Ensign Nog was enjoying what had been a quiet day in Ops. Since LT Dax had the day off, he was monitoring the science station. A gong chimed and Nog flipped a switch to look at the screens of one of the sensor relays on the other side of the wormhole in the Gamma Quadrant. "Major, we have company coming!" he called.

"Go to yellow alert," ordered Major Kira. "Captain Sisko to Ops. We have a Dominion Fleet detected at a day away from the station."

A conference was held in the Wardroom. Sensors had picked up a Dominion fleet featuring 90 attack ships, 14 cruisers, and 5 battleships. It wasn't a large fleet by Dominion standards and wouldn't be enough to take over the Alpha Quadrant. It could however be enough to overwhelm the station.

Sisko had made a plea to anyone who could assist to get vessels around Deep Space Nine.

"We must keep Deep Space Nine," emphasized Sisko. "This station is the key to controlling the Alpha Quadrant and the Dominion knows it."

"I have contacted Starfleet," stated Major Kira. "They are sending us everything they have, but only some of the ships will get here in time. If we can't get more help, we are going to be outnumbered here."

"Try to contact everyone you can," ordered Sisko. "We desperately need help. The 40 ships Starfleet can get to us won't do the job. Is there anything you can do to the station chief?"

"Unfortunately our torpedo tubes can only take photons," responded O'Brien. "Otherwise I'd put quantums in the tubes. We'll just have to rely on Defiant and the Akira class ships sent here for those. I've spent the past few years since we encountered the Dominion upgrading the shields and phaser banks. The station can take a beating, but I don't know how long she'll last."

"I've ordered an evacuation of all non-essential personnel," stated Sisko. "The transports will be leaving for Bajor very soon. Everyone, make sure you keep your men informed, and make sure they are ready. We will not surrender."
