, the ships fired off a few more missiles at the enemy ships in an attempt to actually free the carrier.


"Sir, they are trying to find us."

Commander Stormbringer looked out at the fast moving patrol boats as the gatteling guns nearly fired none stop at the aircraft. Several Northern Baltic Su-47's accompined by 35 Mig-29s joined the frey and targeted the bombers. Despite taking several major hits, the supercarrier's hull was not damaged. The same could not be said for the rest of the ship. The comm tower however took a major hit and half of it was gone. The other half was on fire.

The 2 Staingrad Battlecruisers pointed their 17 inch guns at the coordinates and the Kraken Super Dred did the same with her 20 inch guns.

Once the order was given, all the guns fired at almost exactly the same time. The noise was defeaning. No doubt troops from both sides were waiting for their ear drums to recover. Good thing the Northern Baltic airmen had high quality noise cancelling headphones, but it was doubtable that that would fully block out the noise. The fire at will order was given and Northern Baltic crews worked as fast as they could to load, fire, and reload the shells. 15 more Super Dvora Mk-III Patrol Boats joined the fray. Marines on the ships opened the weapons lockers and opened fire on the passing aircraft with Sa-18s and KPV Machine Guns.

As the missiles moved towerds the Krivak ships, the anti-missile systems kicked. The computer controlled gattling guns were red hot from firing. On 4 ships, missiles got passed. One hit the radar tower of the Brendaknocking out communications from that vessel. Another hit one of the torpedo launchers of anorther Krivak the Ullr. The ship began to take on water and dozens of lives were lost from the inital explosion. A third Krivak ship was hit right above the water line. The missile went right through the heavy armor and hit the ammunition room. Killing everyone aboard the ship.

300 Fighters were launched to form a Defensive Perimeter around the battlefleet, as well as numerous Radar Planes.

A bit of democracy

For the National Salvation Commitee the things weren´t as promising as they were the preceding days and even the stalinists knew that the things needed desperate measures. Democratic desperate measures by the way. They realized that when the notices of combats between battles in the waters nearby and the approachment of massive enemy fleets decided to end with the recently acquired independence of the nation was making even the most veteran members of the party nervous about the outcoming of the conflict and a possible revenge on the civilian population taken by the ones who are using "democracy" as an excuse to enslave and destroy, just as always happened.

In the National Salvation Commitee´s session of that day, Mikhail Malone spoke in favor of the idea of creating a People´s Front agrouping not only the Cypriot Communist Party, but also another milder parties interested in democracy, like the Green Party, the Socialist Party and even the centrist Radical Party. That would demonstrate to the world that they weren´t the monsters fascists tried to say they were, and by the contrary, the fascists were trying to end with the sovereignity of a nation because of ideologic and economic concerns. The situation looked so grim that the motion was accepted easily, and the green, socialist and radical parties were contacted, being set a reunion of the leaderships of the four parties that exact day.

That reunion came out almost as Malone and the communists wanted, because the four parties agreed to form the People´s Front, but on the condition that a Constituent Assembly was to be formed if they could win the war, and also multipartidary democracy would be respected not only in the councils but also in the creation of a representative democracy combined with the direct democracy of the councils. That wasn´t what the communists expected, but were willing to agree to see Cyprus free from the imperialists. If a democratic socialist side (not social democrat, any ways) was against the fascists, they would have more chance of international assistance in that conflict. Also, the communists agreed with the still small anarchist group that were rejoicing about the creation of the councils military and civilian cooperation, mainly to organize together the resistance of the councils, which were controlled mainly by communists, socialists and anarchists.

Two days later, in the very meeting in which the formation of the People´s Front creation was announced, Mikhail Malone decided to tell the citizens of Cyprus the truth, a turth that radio, newspapers and television would spread across the country:

The many assitants to that meeting, doesn´t matter they were communists, socialists, green, radical, anarchists or simply patriotic cypriots, answered at one:

"Long live the People´s Front, long live the Workers´ Republic: the motherland shall be free at last."

At the time, the recenlty founded army, now called Cypriot Republican Army, was preparing to engage the enemy. As well, all around the country the councils were arming the people, recruiting soldiers by voluntary conscription, working harder in factories anbd fields. Now the enemies of the revolution were facing not a group of insurgents but really a people that was preparing to defend their independence, at all costs, a people that was mainly apathetic until the creation of a People´s Front, and with freedom as a possible destiny if they had the strentgh of will to fight for it.

The Republic will never support a nation who's government has usurped the previous rulers unless the have usurped Communist rulers. If the previous rulers were returned but ruled democratically we would be willing to end this conflict. While Aurum Domus isn't a democratic nation it takes care of its people, a strict Communist government does not.

Victor kicked in his after burners and the rest of the planes followed him. However, 4 Mig-29s were downed and 7 were badly damaged in the retreat along with 19 that had been damaged in the battle.

The fleet engaged in the manual shut down of all electronics on the ship save for the special launchers at the front of 7 of the Krivaks. As they began firing surface to air missiles with EMP Warheads designed to explode in mid-air within a certain range to their targets: the bombers, several Marine crews brought up 3 rather bulky boxes. Once the EMP missiles were finished firing at the high level bombers and were shut off, they activated the boxs and extremly powerful EMP waves that had the ability to each disable everything electronic within a mile was rendereduseless.

Chaffs and flares were firing off the aircraft to draw away the S.A.M.s but some still found their target as 7 more aircraft disappeared in a ball of fire. The fighter wings banked and fired at other enemy planes.

"This is Tango 1 to Tango 2. Time to light a fire under the enemy."

"roger that 1." The second group commander reported. He switched freqs to a new signaled.

When the messege was received, two more additional wings of fighters left their protective stance of the fleet and moved in at extremely low level so that they can stay below the radars of the enemy forces.

"All units stand by to pop up on my command." The air war was just heating up.

At sea, Mitscher was getting the latest information from the ongoing air and sea battle. "Sir they've been launching 17 and 20" shells at us for whatever reason and continued to fall well well short. They know where we are but their planes have not yet penetrated the fighter screen we have out there. We do not know what they are aiming for but they continue to expose themselves to our fighters and dropping. We have suffered fighter casualties ourselves but the squadrons, groups and wings are doing well in compensating."

"The ships are still surrounding the carrier. Missiles have been launched to free the ship but we do not know how many loyalist forces they have on board. I do not know if we have to blow it or not."

The message from Aurum Domus was reproduced by the massive communication media in all the island. The effect was obvious. The cypriot people were therefore convinced the only way to preserve their freedom and the progresses the change of government made in the political field was to fight and defeat their invaders. Even when Mikhail Malone was kind of worried about to where the measure the National Salvation Commitee took was going to take the revolution, a revolution that was growing real after it left the Communist Partty to install in the bulk, in the "simple" citizens, the ones who were postponed until the exact moment they gave part of their power to assure the independence of the people they claimed to represent.

However, in the Republican Army, the effects were being inmediatly noted as the morale, preparation and even size of the Army was expected to grow because they were not fighting alone the war: a people was fighting it, not only an army. The operations were about to begin and the troops were convinced to fight to death: after all, this was their land, they had to defend it.

OOC: It´s up to you what you do, but I suggest you first read the thread and then act. Firstly, remember Cyprus is an island, a little one. You cannot send a gigantic army and there is no point too. Also, the situation has evolved since that first post.

The LEOSF-1s continued accelerating and were finally in sight of the battle takign place over the Northern Baltican fleet, they each targeted their missiles and let loose, fire was opened up on the approacing fighters but they were too fast, as soon as the last man launched his missiles the huge group of fighters streaked back high into the sky to avoid any EMP device. Even if a big oen was fired they would be notified, they had a direct link with a stealth space station orbiting high above. They had been monitoring the situation since it began, as soon as the first few missiles had been launched at the other fighters energy spikes had appeared on their screens and ground based recon had confirmed that they were EMP.

OOc: The EMPs sound a little to much like a super weapon...

The Battlefleet soon changed course to go around the naval battle and land elsewhere on the Island. There were enough Helicoptors on the Amphibious Assault Ships to land a Regiment on the island without worrying about the geography.

The Commander looked out of the window at what was left of his fleet. Bring weapons systems online. The weapon systems of the Kraken were brought back online and a signal flare was shot telling the other ships to do the same.

The EMP Launchers were quickly reloaded as the bombers came into radar.

The EMPs began to fire using high altitude missiles designed by several foriegn companies.
The gunners figured that the bombers were attempting to stay in formation to increase damage down on the ships, so they aimed for the EMP to go off a couple dozen meters in front of the first plane of the group.
The ships continued to slowely move even though the giant tug boats had to be replaced twice already. That didn't matter. They were only a few more miles from the port.
The first wave of Mig-29s arrived to continue defending the heavily damaged supercarrier and the rest of the fleet. The second and third waves were on their way. Ships that were wounded on the way were simply left behind, however small boats sped out to rescue any crew they found.

OOC: Godmod. 20,000 people is a lot to send by submarine, and there is no way they would go unnoticed. Let alone get through the heavily defended beaches alive.

OOC: Also, my troops are patrolling the coasts, and 20,000 soldiers from a submarine is a bit too much. Also, how did you avoid the halladi ships that at last notice were patrolling? and what about the "communist" reception commitee they would find if they reached the shore?. If you didn´t notice, the cypriots received a great ammount of weapons and ammo, and one of the consequences of the people´s front is the people was arming and the republican army grew in number and activity. That´s exactly why I suggested you read the thread first.

About Aurum domus, who accused godmodding, I will just remember he posted their assassins who were in the shore of Cyprus went out to Nicosia (in the inland) and killed the communist leader, Mikhail Malone, assuming he wasn´t protected and assuming to know where he was. Then, they unilaterally assumed they intercepted a communist encrypted telegram (move I accepted), and in the battle with Northern Baltic, even when the EMPs of Northern Battle can be godmodding, he avoided them with strange at least PMT technology, and when some of the socialist side members wanted to invade him because of his attitude, he fleed accusing us of godmodding.... That´s what happened.

OOC: Is it even possible to transport troops by sub? I mean, you'd need landing craft and stuff, even if subs had enough room. That and the recon aircraft and patrols'd catch it after a few minutes. Landing 20,000 men'd take a good few hours, if not a day.

A giant celebration that would be brodcausted worldwide was taking place in the dry docks today as the supercarrier was complete. It was renamed 'Socialism Prevails' and animated battle reinactments showed the battle between Northern Baltic and Aurum forces. It showed Aurum troops as fat, greedy capitalists, that due to their own greed, were not able to defeat the valient Northern Baltic forces. At the end, it showed the few dead Northern Baltic forces joining the Valkyries.

Several hundred H-5 Light Bombers, Mig-29s, and Mig-27s had landed in several airfields in Cyprus. The NBAG instructors began their training of the Cyprus people shortly after they got there. A Northern Baltic tank division had also landed in the harbor and began moving towerds their intended area where they would stay: a now abandoned goverment housing apartment complex sector. 3,000,000 SKS Carbine Rifles were sent by ship to Cyprus as well.

As helicopters came towards Cyprus, they were picked up by both Halladi naval units and ground units. SAM brigades on land prepped their missiles for launch. Mobile radar stations alerted the Cypriot government of the incoming force, and the Halladi fleet moved towards the invasion forces flank. When they were within range, some 50 long range SAMs were fired at the helicopters and their escorts from the fleet.

Just on the shores of Cyprus, Halladi anti-aircraft units were set up. Not SAM brigades, but units of towed 100mm anti-aircraft guns still employed by the Halladi Red Army. There was one brigade in the area where the helicopters were crossing over. Some 35 guns began to open up on the relatively low-flying helicopters.

Further inland were SAM brigades, who opened fire as the helicopters and their escorts came into range. IC: The Northern Baltic fleet began almost completly pulling out of Cyprus. The only warships that was seen were the ones escorting the merchent ships which carried weapons and ammunition to the Cyprus people.

The huge 500mm Coastal Guns slowely turned around. They had their target: those damn Capitalists on the beaches. After they completly turned out, they each fired a dud shell to be sure their aim was true. Then they began opening fire. High explosive shells at first then when they could assure there would be no civilian casualties, cluster shells. All the shells were guided by Northern Baltic satellites. Meanwhile, the Northern Baltic Assault Troops moved out. They would keep hold of the 2 nearby cities and not allow the troops from getting past where they were already. The Capitalists would all die here. No prisoners would be taken.

The SAM missiles took down 78 Helicoptors and a 67 Aircraft, a further 13 Helicoptors went down from the AAA before the first troops touched down. Yet another 9 fell victim as they were in their vulnerable hovering position. Only 3 Quarters of the Regiment made it onto the LZ.

Ducking in shallow foxholes, the Command platoon gave orders, radioman chattered constantly. "1st, 2nd, and 4th Companies, get those fucken AA guns out of Commision! Get those mortars up, we need firesupport NOW! 7th Company, start digging! The regiment will be coming on in an hour, we'll need some room for them, clear out the area! Get the co-ordiantes to our Battleships immediately, and get our carriers to send up the MRs!"

The Companies, split up into their squads moved in all directions to clear out any nearby enemies and to get at the AA guns. They would also need the room to bring in their own artillery as the 85mm Mortars would not be enough.

Upon recieving the co-ordinates of the Enemy SAMs and Artillery (through heat and smoke signatures and radar tracking), the 21" Triple Turrets rotated, the ship rocked heavily as the 4 turrets simultaneously fired on each of the 4 Battleships. The Cruisers also assisted with their smaller, but faster firing 8" cannons.

The Destroyers and submarines headed forth to skirmish with the enemy fleet, they were ordered to stay away and only to strike at long range with torpedoes and Missiles.

The Carrier sent up Mulirole Fighters, loaded with Ground attack weaponry, the Fighters in the Air were only equipped with AA weaponry. In their Squadrons of 4, the MR fighters came upon the island to fire their load upon the Heavy coastal guns and any smaller artillery, that gave their position away with their large, easily detectable shells.

Hundreds of Sa-2 and Sa-6 SAMs along with countless AA guns stood in between the fighters and the heavy coastal guns. Heavy 203mm Type 95 Self Propelled Artillery were brought into the towns and now began to open fire on the mortar positions with cluster shells. Elite Northern Baltic troops kept them well guarded from both air and ground units.

The Halladi fleet, as well as Halladi air units on the island, were heading towards the helicopters and their escorts. There were some 85 Su-36 Imperators coming from the Halladi Jon Connolly-class aircraft carrier, and a mix of MiG-28's and Su-36's coming from the other two carriers -- each with 85 planes coming from each carrier. Another 24 MiG-28 Flounders and 24 Su-36's from airstrips on Cyprus. They began to target helicopters and enemy planes with long range fire-and-forget missiles.

Meanwhile on the ground, the AAA unit in the area lost 6 guns, and 5 more were damaged. Four SAM's were destroyed, and 8 damaged from the aircraft and mortars. Fortunately for them, their own artillery support was in the vicinity. The guns and missiles of the Republican Guard began to bear down on the enemy troops. Around 75 towed and self-proppelled artillery units, as well as smaller units of mortars from the infantry, began to unload on the Nicksyllvanians. Two SSM brigades also began to fire off rockets from MLRS's and other conventional missiles -- such as the non-guided Sakr-80's, SCUD-D's, and FROG-7's.

The Halladi navy turned its guns and missiles toward the Nicksyllvanian fleet. The two Insurgent-class Battlecruisers fired off 36 P-190 "Spearhead" AShMs and 43 3M82 "Sunburn" AShMs each at the larger ships of the fleet, while the 12 Centurion-class cruisers, 12 Ryydra-class destroyers, 6 Two Tone-class destroyers, and 16 True Directorate-class Frigates fired off a barrage of 300 missiles at escorts and aircraft carriers. The single Paladin-class Battleship stayed in its position, not firing yet. From the back of the fleet, the 6 Delta-IV class SSGNs fired off another 12 missiles at the larger vessels.

On the ground, 2,000 mechnized infantry supported by armoured brigades from the Republican Guard division on Cyprus were sent to help contain and engage enemy troops as they landed.

The first and second infantry divisions of the Cypriot Republican army were sent to engage the enemy, along with armoured brigades, and air support. As well, the artillery positions near the beaches roared as the defense of the territory was imperative. Thr fascists shall not return alive to their countries, and the independence was going to be final, with the help of the halladi and northern baltic troops.

Also, the civilian population nearby was evaquated, and the leader of the cypriot troops that were fighting against the fascists, Commander Alexyos Katsouris, a furious stalinist was decided to destroy the enemy forces or die. That was why he was sent to the mission, until reinforcements arrived.

Considerably later than their allies, 2000 men of the Cautetan infantry left the town they had been billeted, hurrying to the gunfire. Communication between platoons was shakey at best, and the vague "Lend aid wherever necessary as quickly as you can." Order they had been given had resulted in a deal of unorthodox methods. Civilians had stared as URAL trucks crammed with men rushed along dirt roads, escorted by T-72 tank platoons. The UAZ jeeps reserved for AT soldiers were weaving in and out of these convoys, and BMP and BRD-8 infantry fighting tanks roared through villages, throwing up plumes of dust.
Corporal Atar Rajid clung to the rail of the BRD-8 he was perched on the side of, squinting through the dust. There were 5 other men sitting on top of the tank, all with their caps pulled down low and scarves pulled up to their noses to keep the grit out of their eyes and mouths. Atar was fiddling with his radio, struggling to get the command frequency while staying safely on the tank. He was only catching snatches of conversation through the static.
"... regroup at... 2,56... engage all enemy... in vicity... target... rea. Suppor... Baltic and... llad forces... spotters call airstri... whenever necess..." The radio hissed and spluttered in his hands as he straight to hear.
"Hey Rajid, any luck figuring out what the plan is?" The major shouted across to him.
"I'm not sure! I think we're just supposed to help Baltic and Hallad defend the island, you know?" He replied. The major stared at him.
"Oh, great. That's great." He looked up at the battle lines, which were only a couple of kilometres away, and pounded on the turret of the tank. The gunner opened the hatch and peered out.
"What's up, sir?" He asked.
"You're to drop us off at that Hallad artillery battery, I'll send up a flare to get the platoon to gather there!" The major bellowed in the gunner's face. The man nodded, and ducked back inside the tank.

Soon a fair sized group of infantry squads and tank platoons had gathered by one of the Hallad batteries.
"Where's squad D?" Asked the major, staring down the road they had come from.
"Stray shell hit their truck, sir!" Called a private. "Sarge said they were to head back with their wounded!"
The major growled.
"Any luck with the radio, corporal?"
"Nothing really new, sir. We've got some MiGs and hinds nearby, though. HQ says we can call up airsupport and medivacs when we need them."
"We'll wait here for now, no sense in advancing into that..." Said the major, gesturing vaguely at the warzone behind him, where missiles and shells contributed to the thick smoke spreading into the sky. "But get those MiGs circling this position. Keep these guns safe from enemy fighters." He glanced towards the SAM launchers. "Not that they need it."

Helicoptors carrying 155mm Towed Howitzers arrived, along with more soldiers, including an engineering company. Another 32 Helicoptors were destroyed as they came in, or returned to the ships to pick up more men.

Nicksyllvanian Fighters descended upon they enemy firing Long range Missiles and engaging closer to fire their closer range missile. Another 14 Fighters were destroyed by enemy AA, as one of the fighters lost control the pilot in a heroic manuever managed to guide his plane into an enemy artillery battery, with his tank still half full. The Multirole Fighters continued bombarding enemy artillery positions with cluster bombs and AT missiles, and occassionally heliping in the Airwar with their 30mm cannons. 24 MR Fighters launched with Anti-Shipping missiles to target the enemy carriers.

The Halladi Missiles headed towards the Imperial Fleet, the escorts and battleships fired their own SAM (around 150) and Anti-Shipping missiles (400) before the missiles came in. The CIWs fired Anti-missiles missiles at 4km, before engaging them with their cannon at 1km. 1 Destoyer Sank another was barely floating, a Cruiser was heavily Damaged, and a Battleship had 2 140mm DP turrets blown off, as well as numerous ships were scathed, a Carrier recieved a direct hit on its deck, repair crews immediately got to work to make the deck usuable by aircraft. The 140mm DP cannons and 50mm AA cannons fired upon any nearby aircraft while the Large bore cannons continued to support the Ground troops by firing upon enemy artillery positions.

The LZ was under heavy fire, soldiers desperately dug deeper for more cover while others ran for the 155mm Howitzers and towed them by hand to a foxhole. Their bodyarmour protected their head, torso, and groin well against the shrapnel but that alone did not save many. The mortars fired at the enemy infantry oncoming, some mortars fired upon the enemy artillery with Infrared guided HEAT rounds, that propelled itself to vehicle engines, and unleashed a parachute to allow the HEAT warhead to hit at the right angle. The Howitzers were set up and fired their shells primarily at enemy artillery. Engineers started assisting in the construction of the fieldwork, while other engineers threw ladders down the cliff, the helicoptors were taking heavy damage and they would soon need to use ships to bring more men ashore, although they would still need a proper shore or port before they can bring in vehicles.

The frontline Infantry engaged the Enemy, firing their powerful 8mm Rifles, and using their Squad Machine guns to suppress the enemy. Recoilless rifles fired 110mm HE rounds at the infantry, and Tandem shells at any tank or IFV. As they gave suppressing fire upon the enemy, other squads moved forward to prudent cover, then gave suppressing fire, allowing the other squads to move up, they cannot let the enemy set up a strong front near the LZ and thus went on the offensive, with bayonets fixed as they moved in their pattern towards the enemy and attempted to flank them.

A convoy of 300 T-95 Northern Baltic tanks and 150 Type-95 Self Propelled Howizters along with dozens of support trucks and BTR-T APCs passed the Cautetan troops. They were on their way to frontlines. Mig-29s provided cover air cover for them. Meanwhile, 15 Tu-95 Bombers flew over enemy positions at 30,000 feet. They opened their bomb bays and began dropping smart bombs on enemy positions.

Meanwhile, 2 Pathfinder Dreds, 1 Stalingrad Class Battlecruiser, 3 Krivak Class Frigates, 1 A-215 Grad Rocketship, 3 Kiev Class Carriers, and 1 Kirov Class Battlecruiser headed towerds the Halladi Navy ships. The Kiev Class Carriers and Pathfinder Dreds launched a total of 56 Yak-141's which joined the attacking Halladi fighters. The fleet then radioed and meet up with the Halladi ships that were firing on the enemy and did the same. The Katushya Rocketship was moving into position to fire.

The tanks moved up accompined by Tunguska mobile anti-air guns and supported by low-flying Mi-24E helicopters and self-propelled howitzers. The tanks began to open fire with their machine guns and main guns as they moved across the battlefield in a wedge formation driving right into the enemy's frontlines without stopping. Troops behind them supported by APC's and IFV's picked off the men the T-95's missed.
