Bout time I did one of these. But mesa so lazy....Anyway. Here we go!
Background: Coming out of the Tragedies of the 2070s, the Yukatan Federation was born out of the Union of The United States of America, and The Russian Federation. Slowly becoming the dominate force on Earth, the Federation dominated Earth around the 2090s. Man soon looked to the stars colonizing the Moon, Mars, The Jovian Moons, and the Atlas Moons. Man Became the dominate Force in the Solar System under the Yukatan Flag.
Although there was no period of ever-lasting peace...Two political movements challenged the authority and power of the Yukatan Federation. Communist Forces under the Command of Vladimir Koslov, who sought to bring back the glory days of Communism by eliminating all Capitalist and Corporate influences on off-world Colonies and Orbital Facilities. In response to the Communists, the Frieden Movement started in the Jovian Colonies. A fascist movement, they believed that Freedom would only come after elimination of the "oppressors" on Terra-Firma. The Frieden Movement was backed by Unified German Republic Corporations.
In the 2100's Political and ideological differences reached a bloody head. Jovian Secessionists attack Yukatan Advisors on Io. This attack led to a 3 month campaign on the Jovian Moon. Although it wasn't the first conflict in our solar system, it was the bloodiest, and the cause of increased friction.
In 2162 The Rain Forest Wars occurred on Earth. Armed conflict ripped through South America as Koslovic, Frieden, and Yukatan Forces battled over control of the continent. This War was one of the biggest clashes since World War Two. With the destruction of the Rain Forest, Famine and Political Strife took root in South America. A Soldier's Tale: Rain Forest Wars, was written during this time, and published in 2164.
One of the Final Battles in The Interplanetary War, was on the Argyre Planitia On Mars. The Three Factions clashed here, a series of lightning strikes against Koslovic Forces, put them out of the fight early. The Frieden and Yukatan Forces clashed for another 2 months, in brutal Trench Warfare. Yukatan Forces finally route Frieden Forces off planet, and control Mars.
Recruitment drives, and propaganda techniques bolster Yukatan Forces. The Yukatan Forces destroy the Frieden and Koslovic Forces on Earth in 2164, and begin to systematically crush their strongholds throughout the Solar System in 2165.
In 2170 The Solar System was united under the Yukatan Flag. Faced with Overpopulation, and a large Military with no enemy to fight. Moving to Mars, the Moon, and The Jovian and Atlas Moons became a very attractive option.
In 2310 Shaw-Fujikawa Slipspace Drive was utilized and a fleet of Colony ships To be sent to the Nearest Systems and Planets were built. Vast Numbers of Citizens and Soldiers were sent to Planets far away.
By 2490 the Yukatan Federation spread across 33 planets, and 21 systems. These planets range from Economic and Military Strongholds, to Tiny Hinterland settlements.
Now it is the year 2500. And Things couldn't look better for the Yukatan Federation.
