The 1st and 2nd Griffincrest fleets were now within range of the TPF defenses. Planes were being readied on the decks of the carriers, missiles were being loaded aboard the arsenal ships, and shells loaded inot their cannons. Admiral Ironclaw sat in the bridge of his Kraken class dreadnought and watched as the TPF fighters engaged their Amazonian counterparts. He turned to his radioman, and ordered him to radio to the Amazonians that help has arrived, and then to tell the carriers to launch their fighters.

In minutes, dozens of F-14's and Su-15's had taken to the sky, all hoping to take revenge upon the enemies forces for the thousands of casualties that they inflicted during their failed invasion of the Confederacy. Men began to call out their targets as missiles from both fighter and ship screamed for the enemy aircraft.

Two of the Volcano class arsenal ships had now also loaded up, and targeted the enemy ships that attempted to defend theit beloved homeland. Each ship contained 160 missiles, each one a C-802 anti-shipping missile.

As the missiles streaked overhead, a young field mercenary stood crowded with hundred of others like him aboard on of the dozens of transport ships brought in with the two fleets. Bright flashes lit up the sky above him, and chunks of burning metal fell continuosly around him and his brethren. His Co-ordinator was attempting to yell the battle plan over the noise of the battle overhead, but it was useless, as Octavius and undoubtedly most of the others could not hear him. For Octavius, this battle was personal. He fought the TPF marines on the coast near Paradise City, and he had seen so many of his friends killed by the pointless and relentless missile barrages sent up by the TPF navy. Now, he felt, he would avenge that attack, and show ThePeoplesFreedom what a real Confederate was.

The missiles began to screech towards the beach. Men ran to their bunkers and hid, waiting for the attack.

Meanwhile, more than four hundred land based Anti-shipping missiles were fired at the enemy fleet.

Following that, dozens of 500mm Railguns fired on the enemy ships, targeting the carriers and Arensal ships first and foremost.


OCC: Which fleet are you attacking, there's not one near you, currently.

OOC: I just assumed that you would send a fleet to meet mine.

Dozens of explosions began to rock the fleet as ships began to keel over and spill their crews inot the water. The hundreds of CIWS guns within the fleet all began snapping to life, along with the various other anti-missile systems strew throughout the fleet, and that managed to save many ships. Still, others were lost, mostly due to the railgun fire. Four of the Chieftain class pocket battleships were swept beneath the waves, along with many of the smaller ships.

The railgun positions, however, were all immediatly tracked, and the other Volcano's soon had their targets. The ten remaining ships opened up with a barrage making 1600 Scud-B missiles come screaming down upon the coastal railguns and missile systems. Should any of the systems along the coast survive, the second stage of coastal mop up would be undertaken.

While the fighters engaged each other in the sky, dozens of F-4 Phantom II's and Gnat's would be launched from their carriers and fly far below the dogfights in the sky. Each wing of aircraft contained three Gnats and an F-4, and each one was assigned a different target. The coastal defenses of TPF would soon collapse, and then it would be the time for the mercenaries to have their chance.

IF The Griffincrest forces thought it would be that easy to destroy the railguns, they were sorely mistaken. As the thousands of missiles screamed in, hundreds of Thor Laser sites fired, taking down hundreds of missiles, the remanding three hundred missile crashed into the steel-reinforced concrete, however, it was so heavily fortified that they simply shook, but even so, about eight railguns were destroyed when their bunkers collapsed. Each railgun could get four shells off a minute, and there were 36 of them. The enemy carriers and arsenal ships shouldn't last much longer.

OOC: Blackhelm, I haven't had any fighter contact yet-I've just had missiles launched at me (losses in the other thread), and a bomber force (apparently all killed, as they made a suicide charge on my fleet-tallied the kills there into my other post as well)

The missiles were expected to be defended against. It seemed, however, that the enemy neglected to attack the attack wings, who proceeded to drop their ordnance upon the remaining railgun positions. The Gnats each pairs of 500lb bombs after a quick strafe of the positions with their ADEN cannons. This attack on the bunkers would be followed by the F-4 attack, which should be the death knell for the surviving positions. Four GBU-10 2,000lb laser guided bombs would meet each bunker. This, hopefully, would be enough to end them.

At sea, meanwhile, crews were desperatly trying to save there listing and sinking ships as round after round came crashing into the fleet.

The bunker were utterly impenetrable to 500 pound bombs, only the 2,000's were a threat. SAMS fired and Lasers fired. Most of the 2,000 pund bombs were intercepting, and more than 800 SAMS raced to attack the F-4's. Only two railguns were destroyed.

As we have been watching the events in Blackhelm Confederacy and The Peoples Freedom unfold we wish to remain neutral in this conflict. Our reasons for this neutrality are that we do not see either of you as an ally and both have done some 'questionable' things in the past that we don't wish to touch with a 10 foot poll.

OCC: tons and tons of steel-reinforced concrete. You get bunker buster bombs and you will start seeing more damage.
