Tropical, humid rain battered the nation of Eurasia, with sultry water branching from the skies in jungly thickets that strangled the northern cities. Water streaked down the windows of Kensington Palace.
Sir Phillip Sinclair, Eurasian Prime Minister, reclined in his leather chair, watching an EBG News report on the formation of a new Eurasian national football team.
"I told you it was a good idea," Chloe Khitian, Minister for Culture, Media, and Sport, stated smugly. "The people love it! With the new-found football fever, and with the Premiership's ratings rocketing, it's the best idea my Ministry's had! I mean, we might have missed the current World Cup, but I can feel the excitement in the air for the next one." Her enthusiasm was infectious, wafting through the air like a deadly, airborne pathogen towards Sir Phillip. He crushed those emotions with the brutality that a military junta would afford pro-democracy rebels.
"It would seem you are right, Ms. Khitian," remarked Sir Phillip. "Impressive that the legislation creating this team marshalled a seventy-eight percent vote in affirmation. I haven't seen that kind of Parliamentary unity in months. Still, it's a pity that government funds are going towards this. Taxes had to be raised so we could afford it."
"Sir, a slight raise in taxes doesn't matter," responded Chloe. "You'll be remembered as the Prime Minister that brought culture back to Eurasia, as the man that brought happiness back to Eurasia after...That-Guy-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named-Ever."
"Ms. Khitian," riposted Sir Phillip. "If you ever attempt to rip-off Harry Potter, especially in such a stupid manner as that, you will lose your job. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, sir," she grumbled.
"Now, we ought to celebrate, it seems, effuse even more joy into the lives of Eurasians," mused Sir Phillip. "I propose that we hold an international tournament; here's how it shall work, and take notes now - first..."

To all nations of the world:
Celebrating the formation of a Eurasian national football team, the United Kingdom will be hosting a three-week long international football tournament, and all nations are invited to participate, to be called the Global Games. Unlike the World Cup or other international tournaments, all nations are assured a place in the Global Games.
OOC: I would really appreciate help with scorinating. Also, this tournament will feature heavily on the RP bonus, and it will not use seeding.
