Off Site WWII RP [OOC info]

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Soviet Union left the game, his spot is now available if he decides not to return!

Okay, so I'm sure this has been done a million times but a few years back, an off site WWII rp branched off from a more modern world war rp that took place on these forums. I can honestly say that based on how it was set up and conducted that it was one of the better RP experiences I have had thus far on Nationstates. So, now I am going to attempt to recreate it using new players or potentially some veterans. However, it had some very specific rules that have to be followed:

1. Every month is equivilant to one year, starting at 1935 and ending in 1946.
2. You may only use technology YOUR COUNTRY had at the "current year" we are playing at. (ei: Austrians in 1935 have no B-52s)
3. Colonies belong to the countries that controlled them on January 1st 1935
4. No non player-controlled coutry may be invaded.
5. The war begins the same way but will end differently (ei: Germany is the agressor but not necessarily the looser)

Unlike many RP based wars, this one is based heavily around technology and strategy since all statistics and maps are available. I highly suggest that each party involved in a fight discuss and agree upon troop locations before the fighting continues and that all losses are as statistically accurate as is reasonable and agreed upon by everyone. However, this should not eliminate the RP aspect of this, it is an RP after all.

A final note concerning technology:

Modifying technologies you receive along the way to suite your needs is fine. This does not give you liscense to turn a paper airplane into a stealth bomber, but configuring things differently so that equiptment is better suited for a certain mission is acceptable. Also, there were many failed projects during the war, in hind sight it is easy to modify them into leathal killing machines. Unless it is a small change that only has a moderate affect on efficiency try to keep our current day knowledge about technology to a minimum, just so that we dont run into too many troubles.

I have yet to make an off site forum becuase I'm not sure how much interest this will attract, but once we have 5-10 commited players I'll create them.

Good luck, Amerikanski. The Motherland is going to be under much better leadership this time around.
I think I'll finish the Borodino class of battleships this time around...depends on when they were scrapped. Anyway...screw British biplanes, Im blowing the Bismark out of the water ;)

Id suggest against that, and use the funds to properly equip your Army, so that every soldier has a rifle and ammunition.:p

Oh! and I'll take Poland. I want a challenge.

Hopefully, as I don't plan on taking on the Germans Alone. As long as you don't kill This guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Tukhachevsky) or any of the other good generals of the Soviet army, then you should be fine.

Actually, the funding from the Borodino class was put into submarines >_> Stalin built 300-some before the war started.
As it is, the Peoples Navy is going to have a bit more...oomph when the war starts.
The Soviet Marines were pretty decent...I see it as my duty to get them into the history books this time around ;)

Well, you have 4 years of Stalinist purges to wade through. Just build a large enough military machine so that you don't have to worry that your troops are each worth about 1/3 a German one.

Perhaps. I can only hope, as that means Hitler won't be as much of an idiot when it comes to micromanaging his troops.

Oh well, for the first half of the time frame, all I have to do is sit around, send harsh letters to the Nazis and the Japanese, and ship weapons to England.

For the harsh letters, the US foreign policy towards Japan at this time was tell them to stop and hope they do.

As for the Nukes, there are two large problems with Japan getting one. First of all, you have no realistic capability. You lack the reserves of Uranium (although china does have some) necessary to make one. Secondly, Japan lacks an effective delivery system (like a B class bomber), as its air power is reliant on carrier-based aircraft rather than heavy bombers.

It would be interesting to see Japan with nukes though:D
Shakal

First of all, sorry for the bad spelling in the last post.
Second, I know that stuff, it would just be funny to see Japan manage to get an arsenal of nukes big enough to make demands of the US and Soviets. I could get China awarded to me...

I'll be Ireland; it could have played a bigger anti-British role and could have been more supportive of the Axis in my eyes...or, maybe, it may have turned its sights to allying with America whom held many Irish immigrants.

A good point actually. The De' Velera years were exceedingly socialist and I could see a pact as making sense. However, Eire would not have joined Communist International or the USSR...it was fiercly nationalist and fiercly socialist.

Why, we dont expect such repayment from our Socialist Comrades in arms, your friendship is all we require ;)

Sovreign Eire shall not be bound by any agreements but, like yourself, we feel threatened by Nazi Germany and the UK which, according to Adolf Hitler himself, seem prepared to ally.

As a nation who is already partially occupied by the United Kingdom in the ancient province of Ulster we look kindly to any agreement and shall consider them. Regardless, we offer a hand of friendship to the USSR which seems prepared to look out for their brothers who, as I'm sure you can sympathise with, are currently occupied by imperealist neighbours.
The Jade Star
25-02-2007, 21:30
Well of course, the Soviet Union has no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of a soverign country, we natrually respect the rights of all peoples to establish nations without fear of being bullied by their more powerful neighbors. After all, with the rising threat of National Socialism we feel that world unification can perhaps be delayed in favor of immidiate survival.

In the upcoming struggle we will of course assist our Socialist Brethren in the interest of spreading the cause of Communism.
etc. etc. etc.
Niploma

Eire's currently primary interest is to liberate our people in the North of Ireland; which is currently occupied by the United Kingdom. We, thus, officially fail to recougnise any part of Ireland to be under British rule; we declare, in accordance with the 1916 proclomation, all of Ireland to be the sole property of Eire and her peoples - whom are represented by the Government of Eire.

We shall only enter in any agreement which upholds our position. Eire was founded on the principle of neutrality, yet, we cannot ignore the key and central issue of the occupation of our lands. If we must become hostile to one nation, or several, we shall do so with a sigh for this is not in our international interests.
