BRAYTON - Finance Minister Tyler Hutchins announced that the Church of Scientology has lost it's non-profit status it was awarded 27 years ago after a lengthy court battle. Hutchins cited allegations of financial wrongdoing on the part of Tolvanic Church of Scientology's leadership as well as the recent conviction of former NDI (OOC: Tolvanic CIA) employee and Scientologist Kenneth Baines on charges related to illegal wiretappings and home invasions of noted Scientology critic Brad Maynard. Critics have long argued that the Church used it's non-profit status to amass huge amounts of assets, while other claim it is nothing more than cult.

When asked to comment the Tolvanic Church of Scientology Director Tom Marsh, who oversees Tolvan's 17,000 practicing Scientologists, had no comment.

The Triumvirate Council of the Revolutionary Government of the Glorious Republic of Leafanistan

We applaud the revocation of the Church of Scientology's tax free status.

Years ago when they first applied we quickly consulted many scholars for a definition of a religion. While the spiritual elements and belief structure were seemingly harmless at first, the sheer contradiction of reality and powerful anti-medicine lobby frightened us.

We soon found their dozens of front organizations including Narcocon: purporting to be a substance abuse clinic, a "Religious Defense Organization" which was solely used to defame anti-Scientologist people. Then we discovered many cases of member abuse, and the signs of a classic pyramid scheme.

While other legitimate offer free worship and only ask for donations, Scientology demands mandatory donations to go to the higher levels. Our investigators found high levels of indoctrination and brainwashing, and finally the most frightening evidence against Scientology.

Like in your nation, our government was infiltrated by Scientologist agents using our own files to attack those opposed to their dangerous cult.

Finally a quote from the founder: "Religion is where the real money is at."

BRAYTON - Less than an hour after Finance Minister Tyler Hutchins pubically stripped the Tolvanic Church of Scientology of it's non-profit staus the Church struck back, in a way. Actor and noted Scinetologist Tim Cruz blasted the governemnt decision during on interview on Commonwealth News Channel's popular Night Watch. Cruz alleges that the move was part of a "war on unapproved religion" and the opening salvo in an attempt to "crush all dissent" prior to next year's elections in which Finance Minister Hutchins is expected to challenge Prime Minister Shaw in Tolvan's first free election in history. Cruz, the 37 years old star of such hits as "Renegade Rider" and "Shadows and Dust", has made headlines recently with his pro-Scientology comments and requent anti-government tirades as well as his high profile lawsuit against the makers animated comedic TV show "Over the Edge" for a recent episode which implied he was using the controversial statements to deflect attention from his sagging box office performance and allegations he had sex with a tree (dendrophilia was illegal at the time and a court case over wheter he can be prosecuted is pending) in college after losing a bet.

A spokesman for minster Shaw said, "That there is no anti-Scientology conpsiracy underway, the Churuch is still free to practice it's beliefs however the Commonwealth will no longer subsidise its operations though tax exempt status."
