Ubundiville, Feb. 14 — As part of Ubundi's major push for positive global relations, Ubundi's most prestigious orchestra, the Ubundiville Philharmonic (www.ubvillephil.org.ubu) announced today that the group would begin its first international tour in nine years. According the orchestra's music director, Samuel Muturi, the tour would begin this week.
"This tour will, without a doubt, show to the world the Philharmonic's and Ubundi's talents," said Muturi happily in a room packed with reporters. "Our conductors have cooked up quite a concert for all the audiences."
One of Ubundi's most famous musicians, Principal Cellist Obi E. Ngozi wrote of the tour on his website (www.obingozi.ubu) as "concerts that will be remembered for generations forward."
Trombone Zuberi Udo said similar things saying the tour will be "a grand triumph."
According to the orchestra's official press release, the tour will include two-day stops in numerous nations with works from the greats of the Baroque period up to the Contemporary period. As the Philharmonic pushes to embrace new technology, all works will be available on-line at its website (music.ubvillephil.org.ubu) live for free. The Ubundi News Corporation (UNC) and some of each host nation's television and radio networks will be covering the tour. The press release also stated that the orchestra wouldn't charge the host nations, although the prices of the tickets would be up to the individual theaters.
Since its founding in 1939 by millionaire orchestra evangelist Akono Wells in Ikela as the Ikela Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic has served as a sanctuary for orchestra-proponents and people wishing to spend a few hours listening to the works of renowned Baroque composers like J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi to the contemporary works of Daniel Börtz and more. Throughout the late years of the second World War, the Philharmonic traveled to war zones to play for the Allied Powers' soldiers and locals effected by the war. In 1946, the orchestra moved to the Kazii Center in Ubundiville where they changed their name to the present version, the Ubundiville Philharmonic. After the O. Opeyemi Hall was constructed a decade later at the Center, it became the home for the majority of the Philharmonic's performances. As of February 14, 2007, the Philharmonic has performed 14,100 concerts. Home to musicians and conductors from all over the world, the Ubundiville Philharmonic offers an varying and sometimes exotic array of works.
Known for its surprises and brilliant performances, the tour should be a definite "must-see" for all.
