The NS World's Air Forces

Blackhelm Confederacy

Introduction

The NS World's Air Forces is the first attempt to gather information on the Air Forces of the world that we all know in Nationstates. All nations maintaining even the smallest air forces should feel free to post up their information, and I will group it accordingly. Nations should also post their region and primary alliance on the bottom of their reference post.

In the modern battlefield, air power represents a tremendous advantage. The initial fighting in the majority of Nationstates battles takes place in the air, and the victor in that theater is often granted a strategic advantage over the rest of the wars course. Every nation is attempting to gain an edge over the others by constantly stepping up the power of their air forces, and this is a subject of interest for many people around the world.

This page hopes to gather together the air power from nations all across the globe, from the devastating SuB-4 Hurricane proliferated by Space Union to the humble workhorse that is the C-130.

Terra Exitum

Blackhelm Confederacy

The Air Forces of the Blackhelm Confederacy are primarily made up of Russian and ex-Soviet aircraft, due to a long standing relationship that started with the Soviet Union in 1923. Despite never actually going Communist, the Soviets were still willing to support the former Empire, and to this day the Confederacy maintains close ties to Russia.

Other deals with Space Union and Phoenix Dynamics made up the rest of the Confederate Air Force, as well as the massive Air Armada, made up of dozens of airships based out of Sacrament.

Several conflicts, most due to the Griffincrest Oil Corporation, have tested the Confederate Air Force, and each time it managed to come out on top of the competition, besting aircraft from around the world, notably during a major air battle with the PeoplesFreedom air force.

There are Russian designed aircrafts, American designed aircrafts and many other designs that are part of the United Dominion Air Force.

The United Dominion Air Force has their own airship fleets. Why? Because it can them. The airship fleets are good to patrol area that can’t be done on the ground. Plus, they are wicked cool to see in the air.

The United Dominion Air Force keeps a large bomber fleet, too.

The United Dominion Air Force is one of the top military divisions in the United Dominion Military Forces, it is only second to the United Dominion Armed Forces.

Ennusian Air Force

Established during the rebellion of 1980, the Republic Airforce has taken technology to the next level. Utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology, the vast majority of the Ennusian Airforce is composed of automated self-learning semi-autonomous UCAVs. To facilitate this, a large mainframe exists in a classified location, and each base and plane contains an undisclosed number of computer cabinents. A select few planes remain piloted by humans. The AirGuard currently operates several older (read: real life) equipment in the same semi-autonomous fashion as the Air Force. All naval aircraft fall under the control of the AirForce.

The United Ed States
17-02-2007, 23:43
The United Ed States Air Force consists of almost entirely United States of America originated aircraft, due to the fact that when the United Ed States Air Force was first established (On August 10th, 1959), the USA was shipping free military supplies, including aircraft to the Ed States government. With many South American nations and Carribean nations turning communist, the USA thought that the United Ed States, an actively anti-communist nation, might be a good small nation ally to assist the USA in operations against these communist nations (the United Ed States is located in the Atlantic, only a few hours from North and South America). As the communist threats arose, closer and closer to home for the Americans, the United Ed States recieved more and more free supplies.

After the fall of the USSR in 1991, the USA stopped all free shipments
to the United Ed States. However, by now, a major governmental priority of the Ed States was the military, and so trillions of dollars were continually pumped into the nations military, much to the Air Force.

To this day, the United Ed States buys many international weapons, but always buys american when it comes to the UES Air Force.

The United Ed States has yet to fight a full scale "real" war, but the nation's air force has been used several times in various conflicts. A favorite tactic of the UES AF is massive large scale bombing. During the King Toad Civil Wars and Defense of Emperor Nero Conflict, air fleets of several hundred aircraft launched huge and usually devastating attacks on enemy targets.

Currently, the UES AF consists of atleast 10 of the following listed aircraft, unless otherwise noted:

F/A-117 Night Hawks
C-17 Globemasters
AC-17 (Spectre's are they called?)
F-15 Eagles
F-16 Falcolns

8 Champion Class (Slightly larger than Nimitz) Carriers
1 Nimitz Class Carrier

The Crookfur Air Force

The Crookfur Airforce (CFAF) is, as would be expected from an air force serving CAP member nation, a large and staggeringly powerful organisation although it should be noted that in Recent years the main focus of procurement has focused on the rationalisation of Strike Comamnd and the enhancement of the long range capacbilities of Support Command. Bomber Command has recently reduced in size due to a massive rationalisation amoungst the types of aircraft it operates but the introduction of newer more capable aircraft has offset this some what. Historically the CFAF was a fairly small service designed around supporting expeditionary ground forces. Today this is largely the same with the large size of Support command beign able to keep groudnf roces deployed all over the world supplied with and mobilized. Despte this focus on expeditionary warfare the arrival of practical aircraft carriers between the 2 world wars and the advent of intercontinental ranged bombers a significant investment had to be made in defensive interceptor aircraft and whiole these interceptors are part of Striek Command they are very rarely seen outside of of areas not wholely part of Crookfur.

Chevrokian Republic Air Force

The Air Force of the unified Chevrokian Republic came into existance in 1948, but due isolation policies in the wake of the "Long War," the RAF (like all branches of the military) recieved little funding until the late 1970's. The RAF primarily relies upon domestically-built aircraft, with some Western types or upgraded versions also in service.

Vault 10
18-02-2007, 00:10
In Vault 10, the land is completely unsuitable for land transport, so passengers and cargo are carried either by sea or by air.
Aerospace Logistics Corporation keeps an extensive fleet of passenger, cargo and combat aircraft, providing for the needs of Vault 10, and, in part, Eurasia, as well as operating airlines worldwide. While the original company was based in Vault 10, Greater Dienstad, now it is multinational.

The civilian fleet is very diverse, ranging from $20,000 single-seaters for home users to huge airliners and space vehicle transporters.

The Nonconsensual Delivery Department handles delivery of live munitions without recipient consent. The most numerous vehicles used are:

[ Fighter ]

F-22 - The license-built mainstay of ALC air patrol forces, slowly undergoing modernization.
ALF-22N - A reinforced modification of F-22, at expense of higher weight capable of operating from 700m runways rather than 900m. ICS Prototype 2 originally integrated. Capable of operating from Hub class Aircraft Carrying Cruisers (700m long).
ALC/Sukhoi Su-37M3 - Advanced air dominance fighter, license-built and equipped with ICS Prototype 2 avionics suite. Naval-capable.
AL-2 - Multipurpose light aircraft, frequently seen escorting passenger and cargo flights, and predominantly not seen in less peaceful missions. ICS Prototype 2 originally integrated.
F-35 - Multipurpose light aircraft, still produced for missions where stealth is more important. Has various modifications, some naval-capable.
ALF-35 - Modified F-35, a derivative of F-35, used for naval operations, featuring more durable coating. ICS Prototype 2 originally integrated. Fully naval-capable.
Gecko-A - Gecko version, focused on air combat, can be used on par with normal fighters, where the situation doesn't allow them.
AL-47 - Prototype craft, highly classified, but having history of action in GSMDP defense and Headmed operation. Fully naval-capable.
ALC/Sukhoi Su-34M3 - Long-range strike fighter, license-built, and equipped with ICS Prototype 1-S avionics. Naval-capable.

[ Bomber ]

ALC/Tupolev Tu-22M5 - Supersonic semi-stealth medium strategic bomber, designed specifically for anti-shipping role. License-built and modernized, equipped with ICS Prototype 1-S, low-RCS skin shape, and advanced defenses.
ALC/Tupolev Tu-160M2 - Supersonic semi-stealth heavy strategic bomber, the mainstay of ALC NDD long-range delivery group, designed against stationary targets. Licensed and equipped with ICS Prototype 1-S, intense RCS reduction measures, and basic defenses.
ALB-2H - Third most popular bomber of ALC NDD, the ALB-2H is derived from B-2 in idea, but applies 4th generation stealth technology, and is built with counter-stealth radars in mind. With ICS Prototype 1-S, it also reduces communication requirements.
B-2A - The standard B-2A is favored by ALC for the non-distinctive profile, important in operations where owner corporation shouldn't be determined even if the plane is detected and identified.
AL-3 - An advanced stealth bomber, highly classified.
ALB-T110 - This low-RCS strategic bomber is based on an originally cargo plane, and, while having low RCS, due to low maneuverability is restricted to operations where high payload is paramount.

[ Close air support, strike ]

Gecko - Featuring many versions, fully custom-designed Gecko serves as the major CAS vehicle for ALC, and is produced in large numbers.
Su-25 - Not yet phased out, Su-25, the most effective attack plane of the XX century, continues to serve, having no full replacements, and needing none due to extreme sturdiness. Avionics are ICS Prototype 1-S suite.
Ka-50M, Ka-50-2M - 1-seater and tandem 2-seat versions of Kamov's Ka-50 helicopter are one of the major vehicles for high-intensity combat.
A-10 - A large number of A-10 from different sources continues service in ALC NDD.
Mi-24 - The most numerous combat helicopter ever, a large number of Mi-24 is used for medium-intensity operations due to their extensive multipurpose capabilities.

[ Airlift, tanker ]

ALC/Antonov An-124-600 - The highly upgraded version of Antonov's transport is used throughout the world for civilian cargo transport, and, when duty calls, for NDD purposes as well.
Mi-26 - Affordable and reliable, Mi-26 transports various cargoes and troops tactically.
K-7 - CRR flying crane, capable of lifting the relatively lightweight Type 90 and AAT tanks used by the NDD, as well as many civilian vehicles, supplies tactical airlift.
ALC/Mil Mi-26T2 - Specifically modified for vehicle airlift, Mi-26T2 lacks fuselage capable of troop transport, instead focusing on lifting vehicles weighing up to 32 tonnes, and transporting 25 tonnes normally.
C-130M - The well-proven C-130, capable of things up to carrier landings, remains irreplaceable for tactical airlift, as well as for many other purposes. Capable of operating from Hub class Aircraft Carrying Cruisers.
MK-26 - Not really derived from Mi-26, MK-26 was the first CRR attempt at lifting 26-tonne cargo. Lacking cost-efficiency, MK-26 is being phased out.
AL-T800 - Strategic airlifter used for particularly heavy cargoes.
Airbus A380F - Originally hyped for efficiency, the plane was purchased by ALC, but, after low strength reserve caused concerns, was limited to transporting cargoes with low consequences in case of loss.

[ To be continued - you don't think it's all such a megacorporation has, right? ]

No, it is IC, so that I can gather intel on everyones air forces and than destroy them.

Actually it is to be like a guide for people to know what other people have, something like what an RL military commander would have. It gives people an idea of what others can deploy.

The World Soviet Party: i would imagine this sort of stuff would be freely availble through NS equivelents of Janes or magazines like Air Forces Monthly, numbers and deployments might be a bit more hard to coem by but avaiation enthusiasts have in RL proven able to get details on some very well hidden and restricted aircraft so actively employed and mobilized aircraft should be easy to spot and indentify. Now if you ahd soem sort of super secret aircraft you would probabaly be better leaving it off your list or mentioning the secret nature of such an aircraft in your list.

And yes, it is supposed to be like one of those, I was looking at a book I have called "The World's Air Forces" and found it interesting, and then decided to make an NS version.

No Taxes Air Force

The Air Force of No Taxes (NTAF) was founded in the late 1930s as the Army saw the need for a separate force solely dedicated to Air warfare. It has come a long way since then and uses quite a different mix of aircraft. It is mainly focused on air superiority and a priority of the NTAF lately has been to acquire more bomber capabilities. So while the NTAF has never been engaged in a full-scale war and remains inexperienced it is undergoing a period of growth and is ready to fight wherever it is called upon.

Griffincrest Air Forces

The Griffincrest Air Force, or GAF, is placed under the command of Air Marshall Herman Goldring. The GAF's primary responsibility is to defend Griffincrest owned oil fields and rigs at all costs. Despite using often times out dated equipment, the GAF has proven itself again and again as its prospects fall under continual attack by the forces of hypocrisy. The GAF has proven itself as a force to be reckoned with in the skies above the modern battlefield, and intends to remain that way for years to come.

The primary fighter and the workhorse of the GAF is the tiny Folland Gnat. The Gnat was chosen because of its very low cost, and the simplicity in maintaining it. Modern Griffincrest Gnats carry either a pair of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, a single AIM-120 AMRAAM and a rocket pod, or a pair of rocket pods, depending on the situation. Gnats have also been called in for ground attack, in which case they can be seen carrying two 500lb bombs into the combat zone. The usual strategy of the Griffincrest Corporation concerning the Gnat is the swarm. The basis behind the swarm is that if even one enemy fighter is downed, that makes up for the cost of about twenty Gnats. When a Gnat swarm takes flight, the sun is often blotted out by the sheer number of fighters, and the screech of AMRAAM's is soon to be heard.

The fighter/bomber of the Corporation is the venerable F-4 Phantom II. The F-4 has served with distinction in dozens of Griffincrest campaigns, as the main delivery system of thousands of tons of munitions on enemy formations, bases, and cities. The ability to launch the F-4 from a Forresal Class carrier has also made the F-4 popular in the GAF, as this allows it to go along on every Griffincrest outing. The F-4, however, is expensive, and so oftentimes Griffincrest Commanders will not use them unless necessary, or they deem the situation safe enough.

The fleet defense fighter of the Griffincrest Navy is the F-14 Tomcat. That position, however, may soon be given to the FA-15 Cardinal. After several conflicts with some of the world's premier air powers, Griffincrest began to seek a more powerful aircraft to defend its valuable naval assets. While the F-14 is a spectacular plane, they still felt something more was needed to supplement the Tomcat against the advanced aicraft fielded by the enemies of capitalism. For this, they turned to GEM Aerospace, out of the Candrian Empire. A purchase was made there for one thousand FA-15 Cardinals, and these have been seen several times, flying alongside the older F-14 Tomcat in the fleet defense role.

The trainer of the Griffincrest Air Force is the AIDC AT-3C Ziqiang. The Ziqiang was purchased from the Leafanistani Red Mafia long ago, when the Griffincrest Corporation was first building its aerial security forces. Since than, those same original aircraft have been used.

The main land based interceptor of the Griffincrest Corporation is the Su-15 Flagon. This aircraft was chosen on the same basis as the Gnat. The price per Flagon is several times less than that of any modern advanced aircraft. Not only that, but the Flagon could be equipped with several long range missiles, allowing it to strike out at several enemy aircraft from a distance.

The Oslean Air Force

Oslea originally was only a ground and naval combatant until the late 1960's when intense pressure from the generals of the military finally forced Parliament to purchase 30 F-86 Sabres at 1974 for the use of the military. Formerly called AIRCOM (AIR COMmand) the name was changed to OSAF (OSlean Air Force) in 1981. The aircraft utilized by the OSAF has changed over the years, but now currently utilises the indigenous designs made by Mirage Heavy Industries of Oslea, named the OSF-20 Ticat II and a stealth version, the OSF-26 Hydra.

OSAF was once divided in the Eco Civil War of Winter 2006, when rebels protesting for better treatment of the environment hijacked half of the air force's fighters. OSAF has a few elite Ace teams to its credit, showing the world that OSAF pilots are some of the most skilled in the world. OSAF pilots were able to gun down 320 enemy aircraft in the one week war while rebels only took down 41.

OOC info: The stats for the OSF-20 and OSF-26 are in my sig, just as proof that i didn't make them up on the spot. All other non-RL aircraft are from Pudite Military Arms. I don't have my Word document with all my force's equipment on my laptop, so I will update this list later.

EDIT: Why doesn't my sig show up.. Anyway, If you search for "OSF-19 Ticat released to public" you should find its stats. Don't mind the title, it's misleading. the OSF-20 and OSF-26 stats are there.

Vault 10
18-02-2007, 02:20
OOC, 2 TSS: Yeah, it seems like some people, like Asgarnieu, have just listed all the aircraft they have ever heard about...

As for me, half of them are just small modifications of another half (like F-22 and ALF-22N), for others I've clearly stated the purpose and how they got into the inventory. Well, and for conglomerate of countries without land forces at all, it's, I think, quite expectable.

BTW, I'd suggest to mention timeline. To start with, I'm strict MT. You are, as it seems, low-PMT (since everything is next-generation, which is the precise definition for postmodern - though correct me, if that means just the current RL generation). Well, and people using RL ones are most certainly MT or RLT.

p.s. (edit): To Asgaenieu - There's really no need for such numbers. And mixing tech is not just nightmares for the crews - it's worse maintained equipment.

P.P.S. One moment. Please, everyone, respond by editing your posts whenever possible. It will let us keep the thread cleaner. And, please, avoid unnecessary confirmations, etc.

The Senderlian Airforce is under Air Command (AIRCOM) of the Senderlian Armed Forces (SAF). AIRCOM can was formally known as the Royal Air Force of Sendersdale. Founded in 1924 and it's eventual merger with land (LANCOM) and naval forces (SEACOM) in 1968 with the Sendersdale Military Act, 1968. The reason of the merger was to ease communication and coordination between fighting forces. AIRCOM provides the element of air in it's the dual role of homeland security, and the security of Senderlian intrests abroad.

Besides regular duties of protecting Senderlian Airspace and participating in international missions, Senderlian pilots are also known for their abilities in aerial aerobatics, and manuveurs to entertain crowds with it's two world renowned demonstation squadrons the Snowbirds (composed of CT-114, trainer jet and performer plane of the Senderlian Forces) and the Silver Hawks (composed of F-16C, reserved fighter and performer jet of the Senderlian Forces).

Some planes remain classified for matters of national security.

The Imperial Cravanian Air Force

The Imperial Cravanian Air Force (henceforth referred to as the ICAF) was founded in 1912 as a seperate branch from the Imperial Cravanian Army, making it another one of the first dedicated air forces of the world. The ICAF is on the forefront of Cravanian military technology, often embracing new technologies which other branches would usually not adopt until it were tried and true. Among Cravan's first line of defense and offense, the ICAF serves under the banner of the Empire as a fighting unit capable of tackling even the toughest of opponents on the world stage today.

Dukarbana

Dukarbanian Airforce

Also known to the Dukarbanian citizens as the "Luftwaffe", the Dukarbanian Airforce (DAF) was first established in 1916 when German aircraft companies began to produce planes for the nation. It was during WW1 that Dukarbana (On the side of the Central Powers) was at war with Mantonia (On the side of the Allied Powers). The first aircraft used by the DAF was the Fokker E.III fighter. This fighter dominated the Bristol Scouts of Mantonia until more updated Sopwith planes went into action. However, the German D7 went into service in late 1917 with the DAF and it retained superiority over Mantonia until the end of the war in 1918. The DAF was also the only operator of bombers in the region, achieving devastating success in the spring offensives of 1918.

Even with the harsh peace treaties being inflicted on the Central Powers, Dukarbana never had the same experince as her allies did. Dukarbana still retained all Fokker D7 aircraft after the war and they were the mainstay of the DAF until 1926. The D7 was soon replaced by the more powerful and faster Hueller FD-3 (a domestic design). The FD-3 achieved 151 mph and was armed with two 7.92mm MGs. This fighter gave excellent service between 1926 and 1932, with 4 main variants being produced. The bomber fleet was dismantled after the war, but then was reactivated in 1928 after reports of troop movements along the Mantonian border. The Hueller BD-1 was produced for this role.

It was 1931 and the DAF was soon finding itself unable to produce aircraft. It was 2 years after the stock market crashed and the economy was falling; albeit a brief period for Dukarbana. The company that supplied the DAF was out of business in 1931, so no more aircraft could be produced for the increasing Dukarbanian Luftwaffe. The FD-3 and BD-1 were outdated, but could not be replaced. Attempts were made to invite foreign companies to produce aircraft, but most failed. It wasn't till 1933 when Dukarbana finally had a aircraft provider. It came in the forms of Arado and Heinkel from Germany. A order was made to Arado for Ar 64 fighters to replace the elderly FD-3 and the Ar 64 was soon introduced for service with the DAF in 1934. It wasn't long before a better fighter was soon found. When it was reported that Arado was consulting with Mantonia about establishing a division over in that country, Dukarbana no longer ordered planes from Arado and told officials to move out of the country. They did so in 1936 and were never to return again. It was May 1937 when Heinkel stepped up to produce for Dukarbana. Dukarbana was interested in Heinkels He112 monoplane design, which recently lost a competition with the Bf-109 in Germany. The He 112 was favored over the 109 due to the surplus of the engine the He 112 was using and Heinkel was offering deals to the government that Willy Messerschmitt was unwilling to give. So in late 1937, Heinkel began to build factories in Dukarbana and the He112 was adopted as the DAF's standard fighter. The He112B-2 was used during the Beer Rebellion of 1938 when Marxist elements of the airforce defected to the short-lived "Socialist Republic of Temer". Luckly, the Marxists used the older Ar-64 fighter while the DAF used the He112B-2. During the 4 months of war, the average ratio of air kills was 30 Arados for 1 Heinkel. When the rebellion was crushed, all Ar-64s were retired. That same year, Dukarbana joined in a alliance with Germany. The He-112 served Dukarbana until August 1941. Heinkel also produced the famous He-111 bomber for the DAF, first starting with the B model and then in 1939, the popular H model.

It was Mantonia's entry into WW2 which sparked the first war the DAF were in combat. In 1941, Mantonia joined the Allies and declared war on the Axis in May of that year. The DAF struck with these aircraft during WW2: He-112 and the newly produced He-100 fighters; Ju-87 Stukas; He-111H bombers and in 1943, the Ju-188; He-177 Heavy Bombers; Fw-200 Naval Bombers; supplied by Ju-52s. However, Dukarbana was defeated in WW2 and surrendered on June 6th, 1945. Most of the airforce was reduced after the war, but Dukarbana was kept as a independent state, unlike Germany and Japan. The US soon realized that Dukarbana could be a resourceful ally against Mantonia, who underwent a communist revolution in 1952. So afterwards, the US soon supplied Dukarbana with modern military jets. After 1965, Dukarbana operated the F-4 Phantom II as its fighter, the A-4 Skyhawk and F-105 Thunderchief as its frontline attack aircraft, the B-52 as its bomber, the E-2 Hawkeye as its main AWACS aircraft, and the UH-1D as its main transport helicopter. The CH-47 Chinook was adopted as the main cargo helicopter.

The New Ustodian War between Dukarbana and Mantonia was the last war where the two nations would fight each other in the air. The war lasted between 1973 and 1986. Dukarbana was in financial ruin due to industrial damage and could not modernize the Luftwaffe. So during the '90s and early 2000's, the DAF was still flying jets from the '60s/'70s. The bomber fleet was lucky to fly the B-1B bomber and B-2 Spirit bombers. It was only recently that the DAF purchased 500 Super Hornets to replace a equivalent number of Phantoms and the rest of the F-4Es are currently being upgraded to the F-4X standard (provided by Phoneix Dynamix).

The Air Force of the Armed Republic has its beginnings in the 1993 revolution where it flew seized Armenian and Georgian Soviet-designed aircraft until the war’s end. The Air Force has routinely been one of the two services in the Armed Republic seeing the highest amounts of funding and attention, sharing this position with the Army of the Armed Republic [AAR/ARA], although a large portion of funding is in the form of private enterprise by corporations such as Dat’ Pizdy Aerospace [and thus not included on government budget statements].

The Ezaltian Forward Air Force was founded in 1919, due to the growing imprtance of aircraft in warfare. It has always had a 'quality over quantity' policy, favoring smaller amounts of superior aircraft to masses of cheap ones.

Fighters
F/A-401 Bird of Prey: The backbone of the EFAF, this Dartian-designed fighter can be used for ground support or air superiority.
F/A-501 Blizzard: A two-seater escort plane that complements the Bird of Prey in air superiority and ground-attack roles.
F-119 Banshee: A massive fighter designed for interception and deep-strike missions.

Close Air Support
AC-130 Spectre: Provides continuous close air support to ground forces. Performed extremely well in Naasha.

Bombers
B-2 Spirit: A stealthy bomber used for penetration and strategic bombing.
B-52 Stratofortress: In service since 1960, this is designed for massive carpet bombing.
B-1 Lancer: Only a few of these are in service, used to launch cruise missiles.

Support:
E-4 Nightwatch: The mainstay AWACS of the EFAF.
E-2C Hawkeye: A prop-driven mini-AWACS used by the Navy.
C-5 Galaxy: Used for transporting heavy materiels, such as tanks.
C-17 Globemaster: Used for smaller transport and paratroopers.
KC-10 Extender: Used for aerial refueling.

Other:

Israel beth Israel

Established at the founding of the nation, the Israeli Air force was originally mostly the remnants of the once huge air force of the defeated nation. Though most of this was destroyed during the war, it was still a considerable and very strong air force for the small nation.

In the years since the founding, the air force has shifted from that largely inherited force to something uniquely Israeli. Since Israel beth Israel is geographically completely surrounded by its two leading allies, Errikland and Jaymeland, the need for an extensive army or navy was very small. This meant that most military money went into the air force, which quickly became the pride of the nation.

Recently, Israel beth Israel received and upgraded designs purchased by the Mucro Imperial Alliance, and has since started to phase out older designs to be replaced by the new fighters and other craft.

The Imperial Pudite Air Forces

The Pudite Air Force is an ancient entity, dating back to the late ninteen-hundreds when simple gunpowder rocket-powered flight was first developed on a large enough scale to use as a military arm effectivly. For the next few decades it was resigned to simple scouting missions and small dogfights, most fought with the pilots side-arms alone.

Following the terrible wars of the early twentieth century, however, the Dominion up-armed its aircraft, and created the first airborne soldiers of the branch. Unlike many other national militaries, the airborne troops are actually a part of the Air Force, to reduce command issues.

Nowadays the Imperial Air Force even maintains a small fleet to serve its refueler aircraft and longer-ranged bombers on globe-spanning missions. The Imperial Air Force can strike anywhere in the world within six hours, and not long after that, can they put down an entire airborne division in one of their ten massive transport fleets.

Hurtful Thoughts

HAAF
Hurtian Army Air Force

Initailly starting with a small number of DH. 4 biplanes purely for reconnosance purposes, they became extremely interested in the reaults achieved by a number of US Marines in Central America. the ability to drop munitions directly from a plane to the ground as not unheard of, but now it could be done with a sizeable payload and with rerasonable accuracy at ranges exceeding that of heavy artillery.

The biggest constraint of heavy artillery, was that it took time for a shell to travel the many miles from the muzzle to the target, and accuracy dropped off considerably as one aproached extreme ranges. Aircraft were first used to spot for this artillery, providing accurate positioning of troop concentrations and immediate corrections to the firing solution. Dropping small bombs allowed for harrassing the enemy while in the open, and to effectively sap their moral, but accuracy was at that time poor.

The perfection of a technique called 'dive bombing' made the airplane into a weapon unto itself, now able to (in theory) find and destroy its own targets at ranges far in excess of even the largest guns, while only requiring a clear strip in which to land on at the end of the day.

Therefore, aircraft were considered little more than ultra long range heavy artillery, and as such, firmly in control of the Hurtian Army, with the Marines taking a small number for themselves.

Air defense was also considered a priority of the Army, and not worth the formation of a new branch, this allowed for dual use of ground and air defense platforms in an integrated area defense scheme, without the internal strife commonly found among other militaries. As the army took the threat of enemy bombers quite seriously, in addition to the act of inflicting mass damage upon the enemy's forces in general.

All was good, until the Hurtians recieved their first aircraft carrier...
The HTS Independence...
This problem was quickly plugged by making the Hurtian Navy subserviant to the Hurtian Marines, thus, the aircraft carrier operated Marine aircraft, the marines. Coastal Patrol, being originally the domain of coastal artillery, which was in fact Hurtian Army railway guns, was retained by Hutrian Army Air Force Strategic Bombers.

Yet another problem developed as more capable aircraft carriers came into service, allowing the use of ruggedized 'standard' aircraft which were not Army standard. This caused yet more problems, had it not been for the extra leverage granted the Hurtian Marines at that time, the Marines ruled that a stronger undercarraige would be benificial to both carrier and land based aircraft, and so, the Army reluctantly followed orders, navalizing the entire air arm at great expense.

Currently the Hurtian Air force uses a narrow variety of aircraft to fill almost every concievable need. The entire Strategic Army Air wing comprises of a single division of 20,000 people, plus multiple tactical air wings relegated mostly to the marines, with an estimated groundcrew of 40,000 in both the Marine and Army divisions.

Streleheim
25-02-2007, 23:36
Streleheim's air force, officially designated the King's Strellic Air Force (or KSAF), is the premier and largest branch of Streleheim's armed forces. KSAF is divided into two administrative units, known as task corps. These are the the 'Air Force Combat Task Corps' and the much larger 'Air Force Logistical Task Force.' The two task corps are further divided into units known as commands. As units, commands are not based on size, rather they are formed for a single purpose.

For example, the Logistical Task Corps is comprised of Transport Command, Medical Command, General-Quartermaster Command, Training & Education Command, and Air Force Provost Command. In general, these are self explanatory. Transport Command deals with the air-transport of the Air Force, as well as the other branches of the military. Medical Command is comprised of doctors and nurses. Training & Education is responsible for the Air Force's boot camp and training schools, while Air Force Provost is the military police command in the Air Force. Finally, the General-Quartermaster Command deals with all other logistical needs, including but in no way limited to the tasks of providing food, equipment, and uniforms.

On the other hand, Air Force Combat Task Corps handles tasks like air and ground combat, as well as intelligence gathering and special forces. It includes the Special Operations Command, Air Defense Command, Intelligence Command, Air Force Army Command, Air Combat Command, and Strike Command. The special operations of the Air Force are the most renowned in all of Streleheim's military. They include infantry units, like the Pararescue Regiments, which are tasked with combat search and rescue, the Air Force Ranger Regiment, a quick reaction light-infantry force, and the Air Force Special Tactics Groups, which are the elite counter-terror and special forces units of SAFSOC, and the Recon regiments. SAFSOC also fields Special Operations Aviation Wings, whose purpose is to coordinate with and transport special forces units, and Tactical Support Wings, which include gunships and light attack helicopters. Air Defense Command is composed of transportable anti-aircraft turrets, ground anti-aircraft units, and territorial air superiority fighters.

The Air Force Intelligence Command is the military's main intelligence agency, utilizing stealth and reconnaissance planes, in addition to satellites and human intelligence. The Strellic Air Force Army Command is an idea that has been developed over time. Originally airborne infantry were under the Army, but eventually handed over to the rapidly expanding Air Force. The Air Force expaded upon the idea and now fields divisions of paratroopers, air assault infantry and helicopters, and air-droppabe tanks, as well as support fighter-bombers. Air Combat Command is the main command for fighter jets, primarily interceptors and air superiority fighters. Finally, Strike Command is in charge of both strategic and some tactical bombers.

Since the Igovian Revolution of 1982 has India maintained an official defence force known collectively as the Commonwealth Guard.

In 1989 the Soviets broke the power of the Communist Party and disbanded the army, navy, and air force, making the Guard -a popular organisation- the sole organ of the revolution's martial defence.

Contained within the Commonwealth Guard is a branch known as the Commonwealth Air Guard (CAG), which contains a regular Expert Corps (CAGEC) and irregular Auxiliary Corps (CAGAC).

Like other Guard branches, the CAG is democratically controlled by its Soviets, in which all Air Guard members are entitled to take part. Officers are elected by their peers and may be nominated by these or by themselves, and are accountable, subject to recall should a session of the Soviet to which they are responsible see the conduct of a referendum on the particular Officer's continued status.

Since the modern Indian Soviet Commonwealth (raised in 1989 to replace the Igovian Soviet Commonwealth and revised twice, most recently in 2007, by new populist constitutions) counts as its population more than eight and one third billion citizens it is normal to count Guard recruitment per billion.

With that in mind it is a matter of record that, in each billion head of population, there are typically 1.5 million CAGEC recruits and 0.5 million CAGAC personnel. At time of writing this makes for over twelve million regular and four million irregular personnel. It is fair to say that the Air Guard takes precedence over its maritime equivalent, the Commonwealth Oceanic Guard.

These two million (per billion) personnel service and are served by some forty-thousand airframes of all types, from helicopters and transport planes to reconnaissance platforms and air-superiority fighters. Also included are unmanned drones and training aircraft. All told, approximately one third of a million airframes exist in CAG service at time of writing.
