OOC: Theao and Barkozy, go ahead and start slugging it out for your first round. Winner will obviously move on to the next stage and I will draft the second round contestants once all have finished. If you have any problems, let me know and I'll check into it. Try to post within a week or so, so that this stays active. Good luck and have fun.

As his name was called Keigo headed down to the arena proper and while waiting for his opponent to show, began running through some basic stretches. He wondered how interesting his opponent would make the contest as he continued to stretch.

Keigo expected this Erwin to at least make it an enjoyable match.

Erwin stepped down from the stands as his name was called. He looked at his opponent apprehensively, thinking about how to win. When he took his place, he ran in place a bit to warm up and stretched his legs a bit. Maybe, just maybe, he would make an assumption and allow an opening.

He looked to the spectators and then looked to Keigo for a moment. He wiped the sweat off of his forehead and then nodded to start the fight.

"An older opponent." Keigo thought as Erwin nodded slightly. Bringing his hand up, he saluted Erwin before turning to salute the hosts and officials. It never hurt to observe the formalities.

Karlburg looked at the spectators for a moment and then moved his eyes to his opponent. Erwin walked forward cautiously, keeping the spear at the ready but otherwise, he remained in a casual stance.

"So shall we begin?" Keigo asked as he brought his blade to rest upon his shoulder as he took a step back for every two steps back Erwin took forward. He was making sure to also keep a decent distance from the wall as he'd seen too many combatants die because they failed to keep the terrain in mind.

Extending his sword arm fully he then rushed Erwin, stopping a few feet outside fully extended lunge distance for his opponent to see how the spear-wielding man would react.
