The Parthinian Federation has its roots the early Sino-Persian alliance of the 21st Century. Essentially a large oligarchy, the Federation is run democratically by members of the Party who are allowed entrance after serving in the armed forces. Federation lifestyle remains rather harsh with 70 percent of the population residing in arcologies circling the equator. The rest live in floating cities in the upper atmosphere or remain nomads wandering the northern hemisphere.

The Pequot system was discovered by an American scouting team that amazingly did not detect the second star, thinking it a large Gas Giant. Even though the system has very few Americans, the name Pequot stuck, and the Chinese colonists named the second star Shenzhou, the name of the Heavenly Kingdom. The Pequot system is essentially two systems rotating around one another. The Pequot star has three Terrestrial planets of which the only (barely) inhabitable planet, Parthini, exists. Shenzhou has one Terrestrial planet and two Gas Giants orbiting it. Oddly enough, a 7th gas Giant rotates around the center of gravity of both, but is generally considered to orbit Shenzhou.

Naknek is largely regarded as the most important colony of the Federation. However, after much research, it has been found that the Primary planet, due to the exotic atmosphere of the planet, is unfit for terraforming. However, the Federation will continue to keep a large presence in the area.
