((OOC: Go ahead and point out the technical problems with this thing... I honestly have NO clue about anything in gun design, and only have a REALLY rough drawing of it that probably isn't even scaled right. So yeah, PLEASE point out the problems with it...))
TWP Battle Rifle, Model of 2081, Objective Individual Combat Weapon

Introduction to the Weapon
The need for this rifle was originally seen after it's pre-cursor, the BR-51, was shown to be lacking in several important areas after nearly 2 decades of use. For one, it had no heavier firepower than the actual kinetic round in use, and our men frequently had issues dealing with entrenched enemies at range. Also, the extreme lightness of the weapon made it slightly uncontrolable over long bursts, resulting in inefficient use of ammunition. Therefore, our designers took the weapon back to the drawing board, and came up with the weapon we have here today.
Lethality
6.5mm Grendel Round
This round is highly lethal at ranges up to 900 meters, and high probability of death out to 1200 meters against an unarmored target should the bullet hit at that range. The round was developed in 2003 by a Bill Alexander in the United States of America, and in 2051, our nation developed a battle rifle using this round. Since then, it has been shown to outperform the 5.56mm NATO round, and in many cases, the 7.62mm round, although the 7.62 generally has a longer range than the 6.5mm Grendel. At close ranges, the round is deadly accurate, and will almost always achieve first shot death, and if not that, then the target will be wounded to the point of no longer being able to fight.
20mm HE Air Burst Grenade
The 20mm HE Airburst Grenade is the primary change from the BR-51. This utilizes the "smart round" concept and the built in laser range finder on the weapon to explode over enemy entrenchments and foxholes, raining down shrapnel that might otherwise go right over the holes and never hit anything but dirt. It's fired from a 4 round magazine that is located directly ahead of the hand guard assembly and underneath the primary barrel.
