Basically my introduction topic.

The nation of Tyrrena is small- but much of it's population is made up of the T.D.F-The Tyrrena Defence Force, concentrating on strength in number. About 500,000 men and women fight mock battles in preparation for the bloody conflicts sure to come.

Using Post-Modern technology, members of the T.D.F use Gauss weaponry to accelerate a slightly less toxic version of Mercury- forming quite deadly and effective weapons.

The primary unit of the T.D.F is the Guardian.
Most effective in large numbers, the Guardian will hold the line in most assaults

The secondary unit of the T.D.F is the Extremist (Ex-Treh-Mist)

Using more advanced Gauss weaponry, Extremists rely on HALO(LO=Low Orbit) Drops using orbital platforms to arrive where they need to be quickly.

Still, you have ten percent of your population in the military? That is a bit much for peacetime; generally such numbers are only reached in times of total war, and only by the more desperate of combatants. When that happens, the economy, should that sort of number continue, will quickly cannibalize itself (though, admittedly, this is partially due to the fact that, should a nation be desperate enough to employ this many people, it is likely that the enemy is already bombing and shelling their economy).
I find, if one is to be heavily militaristic, one might go with 5% of your population.

OOC: I'd think gauss technology would be a tad more FT than PMT, and at least far, far, far PMT to say the least. That aside, if you want to come down to MT/PMT, i'd be happy to help you form up your military, at least far more professionally than what just about any other player on NS.
